  • Sotetsu Izumino Line Extension: Plan for Early Opening to Keio SFC Scrapped — 5ch: “Kuramino Station Is an Unstaffed Stop With Under 2,000 Riders a Day”

Kanagawa Prefecture has effectively shelved its plan to build, as a standalone first-phase project, just the roughly 3km stretch of the Sotetsu Izumino Line from Shonandai to the area near Keio University’s Shonan Fujisawa Campus (SFC), and will instead reconsider the entire roughly 8km line all the way to its terminus at Kuramino. The reversal comes down to the difficulty of securing profitability, effectively sending back to square one a plan that had been laid out in the 2016 Council for Transport Policy report. On the 5ch thread, discussion centered less on the rail plan itself and more on side topics: the push to attract a new Tokaido Shinkansen station to the Kuramino area at the line’s endpoint, and debates over SFC’s reputation and its AO (admissions-office) entrance exam system.

Kanagawa Prefecture has announced it will move forward studying the extension of the Sotetsu Izumino Line across the entire Shonandai–Kuramino section. Until now, the stretch from Shonandai to the area near Keio University’s Shonan Fujisawa Campus (SFC) had been designated the first-phase section, but since profitability could not be secured there, the study area is being expanded to cover the full line through to Kuramino.

The Sotetsu Izumino Line extension plan calls for connecting the current terminus, Shonandai Station, to the Kuramino district of Samukawa Town — home to JR Sagami Line’s Kuramino Station — a distance of roughly 8km. It was also included in the 2016 Council for Transport Policy report.

Kanagawa Prefecture had, until now, been studying the roughly 3km stretch to the area near Keio University’s SFC — where a certain level of ridership could be expected — as the first-phase section, with plans for a Station A near Akihadai Park in Fujisawa City and a Station B near SFC. The remaining roughly 5km on to the Kuramino district had been designated the second-phase section.

The Ministry of Finance's policy is to drastically cut bloated university enrollment quotas given the shrinking, aging population — phasing out "F-rank" (bottom-tier) schools and departments one after another that can't stay solvent without international students.
They're also working to curb the university enrollment rate itself, to weed out students who barely study and narrow down who actually goes to college.

Honestly, that's a surprisingly good policy coming from the Finance Ministry.

    Re: #122
    Of course not.
Kuramino Station is an unstaffed stop with under 2,000 boardings a day.
It's got no name recognition even within Kanagawa.

Background and Key Points of This Story

The Sotetsu Izumino Line extension is a plan that was included in the 2016 Council for Transport Policy report. The prefecture had positioned the stretch up to near Keio SFC — where profitability seemed easier to secure — as the first phase, with the remaining section to Kuramino designated the second phase. This policy shift comes because officials judged that the first-phase section alone couldn’t be made to pay for itself on its own; it doesn’t mean the SFC extension has been scrapped outright, but rather that the plan is being reorganized to study the full roughly 8km to Kuramino as one unified project instead of splitting it into phases. This is the point readers most easily get wrong: the accurate framing isn’t “SFC extension canceled” but “first-phase construction called off.” In the thread, discussion centered less on the rail line’s own profitability and more on side topics — the push to attract a new Tokaido Shinkansen station to the Kuramino area at the extension’s endpoint, and debates over SFC’s reputation and its AO admissions system. The concrete figure that Kuramino Station sees under 2,000 boardings a day at an unstaffed station is also a useful reference point for gauging the scale of the extension plan.

  • New Fire Emblem Title “Banshi Senkō” Opens at 127K, Falls Short of Engage’s 144K First Week

Fire Emblem: Banshi Senkō (万紫千紅, lit. “a riot of purples and reds”) opened its first week at 127,000 copies, falling short of both its immediate predecessor Engage’s 144,000 and Three Houses’ 143,000. Thread debate centered on how to weigh the roughly 2.2-million-unit gap in hardware install base between the Switch (at the time of Three Houses) and Switch 2 — one camp argued the game is “holding up well once you factor in the smaller install base,” while another countered that it’s not that the series is “finished,” but that it’s clearly on a downward slide. Many posters also brought up 3DS-era numbers like Awakening (262,000) and Fates (353,000) for comparison, once again highlighting the series’ long-term decline in opening-week sales.

Palworld topping the pop-up store charts, the weekly sales numbers, Wolverine flopping, the Switch 2 version of Trails winning out — there's just too much stuff for that guy to lose his mind over

Background and Key Points of Debate

A metric that comes up often when discussing first-week sales is the comparison against hardware install base, and this time the starting point for discussion was the gap between Three Houses (at a Switch install base of 8.59 million) and the Switch 2 version of Banshi Senkō (an estimated install base of roughly 6 million). Looking at raw unit counts alone, sales dipped only slightly, from Three Houses’ 143,000 to Banshi Senkō’s 127,000, but once you factor in the roughly 2.2-million-unit gap in install base, opinion split between “proportionally, it’s holding up well” and “this is evidence the new hardware’s own growth is sluggish.” Looking at the series as a whole, first-week unit sales have been on a downward trend — from the 3DS era’s Awakening (262,000) and Fates (353,000) down to the Switch generation’s Engage (144,000) and Banshi Senkō (127,000) — but this overlaps with a broader trend of shrinking physical-copy launch sales across the console/handheld market as a whole, so it would be premature to chalk it up purely to FE losing steam on its own. As for the gap in user scores (Banshi Senkō at 8.9 vs. Engage at 7.0), review-site scores can skew depending on sample size and timing, so that should be read separately from the first-week sales comparison.

Project content seems to be fading. Comments included sarcastic jabs like “At the end of the day, these guys would sell their souls for view counts,” along with pointed remarks suggesting he’s drifting toward topics that pull more views, like Juice=Juice (“Milk”), since “you can’t rack up views with Hello! Project’s been starved for content since forever,” pointing to the group’s own lack of video-worthy material as the real issue — leaving posters split on whether this is a YouTuber’s personal attitude problem or simply a symptom of Hello! Project’s thin content pipeline.

    34AnonymousSep 28, 2026 21:54
Views are part of it, but honestly Hello! Project just doesn't have much content to work with.
New songs come out like once a year, and these are live-focused idols — you can't really get why they're appealing unless you go see them in person.
If you're just watching from home, there's seriously nothing to talk about.

Hello! Project's been starved for content since forever.
The agency's clueless about social media and just puts out the same formulaic Hello! Station-type videos.

Even if there's free content, nobody's going to watch it if it's not actually worth watching.

Yeah, Kunio really is an outlier among Hello! Project YouTubers.
Most YouTubers' commentary is just "this part's so amazing~" and nothing more.

Background and Key Points of This Discussion

This board, known as “Morning Coffee,” is a 5ch forum dedicated to Hello! Project, and the activities of YouTubers who cover Hello! Project (the roster of groups including Morning Musume。’26 and Juice=Juice) regularly become a topic there. Behind this thread lies a structural issue: compared with other talent agencies, Hello! Project has a lower frequency of new songs, live streams, and other exposure, making it hard for YouTubers to keep finding fresh material. Within the thread, two viewpoints run side by side: sarcasm aimed at YouTubers who’ve started prioritizing topics like Juice=Juice or Rosy that tend to pull more views, and the counter-argument that Hello! Project itself simply lacks content to begin with — posters are split on which is the real cause. It’s worth noting that no specific YouTuber is actually named in the thread, so this remains speculation and commentary on an anonymous board rather than confirmed fact. Several YouTuber names, including Kunio and RYOMUSIC, come up for comparison, but these too reflect individual posters’ subjective opinions.

  • “6-Member Tsubaki” vs. “7-Member Rosy”: 5ch Points Out the Talent Gap Between Two Kobushi Reject Groups

On a Hello! Project thread, a post comparing “6-Member Tsubaki” (later Tsubaki Factory) — formed from trainees who didn’t make the cut for Kobushi Factory — with the current “7-Member Rosy,” also formed from rejected trainees, went viral. While acknowledging that the industry has changed (fans can now attend handshake events with just one CD purchase), commenters pointed out that members like Yamagishi, Niinuma, and Kishimoto were already highly regarded back in their trainee days. Many argued that even though both were “leftover groups,” there was a clear difference in the members’ raw potential. Others noted that Kobushi itself later struggled too, with tour tickets eventually selling below face value, so it’s not simply a case of one group being better than the other.

    1AnonymousSep 28, 2026 20:48
Yamagishi: Praised for her figure since her trainee days
Niinuma: Early favorite, pushed as a top candidate from the start
Kishimoto: The skilled singer of the group
    2AnonymousSep 28, 2026 20:48
Sure, times have changed — you can get a handshake with just one CD now — but the members' potential was on a completely different level.
    3AnonymousSep 28, 2026 20:50
Isn't this exactly why Rosy is struggling?
    4AnonymousSep 28, 2026 20:52
Kobushi itself was already stacked with Hamaura and other sympathy-vote picks to begin with.
    10AnonymousSep 28, 2026 20:57
    Re: #4
Kobushi only looked decent because Nomura leveled up and they had a secret weapon in Reirei — Kobushi itself was the real leftovers group. Hello! Project fans openly called it the "bargain sale group" and figured the next group would be the real deal.
    5AnonymousSep 28, 2026 20:53
6-Tsuba's draw at shows was even worse than Rosy's.
    12AnonymousSep 28, 2026 20:58
    Re: #5
Right, 6-Member Tsubaki wasn't popular either, but the point is the members' potential was totally different.
    6AnonymousSep 28, 2026 20:54
At the 7-member stage they were still just trainees — Rosy didn't even have a name yet. Totally different from Tsubaki, which had already made its indie debut as official Hello! Project members.
    14AnonymousSep 28, 2026 20:59
    Re: #6
Their indie songs were quietly pretty good too.

    11AnonymousSep 28, 2026 20:58

    19AnonymousSep 28, 2026 21:03

By year two, Kobushi's regional tour tickets were selling below face value too, so it's hard to say either way.

    Well, I mean, Danbara though…
    24AnonymousSep 28, 2026 21:11
Tsubaki was Kobushi's leftovers, Ocha Norma was Beyooooonds' leftovers, and Rosy is Ocha Norma's leftovers.
    25AnonymousSep 28, 2026 21:13
The whole "indie debut first" tradition just stopped happening after Beyooooonds.
    27AnonymousSep 28, 2026 21:15

    31AnonymousSep 28, 2026 21:18
    Re: #10
Really? I thought early on, Taguchi and Renashi seemed like they were expected to do well.
    32AnonymousSep 28, 2026 21:19
The main reason 6-Member Tsubaki never took off was that, for some reason, they were formed right in the middle of Kobushi's big promotional push.
    33AnonymousSep 28, 2026 21:23
The moment you factor in Juju-chan, Tsubaki is simply in a higher league.
    34AnonymousSep 28, 2026 21:24
Well, it was basically Kobushi as the main act and Tsubaki as the side act. Kobushi then self-destructed, and here we are.
    35AnonymousSep 28, 2026 21:27
Like, why release such a gloomy song for your indie debut? Their opening-act slot for ℃-ute was so painful I couldn't even watch.
    36AnonymousSep 28, 2026 21:28
Rosy just formed, so this is about what you'd expect. Tsubaki would be ranked below Rosy too if it weren't for "Ritokyame" (a member's nickname) joining.
    37AnonymousSep 28, 2026 21:28
Up until "Hatsukoi Sunrise," they were pretty hopeless — kind of like Rosy is now.
    38AnonymousSep 28, 2026 21:30
"Seishun Manmanka" and "Kedakaku" (song titles) were what got me into Tsubaki.
    39AnonymousSep 28, 2026 21:30
Tsubaki had real momentum back in the "Teion Yakedo" (Low-Temperature Burn) era. Even Gurasan (a well-known fan/blogger) was raving about them.

    53AnonymousSep 28, 2026 21:59
You can tell how much effort the agency put in just by how they were treated post-debut — Tsubaki got nothing but great songs, while Rosy is drowning in duds.
    56AnonymousSep 28, 2026 22:04
    Re: #53
Though honestly, it was already bad news when their planned 2024 debut got quietly scrapped without explanation.

Background and Key Points of This Discussion

Hello! Project has repeatedly used the same method when forming new groups: gathering trainees who didn’t make the cut for an existing group’s lineup. Tsubaki Factory’s origins trace back to six trainees who missed out on Kobushi Factory, and the newly formed “7-Member Rosy” is said to have come about the same way. What split opinion on the thread was whether “missed the cut” can simply be equated with “lacking talent” — several posters pointed to cases where members’ reputations shot up years later, arguing that people who were simply held in reserve shouldn’t be lumped in with genuine leftovers. It’s not unusual for a group’s early reputation to diverge from how its members are judged years down the line — one former Kobushi member went on to become a core member of Juice=Juice — which shows just how hard it is to judge “potential” right after a group forms.

※This article was compiled as an excerpt and summary of the 5ch (Hello! Project) thread “‘6-Member Tsubaki,’ formed from Kobushi rejects, and ‘7-Member Rosy,’ also formed from rejects — the members’ potential was worlds apart.“

  • Fans campaign for Kotomi Suzuki, Yuna Aoki, and Nana Tamura to join ANGERME — 5ch: “Tamura’s all in”

A thread appeared on 5ch’s Hello! Project board pleading for three trainees — Kotomi Suzuki, Yuna Aoki, and Nana Tamura — to be added to ANGERME as soon as possible. Replies were split over whether the three actually want ANGERME or have their eyes on a different group; some insisted Nana Tamura is “100% set on ANGERME,” while others speculated that Kotomi Suzuki and Yuna Aoki are actually aiming for Juice=Juice. The conversation then spiraled into predictions about when current members will graduate and what the group’s lineup might look like years from now.

Dumping anyone else into it would just feel unfair to them.
    11AnonymousSep 28, 2026 21:48
Kotomi's spot in the next show is even shaky, isn't it?
Being the oldest as a 9th-grader while constantly getting scolded and cut from songs has got to be rough.
She and Saeki were already the only two stuck with zero unit songs and nothing but group numbers — and yesterday even those group numbers got trimmed by one compared to last time.
She's clearly better suited to something outside Hello! Project.
    13AnonymousSep 28, 2026 21:48
    Aoki's fine where she is.
As for the red slot after Hashisako, that really should go to Suzuki or Tamura.
    14AnonymousSep 28, 2026 21:49
    Shimoderiya wasn't nearly that bad.
Isn't the closest comparison Kosuga from Sma 2nd Gen?
    15AnonymousSep 28, 2026 21:51
Even getting scolded, she'll probably just cry and never actually fix it.
And Mitsubachi (Tsubaki Factory) had lately been taking the long view with rookies and avoiding cutting them too much, too.
    16AnonymousSep 28, 2026 21:52
Yoshida's already on the verge of promotion via the nksk award, and Hattori's got the Aichi-region slot open now — one of them's bound to get in.

    57AnonymousSep 28, 2026 22:21
Suzuki's situation turned out exactly like people feared.

With looks and a figure like that, plus being good enough at competitive tennis to make a name for herself, she could've dialed tennis back to a hobby, gone the normal school route, and had an easy life.
Why take the thorny path instead?

No, going for idol is fine — with that face, sure.

She doesn't seem the least bit interested in singing or dancing.
If anything, she probably hates it.
    61AnonymousSep 28, 2026 22:22
Yamamoto's getting a solid solo part even though it's her first showcase.
Meanwhile Kotomi's only solo moment was in the rotating "Seinen no Shuchou" segment of Nippon no DNA, and she got totally upstaged by Sakata (who's got insane vocal power) — a literal elementary schooler.

    Tamenaga – Leader
    Matsumoto – Sub-leader
    Hirayama
    Shimoderiya
    Goto
    Nagano
Plus maybe three new high-school-age members

    Re: #113
Matsumoto's young but senior in tenure, so that's one thing — but if Goto and Hirayama graduate first, that's bad news.
It was the same with Musume (Morning Musume) — a popular mid-tier member graduating early does serious damage to the group.
    121AnonymousSep 28, 2026 22:37
    Re: #113
Wouldn't it have been better to hold onto Hashisako, who didn't seem to be burning out?
Though I guess they did get her to stay an extra six months.

    Background and talking points

New member additions in Hello! Project only ever become official once management formally announces them, so it’s worth flagging that the thread’s talk of “who’s aiming for which group” is hearsay and speculation, not statements from the trainees themselves. Posts predicting when current members will graduate fall into the same category — unconfirmed guesswork with no official announcement behind it, not fact. One exchange was also left out of this piece: a back-and-forth where posters singled out specific members as unwanted (e.g. “Tamura only, nobody else needed”) and traded insults like “You’re the one who’s not needed, idiot” with anyone who pushed back. It just repeated the same claims and abuse while stoking fan-vs-fan conflict, so it added nothing worth including.

*This article is excerpted and summarized from the 5ch (Hello! Project board) thread “Hurry up and let Kotomi Suzuki, Yuna Aoki, and Nana Tamura join ANGERME!“.

  • “Dawngazer” Officially Confirmed for Xbox as 72-Hour Block Period Ends

Dawngazer, the new title from the developers of Unicorn Overlord (slated for a 2028 release), was originally announced as a PS5 exclusive — but exactly 72 hours after that announcement, an Xbox Series X|S version was officially confirmed. On 5ch’s Hardware/Industry (“Geha”) board, discussion flared up around the suspiciously neat “72 hours” and the phrase “in response to many requests from our users” in the announcement, with posters split between thinking the Xbox version was planned all along and thinking the tiny dev team was simply able to change course quickly.

In response to many requests from our users, after careful consideration we have decided to add Xbox Series X|S to the list of supported platforms for “Dawngazer.”

We are pleased to announce that "SUNSOFT is Back! Retro Game Selection 2" will release on December 17, 2026.

    Re: #75
The 25th was a business day though

    Background and Discussion Points

What the thread calls the “block period” typically refers to a “timed exclusivity” deal, in which the platform holder with the exclusive contract pays to keep announcements and releases on other platforms suppressed for a set window — so it’s hard to believe the decision genuinely flipped purely on user requests, as the announcement’s “in response to many requests from our users” phrasing implies. Thread opinion split over the fact that the developer is a tiny 5-person studio: some argued a small team could make decisions fast, others argued the opposite — that such a small team couldn’t possibly have had the bandwidth. The suspiciously round figure of exactly 72 hours fueled speculation that this was contractually determined from the very start. It’s also worth flagging that the case mentioned in comment 33 — Sunsoft skipping an Xbox release for its retro game collection — involves a completely different publisher and title, and reading it alongside this story as direct evidence would be misleading.

*This article is excerpted and summarized from the 5ch (Hardware/Industry “Geha”) thread “[PS5] “Dawngazer” Officially Gets Xbox Version as 72-Hour Block Period Ends!“

  • What Should the Next-Gen “Switch 3” Look Like? 5ch: “At ¥80,000, Nobody’s Upgrading”

A thread on 5ch’s “Hardware/Industry” (Geha) board speculated about the shape of the yet-unannounced next-gen console, the “Switch 3.” Centered on the theory that Nintendo’s fortunes run in cycles — a slump through the DS→3DS and Wii→Wii U transitions, then a rebound with the Switch — talk turned to whether “Switch 3,” following the Switch 2, would land on a “success turn” or a “failure turn” in that pattern. Opinions split over whether to ditch portability for raw power or lean into portability as the selling point, and the discussion also covered how much further users could tolerate the console’s rising price.

    This one's actually 'viable' (´・ω・`)
It's probably the way to sell the hardware cheapest (digital software has higher margins, so they can subsidize the hardware price more deeply)
But going download-only is a pretty big risk too
Profits would shrink, but they'd be better off still supporting physical cartridges

They can't pull off gimmick hardware anymore (´・ω・`)
Once it becomes the unified platform, they can't just do whatever they want
The moment all the third parties gather and declare "We have united beneath Lord Nintendo!" "Let us flourish together in Japanese games!" and total unification is achieved, if Nintendo suddenly announces "lol we're scrapping Switch for a new brain-wave-controlled console!!" the third parties would keel over screaming "Our lord has lost his mind!! 99AnonymousSep 28, 2026 20:48
    Re: #95
Yeah, people will probably just quit gaming altogether at that point

Background and Key Points of This Discussion

Nintendo’s home/handheld consoles have followed a cycle: the DS and Wii succeeded, the 3DS and Wii U stumbled, and the Switch bounced back again. At the heart of the thread was this cyclical theory, underpinned by anxiety over whether Switch 3, following Switch 2, will land on a “success turn” or a “failure turn.” The other axis was price — against a backdrop of rising component and manufacturing costs, posters repeatedly floated the idea that the console’s price would climb even higher than the Switch 2’s. That said, all of this is speculation from 5ch users with no basis in official announcements; specifics like a 2033 launch date or DLSS generation numbers were simply pasted answers from a query to an AI chatbot, not sourced information. Likewise, the either/or framing of ditching portability for power versus keeping portability while holding the price down doesn’t reflect any actual development direction — it’s best read as fan wish-fulfillment, nothing more.

  • Takui Nakajima Announces Tour Truck Mini-Car Merch — 5ch Reacts: “Who’d Even Want This?”

To coincide with his October 12 concert at the Tokyo International Forum, Takui Nakajima has unveiled a new piece of merchandise: a die-cast miniature of his own tour truck. The model opens up to reveal it fully loaded with gear inside, prompting surprised reactions on 5ch’s Hello! The thread split between comparisons to the band-merch tradition of acts like B’z and Eikichi Yazawa, and pointed remarks that Nakajima actually tours the country in a real equipment van, leaving reactions mixed.

    57AnonymousSep 28, 2026 21:45

    Background and Points of Discussion

Miniature-car merchandise tied to a tour is a known tradition among artists who run large-scale tours, such as Eikichi Yazawa and B’z, and many in the thread drew comparisons to that lineage. At the same time, some pointed out that Nakajima himself doesn’t actually run a large tour truck operation — he tours the country in a van loaded with equipment — and that gap between the merch’s image and the reality fed into the surprised sense that it might be “more than he can really claim.” Tomica-format die-cast cars are a genre with strong collector appeal, meaning there’s potential demand beyond just fans, though some noted that low production runs tend to push the price up. Overall, the thread’s reactions were a mix of warm reception toward the new merch and puzzlement over the scale of it.

  • Yofu Runo Attaches Ribbon to Her Penlight to Avoid Color Clash — 5ch: “Mustard and Yellow Are Basically the Same Color”

Tsubaki Factory’s Yofu Runo asked fans to attach the “Ribbon Charm” merch — handed out at her birthday event late last year — to their penlights, and the request became a hot topic on 5ch. Her stated reason: to make it easier to tell her apart from new member Nishimura Otsuki, whose member color is close to her own. One fan who actually attached it and brought it to a show reported that the fabric’s glued-on part came loose partway through the roughly two-and-a-half-hour concert. That report kicked off a wider discussion on the thread about how often Yofu’s member color, “mustard,” overlaps with other members’ colors like “yellow” and “orange.”

Over the roughly 2.5-hour show, the fabric's glued part came loose.
Before this, there was also a case where the glue on a Stone Bijou charm (rhinestone decoration) came loose and the charm got lost.

    32AnonymousSep 28, 2026 20:30
Hokkaido: "I'm light purple." Tokyo: "I'm emerald green."
Aichi: "I'm light pink." Osaka: "Mustard, obviously lol" Nagasaki: "I'm royal blue."

Wait, did something weird just slip in there for a second?

    Re: #28
The question is why they didn't just give her the open orange slot.
    35AnonymousSep 28, 2026 20:32
I mean, Itsuki-chan already has the "main" yellow — Yofu's mustard is just a derivative shade, so she should know her place.
    36AnonymousSep 28, 2026 20:33
Same as with Shimoitani — they probably overlapped her color on purpose so it'd expose how unpopular she is.
    42AnonymousSep 28, 2026 20:36
    Re: #36
The King we've got now wouldn't embarrass herself even wearing Akiyama's red.
    38AnonymousSep 28, 2026 20:33
C'mon, let's not have them fighting over member colors — they're both vocal members.
    40AnonymousSep 28, 2026 20:34
Honestly, I feel like they should've just given Nishimura orange or light blue.
    41AnonymousSep 28, 2026 20:36
King seems like she'd suit orange or light blue equally well. But I think yellow works for her too.
    44AnonymousSep 28, 2026 20:37
    Re: #41
King apparently asked Chiori for her blessing because she wants to do the "Itsu-King" bit (a pun pairing her with yellow member Itsuki), so orange's fine as is…
    43AnonymousSep 28, 2026 20:37
Feels bad if orange ends up with zero members repping it.
    45AnonymousSep 28, 2026 20:37
Fun fact: back when King was a trainee, her color was actually pink.
    46AnonymousSep 28, 2026 20:38
Except in cases like Biyo, where it's the first member added post-debut, I feel like they generally don't reuse a color right after the member who held it leaves, even if it's technically open. In that sense Kishimoto's yellow isn't strange, but it overlaps too much with Yofu's. And if they're handing a color to Nishimura, I'd go with Niinuma's light blue over Yagi's orange, which would probably draw extra flak right now for a bunch of reasons.
    48AnonymousSep 28, 2026 20:41
    Re: #46
Might be better than making an enemy of the Chiori old-guard fans.
    50AnonymousSep 28, 2026 21:07
    Yamagishi — Light Green
Ogata — Light Orange (retired color)
    Niinuma — Light Blue
    Tanimoto — Light Purple
    Kishimoto — Yellow → Nishimura
Asakura — Light Pink → Murata
    Ono — Emerald Green
    Onoda — Peach
    Akiyama — Light Red
    Kawanishi — Purple
    Yagi — Orange
    Fukuda — Royal Blue
    Yofu — Mustard
    Ishii — White
    Doi — Bright Green

Why weren't light green or light blue used?
    51AnonymousSep 28, 2026 21:10
The red from the insect unit actually suits Nishimura.

    Re: #51
Yeah, King does kinda give off ladybug vibes.

    Background and Points of Debate

In Hello! Project, each member is assigned her own dedicated “member color,” letting fans show at a glance who they’re supporting through the color of their penlight or merch. But as the lineup grows, the pool of available colors inevitably runs short, and situations like this one — where “mustard” ends up close to both “yellow” and “orange” on multiple members — are a recurring issue across idol fandoms generally, not just Hello! Project. This time, that underlying color-overlap problem collided with a practical workaround: fans repurposing the limited-edition “Ribbon Charm” merch as a permanent penlight attachment, which exposed a separate issue — the fabric simply isn’t durable enough for that kind of use. The thread split into two camps: those who see the color overlap as a lack of consideration toward the newly added member, and those who see it as an inevitable side effect of a growing roster. Worth noting: comments about members being “unpopular” are unsubstantiated fan impressions, not verified facts, and shouldn’t be taken at face value.

※This article is compiled as an excerpt/summary of the 5ch (Hello! Project) thread “[Good News] Yofu Runo: “I put out ribbon merch at my birthday event, so please attach it to your penlights — a member with a similar color (Nishimura Otsuki) joined, so it’s to help tell us apart”.”

  • Juice=Juice unveils new segment ‘Kudo Yume King Contest’ — 5ch fans: ‘I’m winning this crown for sure’

A new installment of Juice=Juice’s popular “King Contest” series, “The 1st Kudo Yume King Contest,” has been released on YouTube. The four respondents — Dambara Ruru, Ishiyama Sakura, Endo Akari, and Kawashima Mifuu — compete to show how well they know fellow member Kudo Yume. On 5ch’s Hello! Project board, fans expressed delight that the series has returned and reacted to the contestants’ “I’m winning this crown for sure” determination, while others noted with regret that Reirei and Riai were absent from the shoot.

This is Juice=Juice! It's been a while since we did this segment!
This time it's the "Kudo Yume King Contest"!
The respondents are four members: Dambara Ruru, Ishiyama Sakura, Endo Akari, and Kawashima Mifuu.
And of course, the key to victory is the octopus!? (Yume's nickname is "Tako," meaning octopus)
Try the quiz along with them and enjoy!

Wait, this series is still going?
    5AnonymousSep 28, 2026 21:04
Eba, seriously? (Eba = Endo Akari's nickname)

Watching this on the bullet train

I figured they were too busy to keep this segment alive anymore

    Ah, right, it's her birthday

I'm a brand-new, totally smitten armchair fan (オチャノマーズ, meaning a fan who watches from home rather than attending events) who started following ANGERME too after hearing their live vocals at Rock in Japan Festival.
I always thought they were cute, but Gotō Hana's profile and gaze, her powerful voice, the way she varies the movement of her neck, even her fingertips — it's all just too good, and now I really want to go see ANGERME live too 🥹

So Reirei's not in this one?
    43AnonymousSep 28, 2026 21:16
    Sakurachi's close-up is adorable
    44AnonymousSep 28, 2026 21:16
Ripping off the 'Yofū-ō' contest again, huh (apparently referencing a similarly named segment from another idol group)
    45AnonymousSep 28, 2026 21:16
Since Tako-chan (Yume) was the subject this time, that leaves Eba, Ichika, and Sakurachi as the remaining three, huh
    46AnonymousSep 28, 2026 21:17
Riai's not here, and neither is her close friend Reirei
    47AnonymousSep 28, 2026 21:18
They forgot to add this to the playlist.
Hey agency, if you're watching, make sure to add it without forgetting.

    Re: #47
Write that properly in the YouTube comments.
If you post it here, it'll give away that they're watching Ōkami (the Hello! Project fan board), so nobody's doing that.

Got food poisoning from the ahijo!
    54AnonymousSep 28, 2026 21:22
Is Endo still doing the reporter segment after the handover?
    55AnonymousSep 28, 2026 21:22
I wonder when this was filmed?
Heard Riai had another job that day.

    Re: #55
Hard to tell since she's not a member who changes her hairstyle much.
If Arisawa or Matsunaga were there, we could've told.

You get to fully enjoy Mippuru's charm offensive

You can build a whole photo backdrop out of the merch — impressive
    60AnonymousSep 28, 2026 21:30
    Spoiler:
At the end, the octopus decoration on Tako-chan's head goes flying off

    Background and talking points

“King Contest” is a recurring Juice=Juice segment where members compete in a quiz to show how well they understand one specific member. As reactions like “Wait, this series is still going?” and “I figured they were too busy to keep this segment alive anymore” suggest, the thread was struck by surprise that a long-dormant series had returned. With Kudo Yume as this round’s subject, fans also speculated about which of the remaining members might be featured next. Alongside comments lamenting the absence of members who didn’t take part in the shoot, some posts branched off into talk about a video from sister group ANGERME — a cross-group perspective typical of Hello! Project fan threads.
