The story
On 5ch’s “Nandemo Jikkyo G” board (a general live-commentary forum), Daisuke Hori’s ongoing endurance livestream — run under a “naps allowed, 30 minutes” rule — has become a hot topic. As he keeps the stream running while inserting 40-minute blacked-out, muted segments each time, viewers have voiced concern over his exhaustion and raised questions about what actually counts as a “nap.” Thread posters also wondered whether his paying students even exist, noted that standing the whole time seems to have hurt his back, and pointed out that he barely seems to be doing any strength training — with opinions split over what’s really going on in the stream.
What people said
He seems like the proud type who's putting on a brave face about getting mocked nonstop, but it looks like it's really getting to him mentally.
He did a 40-minute blackout/mute session once.
Doesn't that basically amount to admitting the 30-minute thing was impossible? Is that okay for his personal brand?
And also, nobody even asked for that.
And even after waking up, his body probably won't be back to normal.
Then at the next day's stream, he'll probably suddenly show up looking totally refreshed.
30-minute sleep. Microsleep. "Nature sleep." Power nap.
He's "preparing" (typing away at the keyboard).
With how much buzz this is getting I figured he'd have like 1,000 students, but apparently it's under 50. He probably figures once he's made a decent chunk of money, it's fine if he just disappears.
According to him, he's been standing the whole time, so his back apparently hurts.
Why doesn't he just sit down? Naps are allowed now, so he might as well lie down too.
Sitting isn't even banned, so why is he standing the whole time?
He's about to pass out at this rate.
That's not technically sleep, so it's fine.
Even if it's all a bit, whoever's sending Super Chats to this stream has to be out of their mind.
Honestly, that's a fair point.
The times you sleep outside your normal sleep hours are usually when you're sleep-deprived, though.
8 hours plus 25 minutes is basically a rounding error, but 30 minutes plus 25 minutes is almost double.
A Super Chat reading something like "Super Enraged Sleeping Saiyan Daisuke Hori" (a Dragon Ball parody) is way too provocative, lol
What people wanted to see was him cramming in tons of lectures, going out, showing up at events — an insane amount of activity on top of just 30-minute sleep. A whole day full of massage-spa excuses to sleep doesn't mean anything.
Nobody was expecting that. No one actually believes he's really sleeping just 30 minutes.
All we ever see is him sitting near the machines.
Maybe the people who bought his course materials actually believed it 🤔
Buying an info-product course from a guy who takes six baths is the dumb part.
I've pulled three all-nighters in a row before, and three is the absolute limit. Your vision actually starts to go.
Background and Key Points of This Story
What Daisuke Hori appears to be running is an endurance livestream designed to promote a paid course for his students — this kind of “naps-allowed endurance stream” is one of several monetization formats that have become more common among livestreamers in recent years. The thread split mainly over how to define a “nap”: whether the 40-minute blacked-out, muted segments count as “sleep.” Supporters argued it still amounts to meaningful rest, while skeptics saw it as effectively breaking the 30-minute rule. As for the number of students, the figure Hori himself has announced has taken on a life of its own online, and thread guesses like “58 people” or “around 40 people” remain pure speculation. Much of what’s shown about the streamer’s physical condition and expressions is based on his own self-reporting, so viewer reactions shouldn’t be taken at face value as fact.
