The story

YouTuber Yutabon (17), who calls himself an “adventurer,” revealed on X (formerly Twitter) that essayist Mayumi Kurata told him, “The future of Japan is in your hands,” sparking discussion on 5ch’s Entertainment/Sports Breaking News+ board. Yutabon first drew attention as an elementary schooler who publicly refused to attend school, and he has increasingly made social and political remarks in recent years. Reactions in the thread were mixed — some praised how much he’s “grown up,” others voiced concern over his past exploitation by his father, and still others pointed out Kurata’s own shifting political stance.

Watching Osaka night-view videos on YouTube beats watching Peace-kun at Omiya Park (a local mascot elephant) any day.

He's still calling himself an "adventurer"?
Wasn't he just a correspondence high schooler?
8AnonymousOct 6, 2026 09:56
He's heading down the Greta Thunberg route now.
9AnonymousOct 6, 2026 09:56
Feels like this guy's gonna skip town and leave Japan in a few years.

Re: #1
Guy's only known online — recommend ignoring him.
13AnonymousOct 6, 2026 09:58
There's always some idiot going on about "entrusting Japan to the young" — that's just passing the buck.
Do something about it yourself.
14AnonymousOct 6, 2026 09:58
The thumbnail that said "Dad got arrested" was peak.
15AnonymousOct 6, 2026 09:59
What even is Yutabon?
As someone pro-immigration, should I be wary of him?
17AnonymousOct 6, 2026 10:01
Re: #15
If you're pro-immigration, I'd recommend checking out Ceuta, Spain (a Spanish enclave that's a migration flashpoint).

Re: #15
He's a guy who keeps pulling stunts for video views — his celebrity-bashing got totally ignored, so he's pivoted to a right-wing angle instead.
24AnonymousOct 6, 2026 10:04
So his real goal is to become a political activist.

Re: #24
Come to think of it, his dad ran for office in Okinawa and lost badly.
Maybe Yutabon sees his current political remarks as
groundwork for the day he's old enough to run himself.

That said, he's still a teenager for now,
so he gets picked up here and there by online news,
but he's not really saying anything new,
and he'll probably just fade into obscurity as he gets older.

Never thought Yutabon would turn out this respectable.
Guess your environment really does matter.

Re: #36
Back around middle school he got invited to a YouTuber's wedding reception
and saw Hezumaryu show up in casual wear, and swore to himself "I must never become an adult like that" (Hezumaryu is a notorious troublemaker YouTuber) —
surrounded by cautionary tales the whole time lol
46AnonymousOct 6, 2026 10:11
Never amounted to anything.
69AnonymousOct 6, 2026 10:22
Re: #46
Yutabon still has potential, but Kurata-ma is a lost cause already.
58AnonymousOct 6, 2026 10:18
It's true Yutabon beats all those self-serving types out there.
88AnonymousOct 6, 2026 10:31
Re: #58
You really think this guy won't get consumed by self-interest once he's got power?
101AnonymousOct 6, 2026 10:38
Re: #58
Pretty sure nobody in Japan ranks lower than this guy out here begging (referring to his panhandling livestream stunt).
67AnonymousOct 6, 2026 10:21
Come to think of it, what happened to this kid's dad?
73AnonymousOct 6, 2026 10:23
Re: #67
He's probably out there posting every day pretending to be his idiot son.
75AnonymousOct 6, 2026 10:23
Infamy beats anonymity.

Re: #75
Saw someone's post online and now you're parroting it like it's your one trick lol
76AnonymousOct 6, 2026 10:24
Looked it up and got a microwaveable hot water bottle sold by Hakugen Earth. ("Yutapon" is also the brand name of this hot-water-bottle product.)

Re: #76
That "Yuta-PON" thing existed before the one in the thread title
— the thread title says "Yuta-BON"
77AnonymousOct 6, 2026 10:26
I seriously thought his name was "Yutapon" this whole time.
It's "Yutabon"? He must've changed it.
84AnonymousOct 6, 2026 10:29
Re: #77
As far as I know, he's been "Yutabon" since elementary school.
By the way, King Slime goes by "Yubon."
129AnonymousOct 6, 2026 10:49
"Damens Walker" (Kurata's famous manga about women who date deadbeat men) falling this far somehow checks out.

Re: #129
Really shows people need to keep learning, huh.
136AnonymousOct 6, 2026 10:51
Looking back, this was probably the most fun period of his life,
and the poor kid got used by his trash father to earn the family's keep.
It was flat-out abuse — child services, the board of education, and the police should've come down hard on that trash father back then.

Re: #136
He turns 18 this year — he's an adult now, not a kid.

Background and Key Points

Yutabon first drew attention around 2018 as an “elementary schooler who chose not to attend school,” operating under his father’s direction. Turning 18 this year means he’s no longer a minor, and he’s also someone whose political remarks are getting noticed more often lately. Mayumi Kurata works as a manga artist and essayist; she was once known for leaning liberal, but in recent years appears to have shifted her stance. The thread touched on this shift, but since that shift can only be verified by following her own statements over time, it would be premature to form a fixed judgment from this one post alone. There’s also a view of him as “a victim exploited by his father,” which reflects his past activities and is treated as a separate issue from his current standing.
