Morning Musume. Leader Miki Nonaka to Join Every Fall Tour Date, With Care for Her Bad Back

From our other sites

The story

An official announcement revealed that Miki Nonaka, leader of Morning Musume.’26, will join every date of the fall tour after consulting with doctors — though she’ll sit out certain songs to protect her back. The statement also notes her lineup of performances could change depending on how she’s doing. On 5ch’s live discussion threads, reactions were split: some fans hoped she wouldn’t push herself too hard, while others fired off harsher takes like “isn’t it time she just announced her graduation,” alongside comments about how demanding the choreography is and references to past members whose conditions worsened from performing.

So it's partial participation, but she's doing every show?
I wonder if that's the case for the rest of 18th gen besides Sugihara too?
7AnonymousSep 1, 2026 18:04
With the leader in this kind of shape, aren't fans honestly getting frustrated?
10AnonymousSep 1, 2026 18:05
She's probably going to be a legend down the line, and this is her last tour
so as leader she's got to show up and save face
11AnonymousSep 1, 2026 18:06
It's not healing at this point
Just announce her graduation already
12AnonymousSep 1, 2026 18:06
Some are saying this also gives her time to pass the leader know-how on to Homamei (fan nickname for a member)

No no, if you're gonna perform, do it properly

After consulting further with doctors, we will continue to take full care regarding
the strain on her back, and while limiting her participation in some songs,
she is scheduled to join all tour dates.

Please note that her performance lineup may change depending on her condition and progress going forward.

Can she even handle flying?

Re: #17
Can't you read Japanese?

She's got a herniated disc and she's still dancing lol
It's basically like she's trying to make it worse lol

Re: #18
Morning Musume. choreography is easy enough to dance through back pain

Re: #22
Not Sayako Makita's garbage choreography —
Endu's choreography is legit brutal
19AnonymousSep 1, 2026 18:09
So she's dancing with a corset cinched on tight?
23AnonymousSep 1, 2026 18:10
How much does "some songs" actually mean, I wonder
She'll probably still do about half, right?
24AnonymousSep 1, 2026 18:10
What do you mean "continue"
Just quit already, for real
28AnonymousSep 1, 2026 18:12
Going by how it was with Risa Irie in spring 2025, she probably only performs in about 6 songs, so if Nonaka fans are heading to the fall tour, they should probably go in thinking "I'll be happy just confirming my oshi is alive"
31AnonymousSep 1, 2026 18:12
She shouldn't push herself — she could just do the "Sawayaka Gorou" bit (a lighthearted cameo-appearance gag from a variety show) at each event instead

Re: #32
Comments like this from her own fans are exactly why my motivation to support her keeps dropping
40AnonymousSep 1, 2026 18:17
Endu's choreography isn't even that special — Beyoo and Angerme do it too, right?
50AnonymousSep 1, 2026 18:28
Re: #40
A trainer watched "Lonely" and said the amount of movement in it was insane
said making someone sing into a mic while doing that is just brutal
46AnonymousSep 1, 2026 18:23
A future where she does the fall tour but can't make it to the spring graduation tour
47AnonymousSep 1, 2026 18:24
So she's cleared to fly and ride the Shinkansen now?
Maybe she's the only one getting a Green Car seat or business class?
48AnonymousSep 1, 2026 18:27
The burden on 18th gen is way too heavy
Just quit already
51AnonymousSep 1, 2026 18:32
It's fine if the members who are singing just do simple choreography
52AnonymousSep 1, 2026 18:32
With new members in the mix too, there'll probably be more songs with lighter choreography
56AnonymousSep 1, 2026 18:34
In case Nonaka suddenly has to sit out, they'll need to learn two versions of every song she's in
If 18th gen burns out, it's on Nonaka

Re: #56
She's barely performing anyway, so that's not really gonna happen

Background and Key Points of the Discussion

Miki Nonaka will take part in the tour with a trimmed-down song list because of her back condition, but this kind of arrangement — “joining every show while sitting out select songs” — has precedent within Hello! Project, and commenters point to Risa Irie’s spring 2025 tour (where her performances were cut to around six songs) as a comparison. It’s easy to miss but worth noting that this decision came after consulting doctors, and the official statement explicitly says the details could change depending on her condition. The thread’s split opinions came down to a conflict between fans who supported her performing despite the risk and those who felt she should announce graduation if the symptoms persist, with how much the choreography can realistically be scaled back also becoming a point of debate. It’s also worth noting that neither the thread nor the official announcement has specified an exact diagnosis or details of her recovery, so a lot of the commentary is speculation.
