From our other sites

The story

Streamer Daisuke Hori is making waves on 5ch after repeatedly nodding off on camera during his endurance broadcast themed “I Won’t Sleep for 7 Days.” Each time he dozes off, he explains it away as a “microsleep,” but many viewers are convinced it’s just plain sleep. Reactions were split, with some pointing out the contradiction with his business selling info products about being a “short sleeper,” others worried about the dark circles under his eyes, and still others questioning whether the stunt itself is dangerous.

What people said

If you just say 'the stress of streaming messed him up,' you can excuse literally anything, right

You know about kotodama? (the belief that words have spiritual power — say it and it might come true)

His hair's clearly thinning now, this has basically become a game to see who can make Daisuke Hori go bald
13AnonymousSep 12, 2026 13:27
This guy's a real entertainer honestly
Been right about that the whole time
18AnonymousSep 12, 2026 13:29
Why does he keep deliberately doing stuff that makes him sleepy lol
This is basically a comedy bit at this point

He even went to the trouble of streaming from inside the bath and…

Re: #19
Is that Takuya-san!?
22AnonymousSep 12, 2026 13:29
It's supposedly something he's used to doing every day, so it's weird it turns into such a tightrope walk the moment he's streaming
Isn't anyone gonna press him on that?
96AnonymousSep 12, 2026 13:41
Re: #22
The fact that he's calling it a 'challenge' in the first place is the problem

This is dangerous, isn't it

Re: #42
He's got a tennis ball against his back, rolling around against the wall with it
It's the kind of thing you'd do after working out
55AnonymousSep 12, 2026 13:35
Being entertaining just by sleeping — every streamer out there should bow down to Hori

Re: #55
This guy's in Syamu territory (a streamer famous for being unintentionally hilarious)
He's funny just doing weird stuff
63AnonymousSep 12, 2026 13:36
Say what you want, I actually like this guy
69AnonymousSep 12, 2026 13:37
His whole angle is that you can live a reasonably energetic life on just 30 minutes of sleep, right
If he can't even make it through a week without being wobbly, that contradicts what his own business is selling
81AnonymousSep 12, 2026 13:39
Re: #69
Given he sells info products, this stunt has nothing but downsides for him, yet he's doing it anyway
Though as entertainment it is funny
76AnonymousSep 12, 2026 13:39
Is 'microsleep' a term he came up with himself?
What's the actual difference from just sleeping
92AnonymousSep 12, 2026 13:41
Re: #76
When he immediately fell asleep on day one, he said 'that was 10 microsleeps just now' so it's fine

It's just a different name for the same thing

Re: #84
Someone let him sleep soon or he might actually die
107AnonymousSep 12, 2026 13:43
Re: #84
He's just filming his daily life, so why does he have dark circles…?
86AnonymousSep 12, 2026 13:40
Even though he's a shady info-product scammer, he's managed to shift into this endearing idiot character, so in the end this guy wins
109AnonymousSep 12, 2026 13:43
Re: #86
Re: #63 ← Idiots like this coddling him is exactly the problem
110AnonymousSep 12, 2026 13:43
No matter how badly he wanted content for his info products, why did he come up with such a lame idea
117AnonymousSep 12, 2026 13:44
Re: #110
As a hustle, this is really the hard road, huh 🥹

121AnonymousSep 12, 2026 13:45
Having to interact with viewers nonstop for 7 straight days of streaming is brutal
Even a genuine short sleeper would lose it doing this
129AnonymousSep 12, 2026 13:47
Re: #121
He doesn't really have to interact with them though?
He's just quietly streaming his normal daily life
124AnonymousSep 12, 2026 13:46
Couldn't he just say he has work that can't be shown on camera and duck out for a few hours?
137AnonymousSep 12, 2026 13:49
Re: #124
I haven't been watching so I don't know exactly what's going on, but apparently when he's teaching his sleep-learning program he says he can't show it on camera since it's business-related
If he mutes or cuts the video during that time, he could probably squeeze in some sleep
130AnonymousSep 12, 2026 13:47
He's got this look on his face like he's about to die whenever he's muted, what's up with that?
136AnonymousSep 12, 2026 13:49
Re: #130
Apparently people are saying he's got the face of death on him

Background and Key Points of This Story

“Microsleep” is originally a medical term for a brief, unintended lapse into sleep lasting only a few seconds — it’s not a word that means sleep never happened. Daisuke Hori sells info products claiming to teach short-sleep techniques, and this “7 days without sleep” broadcast appears to double as promotion for that business. The thread was split between those simply enjoying it as an entertainment stunt and those highlighting the gap between his business model — built on selling minimal sleep — and suspicions that the dozing off might be staged. The broadcast did show physical changes like dark circles under his eyes, but there’s no way to confirm his actual condition or the stunt’s authenticity outside the stream itself, so it’s worth noting that many facts beyond the thread remain unclear.
