Don't know much about this stuff, but it's wild how jacked his back is while his abs are still totally flat.

Re: #5
Abs don't really score much, so even pros barely bother training them.
6AnonymousSep 20, 2026 19:07
Shoulder width is basically genetics, which is kind of brutal.

Re: #6
Swimmers all seem to have broad shoulders like the guy on the right.

Re: #6
Chocolate Planet's Osada's got the genetics for it.

Re: #6
There are always guys who get so muscle-obsessed they end up looking like Jamila (the shriveled-up Ultraman monster). Do they not look in a mirror and realize how bad it looks?
8AnonymousSep 20, 2026 19:08
Same with Noda and Shogo — comedians who get this into lifting must have way too much free time.

Re: #8
Someone once said comedians live in a world where being funny alone doesn't guarantee success, so they get hooked on lifting because it's one of the few things where effort translates directly into visible results.

There are those Kongo Rikishi (Niō guardian) statues — were guys really that jacked back in the day? Seems like you'd need a live model to sculpt something like that.

Re: #11
Looking at photos of Edo-period commoners, there seem to have been plenty of guys built like that. Though I doubt anyone was as gorilla-jacked as those statues.

Re: #11
The Niō guardian statue at Ikegami Honmonji Temple was actually modeled on Antonio Inoki.

First muscle-bound comedian in Yoshimoto history?
37AnonymousSep 20, 2026 19:38
Re: #13
He's already left Yoshimoto, but there was that guy too — 💪( ᐛ )パワアアアアアアアアアアアアアアアアアアアアアアア (a nod to 'Power,' the muscle-meme YouTuber famous for screaming 'POWAAA').

Nadal's voice really carries, so he's great to have around for moments like this.
20AnonymousSep 20, 2026 19:22
If Nadal ever bulked up, he'd end up looking like Short Sleeper (a Japanese pro wrestler known for his physique).

Re: #27
Lost a bit of his comedic charm though.

Re: #27
Muscle you can build anytime, even later in life — lifting heavy during your growth years isn't actually a great idea.
85AnonymousSep 20, 2026 20:42
Re: #27
Good effort. Well, his partner's the one carrying the comedy side of the act anyway, so it's fine.
29AnonymousSep 20, 2026 19:25
I honestly can't even tell if this is impressive for three years of work or not.
31AnonymousSep 20, 2026 19:28
Considering how strict he's apparently been with training and diet, this is about all he's got to show for it.

Doesn't seem like he has a ton of natural talent for it.
33AnonymousSep 20, 2026 19:35
Stuff like this really makes you appreciate what a solid guy Nadal is.
34AnonymousSep 20, 2026 19:37
But he'd still lose to Laland's Nishida in raw power, right?
36AnonymousSep 20, 2026 19:38
What does any of this have to do with being a comedian?
38AnonymousSep 20, 2026 19:38
He competed in a previous contest too, right? So this wasn't actually his debut.
39AnonymousSep 20, 2026 19:41
Re: #38
The previous contest was 'physique,' which basically just judges the upper body. This one's bodybuilding, which judges the whole body.
41AnonymousSep 20, 2026 19:42
Wasn't it actually Nishino who comes up with Nadal's character, jokes, and material? He's basically the brains of Korochiki, even though Nadal's the one who gets all the attention.
43AnonymousSep 20, 2026 19:46
Re: #40
He's short too, so honestly his build is well-suited for bodybuilding.
44AnonymousSep 20, 2026 19:49
This guy's actually pretty funny, but he never really broke out, so now he's going the muscle-comedian route…
52AnonymousSep 20, 2026 19:56
Compared to Kasuga, this guy's doing things properly. I guess Kasuga's thing only flew because of the era.

He's already got striations showing on his chest, and the back is an impressive result for just three years. The abs feel pretty out of balance though — way too underdeveloped. Among comedians who've done this, Tokyo Hotei Son's Shogo had the most shockingly cut physique.
75AnonymousSep 20, 2026 20:30
Re: #52
What exactly was wrong with Kasuga's physique?
73AnonymousSep 20, 2026 20:25
Starting in your 30s, is it actually possible to get this far in just three years?
94AnonymousSep 20, 2026 20:56
Re: #73
I've been lifting for three years too, and I'm still totally squishy lol

Background and Key Points of This Story

The event Nishino entered this time was “bodybuilding,” which judges overall body balance and muscle mass. As pointed out in the thread, his previous competition was “physique,” centered on the upper body — so even within the same competition history, the judging criteria differ. The fact that there’s a height-based class (170cm and under) is also something readers unfamiliar with combat sports or physique competitions might easily miss. Opinions in the thread were split on whether this was a strong enough result for three years of effort, with some praising the finish on his back, and others pointing out the underdeveloped abs and shoulder width — differences partly rooted in natural build. It’s also a typical reaction pattern for this kind of story that comedians who’ve bulked up in the past (like Kasuga, and Tokyo Hotei Son’s Shogo) get brought up for comparison once a bodybuilding story breaks.
