Daisuke Hori, a “short sleeper” YouTuber with 70,000 subscribers, has made the bulk of his stream archive private and announced he’ll respond to unauthorized reposting and slander with legal action if necessary. On 5ch’s Geinou/Sports News+ board, posters piled on with skepticism about his sleep claims themselves and questions about why he chose this moment to lock down his archive.
Between August 25 and 26, “Daisuke Hori” (70,000 subscribers) updated his YouTube community posts. Posting under the name of the General Incorporated Association Japan Short Sleeper Development Association, which he heads, he reported that he had made most of his livestream archive private, and laid out a policy of responding to unauthorized reposting and slander with measures including legal action.
Public video count drops from 1,680 to 702
In a notice titled “Notice Regarding the Privatization of Livestream Archives” posted on the 25th, he first explained the situation: “We have confirmed instances of unauthorized reposting and copyright infringement involving footage and images from this channel (including membership-exclusive content) on external social media.” He then reported: “In order to prevent further damage and to consider our response going forward, we have made the bulk of the livestream archive from before August 24 private, with the exception of some streams.”

Well, he's awake and active longer than regular people, so he must get a lot done.
11AnonymousAug 26, 2026 16:33
Doing it 'cause staff told him to? Guess he's the type who doesn't want to get his own hands dirty.
12AnonymousAug 26, 2026 16:33
If you're gonna call it 'short,' it should be under 20 minutes. Anything more than that isn't short. Get your sleep down to under 20 minutes — I'm looking forward to that.

Japanese people see a few people throwing stones and go 'oh, so it's fine to throw stones!' and pile on without even knowing the full story.
Seriously, what is with this garbage national character?
And yet they call themselves "kind," "gentle," "calm" — do they not even know the word "shame"?
83AnonymousAug 26, 2026 16:54
Re: #13
That's some vicious mudslinging there's no way a Japanese person could pull off.
15AnonymousAug 26, 2026 16:34
So he's basically admitting his own story was a lie, lol
Why hide the videos?
Is it because doctors completely shot him down? lol
And now he's started fighting back using his own little organization.
Go complain to the doctors first.
16AnonymousAug 26, 2026 16:34
Change your title to "Short-Tempered" instead. (a pun on "short sleeper" → "short temper")
17AnonymousAug 26, 2026 16:35
As long as he's not lying to make money, I guess it's fine?
18AnonymousAug 26, 2026 16:35
Is this guy even Japanese? I've never seen a Japanese person tell such a nasty lie.
19AnonymousAug 26, 2026 16:35
Looks like he's cornered and can't stop being irritable.
20AnonymousAug 26, 2026 16:35
I'd honestly like to know how to nap properly to recover from fatigue when work leaves you with little sleep.
21AnonymousAug 26, 2026 16:35
It'd be hilarious if he got cast in a commercial for Regain (a famous Japanese energy drink known for its "24-hour fighter" ads).
22AnonymousAug 26, 2026 16:35
Please only do continuous 24-hour streams so clips can't be cut. And make it so viewers can actually verify his sleep time properly.
24AnonymousAug 26, 2026 16:36
Criticizing him with scientific facts counts as obstruction of business, so he should sue everyone!
25AnonymousAug 26, 2026 16:36
If someone copies this guy and causes a traffic accident, he's not gonna take responsibility for it. Just ban this harmful channel already.
27AnonymousAug 26, 2026 16:37
"Only sleeping 30 minutes" — theory: the number of people who actually believe that is zero.
28AnonymousAug 26, 2026 16:38
Why do these types always run to "it's slander!" the moment things get inconvenient for them?
Don't they ever learn it's pointless — or actually backfires?
29AnonymousAug 26, 2026 16:39
Guess his run as the internet's plaything is finally over.
31AnonymousAug 26, 2026 16:39
Isn't this past the point where we can just laugh it off?
32AnonymousAug 26, 2026 16:40
Three hours is half of six, so that seems doable enough.
73AnonymousAug 26, 2026 16:50
Re: #32
Sometimes I game too much and only get 3 hours of sleep, but then I end up passing out during the day, so 3 hours doesn't seem sustainable in practice.
Six hours minimum, really.
33AnonymousAug 26, 2026 16:40
Guess I'm a short sleeper too, 'cause I'm not sleeping and it's rough~
Aah, I wanna sleep~
35AnonymousAug 26, 2026 16:41
Lack of sleep really does make you short-tempered.
Short-sleeper Mr. Hori is teaching us the importance of sleep firsthand.
36AnonymousAug 26, 2026 16:41
Forget all that, just hurry up and prove the daily 30-minute sleep thing already.
38AnonymousAug 26, 2026 16:41
Hurry up and do a live short-sleep stream already — I'm staying up waiting for it.
40AnonymousAug 26, 2026 16:41
Filing disclosure requests and going to court with no money is a total pipe dream — does he have any idea how much each case costs? lol
41AnonymousAug 26, 2026 16:42
Still no one-week livestream?
61AnonymousAug 26, 2026 16:46
Re: #41
He's gotta do it for at least 3 straight months (90 days), minimum.
47AnonymousAug 26, 2026 16:43
Thanks to the short sleeper for personally teaching us it's bad for your mind, body, and wallet — all of it.
51AnonymousAug 26, 2026 16:44
So being a "short sleeper"… is it actually good for anything?
52AnonymousAug 26, 2026 16:44
This guy's still sleeping a whole 30 minutes? Kinda soft, isn't it? He should just stay awake the whole time.
53AnonymousAug 26, 2026 16:44
He should just livestream and show the haters he really isn't sleeping — shut them all up for good.
54AnonymousAug 26, 2026 16:44
Membership costs 1,990 yen a month.
What is this, some harmful money-grubbing scheme.
63AnonymousAug 26, 2026 16:47
Re: #54
Seriously?? lol Even assuming short-sleep were real, what's the actual benefit supposed to be lol
55AnonymousAug 26, 2026 16:44
Even though he's ignored death threats this whole time?
62AnonymousAug 26, 2026 16:47
Wasn't he spending his non-sleeping hours in the bath? Man, if that's the case, I'd rather just sleep.
78AnonymousAug 26, 2026 16:53
Re: #62
Seven hours in the bath, with a futon laid out in the bathroom…
That would be way too perfect.
85AnonymousAug 26, 2026 16:54
Still, why couldn't humans, over the course of evolution, shorten sleep — the time when we're at our most defenseless?
90AnonymousAug 26, 2026 16:57
Re: #85
Because in human evolution the brain evolved so much — developing tool use and so on — that the body just couldn't keep up.
