I wonder what the failure rate is for those screen banding defects.
3AnonymousOct 30, 2026 16:34
"It's so cramped when folded!" …are you an idiot?
40AnonymousOct 30, 2026 16:51
Re: #3
The toolbar-like thing on the side is way too big and gets in the way — the actual display area is seriously like an old iPhone mini. And yet it's way heavier than the mini. Pure suffering.
6AnonymousOct 30, 2026 16:36
Apparently scalpers are cancelling a ton of orders, so delivery times have shrunk quite a bit.
7AnonymousOct 30, 2026 16:36
You'd normally check stuff like that before buying it.
8AnonymousOct 30, 2026 16:37
What do you even do with this kind of phone once you open it?
9AnonymousOct 30, 2026 16:38
¥570,000 for a smartphone is just insane
Prices lately are way too high
10AnonymousOct 30, 2026 16:40
So from now on we replace our phones every year for ¥600,000?
37AnonymousOct 30, 2026 16:49
Re: #10
That's ¥3,000,000 for a family of five.
13AnonymousOct 30, 2026 16:40
That's a price like a computer from 30 years ago.
14AnonymousOct 30, 2026 16:40
Does it do anything besides fold?
15AnonymousOct 30, 2026 16:40
Can you even return something for personal reasons after you've used it?
70AnonymousOct 30, 2026 17:05
Re: #15
You can, if you bought it directly from Apple.
16AnonymousOct 30, 2026 16:41
So the iPhone Duo turned out to be the kind of thing that shakes even an Apple devotee's faith.
17AnonymousOct 30, 2026 16:41
These days Apple's basically just copying Chinese manufacturers.
18AnonymousOct 30, 2026 16:41
Returning it even though nothing's wrong with it?
Just because you didn't like it?
19AnonymousOct 30, 2026 16:42
You can't return something for a reason like that.
20AnonymousOct 30, 2026 16:43
Yes you can.
Actually, I don't know about Japan, but in the US you get two weeks. Even on Apple's official forums, Apple itself never comments, but veteran users jump in right away with "if you've got complaints, just return it."
21AnonymousOct 30, 2026 16:43
It'll probably be decent by about the iPhone Duo 3.
22AnonymousOct 30, 2026 16:44
He does this all the time just to farm views — guy's got way too much time on his hands.
23AnonymousOct 30, 2026 16:44
Seems like the right move is to use it as a foldable tablet, not a phone.
24AnonymousOct 30, 2026 16:44
Yesterday I searched for the Mac mini M4 Pro and it was priced about the same.
Though that's from a different time period than this.
26AnonymousOct 30, 2026 16:46
If it's possible in the US but not in Japan, you've got to question whether this is really the same company's corporate mindset.
27AnonymousOct 30, 2026 16:46
Split-screen app view has been standard on Android for generations — iPhone couldn't do that? ("泥," or "mud," is slang for Android)
29AnonymousOct 30, 2026 16:47
A sane person wouldn't buy this in the first place, but it's your job to buy it, so I guess that can't be helped.
But reviewing it and then just returning it is the worst thing you can do.
31AnonymousOct 30, 2026 16:47
You're the slaves here — you've just been brainwashed into thinking you can't do it.
33AnonymousOct 30, 2026 16:48
So basically a slave is telling other slaves, "Act like proper slaves!"
34AnonymousOct 30, 2026 16:48
He could probably make back that ¥570,000 from this one video alone pretty quickly.
35AnonymousOct 30, 2026 16:48
Oh, is that so~ (´・ω・`)
36AnonymousOct 30, 2026 16:49
"This is what dignity looks like as a proper slave!"
That's basically the lecture.
As a high-ranking slave myself, I'm apparently great at reading what the master wants.
38AnonymousOct 30, 2026 16:50
He can probably write it off as a business expense, so it could work as a tax-saving move. Not sure how many years the depreciation period is, though.
It's not even funny — the Apple devotees who used to bash Japanese flip phones and trash the GALAXY ended up landing right back at… a flip phone.
And they trashed Osaifu Keitai (Japan's mobile wallet/NFC payment system) endlessly too.
39AnonymousOct 30, 2026 16:50
Who is this guy? What kind of YouTuber is he?
41AnonymousOct 30, 2026 16:51
If even Apple devotee Seto Koji is saying this, it's no good.
42AnonymousOct 30, 2026 16:51
Being a gadget reviewer looks easy since you're just introducing products, but there are tons of brand loyalists and obsessives following this stuff, and there's always some unhinged viewer out there trying to pick a fight like some dojo-crasher. Seems like it'd mess with your head — no way I'd want that job.
46AnonymousOct 30, 2026 16:52
Sounds like the near-total lack of cases is a fatal flaw.
Even the few that do exist barely protect it, because of the odd shape.
And given the price, you can't exactly run around with it bare either.
58AnonymousOct 30, 2026 16:58
Re: #46
It's absurdly expensive and there's no case for it?
Can't even use it outside, lol
75AnonymousOct 30, 2026 17:07
lol, he's saying stuff you'd know before even buying it
80AnonymousOct 30, 2026 17:10
Re: #75
Seto Koji posted on X that it seemed like a defective unit.
That's the one thing you really can't know until you buy it.

Background and Key Points of This Discussion

The “iPhone Duo” is Apple’s first foldable iPhone, and its top-tier configuration comes in at ¥570,000 — a price range with no precedent among previous iPhones. As for the return-policy question that became a hot topic in the thread: if purchased directly from the Apple Store, Japan also has a standard policy allowing no-questions-asked returns within 14 days, so this isn’t a US-only perk. The comment in reply #20 claiming “I don’t know about Japan, but in the US you get two weeks” is close to a misunderstanding, since the same policy applies in Japan too. Opinions split over whether it’s reasonable to return a device not because it’s defective, but simply because “I tried it and didn’t like it” — some argued that, as a reviewer, he should have researched this before buying, while others countered that there are things you simply can’t know without using the real device. Notably, concrete practical complaints came up relative to the price — like the scarcity of dedicated cases and the cramped display area — meaning the main point of contention wasn’t the foldable form factor itself, but the gap between the price and real-world usability.
