The story

Voice actor Kenichi Suzumura (52), who heads the talent agency INTENTION, announced on the company’s official website that it will dissolve on March 31, 2027. The reason given is the adjustment disorder Suzumura revealed he had back in February this year; the agency’s roster includes many popular voice actors such as Yuichi Nakamura, Yuma Uchida, and Nao Toyama. On 5ch’s Geinou/Sports News+ (芸スポ速報+) thread, users exchanged a wide range of opinions — questioning what exactly ‘adjustment disorder’ means, speculating on how management could collapse despite having so many popular talents on the roster, wondering how dissolution happened even though there was a co-representative, and guessing where the agency’s talents might move to next.

Re: #8
Couldn't handle the stress of running the company
10AnonymousOct 13, 2026 20:04
Even with a lineup like Yuichi Nakamura, Yuma Uchida, and Nao Toyama, management was still struggling, huh
13AnonymousOct 13, 2026 20:04
Couldn't they have just handed management over to someone else and kept the company going?
27AnonymousOct 13, 2026 20:08
Re: #13
There is a co-representative, though
41AnonymousOct 13, 2026 20:12
Re: #13
Maybe it's precisely because he couldn't hand it off to someone else that he ended up with adjustment disorder
29AnonymousOct 13, 2026 20:09
I guess the difference from depression is that the cause is clear, and it gets better once that cause is removed
55AnonymousOct 13, 2026 20:14
Re: #29
Just thinking about running the agency probably messes with your head
35AnonymousOct 13, 2026 20:11
Isn't this the agency that's been sheltering Takahiro Sakurai? 🤔
What's gonna happen with that now? 😅
80AnonymousOct 13, 2026 20:22
Re: #35
He left the agency ages ago — back when that whole scandal went down.
38AnonymousOct 13, 2026 20:12
If he's been able to record for FREEDOM ZERO, I guess that means Suzumura's voice acting work itself isn't the problem?
42AnonymousOct 13, 2026 20:12
Re: #38
From how it's worded, it sounds like it's specifically the management side that's the problem

Male voice actors
• Kenichi Suzumura (CEO)
• Yuichi Nakamura
• Yuma Uchida
• Kazuhiro Nakatani
• Shoya Ishige
• Shuichi Uchida

Female voice actors
• Aya Endo
• Nao Toyama
• Ayaka Asai
• Natsumi Kawaida
• Natsumiko Abe
• Akari Tadano

Quite the lineup —
wonder what they'll do now

Re: #57
Nah, honestly every single one of them has a pretty bleak future, don't they?
118AnonymousOct 13, 2026 20:30
Re: #111
The younger Uchida already has Season 4 confirmed, and Nakamura's got Jujutsu Kaisen coming up — but before that happens he might just relocate, or say it's too much hassle and go freelance
130AnonymousOct 13, 2026 20:32
Re: #111
Guys like Nakamura or the younger Uchida could work anywhere
And Nakatani Kazuhiro should be fine as long as the Like a Dragon series keeps going
58AnonymousOct 13, 2026 20:16
He's doing a Gundam movie as the protagonist —
I wonder if recording's already wrapped by now
70AnonymousOct 13, 2026 20:20
Re: #58
I mean, he's already back at work as normal, actually
65AnonymousOct 13, 2026 20:18
Nakamura Yuichi heard about Sugita's experience running his own company after going independent and said he himself could never do that, so he's probably not starting a company
He's already making bank as an individual, and he seems like the type who'd hate having his own gaming/free time eaten up by running a business anyway
177AnonymousOct 13, 2026 20:43
Re: #65
Sugita's seriously impressive, working nonstop — leads, supporting roles, even adult anime, you name it. There's basically no season where you don't see his name somewhere. Good on him for grinding in his prime, but I hope he takes care of his health.
73AnonymousOct 13, 2026 20:21
Places like Morikawa-san's agency or Ken-Yu Office are still around, right?
107AnonymousOct 13, 2026 20:27
Re: #73
For some reason Axl One became a sort of refuge for Baobab people
Though Jun Fukuyama and Shinnosuke Tachibana ended up going independent anyway
75AnonymousOct 13, 2026 20:22
Feels like everyone's going to end up transferring to Sugita's company
78AnonymousOct 13, 2026 20:22
Re: #75
That's a one-man agency, isn't it
81AnonymousOct 13, 2026 20:23
Namikawa-san is also a company president — I wonder if he's doing okay
89AnonymousOct 13, 2026 20:24
Re: #81
That agency had its own controversy too, but I haven't heard anything about him collapsing or anything
82AnonymousOct 13, 2026 20:23
Is Uchida going to move to his sister's agency?
95AnonymousOct 13, 2026 20:24
Re: #82
So does that mean 'Rakko-sensei' (nickname) is going back to where they started?
101AnonymousOct 13, 2026 20:26
Re: #82
If he transfers to Namikawa-san's agency, that'd make them brothers-in-law under the same roof
100AnonymousOct 13, 2026 20:25
There'll probably be people transferring to Sugita's agency, but
now he'll have to deal with scheduling, bookkeeping, PR work and all that — seems like it's going to add a lot of stress for Sugita too
103AnonymousOct 13, 2026 20:26
I always figured Suzumura Kenichi was easygoing and totally immune to mental health issues, but I guess running a company is tough
123AnonymousOct 13, 2026 20:31
Re: #103
Apparently he's the type who never gets angry, so he's probably the type to bottle everything up inside
114AnonymousOct 13, 2026 20:29
Hikasa Yoko also got divorced because she was too busy running her company as president
Suzumura's married too
I guess it's hard to juggle everything while going full throttle on voice acting
Pretty much every voice actor who's been a company president for a long time
ends up stepping back from the front lines in terms of how many roles they take
Morikawa's the only exception still going full steam at the front lines even now.
128AnonymousOct 13, 2026 20:32
Re: #114
Hikasa-san did collapse once — there was that whole 'wait, she's doing All Night Nippon the very next week?' moment
139AnonymousOct 13, 2026 20:35
This agency apparently assigned each talent a dedicated personal manager —
that's a pretty unusual setup for a voice actor agency
143AnonymousOct 13, 2026 20:35
About half of them could easily go freelance
they've already earned enough money to FIRE (retire early)
Well, they're all in high demand so they won't have trouble finding work anyway

Re: #139
That's actually the reason Nakamura transferred before
he said so himself on 'Washaganai' (his radio show)

Background and Key Points of Discussion

“Adjustment disorder” refers to a condition in which a person develops psychological or physical symptoms in response to a specific identifiable stressor; it’s often distinguished from depression in that recovery is expected once that stressor is resolved or removed. Kenichi Suzumura disclosed his own adjustment disorder back in February this year, and this dissolution can be seen as an extension of that same situation. Notably, INTENTION dissolved despite having a co-representative on board, which prompted questions on the thread like “couldn’t they have handed the top job to someone else and kept the company running?” Agencies where a voice actor also serves as company president have seen similar issues before — Yoko Hikasa (health problems) and Tomokazu Sugita (the management burden after going independent) are past examples that came up — and the difficulty of balancing acting work with management duties is a theme that keeps coming up within the industry. As of this article, there’s no official word on whether the agency’s talents will go freelance or move to other agencies, so it remains purely fan speculation for now.
