  • Sayaka Aoki Reveals the Comedian Who Went Silent During Their Co-Star Bits — 5ch Buzzes: ‘Ariyoshi?’

Comedian Sayaka Aoki (53) appeared on TV Asahi’s official YouTube channel “Douga, Hajimemashita” and revealed that a popular comedian she once co-starred with used to “go silent — no reaction at all” whenever she talked. Looking back on the era when she shot to fame in 2003 with “Where are you looking?!” and rode her sharp-tongued persona to stardom, the segment sparked a 5ch thread that spiraled into talk of her old rifts with Hiroiki Ariyoshi and Ryota Yamasato, plus a “who’s the bigger pariah” exchange involving Yu Shinagawa — with posters split over who the silent co-star actually was.

Sayaka Aoki opens up about a popular comedian she didn’t get along with — “Goes silent. No reaction” to her talk during joint appearances

Comedian Sayaka Aoki (53) appeared on an episode of TV Asahi’s official YouTube channel “Douga, Hajimemashita” uploaded on the 10th, where she revealed a popular comedian she once had a falling-out with.

Aoki appeared on “Yasagure Sakaba,” a segment where comedy duo Nagon’s Hakko drinks and chats with fellow comedians. She looked back on around 2003, when she shot to fame with the catchphrase “Where are you looking?!” and became hugely popular as a sharp-tongued “short-fuse” character.

    Re: #69
'What are you looking at, huh?!'

Background and Key Points of This Story

Sayaka Aoki shot to fame in 2003 with her catchphrase “Where are you looking?!”, building a career on her sharp-tongued persona — but that same sharp tongue has repeatedly put her at odds with co-stars over the years. Her falling-out with Hiroiki Ariyoshi in particular has long been covered by entertainment media, and sure enough, posts naming Ariyoshi stood out in this thread too. At the same time, commenters dug up old rumors that Ariyoshi, Ryota Yamasato, and Yu Shinagawa had each been disliked by their own co-stars at various points, so the thread never actually settled on who really went silent on her — it just spiraled into speculation about the tangled relationships among comedians. There’s a gap between what Aoki herself actually said and the older anecdotes being dredged back up online, and keeping that distinction in mind makes the discussion easier to follow.

  • Kentaro Sakaguchi’s “Secret Marriage” Hit with Two-Timing Allegations — 5ch Users Cry “Sounds Made Up”

On September 6, actor Kentaro Sakaguchi (35) announced on his paid fan club website that he had married a non-celebrity woman. In response, Bunshun Online reported allegations that Sakaguchi’s relationship with actress Mei Nagano had overlapped with the period he was dating his now-wife, splitting opinion on the 5ch Geinō Supo Sokuhō+ board over what’s true and who’s really at fault. While some suspect the story “reeks of fiction,” others argue Nagano shares the blame for the alleged two-timing, and some are dredging up Sakaguchi’s own dating history.

Background and Key Points of This Topic

Bunshun Online’s report came out just one week after Sakaguchi announced his marriage, and the announcement itself — made via a paid fan club site — had already drawn attention. Mei Nagano was previously reported in 2024 to have had an affair with actor Kei Tanaka, and in the thread this new two-timing allegation is at times conflated with that earlier scandal. Per the Bunshun article, the woman identified as his marriage partner is not a celebrity but a “private citizen,” and it should be noted that there is no source for this beyond that article. Some posts also speculate about the relationships by naming other actresses such as Mitsuki Takahata, Haru, and Yui Aoi, but these are unrelated to this particular report and remain unconfirmed speculation rather than established fact.

*This article is compiled as an excerpt and summary of the 5ch (Geinō Supo Sokuhō+) thread “[Bunshun] Called Mei Nagano Directly and Scolded Her! “Stay Away From My Boyfriend!” — Kentaro Sakaguchi’s Two-Timing Scandal With Mei Nagano and His Marriage Partner… The Full Inside Story.”

  • Daisuke Hori’s 7-Day Challenge to Sleep Just 30 Minutes a Day Draws Mixed Reactions as 20,000 Viewers Tune In

Streamer Daisuke Hori is livestreaming a project in which he limits his sleep to just 30 minutes a day for one week. As of September 13, several days into the challenge, his viewership has topped 20,000. Hori himself explains it as “part of a daily routine I’ve kept up for 17 years,” but on 5ch forums, doubts about his claims have surfaced after he was seen dozing off mid-stream. Other posts questioned the danger of the stunt by citing Guinness World Record figures for staying awake, compared him to the late mountaineer Nobukazu Kuriki, or criticized him for monetizing the stream through Super Chat donations — opinions have been sharply divided.

Getting famous without causing trouble for anyone else — gotta admit that's impressive of him.

Background and Key Points of This Story

Daisuke Hori, the streamer at the center of this story, has declared he will spend a week living on just 30 minutes of sleep a day. Commenters on the thread cited sleep-deprivation world record figures (such as 453 hours), but these numbers come from posters’ own recollections and have not been verified for accuracy in this article. The mountaineer brought up for comparison, Nobukazu Kuriki, drew attention for attempting to summit Everest solo without supplemental oxygen and died during a climb in 2018; even during his lifetime, questions had been raised about the accuracy of his claims. Hori’s own description of this as “a routine I’ve kept up for 17 years” is likewise something that can’t be verified externally, and this difficulty in verification is part of why viewers have been so divided over whether to believe him. It’s also worth noting that the criticism over monetizing the stream via Super Chat is speculation on the part of 5ch commenters, not something confirmed to reflect Hori’s actual intent.

The "Star Rail-ification" is coming along nicely too.
Handing out an outdated character for free means there's another round of power creep coming.
Team comps have basically been forced ever since Nadokurai, making it hard to build anything outside that one combo.

Background and Key Points of Debate

Genshin Impact is an open-world RPG developed by China’s HoYoverse (formerly miHoYo), and because it shares character-building and gacha mechanics with the studio’s other title, Honkai: Star Rail, players have coined the term “Star Rail-ification” to describe trends like giving away outdated characters for free and the steady creep of power inflation. The thread’s disagreement centered on two main points. The first was whether the game’s open-world exploration freedom really earns it the label “a better Zelda” compared to The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, with pushback citing the lack of physics-based puzzle mechanics as evidence against the comparison. The second was the evaluation of the main quest line (Archon Quests), with some demanding a skip function due to its length and tedium, against others arguing that, including the side stories, the writing deserves a high rating overall. The thread also noted that the livestream’s concurrent viewer numbers have become harder to compare directly since simulcasting on X began, as the audience is now split across platforms.

  • AI Solves Notorious Math Problem — 25 Fields Medalists Fire Back With Condemnation

After US-based OpenAI announced it had solved the unsolved math problem known as the Navier-Stokes equations, 25 Fields Medal laureates released an emergency statement on September 11 condemning the AI-driven solving of hard math problems. The statement reportedly plans to gather more signatures from mathematicians going forward. On 5channel, opinions split: some voiced fears that being outdone by AI could erode mathematicians’ sense of purpose and cost them their jobs, others dismissed AI as merely repackaging ideas humans came up with, while still others took the pragmatic view that the process doesn’t matter as long as results are delivered.

On the 11th, 25 mathematicians who hold the Fields Medal — often called the “Nobel Prize of mathematics” — released an emergency statement condemning efforts by companies to use artificial intelligence (AI) to solve difficult math problems. They say they plan to collect signatures from even more mathematicians going forward.

The statement appears to be a response to US-based OpenAI’s announcement that it had solved a hard math problem known as the Navier-Stokes equations. The Navier-Stokes equations were named one of the Millennium Prize Problems by the US-based Clay Mathematics Institute in 2000, carrying a $1 million prize…

    Re: #30
They've had the media loudly repeating "linear rain band" (a Japanese term for a stalled heavy-rain storm cluster) over and over,
even having them warn of a "risk of a linear rain band forming" to stoke fear,
yet they can't actually predict any of it —
it's all explained after the fact.

So they hide behind vague "risk of forming" language to cover up how poor their forecasting really is,
and coining the term "linear rain band" in the first place was just another layer of that cover-up.
And now, on top of it all,
they've started saying "squall line" instead —
which is actually the more internationally standard term, yet they never used it until now.

It's nothing but the Japan Meteorological Agency putting on a show so they can keep the supercomputer budget flowing their way.

And the media just falls in line without a shred of criticism.
    31AnonymousSep 12, 2026 23:19

    37AnonymousSep 13, 2026 01:06
    Re: #1
The real problem here is something else entirely:
AI doesn't actually understand the underlying theory —
it's just generating text in whatever way suits it,
and it's humans who have to vouch for whether the resulting output is even correct.
Even the mistakes get "corrected" based on edits from people who already back the AI's output.
Bottom line, it's no different from Yutabon (a controversial Japanese child YouTuber and school dropout) claiming he proved a math formula.
    38AnonymousSep 13, 2026 01:10
Tasugisanmyaku (the thread's poster/OP) seems to have a taste for junk news that's already slightly past its expiration date —

Background and key points of this debate

The Navier-Stokes equations are one of the seven Millennium Prize Problems named by the US Clay Mathematics Institute in 2000, each carrying a $1 million prize at the time. Of those seven, only the Poincaré Conjecture has been certified as solved so far, and the rest have stumped mathematicians for decades. The Fields Medal, awarded once every four years to mathematicians under 40, is often called the “Nobel Prize of mathematics” — which makes it unusually significant that 25 of its laureates signed a joint statement at all. The thread’s debate splits largely into two camps talking past each other: anxiety that being solved by AI undermines mathematicians’ profession and intellectual edge (comments 6, 17, etc.), versus a pragmatic view that the means don’t matter as long as results are delivered (comments 10, 15, etc.). As comment 21 points out, the statement doesn’t actually call for banning AI use outright — it also raises an educational point about what humans are supposed to learn along the way, a fact worth noting apart from the emotional backlash.

Background and Key Points of This Topic

In recent years, major chains like McDonald’s, Matsuya, and Burger King have increasingly rolled out touch-panel ordering, and more stores now station staff nearby to help customers who aren’t used to it. The “touch panels are scary” comments seen in the thread reflect the fact that a certain share of customers are struggling to keep up with this shift toward unmanned, labor-saving operations. Against a backdrop of ongoing food price increases, interest in home cooking with cheap ingredients like bean sprouts and oatmeal also remains strong, which is part of the context here too. As for convenience store discounting, practices differ depending on the individual store and the chain’s head office policy — 7-Eleven was previously ordered by the Japan Fair Trade Commission to make improvements after its head office was found to have restricted franchise stores from offering markdown sales. The thread’s comments about “Lawson gives you discounts” likely reflect these kinds of differences between chains.

  • Pre-Built House or Custom-Built Home? 5ch: ‘The Building Itself Is Worth Zero After 30 Years Anyway’

A thread on 5ch’s “Nandemo Jikkyo” board blew up over the choice of buying a pre-built house (“tateuri”) instead of a custom-built one. It kicked off with a post from someone who picked a pre-built home for its prime location, and from there the discussion spread into the nuts and bolts of home buying: renovation costs after 30 years, a raffle for a newly built house going for just 5.8 million yen, and headaches around foreclosed properties. One poster also reported seeing a pre-built house under construction being left exposed to weeks of rain, sparking a split between those worried about construction quality and those pushing back on that concern.

What are you gonna do about renovations?
I don't want to sink 10 million yen into renovating a house whose structure originally cost less than 15 million, so once it hits 30 years old I'm thinking I'll skip renovating, tear it down, and just rebuild something sized for me and my spouse instead

Out in the countryside, recently-built houses barely change hands
Even after an early divorce, both spouses are usually locals, so one of them just keeps living there in lieu of alimony/child support. Not many people work for companies with a transfer culture either, and even when there is a transfer, they're more likely to go alone and leave the family behind
And for older properties, once you factor in a full renovation, a pre-built house can end up cheaper anyway
    68AnonymousSep 12, 2026 09:30
On my commute there's a well-known online real-estate company that knocked down 2 houses and is building 3 pre-built houses in their place
Even through this stretch of endless rain they've kept building all day
and after they pack up in the evening they don't even cover anything — it's left completely exposed to the rain, pillars and interior walls soaked
And since it's been raining day after day, there's no time for it to dry out either
The wood's gotta be getting weaker (worse earthquake resistance), and mold's probably already growing
Once it gets sandwiched between the wallpaper and the exterior wall, it'll just keep cultivating in there
you know how sometimes you see a house where the wallpaper's completely covered in mold
or you tear one down and the insulation is caked in mold — this is exactly how that happens

Background and Key Points of This Discussion

Both custom-built and pre-built houses ultimately mean owning a detached house, but they differ greatly in how much freedom you have over acquiring land and in how the total cost breaks down. In the thread, some pointed out that because a pre-built house’s price is fixed together with the land, it’s easier to end up in a good location, whereas pre-built houses from major home builders tend to cluster in the suburbs. Opinions split over how rain exposure during construction affects materials: one side argued it’s fine once it dries out, while the other argued that moisture that has soaked into the wood’s interior or joints can’t escape without tearing the structure down, leading to mold and reduced earthquake resistance — the back-and-forth got fairly technical. The thread also touched on the structural backdrop in rural areas, where the secondhand market is thin and a strong preference for new construction persists, highlighting regional differences in the housing market that city-dwellers’ assumptions alone don’t capture.

  • Producer Yasushi Akimoto Slammed for ‘Sexualizing Young Girls’ as Old Lyrics Resurface — CNN Once Grilled Him Too

Criticism accusing songwriter-producer Yasushi Akimoto of “sexualizing young girls” is spreading again on social media, centered on lyrics from the idol songs he has produced over the years. The trigger was a news article revisiting his old lyrics, which also recapped how CNN once grilled Akimoto over the sexual exploitation of underage idols. The story was cross-posted to 5channel’s Geinou/Sports Breaking News+ board, where users cited lyrics and episodes from the AKB48 and Onyanko Club eras, sparking both defenses and criticism. Defenders pointed out that the original “1st generation” members were popular with female fans too, while critics mostly focused on the lyrics themselves and the industry’s structural problems.

Amid the backlash against Yasushi Akimoto, the resurfaced lyrics for a “sexy elementary schooler idol” song are almost too much to stomach

Pretty much every member is just a sacrifice for the sake of a chosen few, you know?

Background and Key Points of the Debate

For nearly 40 years, from the Onyanko Club in the 1980s to AKB48 (formed in 2005), Yasushi Akimoto has planned and written lyrics for numerous idol groups. What’s being revisited now are lyrics from songs released during that span; claims that they depict minors as sexual objects have surfaced repeatedly before, and overseas media have previously covered the topic in the context of critiquing idol culture. In the thread, opinions split between those defending the material by pointing to the makeup of the fan base at the time, and those criticizing the lyrics themselves and the industry’s underlying structure. Unverified rumors about Akimoto’s personal life were also posted, but since the facts could not be confirmed, they are not covered in this article.

*This article is compiled by excerpting and summarizing the 5channel (Geinou/Sports Breaking News+) thread “[Entertainment] Backlash floods in against Yasushi Akimoto over ‘sexualizing young girls’ — “It’s creepy”: resurfaced explicit lyrics, and how CNN once grilled Akimoto too“.

Let me spell it out for the slow folks here

When you use Moonshot's cloud service,
it's the RAG layer of that cloud
that's doing this — not Kimi itself

RAG is a mechanism built specifically for that purpose
It's a system that enriches the user's prompt,
    say by pulling from Wikipedia
    or running a Google search
It enriches the prompt and then feeds it to the LLM —
that's the stage that happens before the LLM call
In other words, this isn't about Kimi

When it's used for a company or an industry,
it's a system whose job is to access
that company's or industry's databases and existing system data,
customized and built in for each one
to make it easier to use

Doing that is a good thing for users

There's nothing wrong with it at all
    33AnonymousSep 12, 2026 23:19
If you're running the open-source Kimi yourself,
you're free to set it up to work the same way described above beforehand too

    And on top of that!

Claude Code, the flagship of the AI-agent era,
    started from Anthropic's own proposal
Claude Code is exactly the kind of AI agent
that runs "multiple generative AIs" in parallel
    and does whatever it takes
    to accomplish the user's goal

That means 10,000 agents working in parallel —
in other words, it's basically a company with 10,000 employees on staff

Within that, it reaches Anthropic's own LLMs, OpenAI's API, local models — every system out there

Claude Code is the true pioneer of exactly this approach

    Anthropic,
you're the one who proposed this in the first place

    Anthropic,
acting like you had nothing to do with it is pretty rich

Background and Key Points of This Topic

Anthropic regularly publishes threat reports summarizing cases of misuse involving its own models, and this time, in the September 2026 edition, the names of China’s Moonshot AI (developer of “Kimi”) and DeepSeek came up. According to the report, both companies had been forwarding user inputs to Claude behind the scenes and displaying the returned answers as their own service’s output. On the thread, many reactions framed it as “just borrowed goods from an American-made AI after all,” while posts like #32 and #33 pushed back with technical arguments that “this isn’t about the Kimi model itself — it’s just the cloud’s RAG (retrieval-augmented generation) process calling an external LLM, and combining multiple LLMs like this is nothing unusual in system design.” Reading only the headline, it’s easy to come away thinking “Kimi was wholesale imitating Claude,” but what the report actually takes issue with is the backend processing behind service delivery, not the contents of the trained model itself — a distinction that’s easy to miss.

  • ‘Rejected Even With Steady Income’: Elderly Singles Locked Out of Renting

A TV program spotlighted a growing number of cases where single people with jobs and steady income are being turned away by real estate agencies when trying to rent — and the story caught fire on 5ch’s News Speed+ board. The program featured testimony from a man in his 60s: “Even though I’m working and have income, I still got rejected.” On the thread, posters repeatedly pointed out that landlords avoid elderly single tenants mainly over the risk of lonely deaths (kodokushi) and the cost of restoring the unit afterward, sparking debate over whether public housing and local council watch-over services are actually working. The discussion also spilled into the broader question of whether owning or renting is better for old age.

Isn't public housing supposed to handle this?
    26AnonymousSep 12, 2026 23:36
    Re: #7
The city housing near me has basically turned into a complex full of elderly people living alone. It's ancient and there's no plan to rebuild it, so young people and families won't move in — that's probably why.

Re: #7 Even public housing turns them down? What, did they commit murder or something?
    64AnonymousSep 12, 2026 23:45
You can rent just fine normally — tenant rights are strong in Japan. This is the usual pattern of Close-Up Gendai (an NHK current-affairs show) manufacturing a 'poor vulnerable victim' narrative.

    Re: #64
Nobody wants to rent to old guys — the odds of a lonely death are too high. If you were the landlord you'd feel the same way.

Yeah, this. Google it and plenty comes up.

Big cities have much better support services.

The "Nakano Ward Anshin Sumai Pack" (Safe Living Package) is a service offered by providers under agreement with Nakano Ward for singles living in private rental housing — it bundles ongoing welfare check-ins with coverage for clearing out belongings and restoring the unit if the tenant dies.

Singles should just live in Nakano Ward, which has the service mentioned in Re: #138

Guess I'm moving to Nakano Ward!

Look, if you're going to run an apartment business you need to just accept that lonely deaths and sudden deaths are par for the course. Everyone knows people die eventually! And it's not just today's elderly — the tenants you have right now will get old too. Or are you planning to treat them like valued customers now, then find some excuse to kick them out once they age?

    > Or are you planning to treat them like valued customers now, then find some excuse to kick them out once they age?

That's probably exactly the mindset of landlords who flatly refuse to rent to the elderly.
    169AnonymousSep 13, 2026 00:04
    Re: #144
Which is exactly why nobody's going to want to run apartment buildings anymore — they'll just shut down the business once major repairs are needed.
    185AnonymousSep 13, 2026 00:07
If you won't rent to singles, what are you supposed to do about salarymen on job transfers?
    197AnonymousSep 13, 2026 00:09
    Re: #185
They'll rent to a salaryman if he works for a company big enough to have transfers
    218AnonymousSep 13, 2026 00:13
    Re: #185
Can you even read Japanese? Did you actually look at this?

We're talking about elderly singles here, lol
    215AnonymousSep 13, 2026 00:12
It'd be fine if there were private apartments that bundled in end-of-life care. The actual problem is lonely death — if they go into a hospital before that and pass away there, the room stays clean.
    225AnonymousSep 13, 2026 00:14
    Re: #215
Exactly this. In an era with this many singles, I don't want people who can't think that far ahead running apartment businesses.
    239AnonymousSep 13, 2026 00:17
    Re: #215
Then just rent only to elderly people who have a voluntary guardianship contract in place — just a ¥50,000–100,000/month subscription fee, lol 😁
    262AnonymousSep 13, 2026 00:23
    Re: #215
That already exists normally — it's called "service-attached rental housing for the elderly."

And if lonely death alone is the concern, there are services that monitor your electricity usage too. Plus the post office has people who check in on you about once a week — those only cost a few thousand yen a month.
    217AnonymousSep 13, 2026 00:13
There must be plenty of well-off elderly single men out there — why doesn't anyone build rentals for them?
    222AnonymousSep 13, 2026 00:14
    Re: #217
When you factor in the risk of cleanup afterward and rent going unpaid, of course landlords balk.
    226AnonymousSep 13, 2026 00:14
    Re: #217
People like that just buy a house or condo even as singles

People with money go into high-end nursing homes. And when I say "nursing home," I mean facilities with spacious private rooms and doctors and nurses on-site 24/7.

    Re: #240
Nah, what's the point of leaving behind a house and land after you die when you're single anyway?
    251AnonymousSep 13, 2026 00:21
    Re: #244
There's no point leaving money behind either. At least a house lets you live comfortably while you're alive.
    258AnonymousSep 13, 2026 00:23
    Re: #251
Why not just go with a nursing home? Care and meals are included.
    263AnonymousSep 13, 2026 00:24
    Re: #258
Sure, if you can find one that'll actually take you.
    270AnonymousSep 13, 2026 00:25
    Re: #258
Not sure what kind of nursing home you're picturing, but most places that'll take you while you're still healthy will kick you out once you develop dementia, become bedridden, or need serious full-time care.
    257AnonymousSep 13, 2026 00:22
Guess the homeowner vs. renter debate is settled for now, huh?
    264AnonymousSep 13, 2026 00:24
    Re: #257
Sure, if your mortgage is fully paid off, but if you're still paying it down the real hell is still ahead of you, right?
    266AnonymousSep 13, 2026 00:25
    Re: #257
Both have their pros and cons.
    284AnonymousSep 13, 2026 00:28
    Re: #257
The answer's already in: both the homeowner camp and the renter camp are losers.

A house isn't something you rent or buy — the real winners are the ones who just get one handed to them. If your own parents don't have one, get it from your spouse's parents instead (lol)
    281AnonymousSep 13, 2026 00:27
    Re: #270
Do they even have somewhere to go once they're kicked out? That's just heartless.
    294AnonymousSep 13, 2026 00:29
    Re: #281
It's a business. You wouldn't want to pay out of pocket to take care of some random stranger's elderly relative either, right? Landlords and nursing home operators are the same way.
    298AnonymousSep 13, 2026 00:30
    Re: #281
For-profit companies just need to turn a profit — what happens to the person afterward isn't their problem.

Background and Key Points of This Discussion

Behind the difficulty elderly singles face in renting is landlords’ reluctance over the cost of restoring a unit after a lonely death and the risk of unpaid rent. The government has set up a safety-net housing program for “those requiring housing assistance,” but in practice both public awareness and the supply of such housing remain insufficient. The thread split over whether to view this as “a rational risk judgment by landlords” or as “de facto exclusion of the elderly.” Municipal services that bundle welfare check-ins with coverage for clearing out belongings after death (such as the Nakano Ward example) came up as a possible solution, but this kind of program hasn’t spread nationwide, and the disparity in support between municipalities is something the original report alone doesn’t convey well. There were also claims that public housing “isn’t working,” but that reflects a regional issue where aging housing complexes can’t be rebuilt and their tenant base has become fixed in place — it isn’t simply a flaw in the system itself. The discussion also expanded into the homeowner-versus-renter debate, but it’s worth noting that this is a separate issue from the core problem at hand: elderly singles being refused rental housing.
