The story
“Final Fantasy Resonance” is a new title that Square Enix has commissioned outside studio Lancarse to develop, featuring a system called “Visions” that builds on the series’ classic Job system. On 5ch’s Nanademo Jikkyou G board, fans responded warmly to the revealed Malboro footage and graphics, though reports that the price would be around ¥7,000 also drew comments like “that’s steep for full price.” Some voiced regret that Hironobu Sakaguchi and Nobuo Uematsu aren’t involved, while others speculated about where the series goes after the FF7 Remake trilogy wraps up.
What people said
Scary thing is, there are current-FF antis out there who genuinely believe this.
Balance, probably.
She's a rare female mage character.

If the guy before Cloud dies, does Cloud die too?
Hirono left Square Enix and went independent.
He's 'President Hirono' now.
Re: #45 says it's ¥7,678 😨
I'd guess ¥1,500–1,980 is the going rate.
¥2,980 would already feel pricey.

Is it like Emblem Engage (Fire Emblem Engage)?
Visions.
Yeah, basically just like Stands (the JoJo's Bizarre Adventure kind).
They're called Visions — phantom-like manifestations of people from another world.
Officially described as an evolved form of the Job system.
Each one levels up individually, learns abilities, and can be freely swapped in and out.
What do you mean by that?
is it nothing but creepy photorealism, cheap-looking anime style, or dated pixel art?
Personally I hate that mid-tier crappy low-poly look the most.

It's so good that this masterpiece plays for every single battle in that game.
If they want to pander to nostalgia fans, they should at least add an on/off toggle for that stuff.
Except Sakaguchi hasn't produced anything worthwhile since leaving Square, which made it pretty clear most of the credit belonged to his team.
I think 'the Beard's' (Sakaguchi's nickname) real talent was pulling together a bunch of quirky, capable people into one team.
Once he left, they just fell apart.
He's actually put out some pretty fun games, though.
They just haven't sold.
Also, isn't he back with Square Enix now?
Even if FF17 comes out ten years from now, nobody's gonna care.
They've still got enough steam to keep the series going, though.
They'll just have to keep relying on whoever made the Romancing SaGa 2 remake or that plush-toy-style Dragon Quest remake.
Something like ¥7,000.
Still better than Another Eden (mobile RPG).
Sounds like it's got a decent amount of content, at least.
they've got more love for Square Enix than the actual employees do.

The DQ4/5/6 remakes will probably be up in the air between HD-2D and this style.
that once a company gets big, the people who join later tend to think mostly about money and themselves, with nobody left willing to take risks.
Once a company grows large, it tends to change for the worse compared to what it used to be.
Big-company disease is basically a fate that follows every industry.
Should be interesting to see what happens once the AI industrial revolution hits.
The 'AI industrial revolution' basically just means laying people off.
There are a ton of incompetent execs out there, so once middle management gets wiped out, a lot of things are probably gonna go downhill fast.
It'll probably become less rare for a group of otherwise powerless individuals to outdo some big corporate production.
In that sense, I've got some hope for this new era.
Background and Talking Points
“Final Fantasy Resonance” is a new title that develops the FF series’ classic Job system into a system called “Visions” — individually trainable phantom characters — with development handled by outside studio Lancarse, known for titles like Makibuou. In the thread, fans welcomed the graphics and how faithfully the monsters were rendered, while pricing information (around ¥7,000) drew mixed reactions — some called it steep for a full-price release, others argued that if this leans more toward a mobile-style project, ¥1,500–2,000 would be the more typical price point. Discussion also touched on the fact that series veterans Hironobu Sakaguchi and Nobuo Uematsu aren’t involved in this title, as well as speculation about what the franchise’s future looks like once the FF7 Remake trilogy concludes — turning the thread into more than just a simple new-game announcement. Note that the pricing and development details mentioned come from hearsay within the thread and are not confirmed by any official announcement.
