  • Netflix’s ‘Love, Bring It On! 2’ Faces Escalating Cast Harassment — Even Host MEGUMI Speaks Out

Harassment of cast members is spreading around “Love, Bring It On! 2,” the dating reality show streaming on Netflix since August 4. Host MEGUMI had already called for the abuse to stop back in August, but after episodes 14–16 dropped on September 1, posts attacking cast members’ characters and appearances only increased. On 5channel forums, opinions split over who’s to blame: the producers for crafting inflammatory editing that stirs up conflict, or the viewers who take the drama at face value and pile on. Many pointed to the case of a “Terrace House” cast member who died after being driven to despair by online abuse, arguing this points to a structural problem with the reality TV genre itself.

Backlash grows over the latest episodes of Netflix’s “Love, Bring It On! 2” — attacks on cast members’ character and looks too… MEGUMI: “Please, just stop.”

“Love, Bring It On!” Season 2, the dating reality show streaming on Netflix since August 4, has seen a wave of harassment directed at its cast, with voices on social media growing worried about the toll on their mental health.

Talent and host MEGUMI called in August for people to stop the hurtful comments toward cast members. But after episodes 14 through 16 were released on September 1, posts denigrating their character and appearance only increased further.

The moment you greenlight a show like this, it's on the producers.
It's basically inciting the viewers — what are you even talking about?

I can't enjoy it the way I did with season 1.
    59AnonymousSep 5, 2026 23:29
I really don't think it's okay for the country to hype up anti-social types and effectively encourage criminal behavior.
Sentencing already factors in social sanction as part of the punishment, so if that sanction isn't working, they should make the actual punishment heavier.
If a guy doing time for robbery can cause an uproar and still just laugh it off, something's wrong.

    Background and Key Debate Points

This isn’t the first time a dating reality show’s cast has been targeted by harassment. In 2020, it was widely reported that a cast member of “Terrace House” died after being driven to despair by online abuse — an incident that helped spur legal reforms, including raising the statutory penalty for the crime of insult. The split in opinion on this thread reflects that history: one camp argues that since producers craft editing designed to stir up conflict, viewers’ reactions are essentially a built-in, expected outcome; the other argues that the show’s editing and reality are separate things, and that attacks on cast members are the viewers’ own responsibility. What’s easy for readers to misunderstand is that these shows can look like unscripted documentaries. In practice, editing and pacing choices can shape a particular cast member into looking like the “villain,” a point several posters in the thread raised. Keeping in mind that a show’s editorial framing is separate from a cast member’s actual personality can change how you read coverage like this.

  • Switch 2’s US Amazon Purchase Count Plummets from 8,000 to 1,000 After Price Hike

5ch users noticed that Amazon US’s popularity indicator for the Nintendo Switch 2 — the “bought in the past week” figure — had plummeted from an initial 8,000 units down to just 1,000. Since the shift happened during the first real sales stretch after the price hike, some in the thread read it as a sign of slowing momentum, while others stayed optimistic, pointing to VGChartz’s weekly data showing the Switch 2 still outselling the PS5. Opinions split over which numbers to trust, and the debate spiraled into an argument over whether handhelds or home consoles should command the higher price.

The general consensus has always been that the overseas price hike wouldn't sting as much as the domestic one did.
That's why the stock price hasn't dropped — proof that the overseas investors who make up most of the buyers see it as a non-issue.

Unfortunately, most people just don't accept a handheld costing more than a home console of the same generation.

It's precisely because they couldn't smash it that we're at the situation in this thread's title.

    96AnonymousSep 5, 2026 19:49
The reason Switch 2's sales pace is currently outrunning PS5's really comes down to two things:

    – PS5 couldn't ship enough units at launch due to the chip shortage
    – Switch 2 rolled out a Mario Kart discount bundle limited to its first year on sale

I'd bet the pace flips back next year.

    Re: #100
They just held back shipments on purpose to keep it looking scarce.

Background and key points of the debate

Amazon’s “bought in the past week” figure isn’t an official sales report — it’s an internal popularity metric that fluctuates day to day. The plunge from 8,000 to 1,000 is likely, at least in part, the tail end of last-minute buying before the price hike wearing off, a point some in the thread raised themselves. On the other hand, VGChartz — cited as a comparison — is also just an estimate of shipments and sell-through, not an official figure, and some commenters dismissed it as “VGChartz fortune-telling” given doubts about its accuracy. Neither number should be taken as a definitive picture of actual sales. The thread also veered into comparing handheld and home-console pricing directly, but it’s worth noting the two use different components and hardware generations, which limits how far a straight comparison can really go.

Mai Koseki and Chisaki Morito appeared on MBS Radio’s “Young Town Saturday” on the September 5 broadcast. The show reportedly started 30 minutes later than scheduled, and listeners packed into the live-discussion thread. During the broadcast, the topic of whether Koseki actually touched the base during her ceremonial first pitch came up, and a reply saying “apparently she says she touched it” drew a lot of attention. Listeners also chatted about the show’s slot for Hello! Project graduate (“OG”) guests and about how to tell the group’s members apart.

“Young Town Saturday” is a long-running live broadcast on Kansai’s MBS Radio that regularly features Hello! Project graduates as guests. In the thread, opinions were split on how to read this guest slot: some see it as “an image centered on golden-era members,” while others speculated this particular appearance was just a one-off booking to fill a scheduling gap. It’s also worth noting that the claim about whether Koseki touched the base during the ceremonial first pitch came from listeners relaying on-air talk secondhand — it wasn’t confirmed directly via video or other footage.

  • BS12 to Air Zeta Gundam Movie Trilogy and Char’s Counterattack — 5ch: “New and Old Animation Styles Clash”

It’s been announced that starting September 6, BS12’s “Sunday Anime Theater” will air the Mobile Suit Zeta Gundam movie trilogy (the re-edited versions released in 2005–2006) along with Mobile Suit Gundam: Char’s Counterattack. On the forums, discussion centered on how the movie versions, unlike the TV series, mix newly drawn cuts with old ones, and how the ending — where protagonist Kamille suffers a mental breakdown — has been softened. Opinions were also divided on whether newcomers unfamiliar with Gundam could enjoy it without doing any homework first.

On BS12 Twelve’s “Sunday Anime Theater,” airing every Sunday at 7:00 PM,

the following works will begin airing from September 6.

September 6: “Mobile Suit Zeta Gundam: A New Translation – Heir to the Stars” (2005 / General Director Yoshiyuki Tomino)

    Background and Points of Debate

The “Zeta Gundam” movie trilogy, commonly known as the “Shinyaku” (New Translation) version, was released in theaters from 2005 to 2006 as a re-edit of the TV series that originally aired in 1985. Director Yoshiyuki Tomino himself added new footage, and changed the ending so that Kamille no longer suffers a mental breakdown. What split opinion on the thread was how to judge this change — some favored the original’s bitter ending, while others appreciated the more redemptive conclusion of the movie version. It was also pointed out that “Mobile Suit ZZ Gundam,” the sequel series, isn’t included in this broadcast lineup, meaning viewers who only watch the movies may find some characters’ backgrounds hard to follow. “Char’s Counterattack,” released in theaters in 1988, is an original theatrical work that serves as the definitive conclusion to the series.

  • “I’m a Girl, Currently at Saizeriya” Post Gets Buried in Snark from /Nanj/ Regulars

A thread posted to 5channel’s “Nandemo Jikkyou G” (Nanj) board with a photo captioned “I’m a girl, at Saizeriya right now” quickly split reactions into two camps. One camp spent the whole thread doubting the poster’s identity, insisting “this has to be a guy pretending to be a girl.” The other camp set the authenticity question aside and dove into Saizeriya staples like the onion zuppa and Diavola-style chicken, swapping opinions on the food. In the end, the thread became less about the actual post and more about Nanj’s signature blend of ribbing and back-and-forth banter.

    Background and Talking Points

Posts along the lines of “I’m a girl, currently doing ◯◯” are a long-running staple pattern on the Nandemo Jikkyou G (Nanj) board. Since there’s no way to verify a poster’s actual gender, regulars there have developed a reflexive habit of suspecting it’s “probably just a middle-aged guy pretending.” That reaction took over this thread too, with the debate over authenticity overshadowing the actual content of the post. At the same time, Saizeriya staples like the “onion zuppa,” “small shrimp salad,” and “Diavola-style chicken” are popular topics among regular customers, and posters did trade genuine impressions of the food. Worth clarifying: the impersonation suspicions were directed at an anonymous poster, not an attempt to disparage the appearance or character of any real, identifiable person.

  • Sushi: Skilled Craft or Just Slapping Fish on Rice? 5ch Erupts in Debate

On 5ch’s “Nandemo Jikkyo G” (Live Commentary) board, a post comparing Italian pizza with Japanese sushi touched off a debate over whether sushi really deserves to be called a “craft.” It started with the claim that “calling sushi cooking is absurd when all you’re doing is cutting fish and arranging it,” which drew a wave of pushback: “sashimi requires learning dozens of different cutting techniques depending on the fish.” The thread gradually drifted into an argument over whether there’s really any difference between working a supermarket fish counter and a sushi chef’s skill, eventually spiraling into an unresolvable back-and-forth over how many types of fish a typical independent sushi shop actually handles.

Pizza's got real culinary craft to it — how you arrange the toppings, how you work the oven.

You're the one that's unbelievable here.

To cut to the conclusion: for an independently owned sushi restaurant, having "20 types" of fish is entirely plausible. In fact, it's a very realistic, well-balanced number for a typical independent shop. Compared to major conveyor-belt sushi chains (which always carry 80 to 100+ types), it might seem low, but for an independent shop maintaining quality while restocking daily, it's quite reasonable — for reasons like the following. The reason the number of types is "—

lol, turns out the chains have more

    Re: #94
Wow, you sure can talk big based on nothing but guesswork
(that's what's called "boiling tea in your navel" — a Japanese idiom for something so ridiculous it's laughable)

Background and Key Points of the Debate

Becoming a sushi chef is generally understood to require years of apprenticeship at specialty restaurants, mastering different filleting techniques for each fish species, freshness management, and how to handle vinegared rice. At the same time, supermarkets routinely block-cut fish for sashimi at their seafood counters, so “cutting fish” itself isn’t a task exclusive to specialty shops. What the thread really argued over wasn’t so much whether skill is involved, but how many types of fish a typical independently owned sushi restaurant handles — with some insisting around 20 types is plenty, and others arguing it should be 40 to 50, neither side budging. That said, the range of fish handled varies enormously depending on whether it’s a chain or an independent shop, as well as by region and season, and there’s no official statistic on this. It’s worth noting that the specific numbers cited in the thread are nothing more than individual posters’ personal experiences.

In line with the article’s headline, comments praising her as “perfect” and calling it “the best shot ever” poured in, while others were skeptical about how the photo actually looked, with remarks like “it didn’t fit as perfectly as I expected” and “when I did an image search she looked ordinary — maybe this is just a miracle shot.” The thread also brought up her role as the protagonist’s older sister in Kamen Rider Den-O, and an anecdote from her days paying her dues working part-time at an eel restaurant, where she reportedly turned down advances from comedians Koji Imada and Tutorial’s Tokui — steering the conversation from her looks toward her career history.

Background and Key Points of the Discussion

Matsumoto Wakana entered show business in her teens but spent many years paying her dues, and — as symbolized by the anecdote of turning down a famous comedian while working part-time at an eel restaurant — she’s known as a late bloomer whose fame only took off from her late 30s onward. Opinions in the thread split over how accurately the news photo captured her “real” appearance: alongside the praise, a fair number of skeptical comments claimed she looked ordinary in an image search. This reflects how much a celebrity photo’s impression can shift depending on the photographer, lighting, and filters. It’s also worth noting that the stories about her time on Kamen Rider Den-O and her run-ins with comedians are hearsay from an anonymous message board, not verified primary sources.

  • Morning Musume’s New MV Hits 193K Views in 24 Hours — But It’s YouTube’s New View-Count Rules Stealing the Spotlight

A post on the Hello!Project board noted that the MV for Morning Musume.’26’s new single “Yes ka No ka Watashi ka” (“Yes or No or Me”) racked up 193,000 views in the 24 hours after release, sparking a flurry of comparisons with the group’s past MV numbers. But the real focus wasn’t the ranking itself — it was the fact that YouTube changed its view-count system on the night of August 27, so that even much shorter watch times now count as a “view.” Opinions split on whether it’s fair to compare numbers from before and after the change, and the thread also lit up with comparisons to Juice=Juice’s new single (released the same day) and complaints about the agency’s promotional strategy.

It's well above "Lonely," but that's probably just the count change talking.

Background and Key Points of This Discussion

YouTube’s view-count system had long required a certain minimum watch time before a play would register, but according to multiple posts in the thread, that changed on the night of August 27, 2026, to a system where even a single second of playback counts as a view. If true, this means MVs released after the change can’t be directly compared to those released before it in terms of view count. In the thread, opinions were split between those calling this new figure of 193,000 views the group’s best-ever result, and those arguing it only looks impressive because of the count change — notably, both sides accepted that the spec change itself happened, they just disagreed on how to interpret it. Some also pointed out that likes and comments haven’t grown nearly as much as views, raising questions about the limits of judging popularity by view count alone.

  • Tomomi Itano Apologizes for Filming in Hotel’s Communal Bath Changing Room — 5ch: ‘This Is Turning Into a Parade of “Special Permissions”‘

Former AKB48 member Tomomi Itano apologized on September 5 after social media users pointed out that she had filmed inside the changing room of the communal bath at The Ritz-Carlton Nikko, in Tochigi, for a YouTube video documenting a family trip. Itano explained that she had “received special filming permission from the hotel,” but since the changing room is a space shared by all guests, a thread on 5ch’s Geinou/Sports News Plus board split between users questioning whether “a luxury hotel would never grant permission like that” and those who suspected “maybe it was booked out exclusively.” Some posters even claimed to have contacted the hotel directly, and debate over what really happened continued.

    Sat, Sep 5, 8:50 PM

Former AKB48 member and TV personality Tomomi Itano updated her account on X (formerly Twitter) on September 5. In response to criticism on social media over her YouTube filming, she apologized and explained what had happened.

On September 3, Itano had posted a video titled “【Summer Vacation】A Family Trip to Nikko With Just the Three of Us After a While 【vlog】,” showing her family of three spending time at The Ritz-Carlton Nikko. The footage sparked controversy online for showing her filming in the changing room of the communal bath, a shared area of the hotel.

Yeah, it's a shared space, and on top of that it's a changing room where people get naked…

You only ever stay at Toyoko Inn anyway lol

Background and Key Points of Debate

At luxury hotels, communal bath changing rooms are generally subject to prior approval and restrictions on filming — even personal filming — in order to protect the privacy of fellow guests, and the main point of contention here was whether Itano’s explanation squared with that standard practice. Within the thread, opinions split between those who suspected “it must have been booked out exclusively” and those who, judging from how the footage looked, argued it “doesn’t look like an exclusive booking” — but neither view has been confirmed by Itano herself or by the hotel. As of September 5, The Ritz-Carlton Nikko has issued no official explanation regarding the circumstances of the filming permission, and it’s easy to overlook that Itano’s claim in her apology of having “received special permission” remains unverified.

  • Nintendo Direct 9/9 Finale Predictions Heat Up on 5ch: “They’d Better Show 3D Mario This Time”

With a Nintendo Direct scheduled for September 9, 2026, a 5ch thread speculating about what title will close out the show — the “tori” (finale slot) — was buzzing. Past Directs have saved big reveals for last: Donkey Kong Bananza in April 2025, a new Fire Emblem that September, and The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time in June 2026, and many users built their predictions on this “pattern.” The sticking point: since the day before is set to cover a Zelda 40th-anniversary retrospective, will they hold back a separate, brand-new Zelda title as the secret finale, or is a new 3D Mario — silent for nearly a decade now — the real favorite? Voices pushing for Pokémon or Smash, and skeptics questioning the leak reports, mixed into the debate as well.

Obviously it's a new Zelda game
The fact they're splitting it off separately is the whole point

    Switch 2 Nintendo Direct
    Finale titles through history
    2025.4.2 Donkey Kong Bananza
    2025.9.12 Fire Emblem: Banshisenkou

A Metroid Ravenous reveal is basically guaranteed,
but there's no way that's the finale

It's one of the few core-gamer-focused IPs Nintendo has left

If you nail the prediction with solid reasoning too, you also get a Switch 2 Pro Controller

Maybe Nintendo signs a deal with FIFA and puts out a soccer game

    3D Mario or Smash
Even with the price hike, they need something to drive hardware sales
    18AnonymousSep 5, 2026 21:01
    No way it's Mario

    Re: #10
    They already announced Pokémon though?
    16AnonymousSep 5, 2026 20:59
    New 3D Mario
    New Zelda
    New Smash
    New Animal Crossing
    Splatoon 4

Has to be one of these
    17AnonymousSep 5, 2026 21:00
    – The finale slot always goes to a Nintendo title
    – Bananza and Ocarina of Time both had only about 3 months between reveal and release
    – The November 2027 slot is already locked in for Pokémon
    – Banshisenkou was the finale of the bonus Direct that followed the Mario 40th-anniversary segment
    – ↑ Which, conversely, might mean today's 9/9 Direct touches on Zelda too?
    20AnonymousSep 5, 2026 21:04
The leak was about 3D Mario
    22AnonymousSep 5, 2026 21:06
My guess: 3D Mario gets revealed 2027.5.25 and releases 2027.10.22
    23AnonymousSep 5, 2026 21:06
The fact that a prediction thread is even forming means there's no leak of anything huge this time. Nice and peaceful for once

The live-action Legend of Zelda movie was originally set to open on March 26, 2027, but got pushed back to May 7, 2027 for production reasons.

"This is Miyamoto. We've decided to move the worldwide theatrical release date of the live-action Legend of Zelda film from May 7, 2027 to April 30, 2027."

They'll probably just tease a bunch of titles nobody knows a release date for, then close out the hardware's life with some garbage game like always

    Re: #28
Showing nothing but the logos for Metroid Prime 4 and Bayonetta 3 was a cheap move, not very Nintendo-like,
but Nintendo was desperate back then —
the Wii U had flopped hard, the 3DS wasn't doing great in the West, and the Switch had no backward compatibility with the previous generation, so they were right on the edge.
Nintendo today, with 160 million Switch 1 units out there generating royalty income basically on autopilot, has a completely different level of breathing room
    30AnonymousSep 5, 2026 21:10
They'd better at least give us a glimpse of 3D Mario this time.
Buying a game console is also an investment in the satisfying games you'll get to play down the road.
It's been nearly 10 years since Odyssey with still zero word — that's not normal.
Paper Mario, Mario & Luigi, Mario Maker, all that can wait.
Just announce the new 3D Mario already!!!
    32AnonymousSep 5, 2026 21:11
They already split Zelda off into its own slot, so doesn't that mean the actual finale has to be something even bigger?

    It's obviously Pokémon Namikaze
    58AnonymousSep 5, 2026 21:22
    Re: #44
I'd guess Namikaze gets its own dedicated Pokémon Direct instead

Smash can't realistically get announced when it hasn't even been a year since Kirby Air Riders came out
Animal Crossing seems about due for a push toward female and mainstream audiences
Or maybe a mainline 3D Mario
    45AnonymousSep 5, 2026 21:16
It'll probably end with people disappointed it's just Animal Crossing or Splatoon 4

    Re: #80
Yeah, Nintendo totally pulls stuff like that

Background and Key Points of the Discussion

Nintendo has a track record of saving new-title reveals for the grand finale of its Directs, and the thread pointed to a pattern as evidence: Donkey Kong Bananza in April 2025, a new Fire Emblem in September 2025, and The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time in June 2026. For the September 9 broadcast, opinion split on one key question — given that the previous day’s segment was set to cover the Zelda 40th anniversary (the movie and Ocarina of Time), what would headline the actual finale, separate from that main lineup? Several lines of reasoning came up: pent-up demand for 3D Mario (frustration that it’s been roughly nine years of silence since Odyssey), the theory that the Pokémon “Namikaze” reveal would get its own dedicated Direct, and the read that Smash Bros. is too soon to announce given how recently Kirby Air Riders launched. Some posts read deeply into the live-action Zelda movie’s release date shifting from March 2027 to May and then to April, tying it to the Direct’s structure — but these are all fan speculation built on circumstantial evidence, not official announcements or confirmed information. The “Mario” leak that surfaced also came with no substantiation, and it’s worth noting that skepticism about it showed up within the thread itself.
