So many voice actors lately.
Once AI Hayato started feeling like some cheesy Showa-era sentai hero show, I lost it right from this very first episode.

Blessed are those who still remember the tale of Byston Well.

Re: #4
The great actor Wakamoto Noriaki already died.

This Wakamoto Norio's a fake.
6AnonymousOct 4, 2026 23:08
I thought he was the narrator for the second half of 'Let's Drink at the Neighborhood Chinese Restaurant.'
7AnonymousOct 4, 2026 23:08
Hanazawa-san's dad is voiced by Wakamoto too, y'know (´・ω・`)
13AnonymousOct 4, 2026 23:12
Re: #7
Anago-san's wife is a Hanazawa too, isn't she.

Buruaaaa…
Cutie-chaaaan

Seriously?! lol
10AnonymousOct 4, 2026 23:10
This just gives the 'Ichiki Purin' bit more material to work with (meaning of the reference unclear — likely an in-joke).
12AnonymousOct 4, 2026 23:11
Re: #1
It was already a comedy skit back in his Detective Conan days.
14AnonymousOct 4, 2026 23:12
What anime is this from?

Re: #14
W-wait, is that the Prison Titan from Demon Slayer?! (a joke mashing up Demon Slayer and Attack on Titan)
17AnonymousOct 4, 2026 23:13
The live-discussion thread was going wild with 'Anago-san' comments.

That's a pretty low bar, huh.
22AnonymousOct 4, 2026 23:15
I wonder if I'm even allowed to say this isn't funny.
23AnonymousOct 4, 2026 23:15
Super AI
Simultaneous interpretation
This keeps getting worse.
Should've just stopped after part one.
24AnonymousOct 4, 2026 23:15
Somebody please tell him this bit stopped landing a while ago…
28AnonymousOct 4, 2026 23:16
I'm sick of Hayato and these dub-style voice actors.
30AnonymousOct 4, 2026 23:17
If you just think of it like 'Otokojuku' (an over-the-top macho gag manga), it's actually enjoyable.
34AnonymousOct 4, 2026 23:17
Wakamoto and Chiba could totally wreck the show… but is that really fine?
36AnonymousOct 4, 2026 23:19
I'd love to see Fuguta and Anago-san sit down at the same table (both Sazae-san characters).
38AnonymousOct 4, 2026 23:20
Who cares about that — more importantly, what are they gonna do about this dragging story?
39AnonymousOct 4, 2026 23:21
Sorry to keep you waiting, Son Goku. (a classic Dragon Ball line)
45AnonymousOct 4, 2026 23:23
Re: #39
When's Nozawa Masako (Goku's voice actress) gonna join in?
40AnonymousOct 4, 2026 23:21
This drama's turning into a dubbed movie — way too star-studded lol
Wakamoto's voice showing up cracked me up
He's gotta be the final boss, right?
44AnonymousOct 4, 2026 23:23
Next thing you know they'll bring out Freeza.
54AnonymousOct 4, 2026 23:30
Re: #44
He'll show up in person dressed as Jeff from Oishinbo 🙄
55AnonymousOct 4, 2026 23:31
Wakamoto's voice is like dousing everything in way too much Tabasco.
62AnonymousOct 4, 2026 23:32
Re: #55
If so, let's throw in Ikeda Shuichi (Char's voice) and Ginga Banjou too.
59AnonymousOct 4, 2026 23:32
Sorry, but I laughed my ass off.
As a drama it's terrible, but that foreign actor and Wakamoto are such a mismatch, with Wakamoto going full-on in his signature style.
74AnonymousOct 4, 2026 23:40
Re: #59
No matter what non-human role it is, the second that voice speaks, it just turns into 'Wakamoto.'
We're all just conditioned at this point.
61AnonymousOct 4, 2026 23:32
Back when he was in Oishinbo, Wakamoto was still normal.
63AnonymousOct 4, 2026 23:33
Re: #61
Yamaoka: 'Call Okahoshi!!' 🙄
70AnonymousOct 4, 2026 23:39
The reason voice-actor delivery works is because it's anime or foreign-film dubs.
Use it in a Japanese drama and there's zero realism or tension.
It almost feels like a joke.

They didn't need to stick with voice actors this time either — someone like Yoshida Kotaro would've been fine.
77AnonymousOct 4, 2026 23:41
I really hate this guy's narration.
79AnonymousOct 4, 2026 23:42
Re: #77
He used to be normal, you know.
80AnonymousOct 4, 2026 23:43
Re: #77
Chiba Shigeru and the Gendo guy (Tanaka Hideyuki, Evangelion's Gendo) are kind of the same, though.
92AnonymousOct 5, 2026 00:00
Total pandering to the seiyuu-otaku crowd (diehard voice-actor fanboys).
105AnonymousOct 5, 2026 00:21
Re: #92
The so-called seiyuu-otaku probably don't even care about this generation of actors — they're old folks.

Background and Key Points of the Discussion

“VIVANT” is a hard-edged TBS Sunday Theater ensemble drama starring Eguchi Yosuke, revolving around public security, the Self-Defense Forces, and a terrorist organization. In Season 2, the show has leaned again into the “surprise cameo by a star voice actor” device that generated buzz in previous installments, and Wakamoto Norio’s appearance has pushed that further. What split the thread was whether a voice actor’s signature “raw voice” — an asset in anime or foreign-film dubbing where distinctive delivery is a strength — instead feels out of place in a live-action Japanese drama built around realism. Comments like #70, arguing that “it’s a vocal style that only works because it’s anime or dubbed foreign films, and using it in a Japanese drama kills the tension,” sat alongside more favorable takes like #59’s “it’s fun, I can just laugh along with the vibe” — showing a gap between the production’s intent and how viewers actually received it. It’s also worth noting that the thread itself never explains exactly why “Anago-san” became a trending term — that detail comes from posters relaying secondhand reports of social media reactions.
