Anthony Fauci flat-out admitted it was completely useless. Basically even the claim that it prevented severe illness was a lie.
Everyone knew that if you didn't get everyone vaccinated all at once, it would just keep mutating.
The COVID vaccine ("corowaku") was supposed to do even better than that — we were told getting vaccinated meant you wouldn't get severely ill.
That's just what they claimed at the time. Whether it's actually truuue, you won't knowww until enough time has passed!
If you look at the source image, the people who answered "definitely/probably will get it" are basically all guinea pigs, lol. Over 80% of the unvaccinated said "definitely/probably will not get it."

Viruses naturally weaken over time, so the strategy was supposed to be vaccinating high-risk people as a stopgap until that happened…
I run my own clinic, so I have no choice but to keep giving the shot as cover for my patients (if I don't take precautions, rumors will kill my practice the moment there's an in-hospital outbreak).

In the US, people who went all the way through a PhD program leaned heavily anti-vaccine. Apparently those who stopped at a master's degree were mostly pro-vaccine.
