  • Rui Hachimura Erupts for 30 as Japan Crushes Qatar by 100+ to Go 2-0 in World Cup Qualifying

On August 31, Japan’s men’s basketball national team faced Qatar (Toyota Arena Tokyo) in the second match of Asian qualifying for the 2027 World Cup, with Rui Hachimura posting a team-high 30 points, including six 3-pointers. The team cruised to a lopsided win, topping 100 points and following their opening victory over Saudi Arabia with a second straight qualifying win. On the 5ch Geinou/Sports Express+ board, threads were full of praise for Hachimura’s scoring and physicality, while other posters debated how heavily the presence — or absence — of NBA-caliber players tips these games, drawing comparisons to Japan’s struggles in other sports.

    Hachimura really is insane.
I figured the team would basically be a one-man Hachimura show, but the gravity he creates for everyone else is incredible too.

You could really see how far Japanese basketball has grown.
Used to be full of guys who'd get open off his gravity and still couldn't finish — now they're knocking it down left and right.

With Hachimura, Hawkinson, and Nabe (Watanabe) all in the lineup,
you can rest any one of the three and the team still holds together — that's what makes them strong.

    Re: #6
Exactly. Back when coach Hovasse (Tom Hovasse) only had Hawkinson and Watanabe, he'd play both the whole game and they'd be gassed by the end. I figured once Hachimura joined he could finally rest one guy and cruise to the finish with room to spare — but then he went and played all three wire-to-wire anyway, like some coach from a scrappy underdog high school team.
    7AnonymousAug 31, 2026 21:11
Still, the real question is how they'd fare against teams like Iran or China.

Hachimura really is a singularity for Japanese basketball. A guy this tall, this built, and this quick — you wouldn't even find that among 'haafu' players (people of mixed Japanese heritage).

Sure, that's true, but the team is strong because everyone has a clearly defined role.

Hachimura can create his own shot, but he's also excellent playing off others.

If you mix that up, basketball starts falling apart the way soccer does.

The head coach really matters a ton in basketball.

Only 12 teams make the Olympics.
Given the rankings, even if Japan qualifies, they'll almost certainly draw two of USA/Canada/a European power in the group stage.
    It's basically hopeless.
Last time, the one game they actually had a shot at winning — against Brazil — they got blown out.

Exactly. Basketball is fundamentally 1-on-1. On a small court, it's a game of the strong guy hunting mismatches against the weak guy over and over.
And if they send a double-team, someone else gets open. Whoever kept defending old man Hovasse by saying Japan would be fine without Hachimura clearly didn't understand basketball at all.

Japan's soccer team made the Olympic semifinals and quarterfinals — they probably don't want to hear that from a basketball team that's gone winless at the last two straight Olympics.

And in Paris, both the men's and women's basketball teams went 0-6.
Add up every win from Japan's men's and women's basketball, volleyball, and rugby teams combined, and it's still fewer than the men's and women's soccer teams got on their own.

They blew out Tunisia, after all.

    Background and Talking Points

This match was the second game of the 2027 World Cup Asian second (final) qualifying round, with world No. 22 Japan defeating No. 76 Qatar by topping 100 points. Coming after their opening win over Saudi Arabia, it gave Japan a 2-0 start to final qualifying. Rui Hachimura, an NBA player, was the difference-maker, with the talent gap translating directly into the team’s scoring output. Most thread comments praised the performance, but given the ranking gap with Qatar, some posters tempered the optimism, asking how Japan would fare against teams like Iran or China — suggesting a lopsided win over a weaker opponent shouldn’t be equated with competitiveness against top-tier nations. The discussion also drew comparisons to Japan’s national soccer team, which was reportedly struggling around the same time, developing into a broader debate about how much having NBA-caliber players matters across different sports at the international level.

  • ‘I want a relationship without sex’ post sparks debate on 5ch

A post on 5ch’s Newsoku VIP board titled “I’m so sex-averse my relationships never work out” set off a discussion. The poster, a woman, said every man she’s ever met tells her he won’t date her without sex, and asked whether she’s the weird one. The thread split over questions like: what actually separates a romantic relationship from a friendship, how should a partner’s libido be satisfied if you don’t want sex, and whether couples just have less sex after marriage anyway — with some users sharing their own experience of long-term relationships that never turned physical.

    Re: #147
And you don't need to be attached to connecting with people or living alongside them either, then

Background and key points of the debate

The term “sex-averse” used by the poster is a self-description, not a medical diagnosis. The thread mainly split over two questions: how to distinguish a romantic relationship from a friendship, and how a partner’s sex drive should be satisfied if the couple isn’t having sex. Some pointed out that many married couples end up having less sex anyway, with some users saying what matters is that the relationship continues, not whether sex is part of it. Others shared their own experience of spending years with someone without ever becoming physical, suggesting that whether sex is a prerequisite for a relationship varies hugely depending on the person. Some replies pushed too far into the poster’s health or upbringing, or made sweeping generalizations about women, and those have been left out of this writeup.

Nonaka Miki, who serves as leader of Morning Musume。’26, wrote a lengthy post on her blog about the group’s social media strategy over the past year. In response, on 5ch’s Hello! Re: #149 Exactly this. It's been a while since Morning Musume had a real chance to become a topic of conversation with the general public, and the staff not even trying to capitalize on it is just hopeless. Air footage from the New York live. Air behind-the-scenes footage from filming the 24-Hour TV drama. Get the current members to sing "Toki Sora" (a past Morning Musume single) and post it on YouTube. There were plenty of golden chances to show the world Morning Musume。is alive and well, and they let every one of them slip by — it's just hopeless. A Juice=Juice staff wouldn't let a chance like this go to waste.

Meanwhile Kyusuto and the other Kawara Lab groups post over 180 TikTok videos a month — that's 6 a day (Juice has slowed down a bit since they're busy, but they still put up 54 in August).

If that's the case, shouldn't they be tying in more with Juice and putting in the effort to ride the algorithm? Even "Moremi" was completely ignored until Getter and Nia danced to it. Oda posted it saying it was for practice, but even then there was no mention of "Moremi" in the caption. You've got to use what you can use.

Re: #181 Juice pays money to outsource their editing, don't they.

Background and Key Points of This Discussion

At many idol groups, social media operations are managed by staff rather than the members themselves when it comes to posting frequency and content, meaning member enthusiasm alone doesn’t necessarily move the needle on how often things get posted. The thread itself raised this point too, saying it’s “supposed to be staff-led,” and it’s easy to conflate criticism aimed at Nonaka personally with frustration over how the staff handle things. Also, comparisons like the TikTok post-count breakdown (post #171) cited concrete numbers to highlight differences in how groups operate, but since each group’s follower base and target platform differ, post volume alone isn’t necessarily a fair measure of how well- or poorly-run a group’s strategy is. It’s also worth noting — though it wasn’t raised in the thread — that Morning Musume。and Juice=Juice differ in when they formed and how their activities are structured within Hello! Project, so any comparison between them comes with different underlying conditions.

On 5ch’s general live-commentary board (Nandemo Jikkyo G), a discussion took off from the question: “Can the machine guns mounted on Gundam-series warships actually shoot down enemy units?” Opinions split over how visual interception could even work under the in-universe radar jamming caused by Minovsky particles, and whether locally-controlled computers should be able to auto-aim without relying on radar at all. The thread also wandered into why bridges are designed to be so exposed, whether funnels are actually practical weapons, and why mobile suits’ limited range forces the mothership itself onto the front line.

The whole 'visual aiming' thing doesn't add up either.
Tracking and firing at a moving target is local processing, so jamming shouldn't matter.
Even mobile suits detect approaching objects and sound a warning, so they should be able to track it.

If you prioritize efficiency too much, the most practical mass-production unit ends up looking like this:

Background and Key Points of the Debate

In the Gundam universe, the presence of “Minovsky particles,” which jam radio waves, disables long-range radar and missile guidance, which is why the setting emphasizes visual confirmation and close-range combat. This discussion takes that premise as a given and asks how mobile suits’ own sensor capabilities square with the role of shipboard machine guns — it’s worth noting there’s no officially confirmed answer here; this is purely fan speculation. The thread split between those arguing that locally-controlled computers should be able to process information equivalent to visual targeting, and those countering that under Minovsky particle interference, visual aiming is unavoidable regardless — no consensus was reached. On the exposed bridge design, some pointed out that the reasoning likely has less to do with in-universe logic and more to do with production considerations tied to toy sales.

  • Suzuyo Buys Danish Top-Flight Club Randers FC — 5ch: “Even Honda’s Done This”

Suzuyo, which owns the operating company behind J1 side Shimizu S-Pulse, has announced it will acquire 80% of the shares in Danish top-flight club Randers FC. The move is reportedly aimed at building a foothold for securing fairer transfer terms, addressing the recurring problem of Japanese players being undervalued when they move to Europe. The thread ranged widely — covering Suzuyo’s revenue scale, comparisons with the financial muscle of other J.League parent companies, and how the cost of stadium renovations is being split.

Suzuyo, based in Shimizu Ward, Shizuoka City, and parent company of J1 club Shimizu S-Pulse’s operator, has announced the acquisition of a professional football club in Denmark.

Suzuyo has signed an agreement to acquire 80% of the shares in the operating company of Randers FC, a club in Denmark’s top division, saying the two sides aim to grow together by sharing expertise.

With the low transfer fees for Japanese players moving to Europe seen as a persistent issue, the company also stated that “achieving transfers with fairer valuations and terms is one of the important themes” going forward.

Suzuyo is around 170 billion yen [in revenue].
That's actually pretty low as far as J.League parent companies go.

Kashima's parent Mercari: about 150 billion
    Nagasaki's Japanet: around 270 billion
    Verdy's Xebio: around 250 billion
    Machida's CyberAgent: nearly 900 billion
    Hiroshima's Edion: around 700 billion
Beyond that it's mostly massive corporations topping 1 trillion yen

When you think about it that way, Suzuyo really went all in.
FC Tokyo's parent Mixi has been branching out from Monster Strike into sports business too, with the Chiba Jets and the Chari Loto keirin betting platform — maybe Suzuyo is doing something similar, kicking off a serious sports business centered on Shimizu.

Background and Key Points of the Discussion

Suzuyo is a group centered on logistics, with the holding company’s overall revenue reported at roughly 590 billion yen and profit at 9.1 billion yen. Comparisons raised in the thread noted that several other J.League parent companies are considerably larger — Kashima’s parent Mercari at around 150 billion yen, Nagasaki’s Japanet at around 270 billion yen, and Machida’s CyberAgent at nearly 900 billion yen — making Suzuyo’s scale a point of debate. Comments mocking baseball fans (using the slur “yakibuta,” literally “grilled pig”) or personally attacking named individuals have been excluded. The main points of contention were how the acquisition might address the problem of Japanese players’ transfer fees being undervalued in moves to Europe, and how to interpret the split between public funding and Suzuyo’s contribution toward the new stadium. Note that Keisuke Honda has also invested in clubs abroad, so this isn’t the first time a Japanese company or individual has taken a stake in an overseas club.

    Background and Key Points

“State of Play” is an online show Sony Interactive Entertainment has aired on an irregular schedule, and it has a history of drawing complaints that its so-called “deep dives” turn out to be nothing but follow-ups on already-announced titles, with zero new reveals. This time, the official announcement itself stated upfront that the show would close with Square Enix’s “FINAL FANTASY VII REVELATION.” Revealing the closing segment ahead of time is unusual for this kind of format, since it undercuts the element of surprise — which fed 5ch users’ concerns that the broadcast might once again deliver zero new announcements. “State of Play Japan,” hosted by voice actor Yuki Kaji and aimed at the Japan/Asia market, also drew attention because it now airs directly after the main show rather than as a standalone broadcast like last time. Note that any overlap between this schedule and Nintendo Direct or the Tokyo Game Show remains pure speculation within the thread — neither company has made an official announcement about timing.

※This article is compiled and summarized from the 5ch (Hardware/Industry, “console war” board) thread “[Sad News for Nintendo Fanboys] “State of Play” and “State of Play Japan” air back-to-back starting 10 PM JST on Thursday, September 3!“

  • Judo Manga ‘YAWARA!’ Nostalgia Thread Lights Up 5ch — Fans Call One Arc ‘Top 100 in Manga History’

A thread titled “Anyone remember that manga YAWARA!?” popped up on 5ch’s Nanidemo Jikkyo G (a general live-commentary board), drawing a wave of nostalgia for Naoki Urasawa’s judo manga “YAWARA!” Debate broke out between posters annoyed that heroine Yawara refuses to commit to judo in the early chapters, and others defending her, pointing out that’s a natural reaction given her family circumstances. Meanwhile, plenty of posts praised the “Best Present” arc as “one of the top 100 chapters in manga history,” and rival character Sayaka Honami also had her fans. Replies also gathered around the trivia that real-life judoka Ryoko Tani’s nickname “YAWARA-chan” actually originated from this manga.

    24AnonymousAug 31, 2026 13:10

The anime forced itself to a rushed ending.

In the manga, Yawara's long-lost father turns up as an opponent, she sinks into despair and tries to quit judo (she actually forfeits a match, ending her win streak), and Matsuda tries to pull her back but it doesn't work out, leading to a falling-out between them — until Yawara finds his scrapbook of newspaper clippings and decides to make her comeback (that's the 'Best Present' episode mentioned earlier).

And then the showdown with Sayaka Honami is the ultimate climax

Background and Key Points of Debate

“YAWARA!” is a judo manga by Naoki Urasawa serialized in Big Comic Spirits, which also got a TV anime adaptation. The thread split over how to read heroine Yawara: some found her early reluctance to embrace judo “irritating,” while others argued it’s a natural reaction given that judo caused her family to fall apart in childhood. Also drawing attention was the origin of real-life judoka Ryoko Tani’s (née Tamura) nickname “YAWARA-chan.” According to posters, it reportedly began when she pitched herself as the “real-life YAWARA-chan” — a detail suggesting the nickname wasn’t simply the public noticing a resemblance, which makes for a surprisingly little-known bit of trivia.

  • Juice=Juice scores 4th #1 on CDTV, but ratings are dead last for the timeslot — 5ch: “At least admit the V-shaped comeback”

On 5ch’s Hello! Project board, a breaking-news thread went up after Juice=Juice scored its 4th No. 1 on the music show “CDTV Live! Live!”. While cheers went up, someone posted that the show’s real-time ratings came in at 4.4%, dead last among all networks in that timeslot, and the thread instantly turned into a ratings debate. Posters even dragged up other music shows’ low ratings from this year, splitting over whether Juice=Juice’s appearance actually propped the numbers up or dragged them down.

Background and Key Points of This Discussion

“CDTV Live! Live!” is a music special aired on TBS, and according to an image posted in the thread, this episode’s timeslot ratings came in at 4.4%. Commenters also listed ratings for other music shows broadcast this year, including Music Station, STAR, Venue101, and Buzz Rhythm, with uniformly low numbers across the board. That said, these figures come from images posted within the thread, so they may differ in wording from official figures released by networks or ratings agencies — worth keeping in mind. The debate centered on whether Juice=Juice’s appearance pushed the ratings up or dragged them down, with posters split between those claiming the group opened the show and those disputing it. Talk of an “agency slot” system determining show bookings was pure 5ch speculation with no supporting evidence given. There were also exchanges resembling a support rivalry between different Hello! Project group fandoms, occasionally escalating into arguments with fans of other groups.

  • Edo-era tavern food was “awful” — tales of pricey andon lamp oil and tuna treated as garbage

A thread titled “I want to time-slip to the Edo period and eat and drink at a tavern” filled up with concrete details about food life in old Edo. Contributors noted that lighting a single andon lamp for five hours cost the equivalent of about 500 yen today, so commoners didn’t waste rapeseed oil; that soy sauce didn’t spread among ordinary people until the mid-Edo period; and that tuna spoiled fast and was often already going off by the time it reached Edo, making it cheap, near-worthless fish for a long stretch of history. The thread showed a clear temperature gap between curious voices saying “I’d love to try it” and cooler ones replying “it’s actually terrible.”

A single andon lamp barely lights anything up, and it's said that burning one for five hours cost about 500 yen in today's money.

Modern tofu is watered down, so as far as the raw ingredient goes, the old-style stuff might actually taste better.

What we now call "Edomae" sushi wasn't properly established until the late Edo period, so sushi was edible by then.
Though since the technique was so new, it's questionable whether parasites were being handled properly.
    59AnonymousAug 29, 2026 08:51
If people had eaten a varied diet, "Edo disease" (beriberi) wouldn't have spread the way it did — most people probably lived on little more than rice and pickles 🥺
    67AnonymousAug 29, 2026 08:55
    Re: #59
Apparently a big reason beriberi spread was that rice-polishing technology improved and people started eating white rice.

They were still doing pinworm checks (in schools) even into the Heisei era, so it's really only been the last 30-40 years that you could say the parasite problem is gone.
    77AnonymousAug 29, 2026 09:02
If you're used to today's refined flavors, you'd definitely go "ugh, gross." But I'd still love to try Edomae zuke tuna (soy-marinated tuna) or hot tofu with a shot of warm sake, just once.
    85AnonymousAug 29, 2026 09:12
    Re: #77
If I remember right, tuna was treated almost like garbage in the Edo period, so you could eat cheap, all-you-can-eat tuna.

Tuna spoils fast, so by the time it reached Edo it was already going bad.
Until soy-sauce-marinated tuna was invented, of course it was treated as garbage.
    89AnonymousAug 29, 2026 09:14
There was no culture of eating animal meat, so that alone makes it rough.
    99AnonymousAug 29, 2026 09:22
    Re: #89
    Actually there was, sort of.
Since eating meat was officially banned, it happened at back-alley taverns, not out in the open.

They served it under code names like "botan" (boar), "sakura" (horse), and "momiji" (venison) meat.

Background and key points of this discussion

Many of the claims about Edo-era food life were grounded in actual history. Multiple studies note that oil for andon lamps (rapeseed oil) was expensive for commoners, and that living through dark nights was simply normal life. Soy sauce production only took off in earnest from the Genroku era onward, and is said to have spread widely among ordinary people from the mid-Edo period on. It’s also true that tuna was treated as cheap fish — its reputation only improved once the technique of marinating it in soy sauce (“zuke”) was established. Eating meat was officially taboo, but shops that served game under renamed labels like “botan” (boar), “sakura” (horse), and “momiji” (venison) genuinely existed. The thread showed a clear gap between curiosity — “I’d love to try it” — and the cooler reality check of “it’s actually bad” — but given the constraints on food preservation and hygiene at the time, the honest answer is that Edo-era food simply can’t be judged fairly by modern standards of taste.

※This article is excerpted and summarized from the 5channel “Nandemo Jikkyo G” board thread “I want to time-slip to the Edo period and eat and drink at a tavern.”

  • Xenoblade 3 Alone Splits Opinion — 5ch: “Wordy Dialogue Is Part of Why It Left a Bad Impression”

A thread on a gaming board debated the reputation of the Xenoblade series. Sparked by a post claiming “If it weren’t for 3, the whole series would be a masterpiece,” users discussed the merits of 1 and 2’s individual scenarios, complaints about 3’s story pacing and dialogue, and differing reactions overseas. The thread saw criticism that 3’s narrative structure was “rushed” and “wordy” clash with calls to judge the series as a whole, and the conversation eventually branched out into character design trends and Nintendo’s IP strategy behind the series.

    1: A polished, deep scenario
X: Strong personality, one of a kind
    2: A classic, red-blooded story
    10AnonymousAug 31, 2026 08:06
Honestly I don't think 3's story itself is bad when you look at it as a whole.
The biggest reason it leaves a bad impression is the bittersweet-ending vibe of the presentation, and above all how wordy the characters' text — or rather, their dialogue — gets.
    Especially Noah.
    15AnonymousAug 31, 2026 08:12
    Re: #10
Honestly the ending is just under-explained and crammed in at a rushed pace, so you end up going "wait, what?" — but if you sort it out later with the lore in mind, it does hold together to some degree.
What really ruins the game is the back half, where the whole "exchange of lives" theme that's supposed to be the main point ends up meaningless, plus stress-inducing garbage scenario bits like the long-winded fat guy's flashback and the sloppy jailbreak plan.
Even XDE chapter 13 handles the "life for life" theme more properly.
    36AnonymousAug 31, 2026 08:40
3 has a monotonous story like a two-hour movie, so it goes over badly with Japanese fans but well with overseas fans.
    40AnonymousAug 31, 2026 08:42
    Re: #36
Guess it's free to dream the impossible dream that it's popular overseas.
    37AnonymousAug 31, 2026 08:40
The "Xeno-haters" were making the exact same complaints back in 2015 when Xenoblade Chronicles X first released, and they're still making them in 2025 for Xenoblade Chronicles X: Definitive Edition.
It's honestly scary that their attitude toward the game hasn't changed in 10 years — that only happens if you've refused to take in any new information at all.
    39AnonymousAug 31, 2026 08:42
    Re: #37
Brings back memories of them being so absorbed in bashing Xenoblade Chronicles X that they were caught totally off guard by Splatoon's massive hit, lol
    44AnonymousAug 31, 2026 08:47
Is it really getting praised, though? It's always just someone making a thread to trash Xeno, getting shot down for it, or the thread turning into a chit-chat thread and getting hijacked.
    47AnonymousAug 31, 2026 08:47
    Re: #40
That's actually true — that "Whatchamacallit 33" game (i.e. Clair Obscur: Expedition 33) also went over well overseas because it's got a movie-like story.
For you guys entertainment means manga and anime, but over there movies are the main entertainment, so the tastes are just different.
    52AnonymousAug 31, 2026 08:53
The real motive on the "Xeno-hater" side is that they want to argue on topics where "Nosuke" (a forum regular known for sales-chart arguments) and distribution numbers don't come into play.
In fact, arguments in Xeno-related threads actually come with people bringing proper in-universe evidence to back their points, rather than just being emotional slap-fights.
And above all, the person on the other side isn't one guy pretending to be several.
    55AnonymousAug 31, 2026 08:55
If it were right after release, sure, but going out of your way to argue about a game's content years later on Geha (5ch's hardware/console-wars board) is a total complex.
Before you go knocking Xeno, you should be hyping up Tales, Kiseki (Trails), or Marvel instead.
    59AnonymousAug 31, 2026 08:56
    Re: #55
Sure, that's true for threads made now, but people were saying this exact thing nonstop back during the DLC promo period too, lol
    65AnonymousAug 31, 2026 09:00
    Re: #55
If it were a bash thread for those other series, sure, but praise or chit-chat threads probably just don't last and the thread falls off the board.

    Re: #61
Same goes for Fire Emblem, but having Nintendo's backing is a real strength.
The scale is completely different, but maybe something like CDPR, which gets state support, is a closer comparison.
    61AnonymousAug 31, 2026 08:57
Everyone knows Xenoblade will keep getting made, so even if an entry stumbles a bit there's nothing to worry about.
What's actually worrying is that pitches for other IPs just don't get approved at all.
Feels like Nintendo's gone into turtle mode.
    99AnonymousAug 31, 2026 09:52
Genesis feels kind of shaky too, honestly.
Like how plain the characters are.
    101AnonymousAug 31, 2026 09:54
    Re: #99
FE Banshi's character buzz has been getting better and better ever since its first reveal, so maybe it's the same story for Genesis depending on what comes next?
    102AnonymousAug 31, 2026 09:59
    Re: #99
Honestly I think the characters are plain in every entry except 2.
Say what you want, but 2 had a ton of character designs prepared, so it stood out.
    106AnonymousAug 31, 2026 10:14
    Re: #99
2's character designs were just aimed squarely at kids — the Xenoblade series is basically plain-looking otherwise.
    104AnonymousAug 31, 2026 10:02
The Blade art has no unity
    Each Blade's events are thin
There are too many Blades you never use

And yet 3's Hero content was made specifically in response to that feedback.
The people who keep endlessly whining "I wanted more of what 2 did!"
lost out to the people who actually gave the developers proper feedback.
    105AnonymousAug 31, 2026 10:13
    Re: #104
Was "the Blade art lacks unity" actually a complaint people had?
I thought it was good that each artist brought their own distinct style.
    107AnonymousAug 31, 2026 10:15
    Re: #104
And that's exactly why it's no good — they went and made unhinged stuff like Ethel's storyline, with its ethics-free resurrection and life-span-shortening nonsense.

Background and Key Points of This Discussion

The Xenoblade series is an RPG developed by Monolith Soft and published by Nintendo since the first title in 2010; the third entry, released in 2022, has drawn mixed reactions compared to the first two games over its character banter and story pacing. The “overseas reception” discussed in the thread isn’t backed by concrete sales data — it’s based on subjective opinions drawn from individual reviews and impressions, with no numerical evidence presented. Also, Expedition 33, brought up as a point of comparison, is a 2025 RPG from an unrelated company with no connection to the Xenoblade series. While Xenoblade continues to receive new entries as one of Nintendo’s flagship IPs, the thread also voiced the view that pitches for new titles in other Nintendo-originated IPs have a harder time getting approved — reflecting an underlying interest in the series’ position within Nintendo as a whole.

*This article was compiled by excerpting and summarizing the 5ch (Hardware/Industry, aka Geha) thread “If it weren’t for Xenoblade 3, you could call every entry in the series a god-tier masterpiece — such a shame.”
