  • Queen Tribute Act ‘Joou-sama’ (‘Her Majesty’), Famous for Literal Japanese Lyrics, Returns After 30 Years — 5ch: ‘We Lost It at “Yokozuna”‘

Joou-sama (“Her Majesty”), the alter-ego project by Bakufu Slump guitarist Pappara Kawai that sings word-for-word Japanese translations of Queen’s classic hits, marks its 30th debut anniversary with a full-fledged new album, ‘SHIN Joou-sama Monogatari,’ out September 14. The Japanese lyrics are again handled by fellow Bakufu Slump member Sanplaza Nakano-kun, and this time a joint live show with ‘Ousama’ (“His Majesty”) is also planned. The thread lit up with talk of the group’s relationship with Ousama — known for its own literal covers of Western songs — a debate over whether the syllable count of the English lyrics can really match the length of the Japanese translations, and hidden trivia buried in the lyrics.

    Sun, Sep 6, 4:30 PM

Joou-sama, the Japanese-literal-translation rock project led by Bakufu Slump guitarist Pappara Kawai, marks its 30th debut anniversary with the release of a new album, ‘SHIN Joou-sama Monogatari,’ on September 14. This is the first full-scale new release under the Joou-sama name in 30 years.

Joou-sama debuted in 1996. It’s an offbeat project in which Bakufu Slump’s Sanplaza Nakano-kun translates Queen’s classic songs literally into Japanese and Pappara Kawai belts them out — the group put out hits like ‘Joou-sama Monogatari.’

Background and Key Points of This Topic

Joou-sama debuted in 1996 as a novelty unit in which Sanplaza Nakano-kun translates Queen songs literally into Japanese and Pappara Kawai sings them. It’s a separate act from the earlier, similarly literal-translation cover group ‘Ousama’ (which covers Western music in general), and the thread repeatedly saw the two get mixed up or compared. What made news this time was the joint live show between the two acts and the fact that this is Joou-sama’s first full-scale new release in 30 years. Where the thread split was over whether the syllable count of the English lyrics can really match the length of the Japanese translations, with the debate over how to translate ‘I Was Born To Love You’ escalating into an exchange of actual syllable counts. Note that the wordplay around ‘bicycle’ and similar references mentioned in the replies comes from Queen’s original lyrics themselves, not something Joou-sama added.

*This article is compiled from excerpts and a summary of the 5ch (Geinou/Sports News+) thread ‘Pappara Kawai’s Queen-in-Japanese project ‘Joou-sama’ releases first new album in 30 years, ‘I’m back after all this time’ — joint live show with Ousama also announced.’

  • Rosy Chronicle’s 4th Single Drops November 4 — 5ch Reacts: ‘Would They Really Put “Great Misfortune” in a Song Title?’

Hello! Project’s Rosy Chronicle has announced that their 4th single, “Cuz It’s Great Misfortune⭐︎ / Even If You’re Scolded I Won’t Cry, Even If You’re Loved I Won’t Cry,” will be released on November 4. In the 5ch live-discussion thread, reactions first zeroed in on the shock value of the word “great misfortune” (daikyo — the worst possible result in Japanese fortune-slip, or omikuji, readings) used in the title, with some commenters bewildered, writing “Would they seriously put a word like ‘great misfortune’ in a song title, even nominally?” Others took it in stride with self-deprecating humor, saying “Well, they’re the ‘great misfortune’ group anyway, so that fits — at least they’re self-aware.” The discussion ranged widely, from the group holding release events mid-tour to sales worries that fans might be drifting toward Morning Musume’s new members instead.

Background and Key Points of This Discussion

Rosy Chronicle is a group under the Hello! Project umbrella. According to one post in the thread (#46), they released their 1st single in winter 2025 and have followed up with new songs roughly every six months to a year since, making this 4th single a fall 2026 release. The discussion centers on two main points. The first is bewilderment over putting the word “great misfortune” (daikyo) in the title (#9, #11), which drew some self-deprecating defense along the lines of “well, they’re the ‘great misfortune’ group, so at least they’re self-aware” (#16). The second is concern over sales, crystallized in comments like “hope they can hold the line at 50,000 copies” (#40), reflecting worries (#48, #56) that fans may be drifting toward Morning Musume’s newly added members. November 4 is also a fiercely contested release date, with several other groups dropping singles the same day (#34), and repeated questions came up about whether release events can realistically fit around the group’s tour schedule — painting a picture of on-the-ground fan reaction that goes well beyond a simple new-single announcement.

*This article is compiled as an excerpt and summary from the 5ch (Hello! Project) thread “Rosy Chronicle’s 4th Single ‘Cuz It’s Great Misfortune⭐︎ / Even If You’re Scolded I Won’t Cry, Even If You’re Loved I Won’t Cry’ Set for November 4 Release!.”

  • Yuta Misaki on Komeo’s Food Poisoning Scandal: ‘Saying He Should Quit Food Service Entirely Goes Too Far’

Businessman Yuta Misaki (known as the “Aojiru Prince”) posted on X on September 6, 2026 about chef Komeo, who caused a mass food poisoning outbreak, saying that while “getting to the bottom of the cause and preventing a recurrence is absolutely necessary,” he thinks “saying he should quit the restaurant business entirely, or never make a comeback, goes too far.” Komeo is alleged to have caused a mass food poisoning incident over the “chilled crab ramen” he served at the “Azabu-Juban Suzumi Matsuri” (a summer festival) held on August 22–23. On the 5channel “Geinou/Sports News+” board, opinions were split: some voiced understanding, saying “food poisoning can happen anywhere,” while others were harsher, arguing “given the scale of the damage, continuing is too lenient” and “based on how he’s handled the aftermath, a comeback isn’t appropriate.”

Businessman Yuta Misaki updated X (formerly Twitter) on the 6th, addressing the mass food poisoning scandal surrounding the “chilled crab ramen” served by chef Komeo at the “Azabu-Juban Suzumi Matsuri” festival (August 22–23).

Misaki pointed out that a thorough investigation is needed, saying, “The sheer scale of harm caused by Komeo’s food poisoning incident is genuinely serious. It’s no joking matter, and I think a thorough investigation into the cause and measures to prevent it happening again are absolutely necessary.” He then offered his own view that quitting isn’t necessarily required, adding, “But I think saying he should quit the restaurant business entirely, or never make a comeback, goes too far.”

He argued the real issue lies in what happens next. “The fact that he caused this incident will never go away as long as he lives. But I don’t want us to be a society that brands someone who genuinely reflects and faces up to their mistake with a permanent stigma of failure. What matters most, I think, is how you face things after you’ve failed,” he emphasized.

Nah, normally a shop that causes food poisoning just goes under.
Any restaurant that gets flagged by the health department is done for.
That's been the case for 50 years.
Anyone handling food has a corresponding level of responsibility.

    44AnonymousSep 6, 2026 22:29

He'll probably stop reusing crab that went unused the day before, at least.
    45AnonymousSep 6, 2026 22:29
If he still wants to work in food service, he should properly apologize and compensate this incident's victims, then go train for a few years at some legitimate restaurant to learn the basics of the trade.
If he won't do that, all I can say is: never work in food service again.

Things might get dicey starting tomorrow for a while.
With heavy rain, sewage backs up, you know.
A lot of restaurant kitchens have drains connected straight to the sewer,
so there's a chance wastewater flows back in.
Alright, we're closing tomorrow to clean up too.

This is straight-up food terrorism on the level of the arsenic curry case (a notorious 1998 mass poisoning incident in Japan).

People's grasp of how serious food poisoning is is way too soft.
Worst case, people die. Some end up in a vegetative state.
Some people can't even fully clear it and end up suffering for over ten years. He should count himself lucky no one was left disabled or dead, and just walk away.

Isn't this a new Japanese record for food poisoning?

    Damn, incredible.

Anyone who causes a food poisoning incident this huge shouldn't get a comeback.

This is a massive incident, you know?

    Re: #89
    A record.
    How fleeting.

    Background and Talking Points

Regarding the mass food poisoning at the Azabu-Juban Suzumi Matsuri, the thread also mentions that while the kappo restaurant that ran the food stall was hit with a business suspension order, Komeo’s own restaurant reportedly continued operating as usual — a detail readers can easily miss, since it means people are arguing about the merits of a ‘comeback’ from different starting assumptions. Misaki’s post acknowledged the seriousness of the incident while raising the question of rehabilitation and second chances, framed as not wanting a society that uniformly shuts out those who genuinely reflect and face their mistakes. The thread itself split between a defense holding that ‘food poisoning isn’t rare in this industry’ and criticism arguing that ‘given the scale of the health damage, rebuilding trust won’t be easy, and if he continues he should relearn the basics from scratch.’ It’s also worth noting that the original article doesn’t confirm whether the food poisoning caused any deaths or lasting aftereffects — the references in the thread to people ‘dying’ or being ‘left disabled’ point to the general risks of food poisoning, not to the actual outcomes of this particular case.

*This article was compiled as an excerpt and summary of the 5channel (Geinou/Sports News+) thread “Yuta Misaki: ‘Saying Komeo Should Never Work in Food Service or Make a Comeback Goes Too Far’ Regarding the Food Poisoning Scandal — ‘I Hope He Makes a Proper Comeback Someday’.”

  • VTuber Comment Sections Flooded with ‘Just Nodding Along’ Replies — 5ch Asks: ‘Have They Lost Their Sense of Self?’

On 5ch (Nanademo Jikkyo G), a trend caught attention where VTuber livestream comment sections were flooded with posts that were nothing but acknowledgments like “un un” (uh-huh) and “hou hou” (I see, I see). The backdrop is that many streams ban spoilers, preemptive comments, and lecturing, making it hard for viewers to post anything beyond a safe, noncommittal nod. Opinions in the thread were split: some viewers enjoyed it, likening it to chatting casually with a female friend, while critics compared the psychology of deliberately typing out meaningless words to a loss of one’s sense of self.

Background and Key Points of This Discussion

Many VTuber livestreams enforce comment-section rules banning “spoilers,” “hinting,” and “lecturing,” leaving viewers unable to engage with the actual content and forcing them to fall back on harmless acknowledgments. The thread touched on this point too, with some arguing it’s less about laziness and more a constraint imposed by streaming culture itself. That’s where opinions diverged: some viewers embraced the acknowledgments, saying they felt like casually chatting with a female friend, while others questioned the psychology behind it, wondering whether bothering to send meaningless words amounted to a loss of self. Some also argued that so-called “instruction otaku” who backseat-comment on stream content are far more harmful, taking an actively defensive stance toward the acknowledgment-only posters. A few posts touched on liking or disliking specific streamers, but portions amounting to personal attacks have been omitted from this article.

  • Hiroyuki Ariyoshi testifies to Yoshimoto comedians’ rough treatment — Dacho Club had his back, ‘I was prepared for anything’

On the September 6 broadcast of the radio program “SUNDAY NIGHT DREAMER,” Hiroyuki Ariyoshi spoke about the “roughness” he experienced from comedians affiliated with Yoshimoto Kogyo back in his early days. He said that having Dacho Club around was what let him stand up to the massive agency Yoshimoto, looking back and saying he’d “steeled himself” for it at the time. On 5channel’s “Geisupo+” (Entertainment/Sports News+) board, the remark sparked a lively thread covering how Ariyoshi’s poison-tongued persona took shape, opinions for and against Yoshimoto’s near-total dominance of the industry, and anecdotes about individual comedians like Dacho Club and Bakarhythm.

Talent Hiroyuki Ariyoshi appeared on the JFN radio program “SUNDAY NIGHT DREAMER” on the 6th, reminiscing about his younger days standing up to the “giant agency” Yoshimoto Kogyo.

Take the nicknames he gave the SMAP members, for example:
Kimutaku → "Getsuku Baka" ("baka"/idiot here can also read positively, like in "fishing idiot" — it's not a pure insult)
Nakai → "Fake SMAP" (sounds like it's putting Nakai down, but it actually praises SMAP while also elevating Nakai as their leader)
Making these razor's-edge calls in a split second is what makes Ariyoshi, Ariyoshi.

Background and Key Points of This Discussion

Hiroyuki Ariyoshi has a career arc that includes a slump after his duo broke up, followed by a comeback built on his poison-tongued persona. In the thread, the balance of power for comedians from agencies other than Yoshimoto trying to make it in Tokyo’s comedy world became a central topic. Some posts pointed to the gap between mid-sized agencies like Ohta Production and Horipro and Yoshimoto, which has overwhelming scale in terms of how many comedians it represents, with the shared view that an agency’s size affects how freely a comedian can speak their mind. Meanwhile, opinions split on Ariyoshi’s poison-tongued style itself — some admired his knack for nicknames, while others said they couldn’t really feel what was funny about it at the time. The thread also branched into lively comparisons of individual comedians’ anecdotes tangential to the main topic — stories about Dacho Club and Ken Shimura, Bakarhythm’s career history — turning into more of a freewheeling chat that never converged on a single conclusion.

  • Emiko Uenuma Slams TV Industry: “They Work Popular Stars to the Bone” — On Sandwichman Date’s Health Leave

Emiko Uenuma brought up Sandwichman’s Mikio Date (51), who has been hospitalized and gone on leave after suffering a cerebral infarction, on the September 6 broadcast of “Uenuma & Takada no Kugizuke!” She speculated that Date’s good nature — despite carrying 14 regular TV programs as one of the industry’s most in-demand stars — may have made it hard for him to turn work down, and criticized the way the TV industry uses its talent, saying, “They’ll work the popular ones to the bone, won’t they.” On 5channel, the remark sparked a split reaction: some agreed, pointing to an industry structure that leans on the same popular names over and over, while many others were skeptical of blaming the industry, arguing his health problems stem from his own lifestyle.

These days there are tons of wasteful studio shoots where a bunch of people just sit there watching a VTR clip.

    Background and points of debate

Sandwichman’s Mikio Date is a hugely in-demand star said to carry “14 regular programs,” and news of his hospitalization and leave of absence due to a cerebral infarction only broke in early September. Emiko Uenuma’s remarks point to the broader structure of Japan’s TV industry, where work keeps piling onto a handful of popular talents. Opinions on the thread split sharply between those who blame how the industry uses its stars and those who chalk it up to Date’s own lifestyle habits. Some also pointed out that Date and fellow Sandwichman member Takeshi Tomizawa’s agency, Grape Company, partly runs on a “bataa” system (a practice where booking a popular talent comes bundled with also hiring lesser-known talent from the same agency) — meaning Date’s personal workload is tied up with the agency’s overall business in a way the article alone doesn’t make clear. Others noted that Showa-era TV rotated through a much wider range of performers, feeding a view in some corners that always relying on “the same familiar faces” is part of what’s made television less interesting.

※This article is excerpted and summarized from the 5channel (Geinou/Sports News+) thread “Emiko Uenuma criticizes TV industry over Sandwichman Date’s cerebral infarction: “They’ll work the popular ones to the bone” / “I do wonder about that”.”

A thread on the Hello! Background and Talking Points

Japanese TV has a long tradition of bringing people who made a name for themselves in a specific field into the “cultural figure” slot on variety shows and talk programs, temporarily turning them into talent-like celebrities. Many of the names raised in this 5ch thread are specialists in areas like cooking, mountaineering, shogi, horse racing, and photography, who became familiar faces to the general public thanks to that TV exposure. On the other hand, some of the names mentioned — like Matsuko Deluxe and Sakana-kun — were originally meant to be temporary guests but ended up sticking around as long-term talents, so the thread is split on whether they really count as “brief.” Many of the names are unfamiliar to younger viewers, highlighting just how wide the generational gap in name recognition really is.

※This article is composed as excerpts and a summary from the 5ch (Hello! Project board) thread “Celebrities who weren’t actually professional talents but got pushed as talents for a brief moment.”

  • Singer Ayaka Hirahara’s ‘Let’s Do a Chiikawa Musical’ Post Sparks Mixed Reactions

On September 3, a post by singer Ayaka Hirahara on her X (formerly Twitter) account has become a hot topic. According to the post, she pitched a Toho producer on the idea of “doing a Chiikawa musical,” only to be met with the warmly amused response, “Aya really does love Chiikawa, doesn’t she.” She also wrote that she’d like to audition for the role of the rabbit. On 5channel’s “Geinou/Sports News+” thread, opinions split over the awkwardness of pitching something unilaterally when she isn’t a rights holder, whether a live-action or mascot-costume version could even work, and comparisons to Shigesato Itoi’s past collaborations.

    2026.09.06 18:00

The post singer Ayaka Hirahara put up on her own X account on September 3 is still making waves three days later.

“When I seriously pitched my own selfish little dream — ‘Why not do a Chiikawa musical?’ — to a Toho producer, I got a warmly amused look and a ‘Aya really does love Chiikawa, doesn’t she.’ Pfft. #IWantToAuditionForTheRabbitRole #DoubleCastingWithKenjiUraiIsFineByMe”

A living example of how staying exposed to weird stuff makes you weird too

Background and Key Points of This Discussion

Ayaka Hirahara’s pitch to “do a Chiikawa musical” is, at the end of the day, just one individual’s personal wish — it hasn’t gone through any agreement with original creator Nagano or rights holders like Toho. Shigesato Itoi, who came up as a point of comparison in the thread, is someone who has run official Chiikawa collaborations through his own website “Hobonichi” for years now. Even though both cases involve publicly declaring love for Chiikawa, the difference in how each has been received comes down to whether it happened with the rights holders’ agreement. What split the thread wasn’t really the merits of a live-action or musical adaptation itself, but rather discomfort at seeing a celebrity’s off-the-cuff idea turned straight into a news article, versus those who brushed it off as just a fan expressing a harmless wish. As of this thread, there has been no official response from the creator’s side.

※This article is excerpted and summarized from the 5channel (Geinou/Sports News+) thread ““Why Not Do a Chiikawa Musical?” — Ayaka Hirahara’s “wishful” post draws backlash: “No one wants a live-action version”… Shigesato Itoi’s “copy” also under scrutiny [Ailuropoda melanoleuca★]“.

  • Morning Musume.’s New Tour Merch: Moa Suzuki Sells Out Repeatedly While Miyu Yasuda Struggles, Fans Say

On day two of Morning Musume.’s ’26 Fall Tour, following the announcement that Miyu Yasuda and Moa Suzuki would be the “2TOP,” posts about that day’s merchandise sales results poured into the Hello! Project board on 5ch. Detailed reports tracked sellouts at both the venue and online, and while Moa Suzuki stood out with acrylic stands and T-shirts selling out repeatedly, many pointed out that Miyu Yasuda’s sales were sluggish outside of the daily-rotation item. Discussion also spread around the popularity gap among 18th-gen members Sugihara, Inoue, and Ishikawa, with some posts voicing distrust in “Ōkami” (a fan-run site known for predicting member popularity rankings) after its predictions didn’t match the actual sales results.

Background and Key Points of the Discussion

The central point of contention in the thread was whether “how fast merch sells out” can really be equated with “popularity.” Since stock levels vary widely from member to member to begin with, posters repeatedly countered that a slower sellout doesn’t necessarily mean lower popularity. Others pointed out that “stackable” collectibles like figures and acrylic stands are fundamentally different from venue-exclusive merchandise, reflecting a wariness toward simple comparisons. Some also questioned the reliability of “Ōkami” (an unofficial, message-board-born site fans use as a gauge for predicting member popularity), since its predictions didn’t match the actual sales results. Note: this article excludes posts that disparage specific members’ appearance or attack individuals by name, and only extracts exchanges centered on merchandise sales data.

  • Doubts Cast on Noritake Kinashi’s ‘Nice Guy’ Image — 5ch: ‘Never Had That Image to Begin With’

Tunnels’ Noritake Kinashi has drawn renewed criticism after footage resurfaced showing him climbing onto the roof of a Mercedes-Benz during episode 30 of “Kinashi Record,” streamed on ABEMA on April 25, 2026. With his comedy partner Takaaki Ishibashi having largely disappeared from the public eye, one article asked whether Kinashi’s “nice guy” reputation was ever real — prompting a wave of responses on 5ch along the lines of “he never had that image to begin with” and “he’s always been the reckless one.” Others pushed back, noting reports that the car’s owner had actually asked him to climb onto the roof, and questioned whether the article was cherry-picking the story.

    Sun, Sep 6, 11:30 AM

Noritake Kinashi (64), of the comedy duo Tunnels, is facing backlash online. Renewed attention to his actions during episode 30 of “Kinashi Record,” streamed on ABEMA on April 25, 2026, has sparked a wave of criticism.

Even back at their peak over 30 years ago, everyone said Ishibashi was the sensible one and Kinashi was the weird one. Why act surprised now?
    24AnonymousSep 6, 2026 14:51
He's had such a long career precisely because he's not a nice guy.
    25AnonymousSep 6, 2026 14:51
Kinashi was always worse than Ishibashi when it came to bullying ADs (assistant directors) and juniors — why the surprise now?
    26AnonymousSep 6, 2026 14:52
Maybe he'll start selling Benz-branded bicycles next (´・ω・`)
    27AnonymousSep 6, 2026 14:52
Still trying to mislead people with this after-the-fact 'kotatsu article' (a lazy piece written from home with no real reporting)?
    29AnonymousSep 6, 2026 14:54
Doesn't he know the tide has already turned?
Way too out of the loop for a journalist.
    30AnonymousSep 6, 2026 14:54
    Showa era?
Tunnels' peak was during the Heisei era, wasn't it?
    31AnonymousSep 6, 2026 14:54
I always figured this was just his comedy style.
    32AnonymousSep 6, 2026 14:54
The follow-up video already changed the narrative — why run this article now?
    33AnonymousSep 6, 2026 14:54
Who knew Tunnels and Downtown would fade while Unnan (Utchan Nanchan) is the one still standing.
    35AnonymousSep 6, 2026 14:56
If he did this in private, sure, judge his character — but you can't tell anything from an edited TV clip lol.
    37AnonymousSep 6, 2026 14:59
Anyone saying he never had a nice-guy image is a newbie fan.
Kinashi genuinely did have a nice-guy image back in the day.
It was Ishibashi who smashed the camera while Kinashi just recoiled in shock.
It was Ishibashi who boycotted the radio show.
It was Ishibashi who blew up live on a music program.
    39AnonymousSep 6, 2026 15:01
I remember Bananaman saying on their radio show once that Kinashi was actually the scarier one in Tunnels.
    41AnonymousSep 6, 2026 15:01
The car's owner literally asked him to get on the roof.
Whether the writer knew that or not,
it's embarrassing for K Dub Shine's crew (referring to the rapper) to push this.
    42AnonymousSep 6, 2026 15:02
Nice guy? Who, him? He's famous for being unhinged.
    43AnonymousSep 6, 2026 15:03
It was forgivable as harmless mischief when he was young,
but it's rough seeing him still doing this as he nears old age.
    44AnonymousSep 6, 2026 15:04
Now that Takashi (Ishibashi) is out of the picture,
Nori (Kinashi) is getting hit with merciless criticism.
    46AnonymousSep 6, 2026 15:05
Never got what was funny about their student-humor act or that Teikyo University in-crowd vibe, even back when they were young.
Though Yoshimoto comedians are even more cringe-inducing.
    84AnonymousSep 6, 2026 15:34
This is just web news stirring things up — for older folks, denting a car is nothing compared to what Takeshi and Sanma have done.
Young people probably don't even care about Kinashi anyway.
    88AnonymousSep 6, 2026 15:41
    Re: #84
With Takeshi and Sanma there's an established running bit, and apparently Sanma even left his scar unfixed because he thought it looked cooler.

Background and Key Points of the Discussion

“Kinashi Record” is a show streamed on ABEMA, and renewed attention to a scene from its April 25, 2026 episode — in which Noritake Kinashi climbed onto the roof of a Mercedes-Benz — sparked criticism. With his partner Takaaki Ishibashi having rarely appeared in public in recent years amid recurring speculation about his health, the article in question took the angle of re-evaluating Kinashi’s own behavior as that of a “loose cannon.” Opinion on the thread split over whether to view the act as “a trait he’s always had” or as “behavior that’s no longer acceptable now that he’s older.” It’s also worth noting that, according to some reports, the car’s owner had actually asked him to climb onto the roof — a claim the article doesn’t confirm one way or the other — which drew its own share of criticism over selective reporting. Tunnels have been known since the 1980s for their body-on-the-line stunts, and the contrast between Kinashi’s and Ishibashi’s personas has long been a topic of discussion.
