ANGERME Snubbed for Fall Budokan Show — 5ch: “No Way Today’s ANGERME Fills Budokan”

From our other sites

The story

In the venue announcement for Hello! Project’s big fall shows, Juice=Juice, Tsubaki Factory, and BEYOOOOONDS were chosen for Nippon Budokan, while ANGERME was relegated to the PIA Arena slot. ANGERME just held a solo Budokan show this past spring, but on 5ch there were repeated claims that turnout back then was weak, with comments like “today’s ANGERME can’t fill Budokan” standing out. The discussion spread from whether the venue size made sense to the impact of Haruka Hirayama and Hana Goto leaving the group.

Obviously. There's no way today's ANGERME fills Budokan. They'd end up with a half-empty venue disaster.

Re: #3
I thought Budokan was supposed to be the Hirayama/Goto graduation show.
5AnonymousSep 1, 2026 17:09
Spring's Budokan show only pulled 4,000 people with 1,000 for the nationwide live viewing — unless the agency's lost its mind, they're not doing it again.

Re: #5
They couldn't have decided whether to do it based on spring's results — the booking was made last year.

Re: #5
4,000 might be an exaggeration, but the 1,000 figure is a real tally, so it's not funny.
6AnonymousSep 1, 2026 17:09
ANGERME fans were saying it'd be Yokohama Arena with no graduations ("otaku"-fan chatter, referring to Yokohama Arena).
7AnonymousSep 1, 2026 17:10
Attendance numbers weren't even disclosed back in spring, so yeah, no way they're doing it again.

100 Reasons Why ANGERME Can Never Beat Juice=Juice, As Felt at Their Budokan Show
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MwAZ4XU-9L8

As a "Hallo-oji" (an older male Hello!Project fan) who's always favored ANGERME within the group, I'm sharing my painful thoughts.

– It really wasn't full at all
– The arena seats were sparse
– About the same turnout as Up Up Girls (Kari)'s Budokan show
– It lacked star power
– The setlist/structure was terrible
– It's a rough team when Tamenaga is batting cleanup

Funny how 'Ise-jurumu' (a nickname implying Ise is the last one propping up the group) loses another member every time you check in.

Kawana Keronnu: "This is just my personal dream for ANGERME going forward, but I'd rather do a live-house tour than play some huge venue."

Re: #11
Why not just disband already?
17AnonymousSep 1, 2026 17:20
Budokan gets booked under the artist's name, so there's no such thing as "losing out" to other groups within the agency.
22AnonymousSep 1, 2026 17:22
Re: #17
What are you talking about? Sure, that's technically true, but we only find out about it now. Old man, they haven't been popular for a while now, right?
21AnonymousSep 1, 2026 17:21
After that 4,000-person turnout last time, even the crappy agency probably realized Budokan is a stretch for ANGERME now. They just have to build the fanbase back up little by little.

Re: #21
It's disbandment. There's no upside left.
33AnonymousSep 1, 2026 17:27
Let's flip it around and do K Arena instead (K Arena Yokohama, a new large venue) — beat Juice=Juice to it and be first.
43AnonymousSep 1, 2026 17:33
Re: #33
Even a Level 3 venue is already half-empty at this rate.
39AnonymousSep 1, 2026 17:31
At this rate, a suitably-sized venue for them feels like Pacifico Yokohama at best.
46AnonymousSep 1, 2026 17:35
Re: #39
Pacifico would just barely fill up, but the sense of decline from "dropping down to Pacifico" would disappoint the casual fans ("DD," fans who like multiple members/groups) even more and drive them away, so it's questionable whether it'd actually fill.
44AnonymousSep 1, 2026 17:34
Tamenaga being the cleanup hitter is no joke — she's the one who makes it look decent.
47AnonymousSep 1, 2026 17:36
Re: #44
Don't just state the obvious like that.
48AnonymousSep 1, 2026 17:36
They should let them do it no matter how empty it'd be — if they don't at least keep up appearances, even more fans will leave.
50AnonymousSep 1, 2026 17:37
Re: #48
They've already left, that's the thing.
57AnonymousSep 1, 2026 17:39
As for ANGERME, it's like… exactly as expected, or maybe even worse than expected.

Which will be in worse shape in two years, ANGERME or Juice=Juice?

Re: #57
Hirayama and Goto have long since been gone.
61AnonymousSep 1, 2026 17:40
The real thing to watch now is who'll be the third to leave after Hirayama and Goto.
72AnonymousSep 1, 2026 17:43
Re: #61
Except for Nagano, none of them can do anything but cling to ANGERME for their talent careers, so the next departure is still a long way off.
70AnonymousSep 1, 2026 17:43
Juice=Juice would've ended up in the same state if Danbara and Inoue had quit early too, but they stuck around and banked some viral buzz, so the two groups' fortunes went in opposite directions.
87AnonymousSep 1, 2026 17:47
Re: #70
It really is a stark contrast. "Danbara and Inoue, please don't quit~" versus "Hirayama and Goto, hurry up and give up on it~"
78AnonymousSep 1, 2026 17:44
Give them Kotomi as a boost already (a "tekoire" move — transferring in a member to prop up a struggling group).
81AnonymousSep 1, 2026 17:45
Re: #78
Don't make any more sacrifices.
85AnonymousSep 1, 2026 17:47
Is the ANGERME disbandment concert happening yet?
92AnonymousSep 1, 2026 17:49
Re: #85
Where would they even hold it? Toyosu?
90AnonymousSep 1, 2026 17:48
Well, whatever the individual reasons, the root cause is completely the fall of Hirayama and Goto. The group totally collapsed.
96AnonymousSep 1, 2026 17:50
Re: #90
The fact that they fell from grace points to problems with the group's setup — it's not like the two of them did anything wrong.

Background and Key Points of This Topic

Venues for Hello!Project’s major shows are said to be booked by the agency under an artist’s name based on projected ticket demand, and commenters on the thread noted that “Budokan is booked under the artist’s name — it’s not some lottery between groups.” ANGERME has gone through the departures of core members Haruka Hirayama and Hana Goto, and posters cited the turnout at this spring’s Budokan show (reportedly around 4,000) and live-viewing audience (reportedly around 1,000) as evidence that turnout for the group’s next big show would likely be tough. However, these figures come from hearsay within the thread, not an official tally released by the agency or the group, which readers should be careful not to mistake for confirmed data. The discussion expanded to include Pacifico Yokohama as a possible venue, but all of this remains fan speculation rather than confirmed information.

※This article is excerpted and summarized from the 5ch (Hello!Project) thread “ANGERME, for real this time, looks like they missed out on the big fall venue (Budokan) lolololololol.”
