During Juice=Juice’s autumn tour, X (formerly Twitter) buzzed with talk that the first half of the show featured few of the standard songs even newer fans would recognize, leaving the venue oddly quiet. On 5ch, opinions clashed: some argued ‘they already played plenty of newbie-friendly songs back in spring and last autumn’ and ‘holding back the surefire hits and saving them for later is reasonable,’ while others countered that ‘there are actually more newcomers now, so this shows a lack of consideration’ and ‘the old-school fans are using the spring setlist to lord it over everyone.’ The debate over how the setlist was put together left fans divided.
What people said

People are saying on X that the first half was nothing but songs nobody recognized, leaving the crowd standing frozen like statues ('jizo') — the venue was dead silent.
3AnonymousOct 3, 2026 20:46
They already did newbie-friendly songs to death back in spring and last autumn, didn't they?
4AnonymousOct 3, 2026 20:46
In the end, this year too it looks like we're just doing the birthday thing no matter what,
so can I just go full throttle with only my favorite songs?
Don't tell me you don't know the song — not my problem!
If you're a Hello! Project otaku, worry about being an otaku more than about the members!!!
Don't care! That's just you not doing your homework!
6AnonymousOct 3, 2026 20:48
The only 'newbie-friendly' songs are basically 'More' (漏れ) and 'Kurakura,' right?
7AnonymousOct 3, 2026 20:48
There are more newbies now than there were in spring, so think about it a little!
8AnonymousOct 3, 2026 20:49
People like that don't need to keep coming, honestly.
9AnonymousOct 3, 2026 20:49
For what it's worth, the old-school fans seem to be rubbing it in, bragging 'This is a hundred times better than the spring setlist!' as if to spite the newbies.
13AnonymousOct 3, 2026 20:50
They already did the newbie-pandering setlist back in spring, so this one's the right call.
56AnonymousOct 3, 2026 21:08
Re: #13
If it's nothing but standard crowd-pleasers, people get bored fast and the hardcore fans hate it too, so I think this setlist is the right call this time.
17AnonymousOct 3, 2026 20:51
If you're catering to fans who got into the group through 'Moremi' (盛れミ), this setlist is spot on.
Fans who came in via 'Kurakura' probably can't keep up, though.
18AnonymousOct 3, 2026 20:51
Went to the Fukuoka show, and the fans were so quiet I started wondering if this group is even popular.
21AnonymousOct 3, 2026 20:53
Isn't the idea that 'loud calls = popularity' kind of outdated to begin with?
That said, I do want people to call out loud.
22AnonymousOct 3, 2026 20:53
I searched around and couldn't find anyone actually saying that…
24AnonymousOct 3, 2026 20:55
I'm a newbie and I honestly don't care about the original members.
Don't force that on me.
So lame.
25AnonymousOct 3, 2026 20:56
Re: #24
Nobody's even talking about original members here, no?
26AnonymousOct 3, 2026 20:56
The moment they benched 'Tokyo Blur' — their No. 3 hitter playing third base — from the starting lineup, that tells you everything.
32AnonymousOct 3, 2026 20:59
Re: #26
No 'Hito Sore' (fan shorthand for one of their songs) either.
27AnonymousOct 3, 2026 20:56
People going on about 'the crowd was loud' are just Hello! Project uncles who've been to show after show their whole lives — that's all it is.
28AnonymousOct 3, 2026 20:57
There's no need for some coddling 'newbie-friendly setlist.'
They're just playing songs that fit the concept of the show.
29AnonymousOct 3, 2026 20:58
'Moremi' (漏れミ) was the only song that got a huge call.
It's kind of sad that's the only one the newbies actually know.
31AnonymousOct 3, 2026 20:59
Would everyone be happy if they just played 'Moremi' (盛れミ) twice, once at the start and once at the end?
I guess getting bigger means accepting that kind of thing too.
33AnonymousOct 3, 2026 21:00
If you're going to be a Hello! Project fan, you need to be able to kind of call along even to a song you're hearing for the first time.
34AnonymousOct 3, 2026 21:00
I'm curious about the Pia festival setlist.
Playing 'More' (盛れ) twice is already getting stale, but there's no other way to hype up the ending.
35AnonymousOct 3, 2026 21:01
I'd love for them to leave everyone stunned with songs like 'Sabasaba' or 'Dream Road,' but they probably won't do that anyway.
36AnonymousOct 3, 2026 21:01
Even if they lined up all the standard songs, 'Moremi' is the only one people actually call out for, right?
On the spring tour even 'Hito Sore' got blank stares.
37AnonymousOct 3, 2026 21:02
'Moremi' second-to-last and 'Kurakura' last — that's super newbie-friendly.
38AnonymousOct 3, 2026 21:02
Yeah, they really need the floor-stomping dance.
39AnonymousOct 3, 2026 21:02
My least favorite Juice=Juice song is 'Hito Sore.'
40AnonymousOct 3, 2026 21:02
Maybe it felt a bit lacking because neither 'Hito Sore' nor 'Blur' were in it.
I get that they have to include a new song, but it's not like the new one's actually good.
41AnonymousOct 3, 2026 21:02
I want them to play something like 'Scramble' and leave everyone stunned.
42AnonymousOct 3, 2026 21:03
If it's for the newbies, I'd want 'Pop Music' and 'Magic of Love' in there too.
44AnonymousOct 3, 2026 21:03
Fans who got into the group through 'More' (盛れ) still have a trial ahead: being left stunned by the saxophone solo at the Christmas event.
58AnonymousOct 3, 2026 21:09
Went to the Atsugi show, and other than the closing song 'Room,' there was basically nothing that got the crowd going.
I really don't want to sit through something like 'Potsurito' on purpose.
63AnonymousOct 3, 2026 21:11
Re: #58
Seriously, that was the one song I needed least.
It was so boring I started thinking about something else entirely.
59AnonymousOct 3, 2026 21:09
The problem is that stale old setlist just isn't landing with the newbies.
The song choices are off.
Pick songs that actually hit.
77AnonymousOct 3, 2026 21:20
Re: #59
There's only a limited number of songs that actually land with newbies, so think a bit about the timing of when to use them live.
Holding back the surefire hits and saving them for later seems like a reasonable call to me.
68AnonymousOct 3, 2026 21:14
If you don't want to sit through songs like 'Potsurito,'
you're probably happier just not getting into Juice=Juice in the first place.
73AnonymousOct 3, 2026 21:17
Re: #68
No way, there's no other song that boring.
Background and Key Points of This Discussion
Hello! Project idol groups tend to alternate between setlists built around ‘surefire hits’ that even newer fans recognize, and setlists aimed at longtime fans that drop the standards for a different lineup — and this thread’s debate is essentially a reaction to that swing. In idol live culture, the audience’s synchronized ‘calls’ create a sense of unity, but when unfamiliar songs run back-to-back, the calls don’t come and the venue goes quiet — the so-called ‘jizo’ (stone-statue) state. In the thread, opinions split between ‘they already did plenty of newbie-friendly shows in spring and last autumn, so holding back the surefire hits now is reasonable’ and the counterargument that ‘there are actually more newcomers now, so this shows a lack of consideration’ — with no clear consensus on which view is right. It’s also worth noting that the full setlist itself was never confirmed within the thread, and the posts are based solely on individual audience members’ impressions from their respective venues.
