The story

An overseas outlet reports that Brazil’s game ratings board has listed “Romancing SaGa 3: Destinies United” for Nintendo Switch 2 and Nintendo Switch. There’s been no official announcement yet, but the thread was split over whether it’s from the same development team as the previous title, “Romancing SaGa 2: Revenge of the Seven,” calls for a character design overhaul, and the original “SaGa 3″‘s reputation for a weaker story.

“Romancing SaGa 3: Destinies United” has been rated for Nintendo Switch 2 and Nintendo Switch in Brazil.

Guess it's one of the Nintendo Direct announcements
Can't wait
Knew they were making the remake after all

Re: #3
Nintendo Direct?
The State of Play Japanese-games showcase would come first, wouldn't it
Idiot
5AnonymousSep 1, 2026 00:33
Same developer as the Romancing SaGa 2 remake?
8AnonymousSep 1, 2026 00:34
Ellen's probably about the only one with any real vision left (regional -べ ending, casual guess)
9AnonymousSep 1, 2026 00:35
If it's true, they've gotta be using the same team, surely
10AnonymousSep 1, 2026 00:35
I just want to play Mass Combat

Re: #10,26
I think if you play Mass Combat and Trade now, they're just boring minigames carried by good BGM
13AnonymousSep 1, 2026 00:36
Switching developers at this point is such a Square Enix move
But if they don't switch this time, maybe there's hope for Square Enix going forward
14AnonymousSep 1, 2026 00:37
Feels like it just came out on Switch 2 last year, but…
Oh wait, it released on Switch on October 24, 2024
Two years might actually be fast for them
15AnonymousSep 1, 2026 00:37
It's been a while since 2 came out, and all we've seen credited so far is "development cooperation" rather than lead development, so they've probably been working on something
Hope it's 3

2 was Revenge of the Seven, so
the Japanese title is just plainly Destinies United too
17AnonymousSep 1, 2026 00:40
If this comes out, are they finally making Romancing SaGa 4 next?
18AnonymousSep 1, 2026 00:40
3 is the real main event, so if this turns out garbage quality it's over lol
20AnonymousSep 1, 2026 00:41
Re: #18
If it's the same studio as 2, it'll be fine
23AnonymousSep 1, 2026 00:42
The Remake 2 character designs were just awful, so yeah, everyone wants the designs changed
35AnonymousSep 1, 2026 00:47
Re: #23
Exactly this
Please, no more of that cheap generic anime art
27AnonymousSep 1, 2026 00:43
I've got a huge backlog so I still haven't played Romancing SaGa 2 on Switch 2, but if 3 gets announced I'd better get moving
48AnonymousSep 1, 2026 01:00
Why's this guy losing it?
49AnonymousSep 1, 2026 01:02
Re: #48
I mean, because the game's getting announced at a Nintendo Direct?
Meanwhile PlayStation is closing its show out with an existing title (FF7 Rebirth) lol
53AnonymousSep 1, 2026 01:06
SaGa games have always been either pixel art or weird anime art anyway
You're not seriously asking for Kobayashi-style art, are you (Tomomi Kobayashi, the illustrator behind classic SaGa artwork)
57AnonymousSep 1, 2026 01:09
Re: #53
SaGa Scarlet Grace tried recreating Kobayashi's art style and it didn't land at all, so anime art or pixel art is fine by me
It got popular on pixel art in the first place
56AnonymousSep 1, 2026 01:08
There's no way they're remaking 2 and 3 without eventually making 4, right?
58AnonymousSep 1, 2026 01:11
Re: #56
Making it without Kawazu around?
69AnonymousSep 1, 2026 01:29
Unlike 2, the original was just a bad game though
72AnonymousSep 1, 2026 01:31
Re: #69
If they can flesh out the story, it'll be a masterpiece
77AnonymousSep 1, 2026 01:42
And that over-the-top otaku-style staging with anime voice-actor performances
Seeing that would shatter the Romancing SaGa I hold dear
79AnonymousSep 1, 2026 01:45
Re: #77
My friend
I agree with every single word lol
82AnonymousSep 1, 2026 01:47
Re: #77
That's what sells to the general public, so just don't buy it yourself then
81AnonymousSep 1, 2026 01:47
If they give it a proper 3D remake like they did with Revenge of the Seven, I'll buy it
Revenge of the Seven fleshed out the Seven Heroes' story, so if they do the same for 3 it could turn out really good
102AnonymousSep 1, 2026 02:41
Re: #81
That added story creeped me out, so I can't recommend Revenge of the Seven to people
I wish they wouldn't force that kind of thing into the main story
85AnonymousSep 1, 2026 01:48
The '2' fanboys are just loud, that's all
They were even trashing '3' — pathetic bunch
90AnonymousSep 1, 2026 01:55
Re: #85
For Xenoblade, 2 is the best one
93AnonymousSep 1, 2026 02:03
Romancing SaGa 3 is a bad game, so won't this sell even worse
101AnonymousSep 1, 2026 02:39
Re: #95
This is about the remake, right
Pixel art yet running on UE5, was it
Not a shred of taste
The knockoff choices from an amateur work like ReUni just hadn't been called out yet, and they're mistaking that silence for approval
Re: #93
There it is, there it is
This is exactly the kind of '2' fanboy I mean lol
112AnonymousSep 1, 2026 03:15

Only 670 yen huh
Just how badly is this not selling
115AnonymousSep 1, 2026 03:18
Re: #112
Isn't that just because it's on PlayStation…

Background and Key Points of the Discussion

This rating listing is another example of a pattern seen often in recent years: a new title surfacing through an overseas ratings board before any official announcement. “Romancing SaGa 2: Revenge of the Seven” released in 2024, and as of this thread it hadn’t been officially confirmed whether this “3” remake comes from the same development team. Opinions in the thread split mainly three ways: (1) optimism that it’ll be good if it’s the same team behind “2,” (2) concern since the original “3” is generally regarded as weaker than “2,” and (3) hope that it won’t carry over the anime-style character designs common in recent remakes. Worth noting: a rating listing only confirms the game cleared a review process — the release date and any official announcement for Japan remain unconfirmed at this point.
