Angerme’s Suzuran Ise 300th-Show Celebration Idea Splits Opinion on 5ch

The story

A post on X (formerly Twitter) announced that Angerme’s Suzuran Ise would reach her 300th performance since joining the group at the Kurashiki concert, and called on fans in the audience to mark the occasion by sticking a congratulatory paper strip to their chests. In response, the Hello! Project board on 5ch (Japan’s largest anonymous forum network) reacted with unease that the idea came from outside her dedicated fan community, with posters pointing to past incidents — like handing out paper sunflowers at a graduation concert — where similar projects caused confusion on-site after permission was never actually granted. Pushback along the lines of “keep this within your own circle,” plus skepticism about the whole culture of celebrating round-number performance counts, dominated the thread, with the core tension being how far a well-meaning fan project should go in dragging other audience members along with it.

Is Angerme the only group where people celebrate hitting some arbitrary number of shows?
10AnonymousOct 8, 2026 09:10
What's even the point of 'Nth performance'?
12AnonymousOct 8, 2026 09:12
No wonder people steer clear of Angerme shows.
13AnonymousOct 8, 2026 09:14
Did YOSHIKI call in to complain? (joking reference to a viral meme image, not actually about the X Japan musician)
14AnonymousOct 8, 2026 09:15
Re: #1
Skip the mystery event — just pay for seat-fillers to pack the house.
15AnonymousOct 8, 2026 09:15
I seem to recall the fake sunflowers being an even bigger mess than some cheap paper strip.
16AnonymousOct 8, 2026 09:16
Is this the Sasaki bar-event story? The one where they were officially handed out at the door and it really soured the mood.
17AnonymousOct 8, 2026 09:19
The sunflowers — was that the Yokoyama bar event?

Re: #18
The scary part is that this was the official one.
19AnonymousOct 8, 2026 09:22
Is the organizer actually sitting there counting these up? Does that total include bar events and festivals too?
22AnonymousOct 8, 2026 09:26
Wasn't this the one Kamiko had people set up for her, and then it just quietly got forgotten?
23AnonymousOct 8, 2026 09:27
If we're talking sunflowers and Yokoyama — volunteer fans prepared a huge batch of fake sunflowers for her final hometown return show in Saitama before graduation, but permission to actually hand them out apparently never came through, so you ended up with a bunch of otaku wandering around holding bags stuffed full of sunflowers.
25AnonymousOct 8, 2026 09:38
Just stick it on your forehead like a jiangshi (the stock Chinese 'hopping zombie' from old horror films, known for the paper talisman stuck to its forehead).
26AnonymousOct 8, 2026 09:41
Osaka was a disaster — is Okayama actually going to sell out?
27AnonymousOct 8, 2026 09:42
I always assumed the thing at Kamiko's graduation concert was meant as a surprise FOR Kamiko, so when Kamiko herself started directing it, I was like '…wait, what?'
28AnonymousOct 8, 2026 09:43
Okayama's only got one show, so it's in way better shape than Fukuoka — though it still won't sell out.
29AnonymousOct 8, 2026 09:44
What's the actual point of round-number milestones? It's unsettling that Angerme is the only group with otaku this fixated on it.
30AnonymousOct 8, 2026 09:44
Ōbaitōri (cherry, plum, peach, apricot — each blooms its own way)
Jūran-jisei (steeped in indigo, the dye turns deeper blue than the leaf — the student surpassing the teacher)
Kōsen-rufu (the wide spreading of the teaching)
Isshō-jōbutsu (attaining enlightenment in this very lifetime)
Shukumei-tenkan (transforming one's destiny)

Pick whichever you like best — (these are all set Buddhist/Nichiren phrases, here used as a deadpan joke)

Wasn't there one for Hirayama, I think, where her solo-concert count since joining hit a round number — except because she'd missed some shows due to COVID, her actual total performance count wasn't a round number at all, and they still ran the celebration anyway?
33AnonymousOct 8, 2026 09:49
Re: #31
For a generation with just one member these days, I guess you can simply subtract the shows she missed — but for generations with two or more members you basically can't do a joint 'Nth performance' celebration, since their counts almost never line up.
39AnonymousOct 8, 2026 09:59
Why do Ise's fans' projects always come out of left field?
43AnonymousOct 8, 2026 10:04
Is this treated as mandatory, or are people being pressured into it?
44AnonymousOct 8, 2026 10:05
300 shows? Honestly, could not care less.
46AnonymousOct 8, 2026 10:06
I assume they're providing the chest-pinnable paper strips themselves and collecting them afterward, right?
51AnonymousOct 8, 2026 10:16
Re: #46
No — people just drop them on the floor of the audience area. Staff and whichever members aren't Ise will probably end up picking them all up afterward.
47AnonymousOct 8, 2026 10:09
Keep it within your own circle.
52AnonymousOct 8, 2026 10:16
Re: #47
Exactly this. Stop dragging everyone else into it every single time.

Re: #48
It's already getting in the way. If that were genuinely the intent, they wouldn't be running an event like this.
48AnonymousOct 8, 2026 10:11
The paper's there precisely so it doesn't interrupt her homecoming show.
50AnonymousOct 8, 2026 10:14
I-S-E. Just three letters is something she could actually make out no matter how far away she is on stage — I can't picture it being anything else.
53AnonymousOct 8, 2026 10:27
First time I've run into something like this. Wonder if I'll get weird looks from people nearby if I don't join in.
55AnonymousOct 8, 2026 10:30
Wait, so what's actually happening? The call is 'Welcome home, Yuppyon,' while everyone's got a paper on their chest reading 'Congrats on 300, Ise'?
65AnonymousOct 8, 2026 10:33
Re: #55
Yeah, that's probably the gist of it.
64AnonymousOct 8, 2026 10:33
If you're going to do it, go all the way — get everyone matching hair pieces too and actually collect it all at the end. Don't launch this off some throwaway tweet.
66AnonymousOct 8, 2026 10:35
Re: #64
'Get your own hair ready'… yeah, sorry, nobody's doing that one. (a pun: 紙/kami = 'paper' and 髪/kami = 'hair' are homophones in Japanese, the joke being a play on words)
68AnonymousOct 8, 2026 10:35
Re: #65
The celebration's getting cluttered. Shouldn't it just be about Yuppyon alone — isn't this her first time back home?
70AnonymousOct 8, 2026 10:37
Re: #68
Technically she already had a hometown show at a live house last fall. This would just be her first time doing it at a proper concert hall. If she'd gone through Kawamu's first hall homecoming, I'd think she'd be holding back on something like this.
69AnonymousOct 8, 2026 10:37
Ah, so this is what it looks like

81AnonymousOct 8, 2026 10:51
The pre-show call should just be 'Reira! 300 times!' (likely a joking jab mixing up Ise's name with another member's, Reira)
82AnonymousOct 8, 2026 10:53
Re: #81
What happens to Yuppyon then?

Background and Key Points of the Discussion

Within the Hello! Project fan scene, there’s a recurring tradition of volunteer fans organizing celebratory gestures whenever a member’s performance count since joining hits a round-number milestone — 100, 200, 300, and so on. The “handing out paper sunflowers” and “bar-event giveaways” mentioned in the thread are cited as past cases where confusion broke out at the venue (「現場」, fan slang for the live show itself) because distribution permission was reportedly never granted. This time, posters raised similar doubts — both about the call coming from outside her dedicated fan community, and about the planned method of leaving the paper strips scattered in the audience for staff to collect afterward — making the central question how far a well-intentioned fan project should go in pulling other audience members along with it, a friction point specific to live-show etiquette. It’s worth noting that the exact collection method and who organized this remain speculation within the thread (「スレ」, the 5ch discussion thread), not officially confirmed information.
