  • High-accuracy leaker ‘malo’ hints new Smash Bros. is in development — 5ch: ‘A leaker with a track record’

On 5ch’s Hardware & Industry board (Gehazai), an anonymous poster known as “malo” — who appears only in YouTube comment sections — has stirred up discussion by hinting that a new “Super Smash Bros.” title is in development. Malo is said to be so credible that prominent leaker Nate reportedly checks malo’s posts before leaking anything himself, and this time the tip on a new entry came in the form of a rebuttal to rumors of a Switch 2 port of Smash Ultimate. Thread reactions mixed skepticism about the claim’s authenticity with excitement for a new installment, and the discussion later spiraled into arguments over Mario Kart World’s sales pace and comparisons of Switch 2 software sales performance.

I doubt anyone on Geha doesn't know malo, but just in case, here's an explainer:
A leaker who's recently been appearing only in YouTube comments.
Nate is said to check malo's posts before leaking anything — that's how far ahead of everyone else malo is.
    9AnonymousSep 6, 2026 09:51
They keep saying malo has 'a proven track record,' but a new character shows up every single time — this has to be a joke at this point.
    113AnonymousSep 6, 2026 10:49
    Re: #9
They delete every wrong prediction, then once enough guesses pile up they get "revealed" as a new character lol
Surely everyone can see through that, right?
    10AnonymousSep 6, 2026 09:51
Like with Mario Kart World, is it gonna go 'back to basics' and end up Nintendo-characters-only, leaving people disappointed?
    12AnonymousSep 6, 2026 09:52
    Re: #10
That's been rumored for a while now, hasn't it.
    69AnonymousSep 6, 2026 10:23
    Re: #10
Apparently even back at Smash Ultimate it was down to either 'everyone's here again' or a complete system overhaul, so that's plausible.
    11AnonymousSep 6, 2026 09:52
One 'leaker with a proven track record' after another keeps popping up.
    13AnonymousSep 6, 2026 09:53
    Re: #11
Maybe that's literally their full name at this point.
    15AnonymousSep 6, 2026 09:53
All they said was that Smash is 'in development.'
So that kills the theory of a 2027 release/N64 remake — looks like it's now a February 2029 reveal, or maybe even later.
    27AnonymousSep 6, 2026 10:00
    Re: #15
Smash loses half its appeal without new characters added.
They basically have no choice but to keep making new entries built around that hook — it's like a migratory fish that dies the moment it stops swimming; there's no going back to how things were.
    19AnonymousSep 6, 2026 09:55
    This is it.
All they're really saying is that they're pushing back on a Switch 2 port of Smash Ultimate and that a new Smash is in development — they never said anything about a Nintendo Direct reveal.

    38AnonymousSep 6, 2026 10:03
    Re: #19
    Re: #21
Ultimate's very first announcement had no actual gameplay footage either.
For Smash, Nintendo might go with that same kind of minimal-info reveal even in a Direct.
    21AnonymousSep 6, 2026 09:56
But the fact that malo already knows about this might mean an announcement is coming soon…
    or it might not.
    33AnonymousSep 6, 2026 10:02
Just keep posting until one hits, and delete the ones that miss.
    Congrats, you're a leaker now too ☺

Since Mario Kart World is set on a single continent, a big DLC expansion adding either another continent

As usual, all they can make are sequels to games from the previous console.
That staleness is exactly why sales are falling behind the previous entries — same-old-same-old, Nintendo.

Isn't it commendable that they're reliably delivering exactly what customers want? Honestly that complaint just reeks of jealousy from not having a rock-solid character IP of your own.
You people crap out garbage like Babaanaru, Saros, or Concord and still have the nerve to nitpick Nintendo like this?
    66AnonymousSep 6, 2026 10:22
Then name a first-party Switch 2-exclusive title that's outsold its Switch equivalent.
    Go ahead, if you can.

    77AnonymousSep 6, 2026 10:28
Even if this is all true, anyone could've guessed that Smash, 3D Mario, Star Fox, and a Mario Kart DLC are in the works — so it's a real 'so what' kind of reveal.
At the end of the day, just rattling off titles is way too bland as information; if there's no detailed content behind the leak, it's worthless.
    98AnonymousSep 6, 2026 10:40
    Re: #77
Text-only leaks are actually the right amount, though.
If images or video started leaking too, it'd basically be confirmed already, and that takes the fun out of it.
    101AnonymousSep 6, 2026 10:42
    I'll leak something too.
    For Switch 2:
a mainline Kirby, a mainline Zelda, Mario Maker 3,
    Animal Crossing, WarioWare, Splatoon 4,
2D Mario, 3D Mario, Mario Party,
Mario Golf, Pikmin 5, Luigi's Mansion 4, and Paper Mario
are all in development or in planning.

    Re: #101
Looking at this, Switch 2 really isn't even trying yet right now.
And yet it's already steamrolling the competition (a dig at PS5, mockingly called 'trash-tation').

Background and key points of this discussion

It’s worth noting that claims from so-called “leakers” have no verification beyond the poster’s own say-so. Only the supposedly correct predictions stand out, and posters in the thread themselves point out that missed predictions get deleted — meaning malo’s track record isn’t something a third party can actually verify. Nintendo has made no official announcement about this title, this post offers no more specificity than the single word “in development,” and the timing of any reveal at a future Nintendo Direct remains unknown. In the back half of the thread, the discussion drifted away from the new Smash entirely and turned into the usual Gehazai-board slap-fight over whether Switch 2 software sales have surpassed Switch-era records. Readers should keep in mind that this comparison is happening only a short time after the new hardware’s launch, and neither side’s argument rests on solid evidence.

  • Young People Unused to Being Scolded Are Surging as ‘Praise-Only Parenting’ Backfires — 5ch: ‘The Yutori Generation Is Already Running Things’

An article spotlighting the rise of young people who “quit a part-time job the moment they’re called out for a mistake” or “grew up almost never being scolded” has become a hot topic on 5ch’s News Express+ board. The piece, excerpted from the book Does Self-Esteem Really Have to Be High?, argues that “praise-based parenting and education” — widely adopted to boost the self-esteem of Japanese youth — may not actually be delivering the results it promised. In the thread, opinions clashed between those blaming young people’s own lack of resilience and those blaming poor teaching and management skills — or outright harassment — from supervisors, while a side debate broke out over generational confusion around the term “yutori generation” (the generation raised under Japan’s relaxed, pressure-free education policy).

“I got yelled at for a mistake at my part-time job, so I’m quitting.” “Even when I’m in the wrong, being called out for it just makes me angry.” More and more young people today are growing up having almost never been scolded, whether at school or at home. To raise the self-esteem of Japanese youth — said to be lower than that of their Western counterparts — many people have championed “praise-based parenting and education.” But does it actually raise self-esteem? This piece is excerpted and edited from the book Does Self-Esteem Really Have to Be High? (Chikuma Shobo), digging into “why praise alone doesn’t raise self-esteem.”

Honestly the Ice Age generation (those who entered the job market during Japan's long post-bubble hiring freeze) is the real problem.
The ones who survived on pure self-reliance are the ones running things now, so they don't truly get why mentoring, a comfortable workplace, or psychological safety even matter.

Speaking as a new-grad full-timer myself — sure, a starting salary of 350,000 yen is nice, but they're cramming way too much training into us because they want us in management by our 20s.
Maybe it's the labor shortage, but they rush to develop us so hard that new hires burn out and quit early.
One of my fellow new hires quit after six months over it.
Also, the power harassment and sexual harassment from Bubble-era bosses over 40 is beyond awful.

Background and Key Points of Debate

The original article, excerpted from the book Does Self-Esteem Really Have to Be High?, centers on the claim that “praise-based parenting” doesn’t necessarily raise self-esteem. What stands out in the thread is that, rather than sticking to the intended topic — young people’s tolerance for being scolded — the discussion mostly devolved into a generational blame game over who’s really at fault. In response to posts that mistakenly equated the “yutori generation” with today’s youth, corrections pointed out that the actual yutori generation is now in their 30s and 40s and already holding management positions — showing how often this generational label gets mixed up. The thread also features competing views blaming the behavior of Ice Age-generation and Bubble-generation bosses on one hand, and young people’s own lack of resilience on the other, illustrating how hard it is to pin the issue on a single cause. The topic of self-esteem itself has long been studied in educational psychology, where it’s generally understood that the key factor isn’t a simple choice between “praising” and “scolding,” but rather the consistency of guidance and the quality of the relationship — a nuance barely touched on in the thread.

  • Kura Sushi’s Chiikawa Merch Prices Skyrocket — Staff Embezzlement Scandal Has 5ch Saying ‘Kura Sushi Is Finished’

Kura Sushi’s Chiikawa collaboration prizes became a hot topic the moment they went on sale, getting resold at absurdly inflated prices on flea-market apps. In the middle of the frenzy, it came to light that staff at some stores had been embezzling the prizes and keeping them for themselves. Because embezzlement, like theft, can be prosecuted without a complaint from the victim, thread posters repeatedly pointed out that if police move in earnest, Kura Sushi itself won’t be able to stay uninvolved. While some blame Kura Sushi’s lax management, opinions were split over creator Nagano’s continued silence on the matter, and the debate broadened into whether responsibility should fall mainly on the individual staff members who embezzled or on the company that let it slide.

To begin with, people had already been saying prizes were being skimmed before, but Kura Sushi tried to brush it off with 'that's just bad luck'
this time they tried the same excuse, but for some reason it got dealt with and exposed — so there's a real argument that Kura's own past negligence is what invited this

the only way to turn this around now is to dig up every employee who was skimming and string them all up

Kura's side flatly called it theft rather than embezzlement, so maybe it's not a staffer skimming from the displayed prizes but the restocking person hauling off a ton of it

this isn't just lawsuit risk, it's a guaranteed prison sentence — can't wait to see how this plays out
    110AnonymousSep 6, 2026 11:14
    Re: #104
Wait, didn't prison-with-labor sentences get abolished and merged with imprisonment-without-labor? Isn't it called a 'custodial sentence' (拘禁刑, kōkinkei) now?

Background and key points of this story

Embezzlement counts as occupational embezzlement, and like theft, it can be prosecuted without a complaint from the victim. Also, under the criminal code reform that took effect in June 2025, prison-with-labor and imprisonment-without-labor were merged into a single ‘custodial imprisonment’ sentence — the shift in sentencing terminology mentioned in the thread reflects this change. The Premiums and Representations Act sets an upper limit on the value of prizes relative to a customer’s purchase amount, so if prizes were being fraudulently siphoned off internally, the company could also be held accountable for its management from a legal-compliance standpoint. Where the thread split was over whether to place responsibility on Kura Sushi’s management structure as a company, or limit it to the individual staff members who committed the fraud — with the Self-Defense Force’s past scandals brought up for comparison. That said, reselling merchandise obtained legitimately through official raffles or purchases isn’t automatically illegal under the Premiums and Representations Act or criminal law, and care should be taken not to conflate that with goods that leaked out through embezzlement.

  • Top 3 Cars With the Worst Driving Manners: 5channers Rally Around ‘Prius’ and ‘Probox’

A thread on 5ch calling out the “Top 3 cars with the worst driving manners” blew up after naming the Prius and the Probox. It kicked off with users hunting for a third contender, and the discussion spiraled to name-check everything from the Copen and kei cars to high-end imports. The debate split into two camps: does the car itself make people drive worse, or is it really just about the driver’s age and job? For the Probox specifically, some pointed to its lightweight build as a genuine mechanical reason it tends to speed, pushing the conversation beyond mere stereotyping.

    Ah, I feel that.

Background and Key Points of This Discussion

The Probox is a Toyota commercial van known for its cargo-focused, lightweight body and bare-bones equipment. The thread’s claim that it’s “fast for its engine size” stems from that light weight, combined with its common role as a business vehicle pushed through long drives on tight schedules. Criticism of the Prius, meanwhile, points to an objective hybrid-specific design trait: thick C-pillars that limit rear and rear-side visibility. That said, the thread as a whole is built on anecdotal impressions rather than hard data — agencies like Japan’s National Police Agency don’t publish official violation rates broken down by car model. The fact that both “luxury cars have better manners” and “luxury cars have worse manners” were argued side by side also suggests the driver matters far more than the vehicle.

*This article is excerpted and summarized from the 5ch (Nandemo Jikkyō G) thread “Top 3 Cars With Bad Driving Manners: “Prius” and “Probox”.”

  • Koji Uehara: “Meikyukai’s 250-Save Bar Is Set Too Low” — Kazuhiro Sasaki: “It’s Fine As It Is”

Koji Uehara’s remark that “clearing 250 saves for the Meikyukai is too low a bar” — and Kazuhiro Sasaki’s response that “I want more young players to get in, so it’s fine as it is” — became a hot topic on 5ch’s live sports-commentary board. The Meikyukai is a group whose informal entry line is 200 wins or 250 saves for pitchers and 2000 hits for batters, though there have been cases — including Uehara himself and Kyuji Fujikawa — admitted under special exceptions. The thread ranged from debating whether it even makes sense to hold a starter’s 200 wins and a closer’s 250 saves to the same standard, all the way to more basic questions like what the actual benefit of joining the Meikyukai even is.

    Re: #112
Would Yamasaki really generate that much buzz?

Background and Key Points of the Debate

The Meikyukai (“Golden Players Club”) is a voluntary organization founded in 1978 with Masaichi Kaneda among its founders. Its informal entry line is “200 wins or 250 saves” for pitchers and “2000 hits” for batters. These standards can be relaxed through a board-approved special exception, and the memberships of Koji Uehara, Kyuji Fujikawa, and Kazuhiro Sasaki all involved such exceptions. What split the thread was whether it even makes sense to judge a starter’s 200 wins and a closer’s 250 saves by the same yardstick — Uehara argued Japan’s 250-save line is too low given that MLB has pitchers in the 400-600 save range, while Sasaki’s response reflected a wish to keep the door open so more young players have something to aim for. Worth noting too: Hiromitsu Ochiai, despite having more than enough credentials, turned down Meikyukai membership — a reminder that the club isn’t simply “a group where everyone was chosen by the same yardstick,” which is worth keeping in mind when following the debate over its standards.

※This article excerpts and summarizes the 5channel (Nandemo Jikkyo G) thread “Koji Uehara: “Meikyukai’s 250-save bar is too low” — Kazuhiro Sasaki: “I want more young players to get in, so it’s fine as it is”.”

  • New Kochikame Voice Recast for Ryotsu Splits Opinion — 5ch: “No One But Rasal Ishii Could Play Him”

A thread on 5ch’s Nanjyo (Everything Live) board blew up over the recast of Ryotsu Kankichi, the lead of the new anime adaptation of “Kochira Katsushika-ku Kameari Kōen-mae Hashutsujo” (Kochikame). Since Rasal Ishii’s portrayal has defined the character for decades, posters flooded in with complaints that the new voice felt off, like “it sounds too cool — it needs more vulgarity.” The discussion soon widened into comparisons with other franchises that have swapped out a lead character’s voice actor, such as Doraemon, Sazae-san, Lupin III, and Crayon Shin-chan, pitting an optimistic camp arguing it’s “just a matter of getting used to it” against critics who countered that “the more you love the original, the harder it is to accept.”

I still haven't gotten used to the new voices for Doraemon, Sazae-san, Lupin, Crayon Shin-chan, or Conan either.
You just shouldn't change the voice of a main character in a beloved national anime.
It's not about whether the new actor is good or fits — the character and the voice are already fused together in your head.

    Re: #97
Can't speak for Kochikame, but for kids' anime, bringing in new viewers matters most — the old-timers who keep whining that 'something feels off' aren't even the target audience to begin with.

Background and Key Points of This Discussion

Recasting a character long voiced by the same actor isn’t unique to Kochikame — it’s happened repeatedly throughout Japanese anime history, from Doraemon (Nobuyo Oyama to Wasabi Mizuta) to Sazae-san and Lupin III. Rasal Ishii’s portrayal defined Ryotsu for decades, but he’s been active in recent years as a local assembly member, and as one poster in the thread pointed out, “he’s a sitting politician now, so there’s no way that’s happening” — meaning there are practical reasons he can no longer easily keep up voice-acting work. Opinions in the thread split between an optimistic camp arguing it’s “just a matter of getting used to it, and it’ll settle down within a few episodes,” and a skeptical camp countering that “the character and the voice are already fused together in your head, so it’s not a question of skill or fit” — a reaction that has recurred with recasts in other long-running anime as well. It’s also worth noting that the thread’s posts never actually confirm who the new voice actor is — the closest thing to an answer is a comment noting that “everyone predicted it’d be Subaru Kimura, but it wasn’t.”

  • Onimusha’s Switch 2 Version Runs at an Average 45fps — 5ch: “Wouldn’t a Locked 40fps Be Better?”

According to testing by a gaming media outlet, the PS5 version of Onimusha: Way of the Sword offers a choice between two display modes — “Quality Priority” and “Performance Priority” — with Performance Priority holding around 60fps. The Switch 2 version, by contrast, has only a single display mode, and with VSync disabled it maintains an average of around 45fps, with the outlet calling it comfortable to play even in handheld mode. The article sparked a back-and-forth on 5ch’s Hardware/Industry (“Geha”) board between PS and Switch fans over the performance gap, pricing, and portability trade-offs between the PS5 and Switch 2 — before the thread veered off into the unrelated topic of GTA6’s frame rate issues.

The PS5 version comes with two display modes: “Quality Priority” and “Performance Priority.” Both let you uncap the frame rate, but even uncapped, they reportedly hover close to each mode’s target figure.

The Switch 2 version has only one selectable display mode. With VSync disabled, it runs at an average of 45fps, and the outlet rated it as especially comfortable to play in handheld mode.

In the actual footage, whether during combat or movement, the PS5’s Performance Priority mode holds around 60fps, while Quality Priority mode hovers around 35–40fps. The Switch 2 version can likewise be seen maintaining roughly 45fps overall.

    104AnonymousSep 6, 2026 10:03
But then again, Nishio (Switch fanboy) never actually buys anything

Background and Key Points of This Discussion

Onimusha: Way of the Sword is Capcom’s new action title, releasing across multiple platforms including PS5 and Switch 2. What sparked discussion in this comparison was a spec difference: the PS5 version lets players switch between “Quality Priority” and “Performance Priority” modes, while the Switch 2 version is limited to a single display mode. On the thread, the conversation wasn’t so much about the raw performance gap itself as it was a mix of grievances over the two versions costing the same despite the handheld/console spec difference, tangled up with comparisons that dragged in the unrelated topic of GTA6’s frame rate issues. Worth noting — something that doesn’t come through in the quoted excerpts alone — is that GTA6 is a separate title with different conditions around motion blur and resolution, so straightforward numerical comparisons should be taken with a grain of salt.

Background and Key Points of This Discussion

Morning Musume. is known as a group where, every time new members join, their rising popularity becomes visible through tour costume changes and fan calls. The newly added members discussed here, including Suzuki Moa, have only just joined, so the split opinions in the thread reflect a phase where looks and first impressions at the venue tend to get talked about before actual ability does. Note that the original thread contained some comments that outright disparaged certain members’ appearances, so this article was compiled with those posts excluded. Comparing fan popularity and reporting a “new favorite” (oshimashi) are staples of Hello! Project-related threads, but it’s worth keeping in mind that they can easily spiral into baseless superiority arguments.

  • Switch 2 ‘Console + microSD Card Tops ¥100,000’ — 5ch Snarks: ‘Priced Like a Powerhouse, Performs Like… Well, Switch 2’

A thread on 5ch’s Hardware/Industry (Geha) board sparked debate over Switch 2, after posters pointed out that “despite being the weakest hardware this generation, the console plus a microSD card runs over ¥100,000.” The discussion centered on storage capacity: Switch 2’s usable space comes to roughly 230GB, far less than the PS5’s approximately 670GB, drawing a wave of complaints. While some titles — like the Final Fantasy VII Remake — need nearly the same amount of space on both consoles (around 90GB), others show a much bigger gap: Resident Evil takes up 75GB on PS5 but only 32GB on Switch 2. Opinions split between buyers who think the choice should come down to performance and value for money, and those who say it should be about which games you actually want to play.

    Re: #76
By that same logic nobody would choose PS either

PS5 has great value for the performance you get
Switch 2's cost-performance is just terrible

    Re: #84
Are you joking with this 'value for money' talk?
People choose a console based on the games they can play
Sure, spec value matters too, but only once the games you want are available on both
    92AnonymousSep 6, 2026 09:22
I own both a Switch and a PS, but I only play on Switch 2 these days
The graphics aren't that different from Switch 2 anyway, and PS can only be played in front of a TV, so mine's in storage
    100AnonymousSep 6, 2026 09:32
    Re: #92
Lol, you definitely don't actually own a PS5
The graphics gap is way too big for that to be true
    104AnonymousSep 6, 2026 09:34
    Re: #100
    I do own one

PS is such a hassle that mine's boxed up in storage lol

Background and Key Points of the Debate

Switch 2 ships with 256GB of internal storage, but once the system reserves its share, the usable capacity comes to roughly 230GB. That looks weak next to the PS5 (825GB-plus models), which offers an effective capacity of around 670GB, and the gap kept coming up again and again in the thread. That said, storage use for the same title can vary between platforms depending on compression methods and texture settings, so it’s not something that can be reduced to a simple number comparison. Performance and cost-effectiveness debates have long been a staple flashpoint on the Geha board, but real purchasing decisions usually hinge on “are the games I want to play on it,” so readers should be aware that the spec-war rhetoric and actual buying behavior often don’t line up.

  • Does Being Single at 35 Cancel Out All Your Other Stats? 5ch Debates

A claim that “once you’re over 35 and still single, every other stat you have — education, income, height — becomes meaningless” sparked a debate on 5ch’s Nandemo Jikkyo G board (a general live-chat forum). The thread split between posters who say a person’s worth boils down to single-vs-married, and others firing back with examples like baseball star Hayato Sakamoto and Ichiro to argue “marital status alone doesn’t decide how you’re judged.” Married posters piled on to needle singles, while some questioned just how fulfilling married life really is, and across 17 separate reply chains the clash between “stat theory” and “happiness theory” kept going.

Being highly educated? Just makes you a creepy grind-nerd.
High income? Just makes you a money-obsessed creep with nothing to spend it on.
Tall? If you can't even get a girlfriend with that, something's wrong with you as a person.
    6AnonymousSep 6, 2026 07:57
    35 pretty much decides it.
By 39 it's already confirmed, automatically (no going back).
    8AnonymousSep 6, 2026 07:59
Sorry not sorry — while you married guys are busy building a house on a 35-year mortgage and spending your whole life paying it off, I've been raking it in on stocks lol

And then you'll just die early, right??? What's the point of investing then.
    21AnonymousSep 6, 2026 08:13
On the flip side, it's wild how just being married cancels out being short, ugly, bald, stupid, and trash.
    31AnonymousSep 6, 2026 08:30
    Re: #21
So being fat doesn't get cancelled out, huh…
    22AnonymousSep 6, 2026 08:14
    Re: #18
Man, you can only cling to "at least I'm married" and yet you actually managed to get married…

Well, I guess that makes singles ranked below guys who can only cling to being married.
Is that really okay with you?
    24AnonymousSep 6, 2026 08:16
    Re: #22
    No it doesn't.
    Is Hayato Sakamoto below you?
Achievements outside of marriage — like your career — obviously get factored in too.
    25AnonymousSep 6, 2026 08:20
    Re: #24
That's not how it works anymore.
Unlike the Heisei era when childless singles could walk around proudly, things have shifted toward "anyone who's had even one kid deserves respect."
And the birth rate has actually been leveling off.
    29AnonymousSep 6, 2026 08:25
    Re: #25
    Exactly this.

"You don't have to get married (or have kids)" — that's a Heisei-era value.
So people say "update from that Showa-era 'you must marry' mindset!!"

But in Reiwa, "having kids is just righteous" is basically the vibe now.
    33AnonymousSep 6, 2026 08:33
    Re: #25
Does that actually prove Hayato Sakamoto is ranked below some random parent in the eyes of society?
That's not even addressing the point.
Answer the question you were actually asked first.
    34AnonymousSep 6, 2026 08:34
Just because you leveled up your life with some random woman while you were young, you think that lets you look down on someone like Takeru Sato in terms of stats?
    That's some serious self-esteem you've got there.
    37AnonymousSep 6, 2026 08:37
    Re: #34
You're not Takeru Sato or Hayato Sakamoto, though.

And it's not even remotely the same situation.
Doesn't it embarrass you to even say that?
    35AnonymousSep 6, 2026 08:35
No matter how many casual hookups Sakamoto has, if he stays single his whole life, there will be people who look down on him for it.
That's how much of a negative stat being single in old age really is.
    38AnonymousSep 6, 2026 08:38
    Re: #35
Sure, there are welfare recipients (namapo, slang for people on livelihood assistance) who look down on corporate wage slaves too.
    That doesn't mean anything.
Judge it by the average societal evaluation.
    39AnonymousSep 6, 2026 08:39
If you can't get married and leave kids behind, you're a complete loser biologically.
Sure, a tiny handful of handsome guys or celebrities can easily marry and have kids even past 40, but they're just outlier alphas.
For an average regular guy, 39 is the final deadline, so you'd better hurry.
    41AnonymousSep 6, 2026 08:41
    Re: #39
Well, if a celebrity — or an "alpha," whatever — gets married, it gets reported in the news,
but for a regular person, it never becomes news at all,
    so nobody even knows.

There it is, there it is.
Anything inconvenient gets waved off as an exception.
The moment you start making exceptions based on job, income, or looks, your logic already falls apart.
    44AnonymousSep 6, 2026 08:43
    Re: #38
That's exactly the average societal evaluation, though.
If Sakamoto turns 50 still racking up hookups and never marries,
society won't see him as a success — just as "new money with nothing but a sex drive."
    47AnonymousSep 6, 2026 08:46
    Re: #44
    Whoa.
Then if you have kids, go ask your friends or coworkers:
"I have kids, so that makes me a greater person than Sakamoto, Furuta, or Ichiro, right?"
How many people do you think would say, "Yeah, that's totally true"?
I really don't think anyone treats it that way.
    48AnonymousSep 6, 2026 08:47
Do people really care that much about how others see them?
    54AnonymousSep 6, 2026 08:53

    Right?
If you're single but happy, I don't see the problem.
Though whether you can still be happy single past 50, who knows.
    49AnonymousSep 6, 2026 08:47

Furuta and Ichiro are married, though.
And I never made having kids the issue anyway.

    I got played.
    58AnonymousSep 6, 2026 08:57
You're that jealous of single people?
Well, I guess you would be.
What's even fun about marriage, it's ridiculous.
    64AnonymousSep 6, 2026 09:03
    Re: #58
You've got no credibility saying that until you've actually experienced it.
    59AnonymousSep 6, 2026 08:58
"Being single is easier" — I get that.
    "I don't even have a girlfriend" — why though?
    60AnonymousSep 6, 2026 09:00

Being older, single, having zero intention of marrying, but still having a girlfriend — that's the most nonsensical combo there is.

A single guy enjoying his life > a married guy devoting his time to a woman who only satisfies him enough to let him mock singles.

From a biological standpoint, non-reproducing individuals aren't necessarily worthless.
Looked at alone, an individual that can't reproduce may be unfortunate in that it leaves no offspring, but multiple studies show that, viewed at the species level, such individuals play an important role in supporting the species' overall prosperity.

    103AnonymousSep 6, 2026 09:35
    Re: #97
Sounds like a comparison to me.
If what you're doing married is the exact same thing you did single — hanging around the bottom-feeders of Nan-G on a Sunday.
    106AnonymousSep 6, 2026 09:36
    Re: #97
Nah, I don't think married people can compare fairly either — everyone wants to believe their current situation is the best.
The only people who could actually judge it properly are those who got married and then lost their spouse, like through death, and had no choice but to go back to being alone.

Background and Key Points of This Debate

The claim that “being single ruins all your other stats” is a recurring line of argument on 5ch’s marriage-hunting and dating-related threads, and this time it played out by invoking real-life celebrities — pro baseball players, actors — to test whether “not being married reduces your social evaluation to zero.” Some posts pointed to a value shift in the Reiwa era toward “having kids is simply righteous,” but that’s just one poster’s personal impression, not something backed by statistics. Likewise, the “39 is the final deadline” figure never rises above folk wisdom — no supporting data was ever presented in the thread. In the end, the argument boiled down less to whether being single is good or bad, and more to a single question: can you actually score someone else’s life using stats?
