The story
KONAMI’s official channel posted its “KONAMI Direct,” which stalled at just 30,000 views, and the individually featured trailers for the two new titles, ‘Revenoir’ and ‘Rhapsody,’ each fell short of 10,000 views — a fact that became a hot topic on 5ch’s hardware/industry board. While some in the thread declared the low view counts a “flop,” others pushed back, arguing that video views don’t necessarily correlate with actual sales. The discussion also touched on complaints about underwhelming graphics, interest in the development staff’s backgrounds, and console-war-style bickering over the games’ lack of Switch support, turning it into a discussion that went well beyond a simple evaluation of the new titles.
What people said
They were on a roll lately, but this is guaranteed to flop.
Especially the JRPG one — it hasn't even broken 3,000 views, nobody's taking it seriously.
Looks like something that would've come out back in the PS2 era.
But that's the kind of game I want to play.
On Switch 2.
It probably would've sold decently on Switch, right?
That's why they're dressing it up like a Nintendo Direct to fool people.
This guy says he's gonna go evangelize for it lol
Just be honest — you don't have to hype up everything just because Nintendo got snubbed.
Be real, you're not interested and you're not buying it, right?
At what age would you actually buy it?
KONAMI never struck me as having an anime-otaku image.
Did they poach a producer from Bandai Namco or something?
KONAMI's moves have really changed lately, huh.
Maybe some producer inside the company is going wild.
That Bandai Namco vibe is definitely there.
Tokimeki Memorial, Mitsumete Knight, Momo Tenshi, Otogi Jushi Akazukin, Kirarin Revolution, The Prince of Tennis, etc.
It's gonna flop.
This one's no good.
Do you honestly think this is gonna sell?

View counts don't mean anything.
That doesn't mean low view counts are fine, though.
But nobody's buying it 🐷
Even if they'd made it Switch-focused, a game that won't sell just won't sell.
Switch isn't some magic console where everything sells.
You actually think it's gonna sell? lol
No need to beg for it to flop — it's gonna flop on its own, so just sit back and wait, lol
Once it's cheap secondhand, that is.
That mindset is dangerous.
Switch is going to stop getting physical releases too, eventually.
It kept delivering visuals that made you go 'oh, nice' every time.
Motooka got mocked, but pulling off results with Silent Hill shows that, worn down or not, he's still ex-Nintendo.
Well, the Revenoir team has an ex-Square Enix person on it, so yeah.
They worked on stuff like LoV and Gunslinger Stratos, not console titles, so it's unclear how far they can take it.
The Rhapsody team seems to have someone who's done a bunch at KONAMI — directed Tokimeki Memorial 3, worked on the Vita remake of the ARPG Osama Monogatari (King's Tale), and more.
KONAMI's old guard has probably been away from console dev for so long it'll end up like that rough recent Contra.
Well, until release, everything's a 'blockbuster,' of course.
But I feel like the first Drakengard was kind of like this too, so depending on the content it could turn into a slow-burn seller.
Either way, unless you're a die-hard KONAMI ('Konmai') fanboy, this is the kind of RPG you wait for a sale on.
If this is what we're getting, wouldn't rebooting an old IP have generated more buzz?
If that were a PS5 exclusive, I'd buy a PS5 for it.
Honestly, I'd love a new game built on that system.
It was more polished than Suikoden IV in both graphics and mechanics.
If anything, Suikoden IV felt like it existed just to make Rhapsodia more fun to play.
A lot of Japanese publishers have given up on improving graphics since it doesn't translate into money ( 'ㅅ')
And this is what came out of that? Isn't that the worst part?
Don't they basically have no exclusive titles though?
This one gets 10,000 views and… 200 copies? lol
Guess the real question is whether we'll even be able to see the numbers.
Background and Key Points of This Discussion
In recent years KONAMI has been rolling out a steady stream of new titles that build on IPs and know-how it’s cultivated in the past, and this reveal of ‘Revenoir’ and ‘Rhapsody’ is part of that same trend. As pointed out in the thread, judging eventual sales purely from view counts right after a video drops is inherently difficult — commenters cited Nintendo’s own official ‘ELDEN RING’ intro video topping 1 million views while the game itself sold only around 20,000 copies, suggesting that even high view counts don’t guarantee big sales, so drawing a direct line between views and sales calls for caution. There was also discussion of the development staff’s backgrounds (including a former Square Enix staffer and someone who has worked on titles like ‘Tokimeki Memorial 3’ within KONAMI), reflecting a degree of genuine anticipation and evaluation of the new games themselves. At the same time, posts stoking console-war-style hostility over the lack of Switch support were mixed in, making this thread a blend of genuine critique of the games and inter-console antagonism.
