Rio Sakurai’s Birthday Event Tokyo Show Announced — 5ch Reacts: ‘Probably a Dump of a Venue Like the Ranma One’

The story

On September 15, 2026, details were announced for the fan-club-only birthday event of Morning Musume。’26 member Rio Sakurai. The Tokyo show will be held at NEW PIER HALL in Takeshiba on November 10, with two performances priced at ¥4,700. Details for an Osaka show (YES THEATER, November 16) were released at the same time. Rather than focusing on what the venue actually offers, the thread zeroed in on the seating layout shown in the sample image on the official site, with comments like “You can’t see from either side” and “It’s flat, so it might be hard to see” sparking comparisons to other venues used in the past, like Yamano Hall.

Re: #3
What is this venue…
Like last year, Rairii's (Rio Sakurai's nickname) Morning Musume birthday events always seem to end up at some odd venue

So it's a venue that's half-flat and wide rather than deep…
10AnonymousSep 15, 2026 18:04
The capacity of NEW PIER HALL in Takeshiba is up to 796 seats for live events (with rollback chairs etc. fully deployed).
20AnonymousSep 15, 2026 18:09
Re: #10
I doubt they'll line up chairs all the way to max capacity
You can't see from either side, and even the official sample shows seats cut out

Re: #20
So this light-blue area is the flat section? Not exactly a venue to get excited about
11AnonymousSep 15, 2026 18:04
Annoying that the Osaka show isn't back-to-back with the concert
12AnonymousSep 15, 2026 18:04
Oh right, you can walk there from Hamamatsucho Station
13AnonymousSep 15, 2026 18:05
Like Shintoshi Hall, they probably won't line chairs all the way to the edges, right?
Capacity can be adjusted by how the chairs are arranged
14AnonymousSep 15, 2026 18:05
They used this place before for Kawamura's birthday event, I think
16AnonymousSep 15, 2026 18:07
If there's no nighttime meet-and-greet (nikai), this is basically on par with Okamura Homare's or Gotou's events
Not bad at all
17AnonymousSep 15, 2026 18:07
Is NEW PIER HALL a venue like Yamano Hall?
18AnonymousSep 15, 2026 18:07
Nearest station is Takeshiba Station on the Yurikamome line
You can also walk there from JR/Tokyo Monorail Hamamatsucho Station, or Toei Asakusa/Oedo Line Daimon Station

2026
NEW PIER HALL 【795 seats】

2025
Shibuya Culture Central Owada, Sakura Hall 【735 seats】

So it's a flat venue with a raised section only at the back, like the good old Yamano Hall?
23AnonymousSep 15, 2026 18:10
Wait, a Tokyo show? Oh, turns out they're doing Osaka too
25AnonymousSep 15, 2026 18:11
Didn't they use this venue for an ANGERME single-release event before?
26AnonymousSep 15, 2026 18:12
Won't know for sure until the day of, but if seat numbers go up to 40 across, does that mean it'll match the official seating chart?
29AnonymousSep 15, 2026 18:13
If they're doing Osaka, make it the day after the concert already
30AnonymousSep 15, 2026 18:14
31AnonymousSep 15, 2026 18:14
If you're scared of losing the lottery and try to get in on points instead, could you end up stuck in the back row of the flat section?
32AnonymousSep 15, 2026 18:14
Come to think of it, this year they've also used this place for "Ocha no Chocolate" (an event/segment name) — wonder if footage of that's floating around somewhere
40AnonymousSep 15, 2026 18:18
This venue's just as crappy as the Ranma one
53AnonymousSep 15, 2026 18:27
Re: #40
Definitely worse than Ranma
It's 4 rows deep, and if someone about your height is sitting in front of you, you can't see the members at all
42AnonymousSep 15, 2026 18:19
@
> *This performance is not eligible for resale.

Having a disclaimer like this makes me think they're planning to make the resale system a permanent fixture going forward?
Mainly for concerts, maybe?

Re: #42
So far MOALA's only been used for big venues, but I wonder if they'll start using it for regular shows too
Sounds like FC events are just going to stay like this though
52AnonymousSep 15, 2026 18:27
Re: #42
Never noticed this until now, but
that disclaimer's been added since the BEYOOOOONDS Okamura birthday event announced on 9/9
43AnonymousSep 15, 2026 18:20
The stage is way too low lol
People in the back won't be able to see a thing
45AnonymousSep 15, 2026 18:22
Guess they'll do "Sakurai no Shirabe" (a solo song, likely a pun on her name) seated then
46AnonymousSep 15, 2026 18:23
Osaka's got YES Theater, reliably tiered seating
47AnonymousSep 15, 2026 18:23
They should just use MOALA, same as the big venues, for FC events too
51AnonymousSep 15, 2026 18:26
The corner where they play song intros/clips for you to guess will probably be a seated segment
54AnonymousSep 15, 2026 18:28
If it's mostly talk segments with only about 4 live songs, maybe being buried in the crowd is still bearable?
66AnonymousSep 15, 2026 18:44
They really dug up a place just like Yamano Hall lol
67AnonymousSep 15, 2026 18:45
Re: #66
Last year both shows had a second (meet-and-greet)
74AnonymousSep 15, 2026 18:49
Re: #66
Pretty sure they used it for Kawamura's birthday event
76AnonymousSep 15, 2026 18:49
Re: #66
UP-FRONT has used it a few times
At the 2019 Fukutake event it was 4 rows deep, and if the person in front was about your height and stood up, you couldn't see anything

Background and Talking Points

The “birthday event” discussed here is a small-scale, fan-club-members-only show, held separately from concerts as a recurring event built around an individual member. The “not eligible for resale” note that caught the thread’s attention reportedly started appearing with the September 9 announcement, according to one reply — suggesting the resale system may be becoming permanent, though no official explanation has been given yet. As for the seating layout, most of the discussion is speculation based on the sample image posted on the official site; the actual arrangement won’t be confirmed until the day of the event. Opinions on the venue split largely between fans used to flat-floor venues and those used to tiered seating, since their standards for “how well you can see” differ — making it a debate that doesn’t reduce to a simple good-or-bad verdict.
