Intel’s Stock Price Plunges — 5ch: “Can’t Help It, Earnings Were Trash”

From our other sites

The story

Intel’s stock price plunged, sparking discussion in a 5ch thread. The company’s shares, which had been trading around $20 just a while back, had surged significantly — but the decline set in after earnings guidance revealed a worsening outlook. Opinions in the thread were split between those who saw it as “a correction for gains that were artificially inflated by the Trump administration’s influence” and those who argued “the earnings themselves simply got worse,” with the discussion also branching into AMD’s rise and whether CPUs have become less important in the AI era.

Is that… okay?

It was only about $20 not long ago — it had climbed this high since then.

If they don't start making and selling memory and decent GPUs, even their CPUs won't sell.
16AnonymousOct 30, 2026 21:29
They need to sell memory and GPUs cheap, or it's no good.

It's not being sold off because things are bad right now.
Everyone's dumping it because the company's own forecast says the bad numbers are going to keep coming.

Background and Key Points of This Discussion

In 2025, Intel’s stock had climbed sharply from around $20 a share, driven by speculation about a U.S. government stake in the company and a concentration of capital flowing into AI-related names. The thread’s comment that it “only went up because Trump forced it up” refers to this backdrop. This latest plunge was triggered directly by the earnings report revealing a worsening outlook, and in the thread, comments like “can’t help it, the earnings were trash” and “the company’s own forecast points to more bad numbers ahead” stood out as voices treating the underlying business performance itself as the real problem. At the same time, some see the cause as general market overheating combined with a fresh inflow of money into AI-related stocks, so there’s no single agreed-upon explanation. The shifting position of Intel within the semiconductor industry — including AMD’s rise and the struggles of Intel’s graphics business — was also a hot topic. Looking at the stock drop alone might suggest a management crisis, but it also partly reflects a pullback after a short-term surge — a nuance that’s easy for readers to miss when looking only at the chart.
