  • Keiji Muto’s Uber Eats Driver Turns Out to Be a Former Wrestling Colleague — 5ch Reacts: ‘Who’d Have Thought One Would Be Ordering and the Other Delivering’

Pro wrestler Keiji Muto (63) revealed on X that when he ordered Uber Eats to his home, the delivery driver turned out to be Ryuichi Takaiwa, a former colleague from his New Japan Pro-Wrestling days. The two men, who once battled each other in the same ring, were reunited in the roles of “customer” and “delivery driver” — and the story became a springboard on 5ch for a wider discussion about the gap in post-retirement living standards among pro wrestlers. The thread ranged widely, from claims that All Japan Pro-Wrestling alumni are well looked after thanks to a solid pension system, to accounts of wrestlers whose lives were upended by New Japan’s pay reforms.

Keiji Muto ordered Uber Eats — and the delivery driver was… a familiar face from his New Japan days

turns out they actually paid proper pensions, and All Japan under Baba was the only promotion where wrestlers got a decent pension.
All those guys who complained ended up singing its praises later.

Feels like for the generation after the Four Pillars and the Three Musketeers (famous wrestling eras), the gap between the ones in All Japan and New Japan who came out fine and the ones who ended up in rough shape is way too extreme.

When New Japan switched presidents after Fujinami, they slashed wrestler pay as a restructuring move.
Guys like Hiro Saito got offered something like 3 million yen a year, and most of them quit.
Nagata, Tenzan, and Iizuka got knocked down to around 6 million yen a year but stuck around — and the gap between the ones who stayed and the ones who left ended up like night and day.

I've been watching Tenzan's retirement videos these past few days — first time I've watched wrestling in about 20 years, and his retirement match had me in tears. Sounds like he's staying on at New Japan to do commentary and such. He said it's base salary plus commission.

Background and Key Points of This Story

New Japan Pro-Wrestling overhauled wrestler salaries around 2012 amid a change in management, and the thread’s mention of pay being “cut to around 6 million yen a year” likely refers to that period’s restructuring. All Japan Pro-Wrestling, meanwhile, is said to have set up a pension system for its wrestlers under founder Motoko Baba, and the two promotions are frequently compared over the gap in post-retirement living standards. That said, the specific salary figures cited in the thread and the living conditions described via the “Nagata Channel” are based solely on anonymous hearsay and remarks made in videos, not officially confirmed numbers — so some caution is warranted. Muto and Takaiwa both came up through New Japan Pro-Wrestling, but their paths after retirement diverged sharply, and this episode has thrown that contrast into sharp relief. Note: some posts in the thread contained discriminatory remarks about the delivery driver’s background; those have been excluded from this article.

On 5ch’s Geinou Supo Sokuhou+ thread, the discussion kicked off with jabs at the photo’s backlighting, moved on to guesses about her height (estimated at 158cm) and opinions on her styling, and eventually wandered into a tangent naming Kanna Hashimoto and Mana Ashida as “candidates for the next generation of stars.”

If her upcoming film 'Thou, Like a Star,' due out soon, flops, it might be over for her

    Background and talking points

This post from Suzu Hirose wasn’t an official announcement from her agency or a brand — it came straight from her own Instagram, and the accompanying “Louis Vuitton” tag appears to reflect her endorsement deal with the brand. In the thread, the figure of 158cm was floated as “about the average height for a Japanese woman,” but this isn’t a number she has publicly confirmed — it’s merely a guess based on circumstantial information. Some posts also speculated about ties to soccer or basketball players based on past dating reports, but these are purely 5ch speculation, with no official statement from Hirose or her agency. The discussion also drifted away from her photos entirely, veering into a tangent naming Kanna Hashimoto, Mana Ashida, Ami Touma, and Natsuki Deguchi as “candidates for the next generation of stars.” This kind of free-association tangent is common on matome (aggregator) threads, and readers should keep in mind it has little direct connection to the main topic.

*This article is compiled as an excerpt and summary of the 5ch (Geinou Supo Sokuhou+) thread “[Entertainment] Suzu Hirose shares off-duty shots from Paris — miniskirt look draws reactions like “so fresh, super cute” and “seriously stylish”.”

  • ‘VIVANT’ Returns After 3-Week Break to a Wave of Complaints — Torture Scene and Stalled Plot Leave Viewers Uneasy

Episode 19 of TBS’s Sunday Theater drama “VIVANT” aired on October 4 after a three-week hiatus for Asian Games coverage. The household rating rose 0.4 points from the previous episode to 15.4%, but on 5channel’s “Geinou/Sports News+” board (芸スポ速報+, an entertainment-and-sports-news discussion board), threads lit up with complaints that the episode’s torture scene “isn’t what you want on a Sunday night,” while others cried “trailer fraud” after the rescue operation teased in the preview failed to materialize on screen. Still, some pushed back — “holding back that much was them being considerate,” “they could’ve leaned even more violent” — splitting the thread between two running debates: how graphic the depiction should be, and how slowly the story is moving.

The torture scene depicted in Episode 19 of TBS’s Sunday Theater drama “VIVANT,” which aired on the 4th, has become a point of controversy among viewers.

Episode 19 marked the show’s return after a broadcast hiatus for the Asian Games — its first new episode in three weeks. The average household rating came in at 15.4% (Video Research, Kanto region; figures throughout refer to this measure), up 0.4 points from Episode 18.

    127AnonymousOct 6, 2026 22:02
    Re: #8
Exactly — in real torture you don't actually cut fingers off, that just reduces the number of pain receptors available. You start by driving needles under the fingernails, then move on to the toes. Fixing someone's head in place and letting water drip onto their eyeball is also effective psychologically, since they can't even pass out to escape it.
    9AnonymousOct 6, 2026 21:17
That's the complaint? Not 'the rescue operation isn't going anywhere!'?
    10AnonymousOct 6, 2026 21:17

The preview footage showed them storming in, but none of that happened at all — the plot had barely moved even before the two-week break, and now we're still just getting to the raid? If this were '24,' they'd have already pulled off the rescue before the Asian Games break, then come back from the hiatus straight into a fight over the Purisha (プリシャ, a fictional resource/plot device in the show) and a final showdown with Shinshi — that's the pace this show should have.

Personally, I don't think violent scenes are inherently a bad thing. If it's the hero's side cutting loose and coming out on top, that's actually satisfying to watch. But this episode was just one ally after another getting worn down and torn apart, over and over — it's pure stress and pure gore with nothing else to it. The Sunday Theater slot could stand to be a bit simpler than this.

    Background and key debates

“VIVANT” is a sequel series to the TBS Sunday Theater drama that aired in 2023 to high ratings; the episode discussed here, Episode 19, aired after a three-week hiatus for Asian Games coverage. The 15.4% household rating was up 0.4 points from the previous episode, suggesting viewer interest held up through the break. The thread split along two lines. One was the intensity of the torture depiction: some felt it “isn’t what you want in the Sunday-night slot,” while others countered it was restrained compared to overseas shows like “24.” The other was the show’s slow pacing — viewers were frustrated that the rescue-operation footage teased in the preview never showed up in the actual episode, branding it “trailer fraud,” while others speculated the show was being stretched out ahead of a planned film. Commenters also compared the scene to real-world torture methods and referenced Mexican cartel violence, but these were offered as reference points for gauging the show’s realism rather than claims about any specific incident or person.

  • JOYSOUND Adds All 47 Juice=Juice Music Videos Ever Made — 5ch: “Time to Rediscover the Original Five”

It became a hot topic on 5ch’s Hello! Project board that JOYSOUND’s “Official Music Video All-You-Can-Watch” service had added all 47 music videos from Juice=Juice’s history. With footage now available spanning everything from the original debut lineup to the current members, longtime fans welcomed the move, saying “the time has come to rediscover the original five,” while others worried that newer fans who only know the current lineup might end up confused, thinking “wait, who’s this?” The thread’s main points centered on nostalgia from veteran fans, alongside questions about how the karaoke playback actually works (whether vocals are included or it’s instrumental-only, and whether lyrics are displayed).

New fans only like the current Juice=Juice lineup, so if you play the MV for "Ijidaki" (fan nickname for a Juice=Juice song), a bunch of unfamiliar faces show up and they'll be confused, like "Huh? Where's Danbara-san? Where's Nia-chan?"

Background and Key Points of This Topic

JOYSOUND’s “Official Music Video All-You-Can-Watch” is a paid service that lets users watch past music videos directly on the karaoke machine, and this time 47 Juice=Juice songs were added to it. Juice=Juice is a group that has gone through numerous lineup changes since its 2013 debut, and the look and dance style of the original members differ quite a bit from the current lineup. What split opinion in the thread was the gap between longtime fans feeling nostalgic and newer fans thrown off by seeing unfamiliar faces — neither side meant any real malice, and the whole thing was treated as a lighthearted generational gap. One point that’s easy to misunderstand: this service likely just plays the MVs as-is, without lyric display or an instrumental-only option, and several posters in the thread pointed out that “the vocals stay in” and “no lyrics show up.” For readers unfamiliar with how the service works, it’s worth noting that playing this at a karaoke venue ends up feeling closer to just watching regular background music than an actual sing-along.

  • ‘Rakuten Drive’ Hacked: Data From 15,000 Accounts Possibly Exposed

A report from ITmedia has revealed that unauthorized access occurred on Rakuten Drive, the e-commerce giant’s cloud storage service, potentially exposing data from around 15,000 accounts to viewing or theft. On 5ch, users pointed to the service’s free 50GB tier as the reason many sign up in the first place, while others argued that “no cloud service is truly impenetrable,” citing past celebrity photo leak incidents, and voiced concern about possible knock-on effects for related services like Rakuten Bank. Some speculated that AI might be involved in the cause of the breach, though this remains unconfirmed.

Background and Key Points of This Topic

Rakuten Drive is a cloud storage service operated by Rakuten, and according to ITmedia’s report, this unauthorized access may have exposed data from roughly 15,000 accounts, including stored files. In the thread, when users questioned why anyone would use it when Google Drive and OneDrive already exist, the free 50GB storage tier was cited as the main draw. Some also pointed to the 2014 celebrity iCloud photo leak as a reminder that cloud data has never been completely safe. That said, neither the article nor the thread establishes the cause or method behind the breach, and speculation that “AI might be involved” remains an unsubstantiated opinion at this stage. One point worth flagging for readers: neither source actually explains how this incident might directly affect other Rakuten services like Rakuten Bank — the concerns voiced in the thread are purely user speculation.

  • Ryutaro Hazuki’s Dance Livestream After ‘Zombie Cigarette’ Conviction Sparks Controversy — 5ch: ‘I’d Dance My Ass Off Too’

Ryutaro Hazuki (26), who left the Hiroshima Toyo Carp after being convicted of using the designated drug “zombie cigarettes,” has been drawing attention as a popular TikTok livestreamer — and his latest stream, in which he turned his tatami room into a makeshift club and danced wildly, became a hot topic. The timing was awkward: it came right after news broke of disciplinary action against four former teammates implicated in the same drug scandal. On 5ch, criticism (“this stream isn’t okay”) clashed with defenders (“what’s wrong with dancing in his own room?”). Part of the backlash stems from the fact that Hazuki was caught and convicted after a family member reported him, while the other four were never formally charged — leaving some with the impression that he effectively sold out his friends.

While his former Hiroshima Toyo Carp teammates reel from being cut from the roster, Ryutaro Hazuki (26) is thriving as a popular TikTok livestreamer…

    Re: #81
This guy got busted after his family reported him and the actual drugs were found.
Whether the other guys kept using even after it was banned is unclear.

    Background and Points of Contention

“Zombie cigarettes” are synthetic designer drugs whose chemical makeup changes frequently, and both possession and use are regulated as a designated substance. Hazuki was caught and convicted after being reported by his own family, while the four former teammates whose names also came up were never formally charged — they simply left the team after being cut from the roster. That gap in how severely each was treated is the main point of contention in the thread. Supporters argue that the dance livestream itself is a perfectly legal activity and that dancing alone in his own room is his business, while critics point to the fact that Hazuki’s case effectively exposed his teammates’ names, and react to that on an emotional level. There’s no evidence he was under any influence during the stream, so comments suggesting he’s “still feeling the drug’s effects” remain pure speculation.

*This article was compiled from excerpts and a summary of the 5ch (Entertainment & Sports News+) thread “[“This stream isn’t okay”] Ryutaro Hazuki stirs controversy with “dance livestream” after four players implicated in zombie-cigarette scandal are let go — turns tatami room into a club and dances wildly [Ailuropoda melanoleuca★].”

  • Backlash Hits Ametalk’s ‘Comedians Who Don’t Want to Dance’ Segment — 5ch Buzzes With Calls for Miyasako’s Comeback

Shueisha Online reports that the September 27 broadcast of ‘Ametalk!’ (TV Asahi) featured its popular segment ‘Comedians Who Don’t Want to Dance,’ and the ‘intense performance’ by Tatsuya Mishima of the duo Suehirogari drew a wave of social-media criticism — comments like ‘so forced’ and ‘a contest for weirdest moves.’ In the 5ch reaction thread that followed, the criticism didn’t stay focused on Mishima alone; it spilled into a broader argument that the whole show ‘just isn’t funny anymore.’ Plenty of posters voiced nostalgia for the show’s energy back when Hiroyuki Miyasako was a cast member, while others argued the format itself — comedians riffing on a single theme — has simply run its course. The thread ended up a mix of criticism and defense.

    Shueisha Online, Oct 6

“I can’t stand the forced episodes of Ametalk,” “It’s too contrived to watch,” “The humor is supposed to come from genuinely trying and being bad at it — this is just a weird-moves pageant,” “Even by Ametalk standards, that’s too much.”

Harsh comments like these piled up on social media following the September 27 broadcast of the popular ‘Comedians Who Don’t Want to Dance’ segment on ‘Ametalk!’ (TV Asahi). Drawing the most criticism was Tatsuya Mishima of the comedy duo Suehirogari.

Nobody's asking for realism — the point is that the end result just isn't funny.

    Background and Points of Discussion

‘Ametalk!’ is a long-running talk show that began airing in 2003, and its popularity has been built on segments devoted to a single theme, like ‘Comedians With Bad Athletic Ability’ or ‘Home Appliance-Loving Comedians.’ After years of repeating the same format, the complaint that ‘they’ve already used up every pattern’ has circulated for some time, and the current backlash over ‘Comedians Who Don’t Want to Dance’ is an extension of that. Reactions in the thread weren’t unanimous — judgments of Tatsuya Mishima’s individual performance mixed with critiques of the show’s format itself, and a fair number of posts defended him, arguing it’s unfortunate that genuine effort gets dismissed as ‘fake.’ So it wasn’t pure criticism across the board. It’s also worth noting, for readers unfamiliar with the background, that Hiroyuki Miyasako left the show following his 2019 undisclosed-event scandal — which is why the thread saw so much nostalgia for the show’s energy during his time on it, a detail that might otherwise seem to come out of nowhere.

  • HIKAKIN’s “Corn Tea” Sells 1.3 Million Units in 2 Days — 5ch: “That’s Shipment Numbers, Not Sales”

It’s been reported that corn tea from “ONICHA,” the original brand helmed by HIKAKIN, sold 1.3 million units in the two days following its October 3 launch. Made with sweet corn grown in Hokkaido, the product is an extension of the “ONICHA” soft drink line that launched in April. On 5ch, reactions to the taste were mixed — “not bad” versus “too strong a corn flavor” — but what really drew attention was skepticism about the 1.3-million figure itself, with many posters arguing that the piles of product stacked next to convenience store registers suggest these are shipment numbers rather than actual sales. The discussion also drew comparisons to HIKAKIN’s previous hit product, “Misokin.”

    Tue, 10/6, 16:10

YouTuber HIKAKIN announced that sales of his original product “ONICHA Corn Tea,” launched on October 3, surpassed 1.3 million units in just two days.

The product is a corn tea made with 100% Hokkaido-grown sweet corn, rolled out as a variation of the “ONICHA” soft drink launched in April.

    34AnonymousOct 6, 2026 16:36

    35AnonymousOct 6, 2026 16:36

    53AnonymousOct 6, 2026 16:57
7-Eleven's Misokin was piled up in front of the register too — so that's what this is, huh lol

Background and Key Points of This Discussion

The 1.3-million figure was announced as “units sold,” but several posters in the thread pointed out that, given how the product is stacked up right next to convenience store registers, the real number might actually be “units shipped.” Some noted that convenience stores are often required to order items designated by headquarters regardless of actual store-level demand, which may be contributing to the mass displays and the climbing figures. HIKAKIN’s original products have a track record of hits, with “Misokin” being a past success, and this new “ONICHA” line is seen as an extension of that trend. Meanwhile, opinions on the taste are split between “the corn flavor is too strong” and “it’s delicious,” and a notable feature of this discussion is the coexistence of views crediting the product’s success to HIKAKIN’s fame and buzz versus those judging the quality of the product on its own merits.

  • Koji Kato Chops Off His Long Hair for a Makeover — 5ch: ‘He Just Went Back to Normal’

It’s been revealed that Gokuraku Tonbo’s Koji Kato has cut the hair he’d grown out to ear-length, switching to a short style. The news broke not through Kato himself but via his radio co-star — Sakanaction’s Ichiro Yamaguchi — who posted Kato’s new look on his own X account. On 5ch, many welcomed the haircut, given how unpopular Kato’s long hair had been in earlier threads, while others brought up celebrities like Kimutaku, Yosuke Eguchi, and Joe Odagiri — all of whom have sparked debate over long hair in the past — turning the thread into a broader discussion of ‘what kind of face can actually pull off long hair.’

    10/6 (Tue) 15:43

Ichiro Yamaguchi of the rock band Sakanaction updated his official X account on October 6, sharing a recent photo of Koji Kato of the comedy duo Gokuraku Tonbo, his co-star on the STV radio show ‘Kato-san to Yamaguchi-kun.’

Yamaguchi posted, ‘Koji Kato got his hair cut,’ along with a photo of Kato sitting across from him. Where the show’s official Instagram last week showed Kato’s hair reaching down to his ears, it’s now been changed to a clean, short style.

Kato's always been into fashion, furniture, antiques — he's actually the one who got Sakanaction's Yamaguchi hooked on comoli, one of the top domestic Japanese brands Yamaguchi came to love because of him.
I'd guess Kato was basically cosplaying as that brand's designer.

Background and Key Points of Discussion

Koji Kato had reportedly been growing out his hair for several years, with some in the thread claiming it was part of ‘doing something he’d always wanted to try in life.’ But once it reached ear-length, the hair proved hard to maintain, and plenty of commenters weren’t fans. This latest haircut was reported not by Kato himself but by his radio co-star Ichiro Yamaguchi on X (formerly Twitter), which is part of what made it notable. The thread went beyond just judging Kato, bringing up a string of other celebrities whose long hair has sparked debate over the years — Kimutaku, Yosuke Eguchi, Joe Odagiri — and evolving into a broader theory that ‘only certain face shapes can really pull off long hair.’ Commenters also noted how many middle-aged comedians have gone through a long-hair phase lately, and discussed why long hair in general has fallen out of fashion (the hassle of upkeep, for one). What started as a simple haircut story ended up spiraling into a full-blown debate on celebrity hairstyle culture.

  • New Show ‘News to’ Launches — 5ch Split Over Lineup Without Miyane

Yomiuri TV’s new program “News to” (weekdays at 1:55 PM) began airing on October 6. The MC is announcer Chiaki Kuroki, and on the first episode five commentators appeared, including Tomio Umezawa and Nao of Maximum the Hormone. On 5ch, because the time slot and the vibe of the lineup resembled the station’s longtime flagship show “Joho Live Miyane-ya,” the label “Miyane-ya without Miyane” spread quickly, and opinions split over whether the show actually feels fresh and how to read the first episode’s ratings.

The new Nippon TV-affiliated, Yomiuri TV-produced program “News to” (Mon-Fri, 1:55 PM) aired live on the 6th.

At the top of the show, the station’s Monday-to-Thursday MC, announcer Chiaki Kuroki (32), introduced Tuesday’s commentators. Five guests appeared: Tomio Umezawa; Nao, drummer/vocalist of Maximum the Hormone; education advisor Akihiro Shimizu; Bungei Shunju’s Rina Kuroiwa; and lawyer Shuya Nomura, a professor at Chuo University’s law school.

In real-time ratings it got crushed by a huge margin though. Strange, isn't it.

Yeah, I bet they saved a ton.

Background and Key Points of the Debate

“News to” is Yomiuri TV’s newly launched daily program, and because its weekday-afternoon slot and its format of bringing on commentators closely resemble the station’s longtime flagship show “Joho Live Miyane-ya,” the framing “Miyane-ya without Miyane” stood out on 5ch. The thread split mainly into two camps: one frustrated that the number and selection of commentators hasn’t really changed (questioning whether the show feels genuinely new), and the other debating the first episode’s ratings, with some calling them strong and others pointing out that in real-time ratings the show was running neck-and-neck with a rival station. The article itself doesn’t go into the actual circumstances behind Shinji Miyane’s departure from the show, so the thread’s guess that it was “something like hitting retirement age” should be treated as unverified speculation, not confirmed fact.
