The story
An enhanced-visual version of the tri-Ace-developed RPG “End of Eternity” (released overseas as “Resonance of Fate”), dubbed the “ENHANCED REMASTER,” was released without warning for PS5 and PC on October 30, 2026. It’s the second remaster of the game, following the original 2010 PS3/Xbox 360 release and the 2018 “4K/HD EDITION,” and since the announcement left pricing and the terms for owners of previous versions unclear, it sparked a wave of surprise and confusion on 5ch’s Hardware/Industry (“Geha”) board. Reactions ranged from praise calling it “a one-of-a-kind masterpiece battle system” to weary complaints of “another remaster, really?”, and arguments broke out over how to interpret the pricing details.

・HDR

but it was the kind of game where you'd hit a wall hard if you didn't really get the battle system.
This and Natural Doctrine (another infamously brutal tactical RPG) are both classics.
Don't need another remaster, honestly
It's a game about cherishing a withered, barren land
Feel like the remaster cut something out compared to the PS3 version — is the Enhanced version basically the same as that remaster?
Second remaster in 8 years
Today it showed up on the PS Store too
Guess it's about time I give it a shot
They say "AI" but it's just a regular upscale, isn't it
Are they treating this like some indie title, not taking it seriously enough?
Even though I played it twice, on the 360 and PS4
Is this the same as that Korean PS4 version?
Sounds like it's free on Steam though
apparently on PS even owning the old one doesn't count — it's treated as a totally separate purchase, so you have to buy it fresh (4070 yen)
People who lie like that must be pretty ugly on the inside
Huh?
Isn't that what the article says?
Nope. If you own the PS4 version it's 990 yen
I think it's because it left Sega's hands and became tri-Ace's own in-house IP, so now they can do whatever they want with it as a tech demo
Ah, so that's what happened
Didn't realize that happened
I don't get the impression tri-Ace has been doing much lately, but I guess they had the budget to buy out the IP outright
Or maybe this IP's asset value was just incredibly low…
That happened quite a while ago
This is the game where your characters just shake in terror and get knocked out of commission over and over, it's brutal
Someone recommended this to me and it practically made me give up on PlayStation entirely, come on
Yeah, it's the game where you can get killed by a stray dog before you even finish the tutorial lol
It's Sega, not Square Enix, newbie
No way, lol, the gun wouldn't even fire anymore

Background and Key Points of This Discussion
“End of Eternity” is a tri-Ace-developed RPG released by Sega in 2010, known overseas as Resonance of Fate. After the PS4-targeted “4K/HD EDITION” launched in 2018, the rights to the IP appear to have passed from Sega to tri-Ace itself (see post 42), and it’s speculated that once it became an in-house IP, it became easier for tri-Ace to put out additional remasters like this one as a kind of technical demo. Pricing information also got tangled up in the thread — a post claiming that even owners of the previous edition would have to pay full price (post 30) drew accusations of being a liar, but a later correction (post 52) clarified that owners of the old PS4 version can actually buy it for 990 yen. The game itself is defined by its distinctive bullet-simulation-style battle system, but it’s also notorious for brutal difficulty — including getting killed by enemies before you’ve even finished the tutorial — and this thread saw plenty of posters reliving that baptism by fire.
