  • Former Last Idol Center Nanami Abe Announces Retirement from Entertainment Industry

Nanami Abe, who once served as the center of idol group Last Idol, has announced her retirement from the entertainment industry. Following the announcement on the official site of her talent agency, Full Course, Japan’s 5channel Hello! Project board lit up with posts looking back on her career. She began her idol career at age 3, performing under a string of names — “Ichigo Rex,” “rex,” “mImi,” and “Pax Puella” — before becoming the center of Last Idol in 2017. She later re-debuted with Full Course, a group under the Heroines label. Posters also brought up the anecdote that her parents were Hello! Project fans who named her after Natsumi Abe, with many lamenting that she never actually joined Hello! Project itself.

    Heroines.
The lineup was really solid and expectations were high, but once it actually launched it struggled way more than the hype suggested.

She was even unveiled at Heroines Fest at LaLa Arena, their biggest event yet
She's in the same group as Mizukami, a former HKT48 member who got eliminated from Produce 101 Japan
Guess she's realized she's never going to break through

Heroines is at the point where members quitting abruptly probably outnumber proper graduations, so honestly just graduating cleanly already puts her ahead

Guess she figured she'd sell better under an Akimoto Yasushi production

Background and Key Points of This Discussion

Abe began her idol career in 2005 at age 3, moving through a string of groups and stage names — “Ichigo Rex,” “rex,” and “mImi” (later renamed “Pax Puella”) — before becoming the center of “Last Idol” in 2017. After leaving that group, she re-debuted with “Full Course,” a new group under the idol production collective Heroines. Heroines is an agency that has launched more than 30 groups in a short span, and some posters in the thread noted that her name recognition and scale of activity never quite lived up to the early hype. The anecdote that her parents were Morning Musume fans who named her after Natsumi Abe also drew attention, though it’s worth clarifying this is only the origin of her name — it does not mean she was ever actually a member of Hello! Project.

  • Why So Many Hello! Project Members Are Pacific League Baseball Fans: 5ch Says ‘Because the Stadiums Are Cleaner’

A thread on 5ch’s “Morning Coffee” board (a Hello! Project fan board) went viral over the observation that many Hello! Project members are fans of Pacific League baseball teams. While some Central League fans were named too — like Tamenaga (Hanshin Tigers) or Dambara and Hiromoto (Hiroshima Carp) — commenters singled out die-hard fans of several other teams, such as Otsubo (Yokohama) and Hattori (Chunichi), citing the newer stadiums and different overall image as reasons. Someone also pointed out that there don’t seem to be any Yakult Swallows fans at all, and the discussion expanded into how fandom varies from team to team.

    Chunichi's got the trainee Hattori

Background and Key Points of the Discussion

“Morning Coffee” is a fan board for Hello! Project (an idol group umbrella that includes Morning Musume ‘. and several other units), and the names that came up in the thread — Tamenaga, Dambara, Hiromoto, Rikako, and Koseki — refer to members and trainees from its various units. In recent years Pacific League home stadiums (such as Belluna Dome and PayPay Dome) have gone through renovations, and the idea that they’re newer and cleaner than the Central League’s more traditional ballparks is a theory often floated among baseball fans, with this thread being just the latest iteration of it. At the same time, some pointed out that Yakult Swallows fans seem to be entirely absent, while others suggested that fandom can be shaped by which team a person’s parents supported, leaving it an open question whether this is simply individual taste or a generational trend driven by stadium image. It’s worth noting, though, that this is all based on impressions and anecdotes gathered from an anonymous message board, not an official tally from the idols’ talent agency.

※This article is compiled and summarized from the 5ch (Hello! Project) thread “Why are Hello! Project members all Pacific League baseball otaku?“

Background and Key Points of This Topic

In Hello! Project groups, it’s customary for members to release a “first photo book” upon reaching a milestone age, and fans tend to pay close attention to how bold the locations and outfits turn out to be. The word “kakugo” (commitment/resolve), used repeatedly in the thread, is fan slang referring to whether a member has taken on more revealing shots — it is not an official term of评价. There were also many posts comparing this book to those of other members or other groups, but it’s worth noting these are just subjective impressions on a message board, not verified sales figures or confirmed page content. The detail that the release date was matched to her parents’ wedding anniversary is a fact revealed by Nishizaki herself on her blog, and the thread response to this was largely warm and positive.

  • Trainees’ “Senpai I Admire” Tally Leaves Tsubaki Factory with Zero — 5ch: “Tsubaki got zero, huh”

In an interview in the fall 2026 issue of CDJ magazine, Hello! Project trainees named the “senpai they admire,” and when thread posters tallied up the answers, Juice=Juice came out on top with 8 mentions — while Tsubaki Factory got zero votes from any trainee. The 5ch thread opened with a reminder that “the senpai you admire” and “the senpai you actually like” aren’t the same thing, then moved on to why Hattori Runa named Sato Masaki, and speculation over why Tsubaki Factory got shut out entirely. Talk also branched into predictions about the group’s future pecking order, factoring in members expected to graduate.

    Background and Talking Points

The source material is an interview in the fall 2026 issue of CDJ magazine, where each Hello! Project trainee named the “senpai they admire” — thread posters then apparently re-tallied those individual answers themselves. Worth noting: the “Juice=Juice: 8” and “Tsubaki Factory: 0” figures aren’t from an official poll — they’re an unofficial fan count of which names came up in the magazine. Early in the thread, someone pointed out that “the senpai you admire” and “the senpai you actually like” are two different things, and some argued it’s premature to judge groups purely by raw vote counts. As for Tsubaki Factory, the group has seen a string of member graduations that’s thinned its roster, and some posters are simply waiting to see how the lineup shifts going forward. Meanwhile, posts about specific members’ popularity or a leader’s qualifications are hard to verify and often amount to little more than speculation.

  • From ‘Ash to Diamond Is Great’ to ‘RED LINE Is Great’ — Identical Phrasing Sparks Stealth-Marketing Suspicions

Following a post praising Juice=Juice’s “Ash to Diamond” (Hai to Diamond), posts using the exact same wording began appearing on X pushing ANGERME’s new song “RED LINE,” prompting suspicions on 5ch’s Hello! Project board that something was being orchestrated. The thread also buzzed over the fact that ANGERME’s official Instagram featured the post in its Stories, with some users suggesting the account was riding along with the stealth-marketing narrative, and others pointing to the unnatural spike in view counts specifically during late-night hours. Others, however, argued it was simply coincidence or fans enthusiastically spreading the word, leaving opinions divided.

It's just unusual that Juice=Juice nailed it on the first try — Hello! Project never settling on which group to push is business as usual.

Background and Key Points of This Discussion

Both “Ash to Diamond” (Juice=Juice) and “RED LINE” (ANGERME) are Hello! Project songs released in 2026, and both share the same pattern: a post praising their MV on X kicked off a rise in view counts. What split the thread was a single question — is this coincidental, fan-driven spread, or organized promotion (so-called stealth marketing) involving the agency or an outside contractor? Grounds cited for suspecting the latter include view counts spiking specifically during late-night hours, and the fact that identical wording used to praise one group’s MV was recycled for another’s — but both points remain speculation on an anonymous forum, and neither the agency nor the distributor has acknowledged any involvement. It’s also worth noting that Juice=Juice producing results without a single member leaving in roughly two and a half years is being framed as a contrast with other groups that cycle through graduations and new additions — but that, too, is only one factor behind sales and view counts, not conclusive proof of superiority.

※This article is compiled as excerpts and a summary of the 5ch (Hello! Project board) thread “The person who started saying ‘Ash to Diamond is great’ on X is now saying ‘ANGERME’s RED LINE is great’ — is Hello! Project being played around with?.”

  • 5ch Piles on Juice=Juice’s Future Predictions: ‘Talk to Us Once It Actually Happens’

In a Hello! Project thread, a pattern kept repeating: whenever someone predicted Juice=Juice’s future, other posters fired back with “no, say that once it actually happens.” It started with wishful thinking like “I bet they’ll still be buzzing next year,” which prompted pushback from posters armed with tables comparing member tenure and data on Morning Musume’s popularity trends. The debate went beyond simple ribbing, splitting opinion over whether it’s fair to map Morning Musume’s slump around 2017 onto Juice=Juice’s current standing — with some replies even citing tour ticket sales figures as evidence.

    1AnonymousSep 18, 2026 11:15

    2AnonymousSep 18, 2026 11:20

Background and Key Points of This Discussion

Juice=Juice is a Hello! Project group whose popularity has been climbing in recent years — as the thread’s tenure chart shows, its core is built around members like Danbara Ruru and Inoue Reon, who’ve now been in the group for six to nine years. The comparison group, Morning Musume, went through a stretch around 2017 when it had been “on a steady decline ever since Wonfour,” before clawing back its audience numbers, helped along by the boost from Kudo Haruka’s graduation. The fact that 2027 marks Hello! Project’s 30th anniversary was also raised as a reason to expect fewer departures or graduations around that time.

Where the thread split was over whether it’s fair to simply map Morning Musume’s slump onto Juice=Juice’s current situation. One camp argued that “Morning Musume back then and Juice=Juice now are in totally different positions,” while the other took the more pessimistic view that “they’ll eventually walk the same path.” “Say that once it actually happens” is a classic 5ch comeback aimed at baseless predictions about the future — less mockery, more a pointed reminder that “the prophecy hasn’t come true yet.” Some posts backed their claims with hard numbers like tour ticket sales, which is worth flagging for readers, since it’s easy for opinion and fact to blur together in threads like this.

  • Even Angerme’s Hashisako Graduation News Gets No Reaction From Haters — 5ch: ‘At Least Bash Us a Little’

A thread about Angerme popped up on 5ch’s Hello! Project board. Despite the announcement that Hashisako Kurumi is graduating, even the haters showed barely any reaction, and the group’s own lack of buzz became the real talking point instead. Opinions in the thread were split — some worried that Hashisako’s graduation would strip the group of its identity, while others argued the impact would be limited. Discussion also touched on how new members should be brought in and the popularity gap with other Hello! Project groups.

The agency's probably actually thinking that for real.

Background and Key Points of This Discussion

Angerme is a long-running group under Hello! Project, and in recent years fans have observed that ‘instant-asset’ new members tend to get funneled toward Juice=Juice. It’s worth noting that labels like ‘instant asset’ and ‘worth developing’ tossed around in the thread aren’t based on any official announcement — they’re just individual posters’ impressions. Also, the line ‘the opposite of love is indifference’ is a well-worn saying in idol fan circles, used to argue that even criticism is proof of passion; this thread flips that logic on its head, mixing self-deprecating jabs with taunts along the lines of ‘not even the haters care anymore.’ Opinions on Hashisako Kurumi’s graduation were far from unanimous — some worried the group would lose its identity, while others argued the impact would be limited. Comments about members’ health or the agency’s intentions remain pure speculation on the posters’ part, and should be read with that in mind.

  • Juice=Juice’s New Song Dance Shot Hits 140K Views — 5ch Erupts Over ‘Rigged Numbers’ Claims

Juice=Juice’s new song “BLOODY BULLET” Dance Shot Ver. racked up 140,000 views shortly after release, becoming a hot topic on 5ch’s Hello! Project board. Since around August 27, 2026, YouTube is said to have changed its view-count criteria from “counts as one view after 30 seconds of playback” to “counts as one view the instant the video is opened,” and many posters pointed to this spec change as a factor behind the surge. While the thread buzzed with view-count comparisons against other groups like ANGERME and BEYOOOOONDS, some voiced suspicion that the rapid growth was “staged,” sparking a cross-group fan feud.

Does a Dance Shot video really rack up views like this?

    Re: #71
    So what IS trustworthy, then?

Background and Key Points of the Debate

YouTube reportedly changed its view-count methodology around August 27, 2026, switching to a system that counts a view the instant a video is opened. Previously, a view was only counted after at least 30 seconds of playback, meaning videos posted after the change may see view counts climb faster for the same amount of actual viewing. The thread was full of sarcastic remarks like “so this is what happens when you’ve got an agency backing you,” along with view-count comparisons against other groups, but no official information has confirmed whether the sudden surge stems from deliberate inflation or simply the counting-method change — it remains speculation confined to an anonymous message board. It’s also worth noting that Hello! Project runs multiple groups under the same management, a structure that frequently invites comparisons of view counts and dance-video plays as a yardstick for popularity between groups.

    Background and Talking Points

Panda Dragon is a popular creator who posts numerous dance videos on TikTok and Instagram, and collaborating with idols to boost visibility has become a common tactic in and around the idol industry in recent years. Exactly what kind of event “#PomFes,” which sparked this collaboration, actually was isn’t spelled out in the thread — posters could only guess it was some sort of gathering bringing together multiple performers. It’s also worth noting that the ranking cited in the thread — the video coming in around 13th by view count — is just an unofficial observation made independently by a fan, not a figure officially announced by anyone. While plenty of commenters were happy to see the video take off, reactions weren’t uniform, with the discussion also touching on whether it’s fair for collaborations to concentrate on certain members, and drifting into comparisons of popularity with members of other groups.

A thread was started on 5ch’s Hello! Nominations ranged from baffling insider jokes like “Gatling Zero” and “Nakayamanjaro,” to the incident where Hana Gotou’s teaser for a graduation announcement was overshadowed when Rin Hashisako’s own graduation was announced the very next day, to the graduation announcements of Morning Musume.’s Makino and Oda. At the same time, some posters complained that “nothing really happened this year, so it’s kind of boring,” while others lamented the rampant use of “ankasu” — slang for posts that stir up conflict — making for a thread that mixed genuine excitement with a sense of stagnation.

    Background and Talking Points

The real-world “Buzzword Awards” (the U-CAN New Word/Buzzword Awards) is typically announced at year’s end, so this nomination thread in September is a yearly tradition within the Hello! Project fan community — a kind of early preview event. Opinions in the thread were split between those who felt “not much happened this year” and those who pointed to the rampant use of “ankasu,” a slang term for posters who stir up conflict, as the defining feature of the year — the latter being 5ch-specific insider jargon that’s hard for general readers to follow. The thread also brought up how Rin Hashisako’s graduation was announced the day after Hana Gotou teased an announcement of her own, as well as the graduation announcements of several Morning Musume. members, though the posts alone don’t clarify the official timing or background of each announcement. It’s worth noting that most of the nominations consist of specific memes and insider references, many of which would be hard for a first-time reader to parse.
