  • Juice=Juice’s Ebata Kisaki & Endo Sakari Headed to Tokyo Game Show — 5ch: “No days off, huh?”

NHN PlayArt has announced the lineup of stage-event performers for Tokyo Game Show 2026, revealing that Juice=Juice’s Ebata Kisaki and Endo Sakari will appear at the “Yo-kai Watch Puni Puni” booth. The event lineup features seven titles in total, including “LINE: Disney Tsum Tsum” and “#Compass.” Over on 5ch’s Hello! Project board, comments showed concern for the busy pair — “That’s our Eba-Aka combo for you,” “No days off, huh?” — while others noted that outside work tends to be skewed toward Ebata, and the thread also got lively debating which generation grew up on the Yo-kai Watch boom.

    Background and Talking Points

Tokyo Game Show (TGS) is Japan’s largest gaming expo, held every September at Makuhari Messe, and this time NHN PlayArt has announced the stage-event lineup for seven titles, including “Yo-kai Watch Puni Puni.” In the thread, one reason floated for Ebata Kisaki’s selection was that “Eba’s a gamer, she bakes bread, she’s got a wide range,” suggesting that within Juice=Juice she’s often tapped for outside work thanks to her talk skills and love of games. At the same time, comments like “Endo again” and “feels like Eba gets all the outside gigs” reflected a perception that outside bookings skew toward certain members. The thread also pointed out that on September 21, other Hello! Project groups have tours and events happening nationwide, making this appearance just one more thing squeezed into an already packed schedule. Yo-kai Watch was a cultural phenomenon especially among kids who were in elementary school around 2014, which sparked a side debate about what age that original fanbase would be now.

  • Angerme FC Presale Sparks Buzz on 5ch Over Relaxed Rule Allowing Non-Member Companions

For Angerme’s fan-club presale for their Pia Arena MM show, it’s come to light that while the applicant themselves must be a linked MOALA member, their companion can apply even without membership — and the news sparked discussion on 5ch. Within Hello! Project, where companions are usually also required to register as members, this laxer rule stood out as unusual, and thread posters focused on why the bar had been lowered at this particular moment. Users pointed to precedents such as Tsubaki Factory, which similarly relaxed its conditions for other groups, as well as the fact that Juice=Juice, by contrast, tightened its conditions and still sold out — leading to a split in reactions, with some seeing it as “a safeguard against fraud” and others suspecting “they’re worried about ticket sales.”

    >For this presale, applicants are required to link their MOALA account. Companions may apply even if they are not members.

    83AnonymousSep 14, 2026 17:44
Even Budokan seems risky for them — why are they trying to do this at Pia Arena, which costs more to rent?
    94AnonymousSep 14, 2026 17:47
    Re: #83
Pia Arena only holds about 9,000 even at full capacity,
so if they pull in 7,000 it'll look decent enough — the bar's lower.
Also, Budokan's been used so many times by Hello! Project that it always gets compared to past attendance figures, but Pia Arena, despite having been planned for use before, has ended up being used only by Juice=Juice so far,
and since Juice=Juice is popular right now, that gets written off as 'well, of course' — so there's nothing within Hello! Project to compare it against. That's the big advantage.
    84AnonymousSep 14, 2026 17:44
So two fans could both buy two consecutive-numbered tickets and just use whichever pair works out better for them?
    89AnonymousSep 14, 2026 17:46

Even if you tried to scalp them, would they actually sell?
    93AnonymousSep 14, 2026 17:47
This is probably just going to be the default from now on.
So if Juice=Juice gets the same treatment next time, we're allowed to say they're on the decline, right?
    95AnonymousSep 14, 2026 17:48
    Re: #93
If Juice=Juice kept the same venue size and just loosened the conditions, the competition ratio would only skyrocket even more.

Background and Key Points of This Discussion

Pia Arena MM (Yokohama) holds roughly 9,000 people, and as a venue used by Hello! Project, its only prior booking has been a Juice=Juice concert — making it something of an unusual choice. Thread posters noted that, unlike the Nippon Budokan, where attendance figures invite easy comparison, Pia Arena has so few precedents that “pulling in 7,000 people would look respectable enough,” which may be why it was chosen. What sparked the discussion this time was that, for Angerme’s presale, the applicant (as a MOALA member) must link their account, but a companion can apply even without membership — a rule considered lax within Hello! Project, where requiring companions to register as members too has generally been the norm. Reactions in the thread were split between those who saw it as “a natural relaxation aimed at preventing fraud” and those who suspected it “reflects worries that tickets won’t sell out.” It’s worth noting that references in the thread to fraud suspicions involving other groups’ members or the use of multiple accounts are all speculation with no evidence provided, and should not be taken as confirmed fact.

  • Indonesia Sets Goal of 600,000 Workers in Japan, Doubling Down on Automotive Jobs and Language Training

The Indonesian government has reportedly set a goal of increasing the number of its citizens working in Japan from just over 220,000 to 600,000, strengthening the pipeline of workers sent abroad mainly through the Technical Intern Training and Specified Skilled Worker programs. If achieved, this would put Indonesia on par with Vietnam, which has so far topped the list of countries sending foreign workers to Japan. On the ground, the plan reportedly emphasizes placing workers in automotive-related jobs while expanding Japanese-language education. On 5ch, a thread on the topic saw arguments clash between those blaming Japan’s labor shortage on “NEETs who won’t work” and those countering that it’s really a matter of “wages and working conditions,” alongside comments expressing concern about AI replacing jobs and about how foreign workers are treated.

Indonesia Sets Goal of 600,000 Workers in Japan, Focusing on Automotive Jobs and Boosting Language Training – Nikkei

    September 14, 2026, 5:00 AM [Subscriber-only article]

Indonesia is stepping up its dispatch of workers to Japan, centered on the Specified Skilled Worker program. It aims to raise the number of its citizens working in Japan from just over 220,000 to 600,000, a target that would put it on par with Vietnam, currently the top source country for foreign workers in Japan. To get there, Indonesia is putting effort into expanding Japanese-language education at home.

Why is Indonesia pushing so hard to send its workforce abroad?
Is there some kind of kickback in it for them?

Background and Key Points of This Discussion

Foreign worker acceptance in Japan today centers on the “Specified Skilled Worker” program, launched in 2019 to succeed the Technical Intern Training program, and it has expanded in sectors facing severe labor shortages such as caregiving, construction, and manufacturing. Vietnam has been the largest source country, with Indonesia ranking next; if this new target is achieved, the two countries would be roughly equal in scale. The thread’s disagreement centered on the cause of Japan’s domestic labor shortage — one side pointing to “NEETs and job-avoidance,” the other to “inadequate wages and working conditions” — though both sides took for granted the underlying structural factor of a shrinking workforce due to Japan’s aging, low-birthrate population. The thread also featured firsthand complaints from someone who actually came from Indonesia to work in Japan, a reminder that the friction on the ground doesn’t necessarily show up in the headline numbers about how many workers are being sent.

  • Akihiro Nishino Sparks Debate After Saying ‘Slow-to-Respond Staff Should Just Quit’

On September 14, King Kong’s Akihiro Nishino posted a gripe on X about “staff who are slow to respond,” and it got picked up as a news article. The Yahoo News excerpt frames it as a general point that “a delayed reply stalls the other person’s decisions and creates a cost for the whole team,” but the thread title presents it as targeting “staff who need to care for children or family members,” and 5ch users were split — some reacting to the remark itself, others bringing up his past history of alleged workplace harassment.

    9/14 (Mon) 16:21

Akihiro Nishino (46), of the comedy duo King Kong, updated his X (formerly Twitter) account on the 14th, describing the kind of staff he’d “like to see quit right away.”

Nishino opened with: “Yesterday I called out a staff member for being slow to respond, but I don’t think slow responses should just be waved off as ‘being bad at your job.’ Response speed is really about how you treat the other person’s time. When my reply is delayed, it stalls the other person’s decision-making, and that in turn stalls the work of whoever’s downstream of them. In other words, slow responses aren’t just my own problem — they rack up costs for the whole team.”

    Re: #1
This is a total bait-and-switch thread title.
Way too different from what's actually in the article.

Background and Key Points of the Debate

Nishino is known for his unconventional business approach — his picture book “Poupelle of Chimney Town” and crowdfunding a museum among them — but he’s also repeatedly drawn criticism for overbearing treatment of staff, and his contract situation with Yoshimoto Kogyo has been a recurring talking point. This particular post is, on its face, a general statement about work — that slow responses rack up costs for the whole team — and the quoted portion never actually mentions “childcare or caregiving.” The thread title ties that general statement to “staff who need childcare or caregiving,” but as one commenter points out, there’s a real gap between the article’s actual content and the thread title, and that gap has itself become one of the thread’s talking points. It’s worth reading not just for opinions on the remark itself, but also for how faithfully the headline reflects what was actually said.

  • Game Freak Reveals New Title ‘Rain Then Shine Girl’ — Weather-Forecast Game Sparks Mixed Reactions

Game Freak has announced “Rain Then Shine Girl” (Ame Nochi Hare Onna), a new smartphone game that syncs with real-world weather data. Director Shigeru Ohmori said the idea grew out of a simple thought: if people are going to check the weather forecast every day just to do their laundry, why not go ahead and build a game around checking the forecast? On 5ch’s hardware/industry (Geha) board, some praised the concept itself as interesting, while others — pointing to the studio’s recent string of underwhelming titles — argued Game Freak should focus on properly making Pokémon games instead of churning out oddball projects. Opinions also split over whether the non-Pokémon output amounts to the dev team letting off steam, with some citing past titles like 2024’s “Pandora Land” as a reference point for whether this backlash is fair.

It's simple — of course they'd want to make other things as a breather. These days there aren't many developers left with enough breathing room to do stuff like this instead of just grinding out their bread-and-butter series.

    123AnonymousSep 14, 2026 12:41
    Re: #31
If Monolith Soft took over, the Pokémon designs would probably get iffy too, and the characters' popularity would tilt toward a niche otaku crowd and decline. If Monolith were actually mainstream enough to be trusted with Pokémon, their own games would be selling a lot more than they do. Come back and say that once they've posted first-week worldwide sales of 5 million a few times.

    Background and Points of Debate

Game Freak has a long track record of developing non-Pokémon titles alongside its main series — including “Drill Dozer,” “Pulseman,” “Tembo the Badass Elephant,” and “Pokémon Sleep,” which ties gameplay to a real-life habit — and “Rain Then Shine Girl” falls squarely within that tradition. It’s worth noting that the claim circulating in the thread that Game Freak “sued Palworld” is unsubstantiated and, as of September 2026, has not been officially confirmed. The disagreement in the thread comes down to differing evaluation criteria: some see non-Pokémon development as a waste of resources that distracts from the main business, while others see it as an investment that keeps the dev team’s morale up and helps attract new fans. Both sides point to the success or failure of past non-Pokémon titles as evidence, and the debate remains unresolved.

Background and Key Points of the Discussion

BEYOOOOONDS is an idol group under Hello! Project, and Kojima Hana is a relatively new member who joined from another talent agency (reportedly linked to Stardust Promotion). The “sentaku” (choice) and “sentaku” (laundry) wordplay that dominated the thread refers to a double meaning in the new single’s title, and appears to be a pun linking a member’s arrival from another agency to the idea of “washing away” that agency’s color. Within Hello! Project, sister groups Juice=Juice and ANGERME are frequently compared on CD sales and event turnout, and this center casting was likewise discussed in terms of that group dynamic. While some thread posters viewed Kojima’s casting favorably, unverified speculation questioning her background also circulated online; such baseless claims have been excluded from this summary. Separately, chatter about a veteran member’s possible graduation timing is speculation based on the precedent of a past member who graduated at 27, and it should be noted this is not an official announcement.

And for bottled drinks, the bottle costs more than what's inside —
the contents are worth less than 5 yen.

Background and Key Points of This Discussion

The “Morning FamiMa Combo Discount” is a limited-time promotion starting September 15, available only between 5:00 and 11:00 AM, offering a rice ball or bread paired with tea, black tea, or coffee for 250 yen — it doesn’t cover every product. On the thread, some pointed out that “convenience store ingredient costs run under 20%, and for bottled drinks the container costs more than what’s inside,” making the cost structure behind the 250 yen price point a talking point. Given rising rice and nori prices, some speculated this was “less a discount and more a way to paper over price hikes.” The main sticking point was how to judge the price itself, with opinions split between “200 yen would be a deal, but 250 is so-so” and “it’s still cheaper than the discounted sandwiches.” There were also plenty of posts ranking taste as 7-Eleven, then Lawson, then FamiMart, though it’s worth noting personal taste varies a lot here.

  • NHK Taiga Drama ‘Toyotomi Brothers’ Ratings Sink Below 10% for Second Straight Week Amid Backlash Over Whitewashed Hideyoshi

NHK’s Taiga drama ‘Toyotomi Brothers’ has posted single-digit ratings for a second straight week, coming in at 9.9% after last week’s 9.2%. The series had already drawn criticism from descendants and viewers over its historically inaccurate portrayals, including its depiction of Nakagawa Kiyohide. On 5ch, many blamed the low ratings on the show’s writing, which they say softens Hideyoshi’s brutal historical record to paint him as a good man—though some pushed back, arguing that ‘Taiga dramas were never strictly accurate anyway’ and that it can be enjoyed ‘as historical fantasy,’ leaving opinion split.

Following last week’s 9.2%, ratings have stayed in the single digits again. This drama has already faced plenty of criticism from descendants and viewers over its historically inaccurate portrayals, including how it handles Nakagawa Kiyohide.

Why did they change it so the massacre at the Battle of Kozuki—crucifying and impaling women and children—wasn't even Hideyoshi's order? And then they portray him as a good man grieving over it…
And whenever things get inconvenient, they just conveniently give Hideyoshi amnesia.

I don't really mind some deviation from historical fact.
The early episodes were actually good, but around the time Hideyoshi got amnesia, it started feeling like they were forcing him into the 'good guy' role way too hard.
Wouldn't it have made for better drama if Hidenaga had to cover for Hideyoshi as he gradually fell into darkness?
    61AnonymousSep 14, 2026 16:21

    59AnonymousSep 14, 2026 16:21
Since they made the younger brother the protagonist, I think they could've leaned into the older brother's dark side.

Ieyasu in 'Tokugawa Sandai' and the leads in 'Kamakura-dono' did plenty of brutal stuff too.

    Re: #61
Exactly, and there was even a scene early on like 'I'm scared of my brother.'
It could've gone: brother slowly falls into darkness, but supporting him is the only way to end the age of war; except the now-mad brother has no intention of ending the wars and instead launches the invasion of Korea; the brothers clash, but at the moment of death he remembers their old ideals and the show ends on a wish for peace.
A cliché arc like that would've been fine by me.

It'd be fine if they just said 'we're doing historical fantasy!'
The problem is they said 'we're doing a Taiga drama!'

    Background and Key Points

Unlike commercial network dramas, it’s unusual for an NHK Taiga drama to drop into single-digit ratings at all, and ‘Toyotomi Brothers’ has now hit that mark two weeks running, following 9.2% the week before—a historically weak showing. This comes against a backdrop of earlier criticism from descendants and viewers over inaccuracies such as the portrayal of Nakagawa Kiyohide. In the thread, the main complaint wasn’t really the departure from history itself, but rather the show’s approach of softening Hideyoshi into an overly sympathetic figure—glossing over uncomfortable historical episodes like the massacre at Kozuki Castle by, for instance, giving him amnesia. At the same time, a fair number of posters pushed back, noting that ‘Taiga dramas have rarely stuck strictly to the historical record anyway’ and that it ‘can be enjoyed as historical fantasy’—a nuance that’s easy to miss, since the real debate wasn’t whether the show deviates from history, but how it deviates and how well the writing pulls it off.

    Re: #90
Nah, even with direct debit you'd normally still check the bill, lol.

    Background and Talking Points

Like electricity and water, city gas generally isn’t cut off the instant a payment is missed — a demand notice is typically sent first, followed by a grace period of roughly one to two months. In the thread, accounts differed between people who said service was cut “immediately” and others who reported a one-to-two-month grace period, so it’s worth noting that the actual grace period varies depending on the provider and the specifics of the missed payment. There’s also a claim in the thread that this same “gas got shut off twice” story was previously told on a show following the Japan Record Awards, suggesting it may be an anecdote Aina has trotted out more than once to illustrate just how busy she’s been. Missing the demand notice is presumably tied to a busy lifestyle that leaves little time to check the mail, but that remains speculation within the article rather than a confirmed fact.

    45AnonymousSep 14, 2026 16:58
    Re: #11
Sounds like the kind of guy who'd say 'you weren't murdered, so complain once you are.'
    12AnonymousSep 14, 2026 16:52
There's no 'freedom' to deceive viewers on TV, you know.
    13AnonymousSep 14, 2026 16:52
Same with the Matsumoto case, same with the Nakai case — unrelated people were bashing the alleged victims back then too.
    14AnonymousSep 14, 2026 16:53
Well, it's mainly the fans of the alleged victims doing the bashing, isn't it
Though since he's already passed away, saying anything now is too late anyway.
    15AnonymousSep 14, 2026 16:53
You're also butting into stuff that's none of your business and criticizing it, lol.
    16AnonymousSep 14, 2026 16:53
Don't tabloid TV shows always have uninvolved celebrities who aren't even parties to the case wielding one-sided 'justice' to bash whoever's cast as the villain?
    18AnonymousSep 14, 2026 16:53
I did think this was going too far, but seriously
even this 'cuckolded old man' (a jab at Shiraku's own scandal) is sticking his nose into it now?
    19AnonymousSep 14, 2026 16:54
Neither of those two has actually retired from showbiz, right?
    No condolence comments from them?
    20AnonymousSep 14, 2026 16:54
Honestly on SNS right now it's less about the women
and more about the Koenji stuff —
tons of petty, scummy little episodes keep surfacing.
    21AnonymousSep 14, 2026 16:54
So then you can never work as a commentator again for the rest of your life, right?
    Better never take another job.
    22AnonymousSep 14, 2026 16:54
Guess we shouldn't report on murders or fraud cases either then.
    23AnonymousSep 14, 2026 16:54
Hold on, you're not a victim yourself either, yet you're commenting like you know it all.
    24AnonymousSep 14, 2026 16:54
Celebrities always say the same things
'she should've gone to the police,'
    'it's the woman's fault'
    — this industry is so out of touch, that's all they ever say.
    25AnonymousSep 14, 2026 16:55
If he's acknowledging there were victims, doesn't that mean he's also acknowledging there was a perpetrator?
People who aren't victims still feel anger at murder news too, don't they
I don't direct anger at the actor, but I still get mad at the rapist character in a drama.
    27AnonymousSep 14, 2026 16:55
It's precisely because the socially weaker side gets silenced by the powerful when they speak up
that it's important for everyone to criticize together.
    32AnonymousSep 14, 2026 16:56
If you say that, nothing could ever be criticized
Do you never criticize any incident in the world at all?
    33AnonymousSep 14, 2026 16:56
Then you should quit being a commentator too.
    34AnonymousSep 14, 2026 16:56
Oh, so he's just a controversy-baiting entertainer then
Same as Hezuma Ryu (a YouTuber infamous for attention-seeking stunts).
    35AnonymousSep 14, 2026 16:56
Guess that's his declaration: 'I won't criticize anything unless it happens to me.'
    106AnonymousSep 14, 2026 17:08
Classic style of needlessly spreading it to people who didn't even know about it in the first place.
    119AnonymousSep 14, 2026 17:11
    Re: #106
    Exactly this, lol
The decent fans know it looks bad so they're trying to just ignore it and let it blow over,
but some guy who doesn't actually care about Mori Reo — just wants attention for himself — keeps picking pointless fights and dragging his name through the mud.
    116AnonymousSep 14, 2026 17:11
There are so many stories floating around about what a genuinely good guy 'Harry' (an online nickname for Mori) was,
which makes this all the more amusing.
    136AnonymousSep 14, 2026 17:15
    Re: #116
Seemed like the type people would dislike, but he was actually a stand-up guy
Guess we should all live sincerely enough to be remembered that way.
    142AnonymousSep 14, 2026 17:15
Is this the first time someone's died and nothing but bad press has come out about them since?
    149AnonymousSep 14, 2026 17:17
    Re: #142
What about the Johnny's boss (Johnny Kitagawa)…
    155AnonymousSep 14, 2026 17:20
Well, keeping it to toilet-wall graffiti here on 5ch is about as far as a lady or gentleman should take it.
    175AnonymousSep 14, 2026 17:23
    Re: #155
    Good point
I don't do Yahoo comments or X, so 5ch is about the right level for this.
    158AnonymousSep 14, 2026 17:21
He's being treated like the 'Demon of Koenji' now, lol.
    174AnonymousSep 14, 2026 17:23
    Re: #158
Kind of sounds cool though, honestly
    'Demon of Koenji.'

Background and key points of this discussion

This controversy started when, following Mori Reo’s death, a wave of posts online revived his past relationships with women. Tatekawa Shiraku’s argument touches on a question that keeps resurfacing in entertainment scandal coverage—”does only the person directly involved have standing to criticize?”—and in the thread, some compared it to past scandal coverage involving figures like Hitoshi Matsumoto and Masahiro Nakai, where unrelated third parties piled on the alleged victims. On the other hand, there’s strong pushback against stretching that logic to cover clear wrongdoing like murder under a blanket “only those involved can speak up” rule, so opinion remains split. It’s also worth noting that since Mori has passed away, the specific facts behind the “relationships with women” claims can no longer be verified, and much of what’s circulating in reports and on social media remains unconfirmed rumor.

*This article is excerpted and summarized from the 5ch (Entertainment/Sports News+) thread “Tatekawa Shiraku: ‘I could understand it if the people who were hurt were saying this, but it’s unrelated people criticizing’ — bashing of Mori Reo draws SNS backlash.”
