Juice=Juice’s Mifu Kawashima Hits 100,000 Instagram Followers — 5ch: ‘Too Pretty to Be Real’

The story

Mifu Kawashima, a member of Hello! Project’s Juice=Juice, has seen her personal Instagram account cross 100,000 followers. Thread posters pointed out she’d actually hit that mark two days earlier, and noted that only five current Hello! Project members have topped 100,000 followers — four of them from Juice=Juice alone, a lopsided split that drew plenty of comment. Talk also turned to Reon Inoue’s high posting frequency and speculation that the agency may be deliberately holding back some members’ social media activity, with the conversation shifting from the growth itself to the question of “why aren’t some members growing?”

Sakura-chi's numbers suddenly spiked
7AnonymousOct 30, 2026 19:59
When I checked yesterday it was around 99,940 — did it actually drop at some point?
8AnonymousOct 30, 2026 19:59
Only 5 active Hello! Project members have over 100,000 followers
4 of them are from Juice=Juice

Both Ebata and Omifu (fan nickname for Kawashima) have been stuck this month, huh
Guess you really don't grow without media exposure
10AnonymousOct 30, 2026 20:00
No wonder she's blowing up, she's just too pretty

Other idols are plateauing around this time of year too
Next month's music specials are where it really counts
It's all about how big a mark she can leave
13AnonymousOct 30, 2026 20:07
If she gets outside collabs like Ebata did, she'll grow even more
26AnonymousOct 30, 2026 20:16
Mippuru (Kawashima's nickname) is on fire, on fire
34AnonymousOct 30, 2026 20:23
It's kind of sad that Arisawa's been held to posting nothing but Stories, seemingly so she doesn't overtake Kawana or Kawanishi
even though Arisawa herself said in an interview that she wants to post her own content too

Re: #36
That's just because all the top-tier members graduated one after another
The other one is Nonaka, the Instagram old-timer

Re: #38
Huh, is that really how it is……
39AnonymousOct 30, 2026 20:24
Re: #36
Nonaka's the only active member with over 100,000 followers
Oda doesn't even have Instagram, by the way
48AnonymousOct 30, 2026 20:27
Makino's at 278,000
meanwhile Inoue Rei(on) just barely crossed 170,000
49AnonymousOct 30, 2026 20:28
Juice=Juice is basically being forced to keep updates stingy across every platform right now, so under those conditions it matters a lot when they manage to set any kind of record
Kawashima did great
Now let's aim for a sold-out Budokan
50AnonymousOct 30, 2026 20:28
Isn't it also just that she posts more often?
The other members are slacking way too much
52AnonymousOct 30, 2026 20:30
Re: #50
The only one who definitely posts more often is Reon Inoue
Inoue's already broken through so there's nothing to be done about her at this point, but the other members are apparently still told to hold back because they're being kept in check

Re: #52
So that's the twist behind why her posting frequency is weirdly low despite all her media exposure?? Seriously??
64AnonymousOct 30, 2026 20:37
The pace has really slowed down though
I thought she'd hit 100k by early October
66AnonymousOct 30, 2026 20:40
Ebata's the type who carefully curates her shots so she doesn't post much
but Mippuru posts quite a lot
Rei-rei's posting frequency is just insane
67AnonymousOct 30, 2026 20:41
I think everyone agrees that once Dambara and Inoue graduate, Juice=Juice is suddenly going to be short on firepower
but Kawashima's special, so I want them to keep pushing her hard while Dambara and Inoue are still around

Re: #67
It's not that it's happening naturally, it's that they want it to happen — that's why they're deliberately holding others back
If they just managed things normally, every member would be able to pull numbers

Background and Key Points of This Discussion

Within Hello! Project, fans often speculate that the agency adjusts members’ social media posting frequency and media exposure to balance out popularity across the group. The thread comment suggesting that “UP-FRONT is deliberately holding her back” is likewise just speculation drawn from the observed gap in posting frequency — not an officially confirmed agency policy, which readers should keep in mind. Follower counts are also just a daily snapshot that keeps shifting; as one poster in the thread noted, she’d already crossed 100,000 two days earlier, so it’s probably more accurate to read these numbers less for their literal value and more as a rough picture of who’s currently drawing attention. The thread was split between those who attribute growth to posting frequency and media exposure, and those who see it as deliberate suppression by the agency — worth remembering that neither side of that argument is confirmed.
