Juice=Juice’s Average Height Is “162.1cm” — 5ch: “They’re Just Padding the Numbers”

From our other sites

The story

A thread appeared on 5ch’s Hello! Project board claiming Juice=Juice members average 162.1cm in height. Figures cited included Danbara Ruru at 164.5cm, Inoue Reon at 163cm, and Kudo Yua at 160.2cm — but since none of this is official, skeptics chimed in with “they’re just padding the numbers” and “it’s probably 1–2cm shorter in reality.” The thread also brought up a CanCam interview in which Ishiyama Sakura said the group’s “height and great proportions give them real stage presence,” underscoring how the tall-lineup strategy has become one of the group’s selling points. Discussion spread into comparisons with Korean idols’ heights and speculation about who’ll graduate next.

164.5cm Danbara Ruru
163cm Inoue Reon
160.2cm Kudo Yua

Adjusted for men that's +13cm, so 175cm.
Any guy shorter than that basically doesn't get seen as "a man."

Re: #2
Is 174 not good enough? ( ´•ω•` )
6AnonymousSep 17, 2026 14:51
ANGERME isn't all that different either.
If anything, once Hashisako — who was dragging the average down — graduates, they'll end up about the same.
7AnonymousSep 17, 2026 14:52
On CDTV, standing next to FRUITS ZIPPER, Ishiyama looked ridiculously tall.
Though FRUITS ZIPPER were in sneakers and Ishiyama was in heels, so…
10AnonymousSep 17, 2026 14:56
Is this actually official data?
They just had health checkups recently and I've seen a few members post the results on their blogs.
12AnonymousSep 17, 2026 14:58
Re: #10
"Juice" (5ch slang for the group, lit. "broth") is just padding the numbers, and by a lot.

CanCam Exclusive Interview [Juice=Juice's Ishiyama Sakura & Endo Sakari]
https://cancam.jp/archives/1759787

Q. If fans come to a Juice=Juice live show, what should they watch for — in the group as a whole, in you, and in each other?

Sakura: For the group as a whole, honestly, every part of the performance. It's not just that the singing is good — we've got so many seniors who are insanely good singers, so I just want people to simply enjoy the music. And because everyone's tall with great proportions, there's a real power to it — when all 11 of us line up side by side, the impact is just incredible. I really want people to pay attention to that.

They're succeeding with the tall-member strategy, so short members aren't getting in anymore

Average height of Korean women: 162cm

K-pop idols run a bit taller, averaging around 164cm
K-pop groups known for "great proportions" average around 168cm

If Juice were a K-pop group, they'd be on the smaller side

Average height of Korean high school freshmen: boys 173cm, girls 161.3cm… obesity rates rising, eyesight declining

Re: #13
rescene, Melon's #1 on 6/1, averages 160cm, so that's beside the point.
14AnonymousSep 17, 2026 14:58
If you can't model, being tall doesn't really mean all that much anyway.
63AnonymousSep 17, 2026 15:39
Re: #14
There's basically no upside to being short.
17AnonymousSep 17, 2026 15:00
CUTIE STREET (nicknamed "Kyuusuto") has its own kind of cute, so it's fine.
18AnonymousSep 17, 2026 15:01
Age-wise, Danbara and Inoue are probably next to graduate, so the average height will drop.
If they force in tall replacements, the singing ability will definitely take a hit.

Juice is actually in a tricky spot right now.

Re: #18
These days, core members mostly graduate around 27.
Ikuta went all the way to 28, so there's precedent for staying that long.
Rei and Ruru are still only 25 this year, so they've got three more years in them.
It's not a tricky spot at all.
19AnonymousSep 17, 2026 15:01
Wait, it's not even official?
There's no way Irie's that tall.
20AnonymousSep 17, 2026 15:02
No way Endo is 168.5.
She's smaller than that.
21AnonymousSep 17, 2026 15:03
This kind of thing is Hello! Project fans' wishful-thinking data, so in reality it's probably 1–2cm shorter.
22AnonymousSep 17, 2026 15:03
Even in a thread like this, the antis get all worked up, huh (lol)
24AnonymousSep 17, 2026 15:07
If you recruit based on skill, you inevitably end up with more short members.
If you recruit tall members for their looks, the singing tends to be pretty average.

Girls who are both tall and great singers are super rare, and there's not much reason for that kind of talent to bother joining Hello! Project anyway.
42AnonymousSep 17, 2026 15:17
Re: #24
The first audition since Juice blew up is about to happen.
If anything, that's when the real talent will start coming in.
25AnonymousSep 17, 2026 15:08
Because Juice's members are so tall, there were moments at Hello! Project concerts ("Harocon") where the other groups' members looked like background extras.
27AnonymousSep 17, 2026 15:09
This is Arisawa Ichika.
I had my company health checkup recently, and
my height was 155.1cm!!!!
I grew!!

This is Irie Risa!
I measured my height for the first time in a year!!
It went from 157.0cm to 157.7cm

Re: #27
Sakurachi < that's just margin of error… lol
28AnonymousSep 17, 2026 15:10
For K-pop groups known for great proportions, 168cm is just average.
If Juice were a K-pop group, they'd be a somewhat short one.
33AnonymousSep 17, 2026 15:13
Re: #28
Today's #1 and #2 on Melon are both under 160cm.
29AnonymousSep 17, 2026 15:12
They're not recruiting based on height.
This whole discussion is pointless.
34AnonymousSep 17, 2026 15:13
Average age (as of September 2026)

26.3 =LOVE
25.9 FRUITS ZIPPER
25.1 CANDY TUNE
24.6 Cho Tokimeki Sendenbu
24.6 SWEET STEADY
23.8 ≠ME
23.0 CUTIE STREET
20.5 Juice=Juice

Re: #34
Average age doesn't matter here.
For a group with member turnover, what matters is the age of the oldest members.
Danbara and Inoue are next up to graduate.
35AnonymousSep 17, 2026 15:14
Because of everyone around them, Eba-Mifu end up looking small by comparison.
37AnonymousSep 17, 2026 15:15
A little worried there might be a surprise graduation announcement at the venue on tour day one, like what happened with Hashisako — 9/18, Atsugi.
38AnonymousSep 17, 2026 15:15
But when you consider Nagano is 163cm, it doesn't really seem like that big a deal.
39AnonymousSep 17, 2026 15:15
Re: #32
Kudo, Irie, Kawashima, Ebata, Arisawa — those are the ones worth supporting.
41AnonymousSep 17, 2026 15:17
Still nowhere close to Berryz Koubou though.
43AnonymousSep 17, 2026 15:19
On Music Letters, Rei-Rei apparently said that "Niina cried her eyes out over not being able to appear on Music Station" and that she'd "keep Juice going until Niina turns 18" — does that mean she's planning to stick around another three years? Guess that's the convenient interpretation, anyway.
45AnonymousSep 17, 2026 15:19
4th- and 5th-gen K-pop chased looks and nothing else, and that's exactly why male fans stopped showing up and it became unpopular content.
Juice isn't just about looks — they've got real skill and charm too.
Of course Juice wins.

Re: #48
Guess Ikuta was just the outlier.
53AnonymousSep 17, 2026 15:28
I get that they're recruiting for looks, but it's come at the cost of weaker high notes.
The original members' songs are all high-pitched, so they need someone strong in the high register.
66AnonymousSep 17, 2026 15:43
Re: #53
Hayashi and Kawashima are both strong in the high notes though. Kawashima's even good enough to be given high-note parts.

Background and Key Points of This Discussion

The height figures cited in the thread aren’t from any official announcement — they appear to be a patchwork of numbers pulled together from individual members’ own blog posts and similar sources. Indeed, members like Arisawa Ichika and Irie Risa have posted their health-checkup heights on their personal Ameba blogs, and it’s likely these scattered bits of information were combined to arrive at the “average of 162.1cm” figure. In recent years, Hello! Project’s push to assemble taller lineups has been a recurring talking point, and this thread was no exception, with posters comparing the numbers to Korean idol groups (whose averages run in the mid-160cm range). At the same time, some pointed out that prioritizing height can come at the expense of vocal ability, so this isn’t really something that can be settled by numbers alone. Worth keeping in mind that this is an unofficial, fan-compiled tally rather than anything official.
