The story
Hololive talent Laplus has claimed she received harassing content even though her DMs were closed, prompting her agency to issue a warning — but the explanation set off a storm on 5ch. Posters raised technical objections, pointing out that the DM system in question should require mutual follows and a code, making it hard for an outsider to send anything in the first place, and questions piled up over whether the official explanation actually matched the platform’s real specs. The discussion also spread to how people interpreted her own past remarks that sparked the controversy, and to the work habits of her fellow 6th-generation members, splitting opinion across the thread.
What people said
It's pretty weird to have the agency officially comment on 'secret account' stuff too, don't you think?
Wasn't 'Horns' (Laplus's nickname, after her dragon horns) totally shut down by '"Your DMs are closed. And even if it wasn't a DM but something you deleted, there's no trace, right?"'?
They weren't open a minute ago, but they're open now
Why would she bother opening them up lol
Re: #23
That's not what's happening.
You guys just don't understand the spec.
It does open, but you need a code.
Why would she need to bring this up only now?
She's supposedly a pro, so she should've handled that more carefully, but then the agency, trying to smooth things over, brought up the chin-totsu (unsolicited sexual image) issue that hadn't even come up yet, and that's what made it messy.
So basically the agency's the dumb one here
That point does have some merit, but there's also the issue that she ran a stream basically ranking a 'women I'd want to get off to' tier list (shiko = masturbate) — what kind of comments did she think viewers would leave after that? And there's also doubt about whether it was really just close female friends talking privately.
Maybe they're all at 'Mii-chan' level (shorthand for a notoriously immature/problem streamer)?
Actually, her first-person pronoun is the same as the one who got fired right away. The horns thing too — reusing character concepts like that looks really half-assed in hindsight.
It was the period when Hololive was growing fastest, so subscribers and viewers would show up no matter what she did. People are starting to say the 6th gen doesn't understand how hard the earlier generations worked to build that up, and they're just coasting on the Hololive brand.
You can do it via replies, can't you?
That's true, actually. Laplus says it's something she's fine with, but you never really know what the other person's true feelings are. Still, I don't think that kid's wrong that there's a completely different level between that and some random middle-aged stranger sexually harassing her.
Also, there's a difference between privately chatting among women and streaming it where comments come in reacting to it. Of course, some of those comments might have been weird too.
Yeah, they're famous as the 6th gen where literally everyone has a way-too-high rate of problematic remarks.
If they actually come after me with a disclosure request over this, I'll turn it into a meme.
I wonder about that… On Discord, Towa and Laplus are already being called 'traitors.' According to the Hololive purists (lol), even collabing outside the agency isn't okay, so collabing with a guy is apparently an act of betrayal.
The writing style reeks of someone way older — is this really her?
Her IP address matched exactly during a stream, and she's already apologized for it herself.
It's the IP she accidentally self-disclosed during some kind of connection speed test.
Imagining how awkward the mood's gonna get gives me chills.
Is harassing 'Horns' actually meant as harassment? I always figured it was just the guy's own sexual preference.
Her manager checks her DMs.
On X and TikTok, you can't send DMs unless you follow each other.
TikTok doesn't even let you send images in the first place.
So it reached her alone via replies or mentions, without a single one of her huge fanbase or any antis noticing?
This story's basically dead in the water.
Even with replies or mentions, her fans would definitely have noticed.
Background and Key Points of This Discussion
“Chin-totsu” is slang for harassment where sexual images or messages are unilaterally sent to a streamer, and reports of this kind targeting female VTubers have repeatedly made headlines before. What split opinion in this thread wasn’t whether the harassment happened, but whether it was consistent with the platform’s stated specs (which require mutual follows or an approval code). Since there was no clear explanation of how the harassment occurred despite her DMs being “closed,” voices pointing out the technical contradiction stood alongside those criticizing the agency’s lack of explanation. There’s also an account suggesting the whole controversy started from backlash over her equating risqué remarks between acquaintances with sexual harassment from a complete stranger. The fact that the main point of contention was less the harassment report itself and more the “consistency of the explanation” and the “initial response” is something that’s easy to miss from the article text alone.
