  • Fans Say They “Can’t Get Excited” About Angerme Under Ise’s Leadership — 5ch: “The Mid-Tier Members Are Too Weak”

After Moe Kamikokuryo’s graduation, Angerme shifted to a lineup led by Suzuran Ise. The current tour is built around a core trio of Ise, Hashisako, and Dango (a member’s nickname), but a thread on 5ch’s Hello! Project board saw fans saying they “just can’t get fired up about it.” Opinions in the thread split between those questioning the leader’s qualities and those pointing to a thin bench of mid-tier members, with repeated comparisons to the Wada, Takeuchi, and Kamikokuryo eras.

    1AnonymousSep 21, 2026 08:18
Yeah, it's probably because Ise's kind of a difficult personality, so people just don't feel like going "I want to support her!"
    4AnonymousSep 21, 2026 08:20
Thinking Ise and Tamenaga are probably gonna be hanging around dragging on for another 5 years kills any urge to root for them
    7AnonymousSep 21, 2026 08:23
The "three-color dango" push flopping didn't help either
The mid-tier lineup is just too weak
    47AnonymousSep 21, 2026 08:49
    Re: #7
They clearly pale in comparison even to Ono, Onoda, and Akiyama
    9AnonymousSep 21, 2026 08:23
Angerme's cycle had just settled down when this "looking-hot" bubble (盛れ, an image/filter-boost hype bubble) burst, and more DD-type fans (fans who support anyone rather than being loyal to one member) left than expected
Ise herself is popular enough, but if we're talking yin and yang, she leans more toward the "yin" side, which might play into it a bit too
And yeah, the mid-tier members are still lackluster
    10AnonymousSep 21, 2026 08:24
If she had her way, she probably wouldn't even want to be leader — she'd rather be doing what Kero's doing right now (Kero, a member's nickname)
    11AnonymousSep 21, 2026 08:25
Even back in the Takeuchi/Kamiko (Kamikokuryo's nickname) era there was kind of a "this'll do, right?" vibe being pushed on us
Of course, it's not the members' fault at all
    12AnonymousSep 21, 2026 08:25
Wada and Takeuchi had real charisma
    13AnonymousSep 21, 2026 08:26
This tour is pushing the "three-color dango" trio hard, but for fans of the other members it's just not fun
Honestly it's almost despair-inducing thinking this might just keep going
    14AnonymousSep 21, 2026 08:28
I don't think it's really Ise's fault so much as there just being no overwhelmingly popular ace-type member
    15AnonymousSep 21, 2026 08:28
Honestly I had hopes for Ise, but she couldn't break the downward trend
    16AnonymousSep 21, 2026 08:29
I went to the Goto/Nagano bar event but skipped Angerme's solo show this spring
Might go to the Pia Arena show though
    17AnonymousSep 21, 2026 08:29
Ise's an outsider (didn't come up through the group from the start) — she's not leader material
    18AnonymousSep 21, 2026 08:30
    Re: #17
If you make Tamenaga leader it's completely over, you sure about that?
    19AnonymousSep 21, 2026 08:30
    It's a member-quality issue.
Compared to "Sasaki + Kamiko," "Ise + Hashisako + Dango" is clearly small-fry and lower caliber by any measure — there's no way they can pull in an audience.

Blaming that all on the leader alone is just cruel.
    20AnonymousSep 21, 2026 08:30
Isn't it because she's not the type like Takeuchi or Kamikokuryo who can pull the group along with skill and vocal ability? Since she lacks skill, her "feelings statements" stand out more
In that sense, even Tamenaga as leader would be better than Ise
    22AnonymousSep 21, 2026 08:32
    Re: #20
    Tamenaga's not a skill-driven, can-carry-the-group type either, so it'd be the same
And if you add her lack of popularity on top, she'd be even worse than Ise
    21AnonymousSep 21, 2026 08:31
They're in the middle of the fall tour, so why isn't Tamenaga writing blog posts?
    She's the sub-leader, right?
The gap's already showing right there
    23AnonymousSep 21, 2026 08:32
If she's an outsider, don't just dump the responsibility on her
The members who came up through the group should step up lol
    24AnonymousSep 21, 2026 08:33
Get fired up — Everybody go, everybody go, everybody go! (a chant from a Hello! Project song)
    25AnonymousSep 21, 2026 08:33
If Matsumoto were leader I'd actually want to root for them
    26AnonymousSep 21, 2026 08:34
Making Tamenaga leader is basically the same as making Haga leader, right?
Isn't that a problem? Honestly it's starting to worry me
    27AnonymousSep 21, 2026 08:34
At this rate, they'll probably just bring in new members who already look like they'll be popular from day one
Because Angerme's bad at developing talent
    28AnonymousSep 21, 2026 08:35
You can totally tell who's just scrolling past this topic! ❤️‍🔥
    29AnonymousSep 21, 2026 08:36
They brought in Hirayama, Goto, and Nagano — members who looked like they'd be popular, and they actually are popular within the group — and this is still where things stand
    30AnonymousSep 21, 2026 08:36
Even with Goto and Nagano added it's come to this, so I'm not expecting much
    31AnonymousSep 21, 2026 08:37
I wonder if Tamenaga would've gotten popular if she'd joined Juice=Juice instead
    33AnonymousSep 21, 2026 08:38
She's in a situation where she could've become the ace right away and didn't — isn't the real cause a failed reinforcement (recruiting) strategy?
    35AnonymousSep 21, 2026 08:39
Angerme itself is just not good anymore
    Whether it's Ise or Tamenaga
    Angerme itself is the problem
Though honestly, it was Hashisako who created that whole atmosphere
    36AnonymousSep 21, 2026 08:39
Hashisako's probably lost all motivation by now
Even salarymen, once their resignation's decided, only think about what comes after they quit
    49AnonymousSep 21, 2026 08:50
    Re: #36
She's probably influenced by Kawamura too
    37AnonymousSep 21, 2026 08:40
You'll all be "enjoying" Ise and Tamenaga for at least 3 more years
    38AnonymousSep 21, 2026 08:41
Watching the recent tours, it really feels like Ise and Tamenaga are the cancer here
    41AnonymousSep 21, 2026 08:42
Having only Goto to play off of and highlight Nagano feels thin
Hello! Project keeps saying they don't need an "ace," so nobody stands out and this is the result, isn't it
    42AnonymousSep 21, 2026 08:42
Even members who, before joining Angerme, made people go "They stole the ace! Angerme's so unfair!" end up making people go "huh, is that all?" once they've actually joined

Same as with Tsubaki Factory — there's no skilled senior member above them, so I guess the rookies just don't grow
    51AnonymousSep 21, 2026 08:50
I'm an out-of-the-loop non-fan, but BEYOOOOONDS and OCHA NORMA feel more lively
At least going by what I see on the Ookami board (the Hello! Project fan board)
    67AnonymousSep 21, 2026 09:04
    Re: #51
Honestly I think they're dead last among the current groups
Even Morning Musume is better than that

Background and Key Points of the Discussion

Angerme entered what’s known as the “Ise era” when Suzuran Ise became leader following Moe Kamikokuryo’s graduation. The current tour is built around a core push of Ise, Hashisako, and Dango, but opinions on this setup itself remain divided in the thread. The debate splits roughly into two camps: one questioning the leader’s personal qualities and charisma, and the other pointing out that the mid-tier members’ skill and popularity fall short compared to past eras. Comparisons to former leaders like Ayaka Wada, Akari Takeuchi, and Moe Kamikokuryo came up repeatedly, and there’s a persistent view that whether fans can “get fired up” hinges on having a strong member capable of pulling the group forward. That said, these are ultimately just opinions from a single 5ch thread, not a discussion backed by objective numbers like attendance figures or CD sales — it’s best read as one gauge of fan sentiment.

*This article is compiled and summarized from the 5ch (Hello! Project board) thread “Why can’t I get fired up about Angerme under the Ise regime?“

  • Give ‘Pride, Bright’ a Bigger Stage: Fans Want Hello! Project’s #1 Fan-Voted Song Seen Outside the Fandom

“Pride, Bright” and “Tokyo Blur” are the songs that topped the fan-voted “Hello! Project Song Awards” in 2023 (No. 1) and 2024 (No. 2), respectively. On 5channel’s Hello! Project board, a thread lit up with calls for the two tracks to be performed more often on TV and at outside events. At the same time, some posters pushed back, calling the sound “dated” or saying “the guitar’s too pushy,” splitting opinion on how polished the songs really are and how well they’d land with audiences outside the fandom.

    1AnonymousSep 20, 2026 18:09
Isn't this basically the public's image of "Juice" (i.e., Juice=Juice)?
It's got way more appeal than "Kurakura" anyway.
    2AnonymousSep 20, 2026 18:12
"Tokyo Blur" doesn't need to happen, but I want "Pride, Bright" shown off outside.
    3AnonymousSep 20, 2026 18:14
Nah, other way around — don't need "Pride, Bright" (aka "Pura-Bura").
    4AnonymousSep 20, 2026 18:15
Kinda sick of that stuff already, so nah.
    7AnonymousSep 20, 2026 18:19
    Re: #4
Outside audiences aren't sick of it though.
    5AnonymousSep 20, 2026 18:15
Gotta be "Baba Boon," right? (apparently some kind of fan in-joke)
    6AnonymousSep 20, 2026 18:17
If "Pride, Bright" were by a top artist, it wouldn't be surprising to see it crack the top 50 on the yearly charts.

Forget that, they should do "Date ja Nai yo" (It's Not Just for Show) instead — people would be saying it's a reincarnation of Kanako Oginome.
    10AnonymousSep 20, 2026 18:21
"Date ja Nai yo" has too strong a flavor, newcomers probably wouldn't go near it. You need something mild and modern-stylish first to reel people in a bit.
    11AnonymousSep 20, 2026 18:22
I want the stomping-tantrum dance (jitanda dance) to just wipe the floor with outside audiences.
    12AnonymousSep 20, 2026 18:23
Isn't the public image just "Hito Sore"?
    13AnonymousSep 20, 2026 18:25
"Hito Sore" is, whatever anyone says, a Karin Miyamoto song.
"Pride, Bright," "Blur," and "Look Amazing! Mi Amore" are basically the Danbara-era Juice=Juice trilogy, right?
    14AnonymousSep 20, 2026 18:26
The public image is nothing but the "Mi Amore" girls.
    15AnonymousSep 20, 2026 18:28
The public image is idols flashing their underwear for a photo op, right?
    16AnonymousSep 20, 2026 18:28
"Pride, Bright" is already in the setlist though.
    32AnonymousSep 20, 2026 18:41
    Re: #16
The point is do it on TV.
    19AnonymousSep 20, 2026 18:29
"Tokyo Blur" has stylish sound and lyrics, so it wouldn't be embarrassing to show it off outside — that's nice.
    20AnonymousSep 20, 2026 18:29
"Bitansan" (Mild Sparkle) is great but it's kind of overlooked.
    21AnonymousSep 20, 2026 18:29
Lucky to have so many candidates to choose from.
    22AnonymousSep 20, 2026 18:31
Honestly, "Hito Sore" and "Pride, Bright" lay the strong-woman thing on so thick it gave me heartburn — let's go with "Blur" or "Bitansan" instead.
    24AnonymousSep 20, 2026 18:34
I don't get what's good about "Pride, Bright," same as I don't get Tsunku's songs.
    25AnonymousSep 20, 2026 18:34
For a day like today, I'd say it calls for "Ketsuron kara Itte Chōdai" (Just Give Me the Bottom Line).
    28AnonymousSep 20, 2026 18:39
There are people who say "Pride, Bright" is good, but the sound's dated.
    30AnonymousSep 20, 2026 18:40
The only cool part of "Pride, Bright" is the guitar riff.
That's the peak, and the song just fizzles out after that.
    33AnonymousSep 20, 2026 18:42
    "Blur" has a great beat.
The quiet build before the final chorus is good too.
    35AnonymousSep 20, 2026 18:46
No, I think it's dated too — dated on a whole different level, like some old tea-commercial jingle.
    36AnonymousSep 20, 2026 18:48
    No, it's not dated.
What counts as "dated" is subjective anyway.
    37AnonymousSep 20, 2026 18:50
They do perform "Pride, Bright" outside here and there, but "Tokyo Blur" should get more stage time, right?
    38AnonymousSep 20, 2026 18:50
It's the same as thinking AKB's sound feels dated when you listen to it now.
    39AnonymousSep 20, 2026 18:51
People can't tell the difference between "I'm just used to hearing it" and "it actually sounds old."
    40AnonymousSep 20, 2026 18:54
There is a bit of an old-school Avex vibe to the synth chords — like "Pride (bam!) Bright (bam!)" — but the drums and guitar don't sound dated.
    42AnonymousSep 20, 2026 19:00
    Re: #40
Isn't that sound an orchestra hit?
    41AnonymousSep 20, 2026 18:56
These days, about the only act still making songs with guitar that pushy is B'z.
    43AnonymousSep 20, 2026 19:02
When people say "dated," what era specifically are they picturing?
    59AnonymousSep 20, 2026 19:07
If they performed these two songs on TV, I think a lot of viewers would be blown away.
    61AnonymousSep 20, 2026 19:08
The timeline of music has gotten pretty flat these days anyway.
    65AnonymousSep 20, 2026 19:09
Unless it's a style that was hugely trendy just a bit ago (like Morning Musume's newer songs), it won't really read as "dated."
    68AnonymousSep 20, 2026 19:10
Do "Doriro" (fan shorthand for a song title) and leave first-timers stunned.
    80AnonymousSep 20, 2026 19:23
"Nai Mono Love" actually gets performed more than "Tokyo Blur."

Background and Key Points of This Discussion

The “Hello! Project Song Awards” isn’t an official sales chart — it’s an unofficial annual fan-voted popularity poll, and the yearly rankings quoted in the thread are based on that vote. “Pride, Bright” took the No. 1 spot in the song category in 2023, and “Tokyo Blur” came in at No. 2 in 2024, showing that both songs are genuinely well-regarded among fans. The thread’s real debate, though, is whether that popularity would translate to audiences outside the Hello! Project fanbase — and posters didn’t agree on whether the sound actually comes across as “dated.” It’s worth keeping in mind that perceptions of what sounds “old” are largely subjective, shaped by generation and listening habits, rather than based on any objective standard.

  • Fans call for Persona 1 & 2 remasters, but 5ch says “half of it’s basically a bad game”

A topic buzzed on 5ch’s Livegalileo (general live-commentary) board after reports surfaced that the studio behind the Persona series believes it should remaster or remake the original ‘Persona’ and ‘Persona 2.’ Both games are praised for their scenarios, but their dungeon difficulty and random-encounter systems are frequently blasted as “bad game design,” and posters also pointed out that swapping in new music for the PSP remaster became a real obstacle to further ports. The thread mixed genuine affection for these classics with harsh judgment of their gameplay systems.

Background and Key Points of This Topic

The ‘Persona’ series has been a beloved RPG franchise since the original launched in 1996, and from the third entry onward it settled into its now-signature format combining a calendar-based school-life sim with dungeon exploration. The earlier games, 1 and 2, still carry the hallmarks of old-school RPG design — first-person dungeon crawling, random encounters — and despite being praised for their scenarios, they’ve long been flagged as difficult to actually play. A PSP port was released in the past, but replacing the soundtrack with new music proved controversial and kept it from getting a Steam release the way the later P3P did. Shoji Meguro, who directed those PSP versions, has since left Atlus. The thread shows both anticipation for a possible remaster and real concern over whether old-school elements like random encounters and full restarts after a party wipe would fly with modern gamers — making this less a simple wave of nostalgia and more a grounded debate about feasibility.

  • Juice=Juice’s Kohaku Bid Sparks Debate on X, Splits Opinion on 5ch’s Hello! Project Board

Speculation spread on X that Hello! Project group Juice=Juice might appear on NHK’s year-end Kohaku Uta Gassen (Red and White Song Battle), sparking debate on 5ch’s Hello! Project board as well. Hello! Project hasn’t appeared on Kohaku since the 2007 “Hello! Project 10th Anniversary Kohaku Special Squad,” a 19-year absence. Thread posters clashed over whether Juice=Juice’s streaming numbers and Billboard Japan Hot 100 performance fall short compared to groups that have already appeared on Kohaku — CUTIE STREET, FRUITS ZIPPER, and =LOVE — versus those defending the group based on their songs and music-show track record.

In terms of turnout, they obviously can't touch Nogizaka, let alone =LOVE or FRUITS ZIPPER. Putting them in the same league as those two groups is way too much blind favoritism.

You say "if they can't get in with this, no one can," but their Billboard Japan Hot 100 performance isn't even in that conversation, and their streaming numbers aren't growing either. They do get booked on music shows for their talent and good songs, but back in 2025 CUTIE STREET put up numbers on par with the #1 spot and still didn't make Kohaku — so it's really not "if they can't get in with this, no one can."

Background and Key Points of This Debate

NHK’s Kohaku Uta Gassen airs on New Year’s Eve, and an appearance is considered to carry special significance for any artist. Hello! Project’s last Kohaku appearance was the “10th Anniversary Kohaku Special Squad” in 2007, meaning the group has been absent for 19 years since. The thread’s core divide is between those who argue, based on Juice=Juice’s streaming numbers and Billboard Japan Hot 100 performance, that the group hasn’t yet met the bar, and those who expect an appearance based on the strength of their songs and their track record on music shows. One post claims their spot was “already locked in back in August,” but it’s worth noting this is presented in the unverified-insider-info style typical of 5ch and is not an official announcement. CUTIE STREET and FRUITS ZIPPER also come up as points of comparison — both are themselves relatively newly formed groups, suggesting that the question of who gets to appear on Kohaku is a live debate across the idol industry right now.

  • Taiga Drama “Masterpiece vs. Dud” Debate Rages On: 5ch Users Say “Kiyomori’s Mysterious Low Reputation Makes No Sense”

A thread sorting NHK’s year-long historical “taiga dramas” into “masterpieces” and “duds” went up on 5ch’s Livegalileo (news/variety) board. The original poster (OP — called “itchi” in 5ch slang) filed Shinsengumi!, Atsuhime, Sanada Maru, Reach Beyond the Blue Sky, and The 13 Lords of the Shogun under masterpieces, and Tenchijin, Go, Hana Moyu, and How Do You Like Ieyasu? under duds — but replies pushed back on that sorting almost immediately. Most notably, several posters rated Taira no Kiyomori — which posted the lowest ratings in the show’s 60-plus-year history when it aired — as a “total masterpiece” and even “the best taiga ever.” Meanwhile, opinion on How Do You Like Ieyasu? was split on the lead performance, but many praised the supporting cast, and quite a few pushed back on writing the whole show off as a dud.

Honestly I wanted someone to point out that Kiyomori aired after Go, so of course you'd have watched it — but eh, close enough.
Seriously, Kiyomori's mysterious low reputation makes no sense.

    Background and Talking Points

NHK’s taiga dramas have a history spanning more than 60 years, and it’s a recurring topic that ratings and critical reputation don’t always line up. “Taira no Kiyomori” (2012), repeatedly mentioned in the thread, posted the lowest average ratings in the franchise’s history at the time and was long held up as the poster child for a flop — but in recent years, online opinion has increasingly praised its hard-edged character writing and visual craftsmanship. “Idaten” (2019), likewise known for low ratings, also came up in the thread. “Sweets taiga” (スイーツ大河) is 5ch slang for dramas that foreground romance and interpersonal melodrama, usually used with a slightly critical edge. In this thread too, opinions split depending on whether posters liked or disliked that tendency, though there was broad agreement that ratings numbers alone don’t measure a show’s quality. That said, it’s worth remembering these are individual posters’ personal opinions, not results from any official popularity poll.

*This article is compiled from excerpts and a summary of the 5ch (Livegalileo/”nandemo jikkyo” board) thread “Masterpiece taiga dramas: ‘Shinsengumi, Atsuhime, Sanada Maru, Reach Beyond the Blue Sky, Kamakura-dono’ — Dud taiga dramas: ‘Tenchijin, Go, Hana Moyu, How Do You Like Ieyasu?’.”

  • ‘Moré! Mi Amore’ Went Viral Because of Kudo Yua’s Opening Line — 5ch: ‘Her Batting Average Is Pretty High’

Juice=Juice’s song “Moré! Mi Amore” has been making waves on social media, and on 5ch’s Hello! Project board, opinion after opinion pointed to the same cause: Kudo Yua’s opening line. The phrase she belts out right at the start — which some hear as “Hyore-mi-amore” — is said to leave a strong impression precisely because of its shaky edge. One post even cited a TOKYO FM feature ranking where “Moré! Mi Amore” came in second, right behind Momoiro Clover Z’s “Agehachou.” The thread lit up with talk of how crucial that opening line is, plus hopes of seeing the song performed at Kohaku Uta Gassen (Japan’s year-end song contest).

    1AnonymousSep 20, 2026 19:13
At the end of the day, whether a song goes viral often comes down to the first few seconds.
In that sense, Kudo Yua deserves huge credit for building the doorway into 'Moré Mi.'
    2AnonymousSep 20, 2026 19:16
The opening line matters a ton — so much that people say it's part of why fewer songs these days even bother with an intro.
    3AnonymousSep 20, 2026 19:17
Can't picture anyone but Tako-chan (Kudo Yua's nickname) handling that opening line.
    4AnonymousSep 20, 2026 19:21

Not many songs open with almost no intro and just launch straight into a killer opening line — I think that's smart differentiation.

Apparently Taisei picked the top two finishers of an in-house 'energy contest' for the line — I'd love to hear every member's recorded take on 'Moré! Mi Amore' to judge for myself.

For what it's worth, I'm also a fan of the second 'Moré!' shout — depending on the performance, that one can hit even harder.

    Background and Key Points

“Moré! Mi Amore” is a Juice=Juice song, and its standout feature is the opening line “Hyoremiamore,” sung by Kudo Yua. Note that the TOKYO FM ranking cited in the thread comes from the show’s own original feature, not an official music chart. In evaluating the opening line, most commenters valued its split-second impact over vocal stability, with several posts jokingly comparing how her live performance varies show to show to a ‘gacha’ pull. As for a Kohaku Uta Gassen appearance, those posts are simply wishful thinking — nothing in the thread confirms any lineup or song selection has actually been decided.

  • AEON’s Tuna Label Prints the “China” in “Made in China” Suspiciously Faint — Shoppers Cry Foul

A photo of a tuna pack sold at AEON was posted on the 5ch forum. In the “Made in China” label, only the character for “China” was printed faintly, making it easy to misread as “Domestic” (Made in Japan) at a glance — sparking debate over whether this was a deliberate trick to mislead shoppers. Opinions in the thread were split: some argued it was just an accidental smudge from a dirty print head, while others pointed to the different font as evidence of intentional tampering. The discussion also touched on how tuna origin labeling works in general, and frustration over high prices.

    54AnonymousSep 20, 2026 19:50
They'll probably just claim it was a label printer loading error and dodge it

Background and Key Points of Debate

In Japan, the Food Labeling Act (formerly the JAS Law) requires country-of-origin labeling on fresh food. For fish species like tuna, where farmed and imported products are mixed in with the rest, labels like “Domestic” or “Made in China” directly affect price and purchasing decisions, making legibility of these labels important information for consumers. The thread was split on whether the faint printing of just the “China” character was a deliberate attempt to mislead, or simply a printing glitch. If it were caused by a dirty print head, the whole character should have faded evenly, but as pointed out in reply #60, some commenters noted that the font itself looked different, so no conclusion has been reached. It’s worth noting that this case originated from a single photo posted on social media, and AEON has not issued any explanation or official statement. There have been past controversies about processing imported tuna to make its color look better, but that is a separate issue from this labeling mistake, and the two should not be confused.

  • Video of Crab Being Cruelly Cooked Sparks Controversy — ‘Does It Feel Pain?’ Debate Spirals Into a Whaling Row

A video posted to 5ch’s “Everything Live” board showing a crab being cooked in a brutal way drew a wave of reactions. Viewers were stunned that the crab kept moving even after being cut apart, with comments like “isn’t this thing way too tough to kill?” The conversation soon turned to Japan’s food culture of cooking seafood alive, such as ikizukuri (live sashimi preparation). From there, discussion spiraled into questions about whether crustaceans can feel pain or fear, and a fierce debate over the ethics of eating whale meat — ending without any consensus.

Exactly this. Same with fishing — felt bad for them at first, but now I just casually cut off the head, toss the guts, and take it home

Background and Key Points of This Debate

The whale-meat controversy is a topic that keeps resurfacing online ever since Japan withdrew from the International Whaling Commission (IWC) in 2019 and resumed commercial whaling; the question of whether the line should be drawn based on intelligence once again ended without resolution this time. As for crustacean pain, the UK legally recognized decapods (such as lobsters and crabs) and cephalopods (octopuses and squid) as “sentient beings” in 2021 — the thread comment calling it “a pointless law” appears to be referring to this. Note that some posts in the thread flatly claimed that Chinese and Korean food culture “tastes better the more you torture the animal,” naming those countries directly, but since these are unsourced claims, they have been excluded from this article. In any case, whether crustaceans even have the nervous system needed to feel pain remains disputed among researchers, so it’s no surprise the thread never reached a conclusion.

  • Why Hello! Project’s Sunday night shows aren’t selling out like they used to: ‘Because you can’t get home’

On a 5ch thread where Hello! Project concertgoers gather, discussion turned to why tickets for Sunday night shows aren’t selling out the way they used to. Many pointed to a growing number of fans avoiding overnight stays because it would interfere with work the next day, along with earlier last trains on the Shinkansen and rising hotel and transportation costs for those traveling to shows. Others noted that stricter identity checks aimed at curbing ticket scalping have broken the old strategy of cheaply securing both a matinee and evening ticket as a set, revealing a structural shift that can’t simply be chalked up to fans “falling out of love” with the group.

Hello! Project used to force its way through regional tours, but it was really just the same fans from the Tokyo area traveling out to see them. Now those fans are shifting into retirement, or the Ice Age generation (Japan's "lost generation" that struggled to find stable jobs) has become the core demographic, so they can't push themselves like before. Female fans especially only show up for shows close to home or at Budokan.

And even that's only true for places that actually have a Shinkansen station.
    121AnonymousSep 20, 2026 19:41
If the night show started at like 4pm, you could probably get home just fine even after traveling out.

    Re: #121
Then the matinee would have to start too early and people couldn't make it. A 5pm start is just about right.
    122AnonymousSep 20, 2026 19:41
You'd normally book a hotel to hold before you even find out if you won the ticket lottery, right?

    Re: #122
For a 1,500-capacity regional venue you can reach by Shinkansen, there's no need to do that. I've never booked ahead of time for one of those.

    Background and Key Points

Several institutional and social shifts have combined to make Sunday night shows harder to sell out. The Ticket Resale Prohibition Act, which came into full effect in 2019, tightened identity verification and made it much harder to cheaply pick up leftover tickets and attend both a matinee and an evening show back to back, as fans used to do. In addition, Shinkansen last trains have increasingly been moved to earlier times in recent years to allow time for track maintenance work, narrowing the range of destinations fans can day-trip to and from. Hotel prices have also risen due to inbound tourism demand and inflation, raising the barrier to traveling for shows in general.

Within the thread, opinions were split between those who see this as a matter of fan demographics aging and retiring, straining stamina and finances, and those who see it as a problem with how organizers schedule the start and end times of shows. Both are likely contributing factors — the reality is probably a combination of several causes rather than something explainable by just one.

  • Tsubaki Factory’s Otsuki Nishimura Stuns With New Hairstyle — 5ch: ‘She Totally Leveled Up Overnight’

On 5ch’s Hello! Project board, a thread lit up over Tsubaki Factory’s Otsuki Nishimura (nicknamed “Itsuking”) completely transforming her image with a new hairstyle and styling. The thread filled with reactions of shock and admiration like “She totally leveled up overnight” and “Her face is just too small,” with comparison photos against other members getting posted one after another. At the same time, some posters weren’t fully convinced by the sudden shift in opinion, grumbling that “it’s weird to suddenly call her cute now,” so opinions were split, and speculation flew about a possible member-color change following Akiyama’s graduation from the group.

Background and key points of this discussion

Tsubaki Factory is an idol group under the Hello! Project umbrella, and Otsuki Nishimura (“Itsuking”) is one of its members. Phrases that circulated in the thread, like “she totally leveled up overnight” and “the second coming of Yukarin,” are the kind of comparisons Hello! Project fans often reach for, measuring a member against a beloved senior idol from the past. On the other hand, the pushback of “it’s weird to suddenly call her cute now” is a familiar “flip-flopping” criticism that tends to surface whenever a member’s reputation suddenly rises — a friction that’s fairly common on idol fan boards. It’s worth noting that the back-and-forth in the thread is just an exchange among some anonymous board posters, and shouldn’t be taken as representing the views of the group as a whole or of the member herself. Likewise, the speculation about a member-color change is nothing more than guesswork ahead of any official announcement.
