  • Ayami Nakajo Denies Marriage Rumors With Kōji Imada — Fans Ask, ‘Wait, Isn’t She Already Married?’

Actress Ayami Nakajo, appearing on MBS’s “Tsūkai! Akashiya Dentai” (lit. “Delightful! Akashiya TV Station”) on September 12, was asked about marriage rumors with comedian Kōji Imada and flatly shut them down, saying “I won’t.” Nakajo has co-starred with Imada since her teens as MC and assistant on Nippon TV’s “Another Sky,” and has called him a “benefactor of my career in showbiz.” After the segment aired, 5ch threads lit up — with posters pointing out that Nakajo is presumably already married to a non-celebrity, speculation about Imada’s taste in women, and plenty of people questioning why the question was even asked in the first place.

    Re: #67
Probably just a staged bit to hook viewers who don't know about Nakajo — otherwise the whole thing just ends with "I'm already married."

Background and Key Points of This Story

The original article frames Nakajo as a single woman at an age when marriage is on her mind, but on 5ch, multiple posters independently raised the point that “Nakajo is surely already married” or “didn’t she marry a regular guy?” Some replies even circulated claims that Nakajo married an IT company executive years ago, leading to questions about whether the framing of the on-air question itself was just a bit staged for viewers who aren’t in the loop. The other major thread of discussion was curiosity directed at Imada himself — many commenters read a preference for “young hafu (mixed-race) women” from the lineup of assistants he’s cast on Another Sky over the years, pointing to past assistants who ended up marrying well-known athletes. That said, all of this remains speculation from an anonymous message board — there’s no official confirmation of Imada’s own views on marriage or whether he’s currently in a relationship.

  • Military Knife vs. Kendo Master — 5ch Weighs In: “Anyone Sane Would Just Run”

A thread titled “Military special forces operator: ‘Even a kendo master can be beaten with a military knife’” appeared on 5ch’s Hello! Project board, sparking a debate over how much a weapon gap should decide a real fight. Some kendo practitioners argued their skills wouldn’t hold up once you step outside the rules of the dojo, while others pointed out that real special forces soldiers mainly use knives as tools — for opening gear, for instance — rather than for hand-to-hand combat. The discussion pulled in everything from the old Imperial Japanese Army’s bayonet fighting and the Gurkhas’ kukri knives to the knife maker Tamura Equipment Development, eventually spiraling into a broader argument about how “real” martial arts actually are in practice.

I actually learned judo from a former member of the old Nakano School (a WWII-era intelligence academy), and it was brutally practical — pinching the skin through the sleeve cuff, elbowing the nose mid-throw, stomping on the guy after he's down.
    59AnonymousSep 13, 2026 07:13
    Re: #57
How old even are you, lol

Background and Key Points of the Debate

As kendo evolved into a competitive sport, lethal techniques like body checks and grappling were phased out of its rules — while prewar kendo and the old Imperial Japanese Army’s bayonet fighting were historically taught with real combat in mind. The thread’s comment that “prewar judo and kendo had no rules” reflects that shift. There’s also a well-known idea from U.S. police training called the “21-foot rule,” which holds that when an attacker with a blade is at close range, there often isn’t time to react even with a weapon or reach advantage — a reality the thread’s point that “advantage shifts depending on location and distance” echoes. The observation that knives carried by special forces operators are used mainly as multipurpose tools — for opening gear, say — rather than for close-quarters fighting is also a common take in military commentary. In that light, the thread’s detour reads as just the latest round of a long-running argument over how “real” martial arts actually are in practice.

  • “KEEEEEI!” — Satsuma’s Ancient Sword School Yakumaru Jigen-ryu Holds Ceremony for Its 15th Grand Master

At Sengan-en in Kagoshima City, a ceremony was held to install the 15th head of Yakumaru Jigen-ryu, an old school of swordsmanship handed down from the Satsuma domain, with practitioners ranging in age from 5 to 77 demonstrating its one-strike-kill technique to the distinctive battle cry of “KEEEEEI!” The school is said to date back roughly 1,000 years, and legend has it that both Kirino Toshiaki (Nakamura Hanjiro) and Togo Heihachiro trained in it during the late Edo period. On 5ch, threads debated its lineage relationship to the similarly Satsuma-born Jigen-ryu, the origin of the battle cry, and how effective it would actually be in real combat.

A ceremony was held at Sengan-en to install the 15th head of Yakumaru Jigen-ryu, a school of swordsmanship handed down from the Satsuma domain. Participants ranging in age from 5 to 77 took part, demonstrating the old sword art.

    “KEEEEEEEI!”

Yakumaru Jigen-ryu is said to date back roughly 1,000 years. It’s a “one-strike-kill” style that stakes everything on the very first swing, and it was passed down among the lower-ranking samurai of the Satsuma domain.

It was already in decline to begin with.
It's remembered as a wealthy domain, but after conquering the Ryukyu Kingdom, Satsuma actually used Ryukyu as a base to mint counterfeit koban (gold coins).
Once the counterfeiting was discovered, the paper currency of every domain in Kyushu instantly lost credibility.
When the domains investigated just how much fake money was circulating, it turned out everyone had copied Satsuma and was minting counterfeits too.
"Wait, we were doing it too?!"
A Fukuoka domain retainer was so ashamed at having failed to notice this that it escalated all the way to him committing seppuku.

I believe the story behind this scene is that Harrison Ford, who played Indiana Jones, was sick and in terrible shape at the time, so they staged it to end in one quick shot instead, lol

Background and Key Points of This Topic

Yakumaru Jigen-ryu is considered an offshoot of Jigen-ryu, the mainstream school of swordsmanship in the Satsuma domain, and it spread mainly among lower-ranking samurai. Like Jigen-ryu, it puts heavy emphasis on “settling things with a single strike,” a training system built around massed charges into battle rather than dojo-style dueling, which is why its purpose differs from typical swordsmanship. Nakamura Hanjiro (later Kirino Toshiaki), known as an assassin in the late Edo period, and Togo Heihachiro, who led the Combined Fleet in the Russo-Japanese War, are both said to have trained under this school. On the thread, users traded knowledge about how to render the battle cry (“chesuto” vs. “kei”) and the lineage relationship with Jigen-ryu. Meanwhile, posts linking TV personality Yakumaru Hirohide to the family line were later corrected as having been a “joke,” so this has not been confirmed as fact. The fact that the succession ceremony brought together such a wide range of ages, from 5 to 77, illustrates how traditional culture continues to be passed down in the regions.

  • “Two-Story Loans” Take Off Among Young Buyers, Sparking Debate Over Tower Condo Purchases

A “two-story loan” that splits a mortgage into two parts to lower monthly payments is drawing attention among young people buying high-end tower condos in central Tokyo. According to a Nikkei article, the “first-floor” portion leaves the principal untouched until the final due date, when it’s repaid in one lump sum — a product designed to meet the need to “not be tied down by life.” On 5ch, commenters repeatedly pointed out that this structure resembles U.S. subprime loans or residual-value auto financing (zan-kure), with opinions split over whether borrowers could really pay it all off at once at maturity, and what would happen if property prices fell.

Young people considering buying tower condos and other high-priced properties are showing interest in a new type of “two-story” home loan. The borrowed amount is split into a first-floor portion and a second-floor portion; the first-floor principal is left untouched until the due date, then repaid in a lump sum at the end. It’s a product designed to keep monthly payments as low as possible — but are there hidden pitfalls?

This is seriously just the subprime structure all over again, isn't it.
Lend money to people with no way to pay it back, then offload the debt onto the market and pocket the profit.
Housing is the one product that people with no ability to repay will still borrow huge sums to get their hands on.
    13AnonymousSep 12, 2026 19:42
That's basically the condo version of buying an Alphard on residual-value financing.
Something you should never, ever do.
    21AnonymousSep 12, 2026 20:38
    Re: #13
    Yeah, pretty much.
So on the final payment date of a 35-year loan, you pay off half the principal in one lump sum?

Normally you'd just sell the place to settle it.
    18AnonymousSep 12, 2026 20:18
Just buy a tiny ~16.5 sq meter plot and live in a tent or sleep in your car.
    20AnonymousSep 12, 2026 20:33
In other words, the banks came up with a new scheme that guarantees them a profit no matter what.
It's fine if property prices have risen by the residual-value settlement date, but if prices have dropped sharply, the customer is wiped out.
Either way, the bank always wins.

    22AnonymousSep 12, 2026 20:44
So even if the property's value drops all the way down to the remaining first-floor balance by the deadline, the deal still holds up?
    Once the deadline arrives:
Pay off the balance and keep it
    Sell and be done
Sell and do the same thing again

    Exactly like residual-value car financing.
    23AnonymousSep 12, 2026 20:54

Apparently the typical demolition cost for a tower condo runs around 4 billion yen.
And since it's regular people stretching themselves thin to buy in, there's apparently no realistic way to ever raise that demolition fund.

    40AnonymousSep 13, 2026 06:21
You'd also have to pay a hefty amount in property tax on top of that — is this really going to be okay?

Background and Key Points of the Discussion

The “two-story loan” described in the article leaves part of the borrowed amount (the first-floor portion) with the principal untouched until the final due date, at which point it’s settled either through a lump-sum repayment or by selling the property. This keeps monthly payments low, but if the property can’t be sold by the deadline, the full remaining balance stays on the borrower. Commenters repeatedly likened the scheme to U.S. subprime loans and residual-value auto financing (zan-kure), with the central concern being a structure that “lends high-priced products to people with no realistic way to repay.” At the same time, many pointed to the asymmetry in risk between lender and borrower, noting that “the bank never loses” and that “if property prices fall, only the customer is wiped out.” It’s worth noting that the demolition costs and price outlooks mentioned in the thread are speculation from commenters, not backed by verified statistics, and the claim that tower condo price growth is slowing amid rising interest rates also reflects only thread participants’ own observations.

  • ‘Obese Despite Eating Under 1,200 Calories’ Turns Out to Be Underreporting — Actual Intake Twice as High, Columbia University Study Finds

A tracking study by researchers at Columbia University and others has been making waves on 5ch’s News Speed+ board. The researchers followed people for 14 days who insisted they weren’t losing weight despite eating under 1,200 kcal a day — and found their actual calorie intake averaged 47% higher than what they reported, with one person who claimed 1,028 kcal actually consuming 2,081 kcal. The thread mixed astonishment (“if you can get fat eating that little, the human body is way too energy-efficient”) with skepticism (“maybe people are underreporting, whether unconsciously or on purpose”), and the discussion spun off into debates over actual meal plans and whether calorie restriction even works.

Why isn’t the weight coming off? Because patients who said they couldn’t lose weight had, on individual average, underreported their actual food intake by 47%. While claiming 1,028 kcal a day, they were actually eating 2,081 kcal

Background and key points of this discussion

Underreporting in self-reported dietary surveys is a phenomenon long known in the field of nutrition science, with prior research noting that the gap between reported and actual intake tends to widen for heavier individuals. What stands out about this new study from Columbia University and others is that it pinned down that gap concretely through 14 days of tracking. Reactions in the thread were split: some suspected individual differences in metabolism or absorption efficiency, while others argued the self-reports themselves were simply inaccurate. One point worth keeping in mind is that the gap between reported and actual intake isn’t necessarily deliberate deception — cases where people unconsciously overlook the calories in snacks, drinks, and seasonings are said to be common, so this isn’t something that can simply be chalked up to “lying.” Findings like this highlight just how hard it is to rely on self-reported calorie counts alone.

Background and key points of this topic

Sayashi Riho joined Morning Musume。as a 9th-generation member in 2011 and graduated on December 31, 2015. Now a former idol, she works as a singer, actress, and choreographer. According to the official announcement, this anniversary marks one year since her major debut, with the concept EP “OWN” also set for release on September 2. The thread’s reactions split between congratulations over this official news and grumbling over the off-topic word “BABYMETAL” that had slipped into the thread title. Worth noting for readers: most of the jabs in the thread weren’t really aimed at Sayashi herself, but were in-jokes among a handful of regular posters who keep starting these threads over and over — a different context from the main news story.

  • Hashisako Suzu (20) Graduation Announcement Sparks ‘Forced Out?’ Claims, Ignites Debate Over Hello! Project Management

On 5channel’s Hello! Project board, a thread sprang up over the graduation announcement of Hashisako Suzu (20), a member of Hello! Project. The agency’s official statement calls it a “graduation,” but the announcement drew a huge reaction — racking up over 10,000 likes in just 5 hours — and the thread saw a string of comments comparing it to the recent graduations of Takase Kurumi and Akiyama Mao, calling it “essentially getting forced out.” Some posts pointed to the venue’s seat count and ticket sales as evidence of her lack of popularity, and with no clear facts about whether the graduation was her own choice or the agency’s decision, speculation spread. Others noted that members of the 26th generation have been graduating one after another.

Background and Key Points of This Topic

In Hello! Project, member graduations are usually announced gradually, months in advance — so when a departure is announced with barely any lead time, as in this case, it’s easy for it to be read as a “forced-out” situation. Because the agency (Up-Front) doesn’t officially explain the reasons behind individual graduations, there’s no way for outsiders to confirm whether a departure reflects the member’s own wishes or the agency’s decision. The “venue turnout” and “ticket sell-out status” cited in the thread are commonly used by fans as rough gauges of popularity, but no official link between those metrics and the graduation has ever been shown — it remains speculation. Likewise, the claim that “the number of trainees is increasing” can’t be verified with confidence, since the details of the group’s internal structure aren’t public. The loaded word “fired” tends to take on a life of its own, but the official announcement is, after all, a “graduation” — and the possibility that it was a mutually agreed departure can’t be ruled out.

  • New Madoka Movie: Homura Lookalike ‘Wasu’ Has 5ch Buzzing

Late at night on September 12, 2026, to coincide with the release of the movie Puella Magi Madoka Magica the Movie: Walpurgisnacht’s Return, a reaction thread went up on 5channel’s Newsspeed VIP board. What got the thread buzzing wasn’t a debate over the film’s merits, but the presence of a new character who looks strikingly like Homura — posters affectionately nicknamed her “Wasu” and kept flooding the thread with ASCII art (AA) and fan art. The thread title, “The culprit is Wasu,” was a joke born from mistaking her for Homura at first glance, and replies kept rolling in with that late-night live-commentary, festival-like energy all the way toward dawn.

    > An unprecedented catastrophe that occurs on September 13, 2000 within the anime Neon Genesis Evangelion. Kaworu Nagisa is also born on this same day.

    Background and Talking Points

The thread title “The culprit is Wasu” riffs on the once-viral phrase “The culprit is Yasu” (a famous 5ch meme), and appears to be a jokey dig at the new movie’s character who’s the spitting image of Homura. As reply #7 in the thread notes, this was a late-night reaction/live-commentary thread timed to the release of Puella Magi Madoka Magica the Movie: Walpurgisnacht’s Return — less a venue for debating the film’s quality than a festival-like flood of ASCII art and fan art reactions. There’s no notable point of conflict; the endless back-and-forth of in-jokes among posters is very much par for the course on the VIP board. One thing readers should note: names and lines that pop up in the thread, like “Wasu” and “Marguerite,” come straight from the just-released film, so they may read as spoilers to anyone who hasn’t seen it yet.

*This article is excerpted and summarized from the 5ch (Newsspeed VIP) thread “Puella Magi Madoka Magica’s culprit Wasu is adorable!!“

  • G-Osaka supporters stage sit-in protest — 5ch calls exec’s ‘We’ll win a title’ promise ‘cheap’

In the J1 match on September 12, 2026, Gamba Osaka lost 0-2 to FC Tokyo at home. After the match, some supporters stayed behind at the stadium to protest, and Football Division Director Mikami reportedly came out to talk with them, promising, “We will win a title.” On 5ch threads, opinions split over whether a title is realistic with the current squad, with debate centering on the defense and new signings — some dismissed the promise as an empty stopgap given the team’s six-game winless run, while others suggested the protest itself bordered on customer harassment.

The performances are way better than last year, but we just can't grab points. We beat title-favorites Urawa, so if we get on a roll, this squad has what it takes to win a title.
    7AnonymousSep 13, 2026 02:18
"We'll win a title" is just something said in the moment.
Don't talk out of your ass.

How long is the J.League going to keep looking the other way?

Even setting aside whether Myojin is any good, this isn't a squad built to fight for the title — it's a relegation-battle roster.
    15AnonymousSep 13, 2026 02:27
    Re: #14
The defensive midfielder and center-backs are without question the best in the J.League. If the new signings click, this squad can win it all. Manager Myojin's tactics make sense too.
    17AnonymousSep 13, 2026 02:31
Supporters or not, they're just a bunch of amateurs — what's sitting in the stadium actually going to change?
    18AnonymousSep 13, 2026 02:32
Why does Myojin keep consulting Endo all through the match?
If he can't think for himself, he's not cut out to be a manager.
    19AnonymousSep 13, 2026 02:32
They had money to spare for guys like Juanpe — foreign players who need rehab before they can even play —
turns out the front office was just clueless all along.

"We'll win a title" isn't something you just blurt out on the spot.
It comes off cheap, and honestly looks like it's mocking the supporters.

I just want to support the club hardcore.
Not everyone who comes to the stadium needs to be like me.
I just don't want to act like some woman or kid.
If a guy's amazing, I praise him and applaud. But if a guy's useless, I yell and I spit.

That's no different from everyday society, right?
Football is my everyday life. So I just show who I really am.
That's me. If you've got a problem with it, say so. Whether I actually listen is a different matter.
This is my life, after all.

No matter what anyone says, we're not changing how we do things.
I support the club and the players with everything I've got, for their sake.
I will never accept anyone denying the way we do it.

    Because that's our Identity.

What I'm trying to say is, we support like our lives depend on it. Transportation, hotels, all sorts of costs — we put it all in.
So all I want is for the players to give performances like their lives depend on it too.
    It's simple, isn't it?

When love gets too intense it turns into hate
    Well, I get it, but
    it's just not productive

Players give their best because they're trusted (and supported)
There's no universe where players try harder because they got yelled at

Background and Key Points of the Debate

Gamba Osaka’s “sit-in protest” refers to supporters staying in the stands after the match to demand an explanation from the front office — a scene that crops up fairly often in the J.League whenever a club is struggling. Director Mikami oversees team strengthening and operations, and he responded not as the manager but as a management-side figure. The main point of disagreement in the thread was squad evaluation: some praised the defense and new signings and felt a top finish was still within reach if the team caught momentum, while others, pointing to the six-game winless run, dismissed the “we’ll win a title” remark as an empty promise made just to calm the crowd down. Opinion was also split on the protest itself — some saw it as a sign of supporters’ passion, while others viewed it as bordering on customer harassment. It’s also worth noting that no one in the thread specified exactly which competition’s title was meant, so readers should be aware that what “title” refers to here is left unclear.

  • Sashihara Rino & Wakatsuki Chinatsu’s ‘Sashihara Chinatsu’ Canceled Just 5 Months After Premiere

Fuji TV’s late-night variety show “Sashihara Chinatsu” has been canceled, ending in late September — just five months after it premiered this past April. The show had drawn attention even before its debut as the first-ever pairing of popular talents Sashihara Rino and Wakatsuki Chinatsu, so word is that even Fuji TV staff were stunned, saying “surely this isn’t happening.” On 5ch, discussion centered on the show’s low-budget feel and its reliance on Yoshimoto comedians as guests, as well as Wakatsuki Chinatsu’s assertive on-air personality and the story of her comeback after a career gap.

“Surely this isn’t happening” — staff stunned as Fuji TV’s new show gets canceled after “just 5 months,” and the reason is embarrassing

Fuji TV’s late-night talk variety show “Sashihara Chinatsu,” which only started this past April, has been abruptly canceled as of the end of September.

The show had drawn major attention before it even aired, thanks to its pairing of two of variety TV’s top talents, Sashihara Rino (33) and Wakatsuki Chinatsu (42).

So she tried it and said the comeback was easy

Background and Key Points of the Discussion

“Sashihara Chinatsu” was a Fuji TV late-night talk variety show that began this past April, drawing attention before it even aired as the first pairing of popular talents Sashihara Rino and Wakatsuki Chinatsu. The original article describes the reason for the cancellation as “embarrassing” but doesn’t specify what that reason actually was, and no mention of an official cancellation reason appears in the thread either. Opinion was mainly split over how to judge the show’s content — some criticized the production values and budget, while others felt the Sashihara–Wakatsuki pairing itself wasn’t a bad idea. Discussion also touched on Wakatsuki Chinatsu’s assertive on-air personality (which drew both love and hate) and her past career gap, but it’s worth noting these weren’t directly tied to the cancellation — they came up simply as personal opinions about the performers themselves.

※This article was excerpted and summarized from the 5ch (Geisoku Sokuho+) thread “[Fuji TV] Sashihara Rino & Wakatsuki Chinatsu’s new show ‘Sashihara Chinatsu’ abruptly canceled after just 5 months… staff stunned, say “surely this isn’t happening”.”
