Morning Musume. was on NHK shows pretty frequently the year they stopped getting picked for Kohaku, and they still got cut in the end.
That's just your own assumption, isn't it?
Even that garbage agency should respect the group enough not to get greedy about it.
Back in the day, Musume. could appear "with" a bunch of other groups tacked on purely because of their string of hits.
One song blowing up is barely a topic yet — negotiating a joint appearance with a bunch of other groups at this stage would be a bit embarrassing.
To the general public it's more like:
"Morning Musume.? You're still alive?"
"Angerme? BEYOOOOONDS? Who are you?"
So even if those groups appeared, people would just be blank-faced — same as they'd be for OCHA NORMA.
Anyone who knows the music industry's history would get that, but I guess we just have to tell ourselves Juice is somehow different.
They're singing "Kurakura" on Venue though
At that level, they might not even know what an idol group is, period.
That's exactly why they cast enka singers [for the show] — to reach that crowd.
That crowd doesn't know Kawa Lab. or Equal Love either.
That's just sour grapes.
If "they'd have made it big in a different era" counted for anything, everyone could waltz into Kohaku.
Being loved in your own era matters too.
When they shared the stage with Equal Love and Kyanchu on EIGHT-JAM, they didn't lose out to them at all.
From the viewers' side, as long as a photogenic act with real singing chops is up there, there's no problem.
For M!LK, September 19 will be their second Venue101 appearance this year.
So the first to hit "multiple appearances on both shows" this year was Juice=Juice, as of finishing their September 5 Venue101 appearance.
From that angle, "Kurakura" feels like a pretty half-baked song though
Is there a more fitting song out there? No, there isn't.
It really comes down to this. Once you've heard "MoreMi," you genuinely can't think of anything else for this year. The energy and hype level are on a completely different tier.
As for whether the general public knows the song — Koshien, Nodo Jiman, and Bon Odori coverage should be more than enough.
