Dragon’s Dogma 2: Dark Arisen Gets Early Footage — 5ch: “The Biggest Culprit Already Quit”

Capcom released early gameplay footage of Dragon’s Dogma 2: Dark Arisen via Famitsu, sparking discussion on 5ch’s hardware/industry board (Gehan). The main points of debate are the Switch 2 version’s frame rate, and whether the elements that drew criticism in the original Dragon’s Dogma 2 have been improved this time around.

Whoa, this looks amazing

Nope, the player's so bad I couldn't stand watching it
3Anonymous2026/08/26(水) 22:58:46.13ID:Re4blAgc0
Wasn't 2 kind of poorly received for its systems?
I wonder if that's been fixed this time

The biggest culprit already left the company, so maybe there's a bit of hope for this one… or so they say

Went to buy the DLC and it's already in my library

This series needs to start by dropping the 'open world' false advertising
7Anonymous2026/08/26(水) 23:00:31.09ID:FtHZkDQe0
I'm interested — if the stuff that got bad reviews has actually improved, I might pick it up
8Anonymous2026/08/26(水) 23:05:02.84ID:HEBT/+8f0
Does this game even run properly on Switch 2?
I'd at least want a stable 30fps

Looks pretty solid actually

Looks like it's around 25-30fps
Given the hardware specs and how oddly heavy the original game already was, that's actually pretty impressive…
Still want a 60fps option though
They can gut the resolution and shaders as brutally as needed for that

Capcom's grasp of Switch 2 porting has come a long way since Street Fighter 6 at launch
Setting the actual game content aside
10Anonymous2026/08/26(水) 23:07:56.43ID:dGgZCQbR0
The footage looks super fun,
but around this time we've also got the Witcher 3 remake, AC8, GoW:ED, this game, and Phantom Blade Zero all dropping end of month…
what am I even supposed to do
and there's Muchipo and Castlevania: Belmont's Curse squeezed in there too
whoa!!
12Anonymous2026/08/26(水) 23:08:34.13ID:DfQKRcaC0
Honestly, isn't this basically the real Monster Hunter at this point?

30fps is rough for an action game
A 60fps performance mode is a must

If Switch 2 can't handle that, that's on the developer for slacking
14Anonymous2026/08/26(水) 23:10:05.17ID:umgz8ZKb0
Onimusha's Switch 2 version is running stable too

Did they fix the pawns having such foul mouths?

Just make them completely silent, done

Anyway, when's that TU3.2 update scheduled for end of August actually landing
22Anonymous2026/08/26(水) 23:26:12.22ID:ko+gyu2T0
What era is this game even from — the combat's just 'poke the big enemy in the dark and call it a day,' nothing about it feels amazing or fun

Oh? Strange how you're already forming opinions on a game that hasn't even released yet… Are you posting from the future?
23Anonymous2026/08/26(水) 23:31:37.23ID:IPJl4kgL0
The combat's fun, but the exploration is absolute garbage

You can tell just from watching the video
43Anonymous2026/08/27(木) 00:05:36.90ID:/syWHCIS0
Never played the first one — is it okay to jump straight into this?
44Anonymous2026/08/27(木) 00:07:01.81ID:ICdPbn+N0

Only played 2, and I thought it was fun
Never really got why it caught so much hate
72Anonymous2026/08/27(木) 01:14:57.15ID:RXUzrYsA0
>>44
You thought THAT was fun…?
54Anonymous2026/08/27(木) 00:30:36.44ID:xGh0NjMg0
Surely it can at least manage 1080p/30fps on Switch 2, right?
That's the bare minimum for 2026
58Anonymous2026/08/27(木) 00:36:09.90ID:Dyu1i4yu0
>>54
Even the PS5 version dropped to 20fps at launch sometimes, and it took optimization plus a bunch of downgrades just to reach a variable 60 — so it might be rough
65Anonymous2026/08/27(木) 00:48:58.77ID:9yo7O/Jy0
It evolved from the original through Dark Arisen to Dragon's Dogma Online, going beyond just 'more shaking' all the way to Super Saiyan Blue God-tier improvement
and then Dragon's Dogma 2 reset it back to base Kaioken Goku
throwing away all that accumulated feedback was almost impressively bad, in the worst way
67Anonymous2026/08/27(木) 00:56:35.55ID:o+t0wj7R0
>>65
Nah, that's totally wrong — you're just an armchair player who never actually touched it lol😅 dabooo

It was sitting at Dogma 1.5, and everyone thought '2' had finally dropped, but turns out it was actually just Dogma 1.7😓

And NOW, with this one, it's finally become true Dogma 2😆 godlike

Honestly it might've even caught up all the way to like Dogma 2.3☺
68Anonymous2026/08/27(木) 00:58:49.41ID:9yo7O/Jy0
No, it's not '1.7' or whatever — it flat-out regressed
71Anonymous2026/08/27(木) 01:05:50.07ID:QQACedSk0
>>68
Where exactly did it regress, though😅

If you think 'spam a strong spell in a cramped dungeon and it feels great~' is what makes Dogma good, you're barely qualified to talk about the series🥵
82Anonymous2026/08/27(木) 01:55:05.38ID:so8nT8vx0
Dogma 2's fun though

>>79
It's getting buffed, so it'll be fine
88Anonymous2026/08/27(木) 02:46:43.91ID:P29o76xe0
>>79
Were you seriously just an armchair player😅
75Anonymous2026/08/27(木) 01:30:13.43ID:pq5yNTIa0
What made the original Dark Arisen fun was the multi-layered, three-dimensional dungeon design, and the hack-and-slash loop of diving in for strong weapons and fusing them
Back then you could play forever without ever needing to leave Bitterblack Isle
Is Dark Arisen 2 built the same way?
76Anonymous2026/08/27(木) 01:32:32.85ID:dZK823P/0
>>75
For what it's worth
I thought traveling together with your pawns was fun
even by the standards of the time
84Anonymous2026/08/27(木) 01:57:58.23ID:UAQPCt8N0
Wasn't this the one that blew up over the Dragonsplague thing?
85Anonymous2026/08/27(木) 02:36:54.43ID:J9Z2Bqod0
>>84
Personally, the worst part for me is that you only get one save slot
87Anonymous2026/08/27(木) 02:46:13.67ID:BK1psThd0
>>84
That's just another armchair player getting baited by attention-farming posts on X, as usual😅
You have to trigger it on purpose for that to even happen, y'know😅

At the end of the day, starting out with a whole long journey's worth of prep is the real appeal of Dogma☺

But the complaint was more like 'Marathon's Dogma, nothing's actually changed'☺

Also stuff like calling it 'open world' while the paths are basically fixed☺

That's exactly why even fans were calling it 'Dogma 1.7'☺
