The story

ANGERME’s Ise Rerapi wrote on her blog that “I think Hello! Project values singing, but I want ANGERME to take dance just as seriously” — a remark that sparked discussion on 5ch’s Hello! Project board. Given Hello! Project’s strong tradition of prioritizing vocals, her comments about her dedication to dance drew a range of reactions in the thread, from supportive posts like “ANGERME should just do things their own way” to sharper criticism such as “they say dance matters but they’re not even in sync” and “they should be judged on their singing too.” The discussion expanded into comparisons with other groups like Morning Musume ’26 and Juice=Juice, with posters likening various groups to armies, pirate crews, and more.

I think singing matters a lot in Hello! Project,

but I want ANGERME to take dance really seriously too (basically, I want us to be a group that can do both well) — I still want to keep working hard on that.

Also, I really love dancing,

ANGERME doesn't need to be chained to Hello! Project's crappy traditions and hangups
ANGERME should just go their own way
Who cares about Morning Musume or Juice=Juice, mind your own business, we've got ours
Screw what Momusu otaku or Juice otaku think, ignore 'em
ANGERME should walk a path that belongs only to ANGERME, Rerapi

Re: #2
So what exactly is ANGERME's 'own path'? Give me specifics
5AnonymousSep 18, 2026 23:14
ANGERME's dance sync is by far the best out there, come on
6AnonymousSep 18, 2026 23:14
Didn't Endo (from the TV show) literally say ANGERME's dancing was terrible?
7AnonymousSep 18, 2026 23:14
Morning Musume '26 is an army, Juice=Juice is an army too, BEYOOOOONDS is an army as well
ANGERME is a pirate crew — not an army — and since they're not an army, they're not bound by Hello! Project's military code
Tsubaki Factory is a band of mountain bandits
8AnonymousSep 18, 2026 23:15
Are you seriously taking Endo's on-air lip service at face value? lol
10AnonymousSep 18, 2026 23:16
You're the leader, so do it your way
ANGERME is free
11AnonymousSep 18, 2026 23:17
Indeed

Re: #11
The way I see it, Shimoitani — whose dancing looks shakiest — seems to be the only one happy about this, which is kind of rough

They talk about dance dance dance, but they've got no stamina — dancing just one moderately intense number leaves them so winded they're heaving for breath
15AnonymousSep 18, 2026 23:21
Guess Rerapi's finally starting to get the hang of dancing?

OCHA NORMA is a caravan (a trading caravan)
Rosy Chronicle is an army
Hello! Project Kenshuusei is a military academy

Re: #16
How is Rosy Chronicle an army? That's basically a school club
17AnonymousSep 18, 2026 23:23
She spent a long time being unsure, after all
If you're gonna commit, go all in and see it through to the end
18AnonymousSep 18, 2026 23:23
Yumikei let it slip that Hello! Project doesn't even have dance lessons
21AnonymousSep 18, 2026 23:23
Don't say 'I want to try hard' — say that after you've actually done it
23AnonymousSep 18, 2026 23:25
Hello! Project isn't an army
Never heard of such a soft, lax 'army' in my life lol

The Korean agencies where everyone lives in a dorm and drills from morning to night every single day — that's a real army

With Sasaki and Takeuchi gone, the dancing lost its appeal
25AnonymousSep 18, 2026 23:30
Enough with the dance-focus thing already, I want to hear solid, stable singing
27AnonymousSep 18, 2026 23:31
They should make better use of Tamenaga, who came up through a dance school
45AnonymousSep 18, 2026 23:57
Singing like Gian from Doraemon (i.e., tone-deaf), dancing all over the place, and no real resolve — who's supposed to stan that?
47AnonymousSep 18, 2026 23:59
Re: #45
Rerapi's got resolve though
48AnonymousSep 18, 2026 23:59
(Endo said on the show she wants the dancing more in sync, so let's just brand it 'out of sync' and pile on…!)

Re: #48
Is there even a millimeter of an argument for listening to the feel-good opinions of ANGERME fanboys ('ankasu' — a mocking nickname for ANGERME's fandom) over an actual professional's opinion?
50AnonymousSep 19, 2026 00:06
There's not a single member in ANGERME who dances better than Mipple (a member's nickname)

Momusu-otaku detector: activated
52AnonymousSep 19, 2026 00:09
Shimo-san isn't really a 'dance member,' she just happened to take dance lessons
Having had lessons doesn't automatically mean you're good
63AnonymousSep 19, 2026 00:14
Re: #52
There are actually quite a few members who took dance lessons since childhood but get zero credit for it
56AnonymousSep 19, 2026 00:10
They're so fixated on moving a lot that their facial expressions and stage presence rank near the bottom even by Hello! Project standards
People say the dancing's out of sync, but the singing is so much more out of sync that the dance issues barely stand out in comparison
61AnonymousSep 19, 2026 00:12
Re: #56
Wow, surprised you're throwing singing into this evaluation now
So compared to Morning Musume '26, Juice=Juice, and Tsubaki Factory, is the dancing in sync or not? Just give me your honest take on that
57AnonymousSep 19, 2026 00:10
Even the ANGERME fanboys ('ankasu') don't seem sold on the idea that Tamenaga and Shimoitani are the 'dance members,' lol
68AnonymousSep 19, 2026 00:19
Re: #57
ANGERME fans all agree Hashisako is the top dance member among the current lineup — but once she graduates it defaults to Tamenaga, and everyone's wondering what to do about that

Background and Key Points of This Discussion

Hello! Project has long upheld a tradition across its groups that prioritizes “singing,” and Morning Musume and Juice=Juice are often judged more on vocal ability than on dance. Against that backdrop, Ise’s blog post — declaring that “ANGERME wants to take dance seriously too” — signaled her wish to raise dance’s importance within the group. While many in the thread welcomed the remark, opinions split sharply over how well-synced the group’s dancing actually is and how individual members’ skills stack up. Some pointed to comparisons with other groups (Morning Musume ’26, Juice=Juice, etc.) to argue that “ANGERME’s dancing still isn’t in sync,” while others countered that “of course each group has its own color.” A claim that a staff member on a TV program had pointed out sync issues with the dancing was also cited, with posters split on how seriously to take that remark. One thing readers shouldn’t mistake: these comparisons aren’t an official stance from the agency or the groups themselves — they’re purely fan impressions being traded back and forth.
