On the 4th, the Japan Swimming Federation announced its candidates for the FY2027 Japan national artistic swimming team, and Niina Tadokoro (16, Imura ASC), whose father is musician Diamond☆Yukai, was selected. Standing tall at 172cm, she placed 4th in the solo free routine and 2nd in both the duet technical routine and team free routine at the Japan Championships in May. On 5ch, reactions ranged from pointing out that her height likely comes from her mother’s build, to chatter about her famous father, to confusion over whether she’s the daughter of actress Rieko Miura.
On the 4th, the Japan Swimming Federation held a board of managing directors meeting in Tokyo and announced its candidates for the FY2027 Japan national artistic swimming (AS) team.
Among the team members selected was Niina Tadokoro (16, Imura ASC), whose father is musician Diamond☆Yukai.
Tadokoro, who makes the most of her 172cm height, placed 4th in the solo free routine (FR) and 2nd in both the duet technical routine (TR) and team FR at the Japan Championships in May. Watching her performance from the venue, her father smiled and said, “The guts she’s got, she gets from me.”
Wait, is Diamond Yukai the guy from "You Are Shock"? (the Kinnikuman anime theme song)

The one sport left in this day and age that still forces a high-cut swimsuit on you
10AnonymousNov 5, 2026 01:44
This actually strikes me as a pretty huge deal
14AnonymousNov 5, 2026 01:47
She's not Rieko Miura's kid — she's from his second marriage, no?
15AnonymousNov 5, 2026 01:49
Nah, actually… let's skip talking about Kiyoshi and Comma for once
16AnonymousNov 5, 2026 01:50
Synchro always struck me as insanely hard — eating a ton, training for hours in the pool plus group practice, then nonstop weight training on land
Honestly, this is seriously impressive
She's got a real shot at making the LA Olympics roster
18AnonymousNov 5, 2026 01:52
Wait, didn't he have twin boys, like "Raion" or something?
35AnonymousNov 5, 2026 02:13
Re: #18
She's their older sister
21AnonymousNov 5, 2026 01:56
Fun fact: the correct Japanese spelling of "diamond" is actually "ダイアモンド" (daiamondo), not the common "ダイヤモンド" (daiyamondo) — there's no "y" sound in the original word
23AnonymousNov 5, 2026 01:59
So the one named Rion or Raion or whatever is a boy? Guess this girl got the normal treatment then
24AnonymousNov 5, 2026 01:59
He mentioned on Tetsuko's Room that they're living apart because the mom went with their daughter to Osaka for her training — glad that worked out. I think he said it's just him and the sons in the Kanto area now
25AnonymousNov 5, 2026 02:00
Imura — that's the place with that notoriously brutal coach, right?
26AnonymousNov 5, 2026 02:01
Bet you anything in a few years she'll be doing some travel special with Hana Sugisaki or whoever
70AnonymousNov 5, 2026 04:14
Re: #26
I don't get what you're saying
27AnonymousNov 5, 2026 02:01
Yutaka Tadokoro (his real name) — doesn't have a single song the general public actually knows
29AnonymousNov 5, 2026 02:06
Nice. I'm 176cm, so I could just barely hold my own against her
31AnonymousNov 5, 2026 02:07
Even with older parents, the kid still ended up with incredible talent
36AnonymousNov 5, 2026 02:13
I keep misreading it as "acoustic" swimming instead of "artistic"
37AnonymousNov 5, 2026 02:15
Guys who actually married the idol they used to idolize → Diamond Yukai, Kimutaku (Takuya Kimura)
Honorable mention: Yasushi Akimoto

YAJU's Bizarre Adventure: Diamond Is Unbreakable
Let the voice of love, Yajussenpaiya~
With all our gathered "inmu" power, transcending even time (1999-2026) (a mashup joke riffing on JoJo's Bizarre Adventure and 5ch's cult "inmu" meme copypasta)
42AnonymousNov 5, 2026 02:22
Yikes
Her old man will be 68 when she turns 20
47AnonymousNov 5, 2026 02:27
Wait, isn't "Diamond" literally his surname?
48AnonymousNov 5, 2026 02:31
Impressive, considering Yukai himself isn't tall
57AnonymousNov 5, 2026 03:04
Re: #48
Because his wife is taller than Yukai is
49AnonymousNov 5, 2026 02:34
Anyway, does Japan even have the chops to qualify for the LA Olympics right now?
52AnonymousNov 5, 2026 02:43
He doesn't have a single hit song, yet the public still recognizes him as a rock-and-roller
He shows up in the media as a funny character, not as a singer
Diamond☆Yukai is basically the Reiwa-era Yuya Uchida
53AnonymousNov 5, 2026 02:43
Didn't he and his wife move to Osaka together around the time she started junior high?
54AnonymousNov 5, 2026 02:45
As for me,
I'm Diamond☆Fuyukai 🫡 (a pun: "Yukai" means "cheerful," "Fuyukai" means "unpleasant")
58AnonymousNov 5, 2026 03:05
For a while there, NACK5 radio was wall-to-wall Seitaro Ohno, Diamond☆Yukai, Taka Egawa, and Yuki Reinhart
59AnonymousNov 5, 2026 03:14
If she were really Rieko Miura's kid, she wouldn't be 172cm lol
79AnonymousNov 5, 2026 05:42
Why does everyone who does synchro end up with the same face?
82AnonymousNov 5, 2026 06:04
Re: #79
They all cake on that coloring-book-style makeup, of course they end up looking alike
Background and Key Points of This Topic
Being named an artistic swimming “national team candidate” means being placed in the development squad that precedes selection for the actual team sent to events like the Olympics and World Championships, and Imura ASC is known as a powerhouse club that has produced many of Japan’s top athletes. Where thread opinions diverged most was over the family details: Niina Tadokoro is not the daughter of Diamond☆Yukai’s ex-wife, actress Rieko Miura, as some assumed, but a child from his second marriage — a point corrected partway through the thread. As for her 172cm height, some posters noted it likely comes from her mother’s build rather than her father’s. It’s a case that shows how easily speculation spreads just because someone is a celebrity’s child. The athlete’s own competitive results — strong finishes at the Japan Championships — are a fact that tends to get buried under the family gossip, but are worth keeping in mind.
