  • 2026 Prefecture Appeal Rankings Drop — 5ch: “This Is Just a Tourism Ranking”

The Brand Research Institute’s annual “Prefectural Appeal Rankings” for 2026 have been released, sparking a wave of reactions in a thread on 5ch’s News Express+ board. The discussion kicked off with someone pointing out that the ranking measures appeal as a tourist destination, not whether people actually want to live there. Some pushed back, noting that Hokkaido and Okinawa draw plenty of transplants in addition to tourists, while residents and natives of lower-ranked prefectures like Ibaraki, Saga, and Chiba jumped in to defend their hometowns’ charms. The thread also saw disagreements over comparisons between neighboring prefectures, such as Kanagawa vs. Saitama and Osaka vs. Kyoto.

This is just a tourism ranking, right?
Would you actually move to Hokkaido, Kyoto, or Okinawa?
    Nah, didn't think so.

Hokkaido and Okinawa are full of people who moved there, you know?
When I was stationed in Okinawa for work, apparently half the kids in my local friend's child's elementary school class were kids of mainlanders who'd relocated there or transferred for work.

    They're totally different lol
As a tourist destination, Kanagawa has Kamakura, Hakone, Shonan, Yokohama's Minato Mirai, Chinatown, and Motomachi, and Route 1 runs through it — it's part of the center of Japan.

Saitama is where the edge of Japan's center starts to fall off.

Also, if we're talking about actually living there, it's overwhelmingly Saitama.
Yokohama is nothing but hills, way too densely packed, taxes are high, and the roads and trains are jam-packed.
Kanagawa overall is cramped with no breathing room, and the cost-performance is terrible.

Honestly, if we rank Kanto tourist spots without any favoritism, it's:

↓① Tokyo (goes without saying, #1 in Japan)
    ↓② Kanagawa (Hakone, Kamakura, Chinatown)
    ↓③ Gunma (Japan's #1 hot spring cluster)
    ↓④ Tochigi (Toshogu Shrine, Nikko)
    ↓⑤ Saitama (Chichibu)
    ↓⑥ Ibaraki (the joke entry)
The true last place: ⑦ Chiba (a totally half-hearted, middleman prefecture)

    That's how it is.

Speaking as a country bumpkin myself,

there's no way Saitama, Ibaraki, or Gunma should be ranked this low.
I'm genuinely jealous of places where you can get to Tokyo right from your hometown.

Okinawa has the mildest swings between hot and cold.

Background and Key Points of This Topic

The Prefectural Appeal Rankings is a survey by the Brand Research Institute asking ordinary consumers about their image of each prefecture — it measures “recognition and favorability,” which is separate from actual resident numbers or settlement rates. This mismatch is the backdrop behind the pushback from Ibaraki and Saga residents and natives in the thread. Prefectures with solid everyday infrastructure but few tourist attractions tend to score low, while prefectures with famous tourist spots tend to rank high — a structural quirk that has long been pointed out about this ranking. Also, as one comment about “escaping perpetual last place” shows, the rankings shift year to year and are easily swayed by image strategy and media exposure. What readers can easily get wrong is assuming this ranking directly reflects “livability” or “economic strength” — and most of the pushback in the thread stems from that very misunderstanding.

  • Is Initial D Just Low-Class Trash? 5ch: ‘Those Cars Were Dirt Cheap Back Then’

A thread titled “Isn’t Initial D kind of lame with how low-class it feels?” went up in 5ch’s Nanimo Jikkyo G (anything-goes live-commentary board), and replies piled up around the prices of the cars the series’ street racers drive and how much their mods would’ve cost. The first half of the thread started from the question “where’s the money for modding a car even coming from?” before turning into a back-and-forth of specific numbers about what the used car market actually looked like around 2000, when the series began serialization. Posters swapped personal stories about buying the pricey cars from the show — the 34 GT-R, the FD, the Silvia — for just a few hundred thousand yen, clashing with others insisting they must have cost millions. In the end, the thread caught fire less over whether the characters were “low-class” and more over correcting each other’s fuzzy memories of the market.

Getting one handed down by a senior for next to nothing
was a classic story too, bikes included
like 'I don't need this Zephyr anymore, want it for 50,000 yen?'

Background and Key Points of This Debate

Initial D ran as a manga from 1995 to 2013, and in-story details — like the appearance of the Honda S2000 — suggest the story is set around the year 2000. The reason price perceptions clashed so hard in the thread comes down to how wildly the used market for Japanese sports cars has swung over time. From the late ’90s through the early 2000s, sports cars that had just gone out of production flooded the market and crashed in value, so it wasn’t unusual to find these models going for a few hundred thousand yen. In recent years, though, a boom in classic-car popularity has sent the same models soaring into the millions. That gap meant posters arguing from “today’s market sense” and posters arguing from “the market sense of back then” kept talking past each other. In the end, the thread’s real point of contention wasn’t whether the characters counted as “low-class,” but how to read this gap between generations.

Veterans like Teoscar basically coast all season thinking 'I'll just peak in October,' which makes the guys who actually grinded the whole year look like suckers.
They should make a rule: if you haven't played 100 games in the regular season, you can't play in the postseason.
    87AnonymousOct 4, 2026 09:33
    Re: #82
lol that'd be way too harsh a rule.
    89AnonymousOct 4, 2026 09:34
Teoscar, Freeman, Snell — they slack off all season so they've got tons of stamina saved up for a big postseason run.
    Someone needs to regulate that.
    97AnonymousOct 4, 2026 09:38
    Re: #89
Teoscar and Freeman are both the type who actually want to play, though.
The ones really slacking off are more like Snell and Glasnow.

Background and Key Points of the Discussion

MLB Division Series are best-of-five, and the team that wins Game 1 reportedly advances at a high rate. The Dodgers again have one of the majors’ top payrolls this season, and several posts in the thread took the view that “of course they should win with the No. 1 payroll.” Meanwhile, on Ohtani’s hitting, reports quote him describing this season as “one of my less good years personally,” and the thread was split between taking that slump at face value and chalking it up to the team’s conditioning management. There were also several posts calling veterans like Teoscar Hernández and Snell “slackers” for playing less down the stretch — worth noting this is fan speculation about usage patterns, not an official explanation from the club. The roughly 104°F (40°C) heat on game day was also cited as a possible factor in the low attendance, though this article could not confirm that against official attendance figures.

  • Detective Precure Movie Bonus to Be Handed Out Over 4 Straight Weeks — 5ch: “They’re Fully Committed to Milking Us Dry”

In the live-watch thread for “Detective Precure! ++Star Detective Precure!++,” the announcement that theatrical bonuses would be given out over four consecutive weeks split viewer reactions. Fans chasing the merch were thrilled, while others worried that in areas with fewer screenings, collecting the full set would be impossible. The episode itself also sparked discussion about the relationship between the Director—who’d been hiding her true identity—and Anna-chan’s grandmother, as well as the over-the-top finishing move.

    What happened to Kobayashi…?

Background and Key Points of This Discussion

Splitting theatrical bonuses across multiple weeks is a classic promotional tactic widely used for anime films to encourage repeat viewings of the same work. The thread’s split opinions pitted fans delighted by the lavish giveaways against those worried that theaters with fewer screenings wouldn’t let them collect the full set. On the story side, posters were divided over whether the twist — that the grandmother who’d hidden her identity and the Director are the same person — involves retained memory or deliberate pretense, and no official explanation was given within the thread. One point readers may easily get wrong: the “four consecutive weeks of distribution” isn’t a nationwide guarantee — it depends on each theater’s own screening schedule.

In a chat thread on 5ch’s “Nandemo Jikkyo” board, idle chatter flowed from one topic to the next — Hanshin Tigers pitcher Morishita winning three pennants in his four years with the team, the everyday annoyance of not being able to find beef tallow at the supermarket, and figures of Kasane Teto. Amid all this, a post claiming “the value zone of this thread is probably guys in their mid-40s” got pasted twice, drawing replies pointing out “you mean volume zone, don’t you” — sparking a small flare-up of back-and-forth over the thread’s age demographic.

    102AnonymousOct 4, 2026 09:02

    Background and Key Points

“Value zone” is originally a marketing term for the price range that sells best within a given product category, and it’s easily confused with the similar-sounding “volume zone.” In the thread, the term was pasted twice to poke fun at the posters’ age bracket, prompting replies suggesting it was likely “just a mix-up” with “volume zone.” That said, there’s no objective data on the thread’s actual age demographics — it was simply a self-reported joke repeated for effect. There’s also a post claiming Hanshin pitcher Morishita has won three pennants in his four years with the team, but it gives no specific years or detailed stats — it’s a loose remark that just links his tenure to the team’s championship record. This kind of freewheeling “Nandemo Jikkyo” chat thread is characterized less by digging deep into any one topic than by a steady stream of disconnected bits — baseball, figures, shortages of everyday goods — and this thread is a typical example of that format.

  • Southern All Stars’ Kazuyuki Sekiguchi’s company under-reported ¥580 million in income — 5ch: “How much is this guy even making?”

A Fuji TV report revealed that a company run by Southern All Stars member Kazuyuki Sekiguchi was found by the Tokyo Regional Taxation Bureau to have under-reported roughly ¥580 million in income following a tax audit. The report noted that the stock transactions in question were processed only on the books, with no actual money changing hands, and attention focused on the sheer size of the amount already said to have been paid. On 5ch, discussion centered on the view that this looks less like tax avoidance and more like outright tax evasion, alongside surprise that a member who doesn’t write the band’s lyrics or music could be earning this much — with the conversation spreading into speculation about just how much frontman Keisuke Kuwata himself must make.

Honestly, as long as you've got Kuwata and his wife, you don't need the other members.
Unless Sekiguchi is actually the one writing the lyrics and music, honestly Southern All Stars would work fine even if the other members got swapped out for completely different people, as long as Kuwata and his wife are there.

Background and Key Points of This Story

“Under-reported income” and “tax evasion” carry different legal weight. Depending on how clearly wrongdoing and intent can be proven, a National Tax Agency audit can end simply with a finding of under-reported income and a demand for back taxes, or it can escalate into a criminal tax evasion case referred to prosecutors. What’s been reported here is the former — this has not become a criminal case. On the thread, some pointed to the article’s description of stock transactions being processed only on paper with no actual money changing hands as grounds for suspecting malicious tax evasion, while others speculated he was let off lightly because he’s a celebrity. It’s worth noting that the actual severity of the situation can’t be judged from the article’s information alone. The thread also discussed a claim that songwriting and composing royalties go only to Keisuke Kuwata and Yuko Hara, with the remainder split five ways among the other members — but it should be noted this is unverified information from the thread itself, with no cited source.

  • Mounjaro Weight-Loss Warning: Japan Obesity Society Says Don’t Use the Diabetes Drug to Crash Diet

The Japan Society for the Study of Obesity announced on October 3 that the diabetes drug “Mounjaro” should not be used for rapid weight loss or extreme dietary restriction. The statement warns against the drug’s growing use for dieting purposes, citing risks of health problems such as vomiting and abdominal pain, and will be published on the society’s website on the 5th. In response to this report, reactions on 5ch centered on explanations of how Mounjaro actually works — that it isn’t insulin itself but a drug that promotes insulin secretion — along with firsthand accounts from people actually using it or being prescribed it, covering the price gap between insured and cosmetic use, and how easily people rebound after stopping.

    > How much does Mounjaro even cost a month?

For 4 weeks (1 month) without insurance (cosmetic use), four pens of the weak 2.5mg dose run just under ¥10,000.
    That's a bit over ¥2,000 a pen.
Most people find that dose underwhelming, but
the YouTuber from "Sanocchi TV" had it hit so hard he got sick and had to quit.
Said food sat in his stomach for days and he couldn't stop burping.
Normally people bump the dose up when 2.5mg feels too weak, but how it hits you varies a lot person to person.

With insurance for diabetes, it gets cheaper.

Isn't Mounjaro a drug that promotes insulin secretion?
If your secretion's already normal despite being fat, wouldn't it just strain your pancreas, and you'd end up diabetic anyway even after losing the weight? How does that work?
    119AnonymousOct 3, 2026 23:55
    Re: #107
I'm actually a type 2 diabetic prescribed Mounjaro by a specialist, so let me explain what I know.

Mounjaro, the diabetes drug → is NOT an insulin injection.

Mounjaro is a GIP/GLP-1 receptor agonist,
and works the same way as the hormones (GIP and GLP-1) that promote insulin secretion.

When blood sugar rises, GIP/GLP-1 get released from the small intestine,
and once they reach the pancreas, they signal it to release insulin.

Diabetics inject insulin to lower their blood sugar,
but Mounjaro gets injected to make the pancreas secrete insulin instead.
Either way, both insulin and Mounjaro are injections aimed at lowering blood sugar.
    124AnonymousOct 4, 2026 00:05
    Re: #107
Apparently it gives insulin secretion more of a rhythm, so the pancreas actually gets to rest properly when it should — which is supposed to be a good thing. But that's strictly for type 2 diabetics whose insulin output is already sufficient.
    Re: #121
That's exactly why they didn't give Mounjaro an obesity indication and instead released a separate obesity-targeted version under the name "Zepbound." Letting just anyone use it to lose weight would probably be a problem, but they clearly do want in on obesity treatment.
    121AnonymousOct 3, 2026 23:59
It's pointless trying to stop it —
this is the first genuine "weight loss drug" humanity has ever gotten its hands on,
so plenty of people are going to want it no matter what.
    127AnonymousOct 4, 2026 00:12
Taking Mounjaro doesn't actually make you lose weight by itself.
All it does is dull your appetite somewhat, so calling it a weight-loss drug is a stretch.
It's fundamentally a treatment for diabetics that makes the pancreas secrete insulin to lower blood sugar.
Diabetics using it for anything other than treating their diabetes is simply using it wrong.
    129AnonymousOct 4, 2026 00:17
    Re: #127
Uh, if your appetite drops, you lose weight. That's literally how it works.
    145AnonymousOct 4, 2026 01:49
Still, after using Mounjaro alongside exercise for my type 2 diabetes, I did pick up a few things. Like, "spot reduction" isn't actually a real way to lose fat — you slim down from your extremities first, and your belly is the very last place to start shrinking, so fat builds up differently depending on the body part. Also, you don't just lose weight from Mounjaro plus exercise alone — you need to get the right nutrition while exercising and also restrict your diet, or it won't happen. So thinking you can lose weight on Mounjaro alone is naive, and honestly that's the wrong way to use it in the first place — that's not really "losing weight" properly. Good learning experience, though.

The gym is where you go to build muscle.

Background and Key Points of This Topic

Mounjaro (tirzepatide) is a type 2 diabetes drug that stimulates both the GIP and GLP-1 receptors to promote insulin secretion — as the thread’s more technical replies point out, it is not an insulin injection itself. Because its appetite-suppressing effect is strong, off-label “cosmetic purpose” prescriptions have spread, a trend that became easier to access following this August’s drug price revision. Overseas, it’s approved for obesity under the name “Zepbound,” but in Japan it remains positioned primarily as a diabetes treatment, with no standalone approval for obesity itself. The thread split over whether appetite loss and the resulting weight loss should be seen as “the drug working” versus “just not eating,” and opinions further diverged over how to weigh rebound risk after stopping against muscle loss and other side effects. This article keeps the technical explanations of how the drug promotes insulin secretion rather than being insulin itself, along with firsthand accounts of pricing and insurance realities, while cutting out personal attacks and off-topic jokes.

  • Modrić stunned as Croatia suffer historic 0-7 thrashing by England at home

In the 2026/27 UEFA Nations League, Croatia suffered a crushing 0-7 defeat at home to England on October 3 (local time). Croatia’s previous record margin of defeat was 0-6 against Spain in 2018, making this the biggest loss in the national team’s history. They conceded four goals in the first half alone, then let Kane and Saka add more in the second half, prompting the local newspaper 24sata to brand it “the worst match in history.” On 5ch forums, many pointed to the aging of key players like Modrić and a stalled generational transition, drawing attention to the contrast with an England side stacked with young talents like Bellingham and Saka.

The UEFA Nations League 2026/27 League A, Group 3, Matchday 3 clash between Croatia and England took place on October 3 (local time), with Croatia suffering a massive 0-7 defeat at home. Their previous record defeat margin was 0-6 against Spain in 2018, so this surpassed that to become the largest losing margin in the national team’s history.

Croatia conceded the opener to Harry Kane in the 8th minute, then goals from Jude Bellingham in the 21st, Anthony Gordon in the 39th, and Bukayo Saka right before halftime made it four goals down by the break. The second half brought more from Kane and Saka, and Morgan Rogers added a seventh in the 87th minute. Croatia never mounted a response, sealing a historic rout.

Local media tore into the beaten Croatian side. Croatian newspaper 24sata called it “the greatest humiliation at Rujevica,” slamming it as “one-sided from start to finish — a game of cat and mouse,” and noting that “the players were completely unprepared, both mentally and physically.”

    Both Baturina and Vušković started.

    Background and Key Points

Croatia have long been a powerhouse, finishing runners-up at the 2018 World Cup and third at the 2022 World Cup, but the squad is said to be aging around veterans like Modrić, with the next generation slow to emerge. England, by contrast, are stacked with players in their early twenties like Bellingham, Saka, and Gordon, and are often held up as a contrasting example of a successful generational handover. Some in the thread floated match-fixing suspicions given the lopsided score, but the Nations League also serves as a developmental competition, and gaps can show up in extreme ways between teams at different stages of squad-building. It’s more reasonable to read this as a generational talent gap surfacing rather than anything untoward. For reference, the previous record losing margin was 0-6 against Spain in 2018, a mark this result has now surpassed.

The results of a TRILL survey asking 300 men and women aged in their teens to seventies “Which actor was best suited to play Tokugawa Ieyasu?” became a hot topic on 5ch’s Geinou/Sports News+ board. Masahiko Tsugawa came in 2nd, Toshiyuki Nishida 3rd, and taking 1st place was Matsumoto Jun, who played Ieyasu in NHK’s 2023 taiga drama “What Will You Do, Ieyasu?” The thread saw confused reactions like “Tsugawa at #2 and Matsujun at #1 is basically a troll,” while others argued “Ieyasu’s a minor-league character anyway, so casting doesn’t matter much,” and plenty of posts fondly recalled past acclaimed Ieyasus played by Hisaya Morishige, Rentaro Mikuni, and Sakae Takita. Opinions were split on which actor got it “right.”

    TRILL, Oct. 4

When you hear “actor who played Tokugawa Ieyasu,” many of you probably recall the mood of each particular drama, along with that actor’s expressions, voice, and bearing. From the weighty “old crafty fox” image to a more human figure wrestling with doubt and conflict, each actor who has taken on Ieyasu has left a different impression.

Ieyasu's just a weaker character compared to Nobunaga and Hideyoshi, so casting doesn't really matter.

Is it true there's a taiga drama where Lord Mitsukuni randomly time-slips in, throws around modern slang, and then — just when you think a tabloid reporter has barged onto set — starts up what looks like a program from a rival network?

The taiga drama 'Aoi Tokugawa Sandai,' where Noriko Shoji — a famous real-life entertainment reporter at the time — appeared playing an entertainment reporter.
And yes, it includes words like 'come-from-behind home run,' 'privacy,' and 'meter.'

Seiyo Uchino in 'Sanada Maru' was great, though. If we're talking the 'so-bad-it's-funny' category, Parumu takes it (a nickname for a particular comedic Ieyasu portrayal).
    30AnonymousOct 4, 2026 06:50
    Toshiyuki Nishida was Hidetada, though.
His flustered acting during the whole 'arrived late to Sekigahara' episode was genuinely excellent.
And the way he portrayed Hidetada growing more dignified as he became shogun and then retired ruler was equally impressive.

    Yeah, exactly.

I'm watching the 'Aoi Tokugawa Sandai' DVD right now.
No matter how many times you watch it, it's a brilliant taiga drama.

    The recent ones are garbage.

I actually think Matsushita, who's playing him right now, is good — there's this hard-to-pin-down quality to him. He does a good job in the Tokai Pickles commercials too.

    The drama itself was well-regarded.
Though Takita's almost too good-looking for the role.

Takita's Ieyasu feels a bit too 'clean-cut'/benevolent for the role (what Japanese fans call 'white,' i.e. too nice).
    In my ranking, he's #3.

By the way, Kohei Matsushita in the current drama 'Toyotomi Brothers' is actually pretty good.

Or rather, aside from that, there's a lot of good casting in 'Toyotomi Brothers.'

Koroku, Takatora, and Toshiie are pretty good.
Personally, I also like Mitsunari as the intellectual pretty-boy type who'd obviously get hated by the hardline military faction. Nihyoe's so-so though.
    66AnonymousOct 4, 2026 07:03
    Wait, shouldn't he be #1?

    Tsugawa, hands down.
His exchange with the defeated Mitsunari (played by Emori) after Sekigahara is a masterpiece —
starting with that soothing 'Cold, isn't it…' to win him over, politely letting him speak,
then after letting him say whatever he wanted, coldly cutting him off with 'We shall likely not meet again. Farewell.'
    That's masterful.

No other actor pulls off that moment where
the crafty old fox and the ruthless ruler intersect.

    Before Okehazama, Kimutaku.
From Okehazama through the march on Kyoto to expelling Ashikaga Yoshiaki, Koji Yakusho.
    After that, Koji Takahashi.

    That's my take.

More than in 'Aoi Tokugawa Sandai,' it's Masahiko Tsugawa's Ieyasu in 'Dokuganryu Masamune' that makes you think, 'Ah, so this is probably what Ieyasu was really like.'
When Katsu Shintaro's Hideyoshi and Watanabe's Masamune first met at the siege of Odawara, with Masamune in his white funeral robes, Ieyasu watched it all coldly yet composedly — it was wonderful how it captured the sense of a man serving Hideyoshi faithfully, as he was known to be at the time.

Background and Key Points of the Discussion

It’s worth noting that this survey was a consumer poll of 300 people conducted by TRILL, not an assessment of acting skill by experts. Ieyasu is often discussed in terms of a weighty ‘old crafty fox’ image, and the 2nd- and 3rd-place actors, Masahiko Tsugawa and Toshiyuki Nishida, both belong to a generation known for that kind of heavyweight performance. The 1st-place pick, however, was Matsumoto Jun, who played Ieyasu in NHK’s 2023 taiga drama ‘What Will You Do, Ieyasu?’ — a very different generation and image. That gap is exactly what split opinion in the thread: posters familiar with older taiga dramas argued that ‘the role suits a more small-time-looking Ieyasu’ and that ‘Tsugawa comes closest,’ while their standards didn’t line up with those of posters who’d watched the newer series. The fact that the survey spanned respondents from their teens to their seventies is likely another reason the generations disagreed on what counts as well-cast. It’s also worth noting that the thread never specified exactly which work Nishida’s ‘well-suited’ performance referred to — the real point of debate wasn’t so much whether the casting itself was appropriate, but what standard should even be used to judge a ‘well-suited’ performance.

※This article is an excerpt/summary based on the 5ch (Geinou/Sports News+) thread “[Ieyasu] 2nd Place ‘Masahiko Tsugawa,’ 3rd Place ‘Toshiyuki Nishida’ — 300 People Pick the ‘Most Fitting Actor to Ever Play Tokugawa Ieyasu,’ with 1st Place Praised as ‘A New Kind of Ieyasu’ and Having ‘Charismatic Aura’.”

  • Dodgers Reveal NLDS Rotation: Skubal Game 1, Snell Game 2, Yamamoto Game 3, Glasnow Game 4

The Dodgers have announced their starting rotation for the NL Division Series against the Braves: Skubal in Game 1, Snell in Game 2, Yamamoto Yoshinobu in Game 3, and Glasnow in Game 4. The thread’s main debate centered on why ace-caliber Yamamoto — who carried a full workload last season — wasn’t tapped for Game 1 instead of Game 3, but opinions settled once data was cited showing “the Braves are weak against left-handed pitching.” It was also pointed out that since September, the Braves’ OPS against lefties sits dead last among all 30 MLB teams at .585, which many agreed gave the lefty/righty sequencing real logic. The thread also touched on Yamamoto’s home-versus-road performance gap and Ohtani’s hitting numbers.

Dodgers name Snell as their Game 2 starter — rock-solid rotation locked in: Skubal → Snell → Yamamoto Yoshinobu → Glasnow

Yeah, outside of his Cy Young years he's barely been durable.
As a team or a fan, you'd rather have someone like Yamamoto who performs consistently.

Background and Key Points of This Topic

MLB has a custom of announcing starters for the first several postseason games in advance, and how a team splits up its left- and right-handed starters is closely tied to analysis of the opponent’s weaknesses. The data cited here — that since September the Braves have been extremely weak against left-handed pitching (a league-worst .585 OPS) — gives a clear rationale for not leading with a right-handed ace like Yamamoto Yoshinobu, though that nuance doesn’t come through from the headline alone. The thread split over whether Yamamoto, as the “true ace,” should have started Game 1 instead; since factors like innings pitched and rest between starts are all intertwined, no clear consensus emerged. Yamamoto’s home-versus-road performance gap (such as a 3.13 mark at home versus 1.77 on the road) was also cited as a factor in the sequencing — worth noting this isn’t a simple ranking by ability, but a rotation built around matchups and managing workload.
