Gundam Heroine Top 10 by 3,243 Voters: Who Beat Sayla for the #1 Spot?

The story

On the user-participation ranking site “Everyone’s Ranking,” the “All-Time Gundam Heroine Ranking” — which drew 3,243 participants and 14,626 votes — became a hot topic on 5ch’s Entertainment & Sports News+ board. In the thread, what stood out wasn’t so much the results themselves as how heroine opinions split along generational and series lines. Support for the Universal Century works clashed with appreciation for newer titles like Iron-Blooded Orphans and The Witch from Mercury (works from after the ν Gundam era), and some pointed out rough edges in the tally, such as “Fraw Bow landing at both #65 and #66” and “a character who’s a regular in popularity polls not even cracking the top 100.”

Some are the girl the hero comes home to; others stand in his way as a rival. That’s what heroines are in the Gundam series. Quite a few meet tragic ends. So who was most beloved by fans?

Let’s look at the results of the “All-Time Gundam Heroine Ranking” (as of this writing) on the user-participation ranking site “Everyone’s Ranking,” where 3,243 people took part and cast 14,626 votes. The ranking is tallied from the “ratings” participants assigned.

Counting down the results, here are the 10 heroines who placed from #10 on down.

Re: #21
Agreed
If it's a main heroine I can still laugh it off, but
it's probably guys hitting 60 who are voting

Re: #21
Says the generation that can't even produce an IP bigger than Gundam

The only boy-meets-girl story with a totally happy ending where the hero and heroine actually end up together is Gundam X's Tiffa — the quiet, perfectly heroine-like heroine.

Re: #224
There's an even happier one: Domon and Rain.
They're childhood friends, you know?

Re: #224
If ending up with the hero counts, there's also Lady Aina
233AnonymousOct 25, 2026 15:35
Re: #224
Relena counts too, right? Even though Heero told her "I'll kill you" in episode 1
225AnonymousOct 25, 2026 15:33
Fa from Z isn't popular at all, I wonder why
238AnonymousOct 25, 2026 15:35
Re: #225
Probably because most of her lines come off kind of hysterical-sounding
240AnonymousOct 25, 2026 15:36
Re: #225
She got overshadowed by Four
and by Emma too

I kind of wanted this one

Honestly, in G Gundam everyone feels thin except Master Asia and Schwarz Bruder
375AnonymousOct 25, 2026 16:21
Re: #369
In X, everyone feels kind of thin, honestly

Why's Katejina in a pai-su (a high-cut, "pie-slice" style swimsuit)?
454AnonymousOct 25, 2026 16:47
I regret not getting into X much back then
To begin with, the Gundam X itself as an MS had a design that was really my type, even among Gundams
462AnonymousOct 25, 2026 16:49
Re: #454
X's MS designs feel kind of like Takara toy robots — gives off a "this isn't it" vibe though
468AnonymousOct 25, 2026 16:50
Re: #462
Well, I won't knock it as a stylistic choice, but there's an excitement factor — for people who got into it through SD Gundam, it's irresistible
474AnonymousOct 25, 2026 16:52
Re: #462
That's cool in its own way
And the Divider is genuinely cool
510AnonymousOct 25, 2026 17:04
Everything UC-related feels too calculated for my taste
Like I'm just being thrown bait
538AnonymousOct 25, 2026 17:13
Re: #510
Apparently when they showed Iron-Blooded Orphans and UC to young people who don't know Gundam, Iron-Blooded Orphans won overwhelmingly

The fact that Iron-Blooded Orphans — which barely feels like Gundam at all — was preferred is probably down to how easy it is to follow
UC's Laplace's Box, which only pretends to be grand in scale, was just way too incomprehensible
553AnonymousOct 25, 2026 17:17
Why did funnels just disappear, I wonder
I was disappointed when I watched F91
those are just plain cannons
560AnonymousOct 25, 2026 17:19
Re: #553
In the newest Gundam, didn't they use the setting where each individual funnel has a clone loaded inside it?
568AnonymousOct 25, 2026 17:20
Re: #553
They were a mainstay in both Freedom and Witch from Mercury, I think
Maybe for the Universal Century it's mainly because Psycho-Frame tech got buried in the dark
570AnonymousOct 25, 2026 17:21
Re: #553
Because it makes the visuals boring
642AnonymousOct 25, 2026 17:46
I'm into chubby girls so (;´Д`)

Ocarina lmaooo
645AnonymousOct 25, 2026 17:48
She's been dominating anime magazine heroine rankings for 4 years straight, and yet

656AnonymousOct 25, 2026 17:51
Re: #645
What about Maetel?
That's weird, how is she not on there
667AnonymousOct 25, 2026 17:56
941AnonymousOct 25, 2026 21:55
#1 through #100

There are quite a few "who even is that" names in here
probably because it's ranking female characters in general rather than strictly heroines
945AnonymousOct 25, 2026 21:59
Re: #941
#87, "Sayla-san" —
is that different from Sayla Mass?

#65 Flay Allster
#66 Flay Allster

that's pretty sloppy, huh lol

Re: #941
Can't believe Senpai Fumina didn't even make the top 100…

Background and Key Points of This Topic

This “All-Time Gundam Heroine Ranking” comes from “Everyone’s Ranking,” an open-to-the-public voting site, and because it’s tallied from ratings submitted by participants, the results don’t necessarily track name recognition — which makes it prone to rough edges, like perennial favorites from popularity polls missing the top 100, or the same character getting double-counted under different name spellings. What divided opinion in the thread wasn’t the rankings themselves so much as “which work you use as your baseline for what counts as a heroine”: fans who judge by the Universal Century series and fans who judge by comparatively newer works like Iron-Blooded Orphans and The Witch from Mercury were talking past each other. Since the ranking’s scope covers female characters in general rather than strictly “heroines,” the presence of unfamiliar names is also easy to misread if you don’t know how the ranking works.
