The story
Ediia has announced that “Psikyo Memories” will launch for Nintendo Switch 2 and PS5 on February 18, 2027. The collection bundles all 12 of Psikyo’s arcade shooters, including “Strikers 1945” and “Gunbird,” but commenters on the thread were quick to point out that “the content is probably just the existing PS port” and “the rights just moved from City Connection to a Korean company.” The pricing — 7,480 yen for the standard edition and 16,280 yen for the special edition — also drew complaints, with many noting these titles have sold for just a few hundred yen in past sales. The reasons behind the exclusion of titles running on other companies’ hardware, like Zero Gunner 1 and 1945PLUS, also became a topic of discussion.

Nothing's changed from before, it's still just the PS version port.
They've just been copy-pasting the same thing forever.
I'm saying they're all already out individually.
but if it's one package I'd want it on a cartridge.
size, page count, is that info coming later?
Zero Gunner 2 is still the "-" (minus) eyeballed recreation version too.
So if you already own the old version, you don't need to buy this.
If they'd at least newly included the titles that ran on Sega Model 2 hardware (Pilot Kids and Zero Gunner 1),
that would've given people a reason to think "oh, this one's different."
Also, Space Bomber.
so over 7,000 yen is pretty steep.
I'd at least want one brand-new title thrown in.

What a mess.
Yeah, you can.
I play Arcade Archives titles like that a lot.
What is going on with Ediia?
It's in the article linked in Re: #1, but it looks like the rights to Psikyo's games are now held by a Korean company.
That one's Capcom.
but 1945PLUS HAS been ported, so don't leave it out like this.
Feels like anything built on another company's well-known hardware gets excluded.
Zero Gunner ran on Sega Model 2,
1945PLUS ran on Neo Geo.
Maybe they have to clear rights with the hardware maker they borrowed from?
mashed into one and ported to the latest hardware??
That's pretty lazy, even by their standards.
That's our Ediia for you — built different (a sarcastic meme phrase, lit. "got a different look about them").
Not sure if that's always been the case, but right now it's individual titles only.
The collection was never sold digitally to begin with.
That's because it's really just a bundle of the individual download versions.
When you plug the cartridge into the console, each included title shows up as its own separate icon you can play standalone — that's all it is.
This pattern is common on Switch, where the digital versions are sold individually and the cartridge is just a bundled package of them.
Is City Connection going to stop selling theirs?
Apparently City Connection is continuing to sell the Switch and PS4 versions.
What about Xbox?
Xbox is THE console for shmups, come on.
Seems like the real deal without the minus is already out on Steam.

Even the one without the minus in the title is still the minus version underneath…
I think it's the background in the second half of stage 1 that's the issue.
If 9/11 just hadn't happened, they probably could've released a home version.
Background and Key Points of This Discussion
Psikyo was a developer behind numerous 1990s arcade shooters, though the company itself has since dissolved. The rights to its titles later passed to City Connection, which had already distributed them individually and as a collection on Switch/PS4. This new “Psikyo Memories” is a repackaging through Ediia, working with a new rights holder (reportedly a Korean company), and multiple thread commenters pointed out that the included content appears to simply reuse the existing PS port data. There are two main points of contention. First is the question of why re-release on a new platform at all when the content hasn’t changed — a strong source of frustration among people who already own the older versions or bought them cheap in a sale, given the price. Second is the matter of missing titles: with Zero Gunner 1 (Sega Model 2 hardware), 1945PLUS (Neo Geo hardware), and Space Bomber all left out, commenters speculate that rights clearance for other companies’ hardware may be the obstacle. One thing readers might easily misread is that “all 12 titles” does not mean “every Psikyo game ever made” — it’s worth remembering that this is really just a bundle of the titles whose rights happened to be cleared.
