The story
Even as October 2026 rolls on, the PS5 version of Forza Horizon 6 still has no announced release date. On 5ch’s hardware/industry (“Geha”) board, a thread that started with doubts about the PS5’s power and memory requirements spiraled into debate over the series’ sales performance on Steam, and even the balance of power between Xbox and PlayStation. More than the missing release date itself, posters were divided over the reasons behind the series’ push into multiplatform release.
What people said
It's running fine on the Xbox Series S, which only has 10GB of memory, lol
If it's pulling numbers like this on Steam, which is just a side market anyway, that's more than enough

Is the PS5 really crashing in price this hard?
Why isn't it selling even at that price?
At this point it's basically a full-fledged third-party developer, huh
Steam's just a storefront, lol
Third-party where?
Even if you buy the Steam version, you still just end up going through the clunky Steam launcher to connect to Xbox anyway. You clearly have no clue, lmao
Guess you're too stressed out to even catch sarcasm
Oh, is this that incident where it's fine when Microsoft does it, but when Sony made a PSN account mandatory, it somehow blew up into a huge controversy, lol
It sold 3 million copies on Steam alone? LOL
It's the best-selling game on Steam by total revenue in 2026, after all
Guess you don't need to keep stalking FH6 threads anymore then
MS and Sony don't care where it sells, as long as it sells somewhere
No way that's true, idiot
They have to hand Valve a 30% cut just for the privilege of selling there
Peak concurrent players: 300,000 → 20,000
Yeah, totally unnecessary, lol
What about TOKEN with its 3-digit player counts, or Marathon then?
Whether you shove it through retail or push it on mobile, that 20-30% cut is baked into the price from the start. Greenhorn.
The point is that if FH6 sells through the MS Store instead, that whole 20-30% cut stays in Microsoft's own pocket. You're too dumb for words, lol
If there's no itasha (cars wrapped in anime-character decals), half the appeal's gone anyway
Itasha are driving around everywhere in the game, though
If you want to see itasha, just head to the drift zone — they're pretty much always there
They went to the trouble of setting it in Japan, and this is how Japanese users repay them…
Steam really ought to look into this properly, don't you think?
Then never open this thread again either
Background and Key Points of Debate
The Forza Horizon series has traditionally centered on Xbox and PC, but in recent years Microsoft has been pushing its major titles toward multiplatform releases, and this PS5 version fits that trend. The thread weighed the series’ standing based on PS5 hardware requirements and Steam sales figures, but since tracking methods differ by platform, it’s hard to judge the series’ overall performance from Steam numbers alone. Some comments about the reasoning behind the business decisions also included unverified rumors about the internal circumstances of a departed executive, so this article leaves out those unsubstantiated personal claims. As for the claim that review scores differ by country, the sample and timeframe weren’t specified, so that shouldn’t be taken as a blanket generalization.
