  • Chinese Netizens Long for Anime-Style School Life, Admit China’s Is ‘Study, Study, Study All Day’

A Chinese X (Twitter) user’s post went viral after declaring, “I long for a student life like in Japanese anime — in China we’re up at 6am, in bed at 10pm, and stuck at school for 16 hours a day.” On 5ch, the post kicked off a thread where users traded real photos of Chinese schools alongside comparisons of Japan-China education costs, GDP, and trust rankings, with the discussion snowballing from simple sympathy into a full-blown national power showdown.

    Translated from Chinese

I genuinely, desperately want to study in Japan. China’s approach to education is unbelievably high-pressure — up at 6am, lights out at 10pm, stuck at school for 16 hours a day 😭 I wonder if people overseas can really understand this feeling? I’d love to live even one day as a Japanese student, but sadly that’s just a fantasy. Tomorrow I’m back in that “prison” again. I’m going to save up and make it to Japan someday, for sure.

Shocking: Chinese makers now hold nearly 50% of Japan's TV market
    https://news.yahoo.co.jp/articles/c2bca30ba1871a2a74a8c6f7db33284f70d5ccd9

Chinese home appliance giant 🇨🇳Hisense took the #1 spot with a 40.4% share, while 🇨🇳TCL came in third at 9.5% — together the two companies command 49.9% of the market.

Hisense, which claimed the top spot, acquired Toshiba's (formerly Toshiba Visual Solutions) TV brand "Regza," and boosted Regza's competitiveness through supply-chain sourcing and business-division restructuring. On top of that, Hisense has also been waging an aggressive low-price offensive under its own brand, and has carved out a solid position in the Japanese market.
Backed by excellent cost performance, it's winning over Japanese consumers too, and the old idea that "if you're buying appliances, buy Japanese" seems to be fading.

    Background and Key Points

Background readers need: schools like Chongqing Nankai Liangjiang and the “papered-over” Tianjin Binhai library are part of China’s hyper-competitive gaokao system, where elite feeder schools run boarding-military schedules (roughly 6am–10pm) built to produce the scores needed for a shrinking pool of top-university seats. This is not standard for all of China’s ~180 million secondary students — it’s the “super middle school” model (the Hengshui-style approach) reserved for high-achievers chasing an edge in a brutally oversubscribed exam. On the Japanese side, the “anime school life” the original poster longs for is itself a nostalgic, softened image; Japan had its own decades of exam-hell juku culture before 2000s-era “yutori” reforms eased hours, and Japanese students today still average the least sleep among the 33 countries cited in the thread.

The thread didn’t really stay split on education — sympathy for the Chinese student was nearly unanimous early on, and the real fault line was whether that sympathy should translate into “Japan is still better off” or “China is now winning anyway,” with posters pivoting to GDP growth, billionaire counts, AI rankings, and appliance market share (Hisense/TCL’s ~50% of Japan’s TV market) as proxies for national decline.

What’s likely misunderstood: several “China is #1” claims posted (AI leadership, trust rankings) are cherry-picked or sourced from single infographics rather than robust comparative studies, and the Asahi “most trustworthy countries” link doesn’t actually support the ranking claimed. No one in the thread mentioned that Hisense’s TV dominance came partly from directly acquiring Toshiba’s Regza brand, not from out-innovating it.

  • App Promising Chats With Ryza Cuts Off Free Users After 2 Messages, Caps Subscribers at 15 Per 10 Days — 5ch: “They’re Taking Us for Fools”

An app advertised as letting fans “chat with Ryza” from the Atelier series has caused a stir after users discovered that the free tier cuts you off after just two messages — and even paying for the subscription only gets you 15 chats per 10 days. The 3-day free trial also silently converts into a full annual plan unless canceled within 2 days. On the thread, commenters piled on complaints about the pricing, comparing it to VTuber donation costs and standard AI token rates.

Nah, stuff like this actually sticks around for a while — they just mark up the server costs and pocket the difference. No voice recording expenses either.
Cloud coding AI is locked in a brutal price war with local PCs, but for character-chat services the cloud side dominates and there's barely any competition.
Steam's still ruled by the RTX 4060, so unless they pull off something like linking two PS5s together, local AI probably won't catch on for gaming anytime soon

    103AnonymousAug 25, 2026 17:10
    Re: #94
If they made it free or unlimited, the servers would get overwhelmed, so they have to keep it expensive
You'd think everyone would get bored quickly and traffic would stabilize, but then a global version might launch, so it's hard to say if prices will actually drop
China has regulations on this stuff, so just like game consoles during COVID, this might actually go up in price too

    Background and Key Points

The Atelier series, published by Koei Tecmo’s Gust studio, is a long-running alchemy-RPG franchise, and Reisalin “Ryza” Stout became its breakout mascot after 2019’s Atelier Ryza, spawning both a mainline sequel run and the mobile spin-off Atelier Resleriana that posters reference as already having a “gacha” reputation. This chat app appears to be a licensed tie-in letting fans converse with an AI version of Ryza — but the free tier stops at two messages, and even the paid plan (around ¥6,000/year per one poster) caps out at 15 exchanges per 10 days, with a 3-day trial that auto-converts to a full annual subscription unless canceled within 2 days, a classic dark-pattern subscription trap common across Japanese mobile apps.

The thread doesn’t converge on outrage alone — it splits over whether the price is actually unreasonable. Several posters compare it favorably to VTuber “oshi-katsu” spending, where superchat-style comments can cost far more per interaction, arguing AI chat is comparatively cheap; others insist any cap this tight, especially on a “official” character product, is an insult regardless of comparison.

What outsiders may not grasp is why the caps exist at all: generating conversational replies via cloud LLMs incurs real per-message compute cost (tokens), unlike a VTuber’s fixed voice/video overhead — a point posters raise but don’t fully unpack. Also glossed over: the “just run it locally on two PS5s/Switch 2s” suggestions are technically naive, since consumer consoles lack the interconnects (like NVLink) needed to pool GPU memory for large models, something the thread never corrects.

I don't know the details, but even with the flood of anime adaptations lately, there are countless "Narou" web novels out there — surely something has to show a certain level of popularity before it gets an anime, right?
I checked the wiki and it turns out this one won an award in the "Shousetsuka ni Narou" category of the HJ Novel Award, first half of 2021.
The books only started coming out in 2022, the content toned down the graphic violence compared to the web version, and it's still unfinished — I feel like the secret's hiding somewhere in there.

Simple answer — the only HJ Bunko title without an anime that can actually publish real cumulative sales figures is "Kuro no Senki."
So right now they're basically adapting whichever titles they want to push.

Innocent girls and children got killed, but the way Ellie herself never dirties her own hands — just manipulates others into doing the killing — that's the absolute scummiest part.
If Ellie had killed the children herself, at least her resolve for revenge would come through, good or evil aside, but as it stands it just feels shallow.
So this is what "nausea-inducing evil" actually looks like.

Say what you will about Ryuunosuke Uryuu and Gilles de Rais from Fate/Zero — psychopaths who turned little girls into human organs — but at least they understood how differently they saw the world compared to everyone else, got their own hands dirty, and shouldered the hatred themselves. That's a lot better.
They're nothing like this pathetic trash, who massacres people for petty, self-satisfying reasons while worrying about how readers will see them, too gutless to even smile in front of a kid's corpse.

In most other works where a kid gets killed off, there's usually some reason on the victim's side — they're a villain, a side character, whatever.

    Won't she just escape though?

    Background and Key Points

The genre here is Japan’s long-running “isekai revenge/villainess” boom, and this show sits downstream of two overlapping traditions: the “Shousetsuka ni Narou” web-fiction platform, where amateur writers post serialized fantasy for free, and the light-novel-to-anime pipeline that scouts hits from it. “The Enraged Lady Has Sworn Revenge” won an HJ Novel Award (Hobby Japan’s imprint, HJ Bunko) in the first half of 2021, didn’t get print volumes until 2022, and is still unfinished — a much thinner pedigree than genre giants like Overlord, whose Ainz Ooal Gown is the reference point posters kept reaching for, or HJ Bunko stablemates like Seirei Gensouki and Eiyuu Ou, each reportedly past four million copies sold.

The thread wasn’t really split on whether the violence was excessive — most agreed 85 dead townspeople, including children, is extreme even by revenge-fantasy standards. The actual fault line was about culpability: whether Ellie is a compelling dark protagonist because she owns her revenge, or something worse precisely because she orchestrates the killing through others and never gets her own hands dirty, which posters contrasted unfavorably with even Fate/Zero’s serial-killer characters.

What outside readers likely won’t catch is the sales joke: “selling so well they can’t even publish the total print run” is sarcasm — Japanese publishers routinely tout print totals for hits and go quiet on underperformers, so silence signals weak sales, not success. Also worth knowing: posters noted the author reportedly walked back the story’s violence after reader backlash, meaning the version airing may already be a softened cut of a harsher web original.

  • Illegally Parked Prius Halts Keio Bus for 23 Minutes in Shibuya — 5ch: ‘Just Push It Out With a Truck’

An illegally parked Prius in Shibuya brought a Keio Bus to a 23-minute standstill, sparking a wave of discussion online. On 5ch, users speculated about how much the driver got fined, repeatedly pointed out that there was a coin-operated parking lot just steps away, and one commenter even floated the radical idea of just pushing the car out of the way with a truck. Some argued the real problem was running a bus route down the narrow Inokashira Street in the first place, expanding the debate beyond the parking violation itself into the state of the road.

    Background and Key Points

The “Prius” in the headline carries baggage for a Japanese audience that doesn’t translate directly: in Japanese online culture the model has become shorthand for reckless or clueless driving, partly from a wave of elderly-driver pedal-confusion accidents involving the car’s automatic transmission. Keio Bus is one of the private operators running fixed routes through Shibuya’s older, narrow streets like Inokashira-dori, roads that predate car ownership on this scale and were never widened for two-way traffic plus a full-size bus. Illegal parking in Japan is normally a flat administrative penalty — roughly ¥18,000 and a few license points, handled by parking-enforcement officers, not police — which is why posters were fixated on that number rather than anything more severe.

The thread’s real disagreement wasn’t about the fine; it was over who structurally caused the standstill. One camp blamed the driver outright, especially once it emerged the illegally parked spot sat a few meters from an empty coin-operated lot. The other camp shifted blame to the road itself, arguing that running a scheduled bus down a street that narrow was the actual design failure, with some suggesting alternate routing via Koen-dori.

What the thread never engages with is the legal distinction the source article’s headline actually hinges on: illegal parking is a traffic-law matter, but forcing a public bus to sit idle for 23 minutes could separately expose the driver to a civil damages claim or even “obstruction of business” (業務妨害) liability — a much rarer, intent-dependent charge distinct from the routine parking ticket posters assumed was the full extent of the consequence.

  • Nozomi Tsuji Reveals What She Won’t Let Her Kids Do: ‘I Never Said Rivers Are Totally Safe’ — 5ch: ‘Life Jackets Aren’t Cute’

Talent Nozomi Tsuji (39) revealed on her YouTube channel that she has never told her kids “rivers are totally fine.” With summer vacation underway, she says she’s also struggling with how much money is appropriate to give her high-school-age eldest son when he goes out with friends.

The thread kicked off with doubts like “Is there even anywhere to play in a river in Tokyo?” followed by a stream of comments about the limits of life jackets and the dangers of river currents.

    8/25 (Tue) 12:30

Talent Nozomi Tsuji (39) updated her YouTube channel “Tsuji-channel” on the 23rd, revealing something she doesn’t allow her kids to do.

The video was filmed just before the kids’ summer vacation began. Tsuji confessed she’s unsure of “the going rate” for how much to give her high-school-age eldest son for lunch money with friends, adding, “It doesn’t stop at just lunch. Things like ‘I want to go to the pool’ or ‘everyone wants to go here’ start piling up.” She lamented the start of summer break.

Rivers are genuinely dangerous — you don't float well and the water's freezing.
Cold water stiffens your muscles so you drown fast, and the riverbed is slippery so you fall easily.
Once you fall, you're suddenly submerged head to toe in cold water and can't move — and that's it.

    114AnonymousAug 25, 2026 16:27
    Re: #113
Can just picture that being said super fast in one breath.

    Background and Key Points

Nozomi Tsuji rose to fame as a member of the idol group Morning Musume before marrying actor Shunsuke Kazama; the couple has five children born in close succession, and Tsuji’s YouTube channel “Tsuji-channel” has become a long-running documentary of raising them, which is why an offhand parenting rule from her draws a 5ch thread rather than staying private. The geography question that opens the thread is worth clarifying for non-Japanese readers: Okutama, the area posters cite as “somewhere to swim in Tokyo,” is a mountainous district in the far west of Tokyo Metropolis, some 60km from central Tokyo, so it’s administratively “Tokyo” while feeling nothing like it — hence the confusion in the thread and the joke about a welcome-party heckler denying it counts.

The actual split isn’t over whether rivers are dangerous — nobody disputes that — it’s over whether banning kids from them is prudent caution or overprotection that stunts self-reliance, with posters pointing to their own supervised childhood river play as a counterexample.

What the thread never quite establishes is why Tsuji singles out rivers rather than the sea, and several posters (26, 31, 77, 104) end up assuming she’d ban the sea too, purely by their own extrapolation — that’s an inference, not something she said. It’s also worth knowing that Japanese river drownings are disproportionately linked to sudden depth changes and cold, spring-fed undercurrents even in shallow-looking water, which is the real hazard behind the “life jackets aren’t foolproof” comments rather than mere overcaution.

Japan has historically had a strong sense of property rights.
In the law, ownership rights are protected extremely thoroughly, while claims/obligations are relatively weakly protected.

She was working herself, so she should've had money of her own.
That's exactly why people are saying it's an illness.

    Background and Key Points

Credit card theft in Japan is prosecuted under fraud and theft statutes, but in practice first-time, low-value cases like this one are often resolved through a private settlement (jidan) with the victim, followed by non-prosecution (fuki-so) or a suspended sentence rather than jail time. That is the backdrop for posts treating a criminal record as avoidable — the real consequence for someone from an elite family is less the legal penalty than the reputational one: her name and face circulating nationally, and the loss of her Keio SFC standing and the megabank offer. Keio University, and its Shonan Fujisawa Campus (SFC) referenced in the thread, is one of Japan’s most prestigious private universities, making the case newsworthy on pedigree alone, especially with a credit-card-company CEO as her father.

The thread’s real fault line is diagnostic, not moral: several posters read the theft as kleptomania — an illness that persisted from childhood and was likely covered up rather than treated — while others read it as entitlement or an “antisocial personality,” pointing out she had both a part-time job and presumably parental money, so scarcity wasn’t the driver either way. A second, smaller split concerns consequences: whether her father will actually face professional fallout, or whether — as the “elite privilege” posts argue — status and gender (marriage erasing a criminal record) will insulate the whole family.

What’s easy to miss is the post explaining why theft draws such disproportionate attention in Japan: property (bukken) rights are exceptionally strongly protected in Japanese civil law relative to contractual claims, a legacy of the feudal land-tenure system — which is why even a ¥1 million theft, not a violent crime, is enough to make someone a national news subject.

    Background and Key Points

Sponsors and animation committees in Japan rarely greenlight a series on artistic merit alone. A TV anime’s production committee — the group of publishers, ad agencies, toy makers, and streaming platforms that fund a show — decides what airs based on projected merchandise sales, existing IP recognition, or tie-in deals, not fan sentiment. “Mii-chan and Mr. Yamada” appears to be one of these projects: something posters expected to get cancelled or downgraded, which instead secured a January 2027 broadcast slot. Anime seasons in Japan run in quarterly cycles (winter/spring/summer/fall), and a firm start date this far out signals the funding and studio slot are already locked in — a nontrivial commitment in an industry where many announced projects stall or quietly vanish before airing.

The thread itself didn’t debate the show’s quality, plot, or cast — there’s no substantive discussion of “Mii-chan and Mr. Yamada” content at all here. The split, such as it is, comes down to a single sarcastic exchange: one poster says the news “serves the haters right” (65→70), implying there had been prior skepticism or criticism the project wouldn’t happen, while the next reply (79) credits the outcome not to the show’s merits but to sponsor money — “sponsors truly are invincible.” That’s the entire tension: vindication versus cynicism about why the anime got made.

What outside readers will likely misread is the tone of “sponsors are invincible.” It’s not an accusation of wrongdoing — it’s a standard, almost affectionate cynicism in Japanese anime-fan culture, acknowledging that commercial backing decides greenlights more than audience demand does. The rest of the thread (game livestreams, GIFs, a Kagawa Prefecture photo) is unrelated derailment typical of these boards and has no bearing on the anime news itself.

  • “Why Are Japanese Game Heroines Always Beautiful Young Girls?” Sparks Debate on 5ch

A female fan of Dynasty Warriors posed a question on a 5ch message board: why are the series’ female characters, without exception, always beautiful young women in their teens to early twenties, as if stamped out of a mold?

The thread saw a flood of pushback along the lines of “these are commercial products — if there’s no demand, they won’t get made,” while others pointed to counterexamples like Elden Ring’s withered old-woman NPCs, God of War, and Horizon’s Aloy, and still others argued the characters are modeled on real historical beauties, so it’s only natural.

Given the time period these games are set in, basically nobody's overweight, so slim is the norm. And most of the beauties are based on actual historical beauties or the wives of great men, so it checks out. It's not like they made some grubby farmer's wife a playable character.

Games are basically the one place you get to control a young, good-looking avatar, right? Dragging in weird "realism" doesn't make it more fun. Imagine a light-novel protagonist with superhuman powers, except instead he's got a totally average body, no special abilities, no brilliant intellect to escape danger, isn't some reincarnated hero saving the world every other chapter — just a poop-producing machine who commutes to the office, has zero romantic encounters, works all day, comes home, eats, and sleeps. Who's reading that novel? Who's playing that game?
    98AnonymousAug 25, 2026 15:12
    Re: #95
There are plenty of popular dramas and manga about some middle-aged guy just eating a meal, so depending on how it's written, that could actually work.

    Background and Key Points

Dynasty Warriors (Shin Sangoku Musou in Japan) is Koei Tecmo’s hack-and-slash franchise built on the 14th-century Chinese epic Romance of the Three Kingdoms, running since 2000 across dozens of entries. Its female roster — Diaochan, Da Qiao, Xiao Qiao, Yue Ying among them — draws on the “Four Great Beauties” of Chinese legend and lore, figures with almost no surviving physical description beyond later folklore calling them beautiful. 5ch, the successor to 2channel, is Japan’s largest anonymous forum network, and threads like this one are a regular venue for gripes about anime-adjacent character design. For readers unfamiliar with the genre, it’s worth knowing that “beautiful young woman” character design is not unique to this series — it’s the industry default across Japanese, Chinese, and Korean commercial games, which several posters raised as if it settled the argument.

The thread didn’t really split over whether young-and-beautiful characters exist — everyone agreed they do. It split over whether that’s a defensible design choice or a lazy one: one camp treated it as simple market logic (no demand, no product), pointing to Returnal’s aged Selene or Bayonetta’s poor sales as cautionary tales, while another camp cited Elden Ring, God of War, and Horizon Zero Dawn as proof that non-idealized women can headline successful games.

What nobody addressed is that the male cast gets the same idealization — handsome, youthful warriors — which undercuts the “historical accuracy” defense raised repeatedly, since there’s no more documentary basis for the men’s appearances than the women’s. It’s a stylistic convention being retrofitted as historical fidelity.

I was pretty nervous about my first guitar ever having a Floyd Rose, but apparently with this Floyd Rose-type you don't have to cut the ball end off the strings, so it turned out to be surprisingly easy

I've been wanting a Playtech SG lately

I hate side-mounted jacks on the body
    I like top-mounted ones

but I let mine go for the reason above

    Re: #36
If you're not playing in front of people,
do you even need a multi-effects unit?

I've got a ZOOM bass multi-effects unit hooked up to my guitar
    one with a built-in looper
actually I only bought it for the looper function,
but I've never once used it as a looper lol
    the presets sound really good,
so I own two of them — one just for presets
and I use the other to dial in my own tone

I just happened to see it on YouTube — there was someone using a Mooer GE300 to recreate early B'z's Rockman sound, and I thought I wanted to copy that, so I've been going back and forth on it. But even though it's old, it's not exactly cheap either, so I'm still torn

Set your amp to the EVH 5150 model, cab to EVH too, gain around 2 for a clean tone, add a Blues Driver-model stomp box for moderate overdrive, and throw on a light plate reverb — that'll get you a HISASHI (GLAY guitarist)-ish sound

    Background and Key Points

Buys were prompted by a fairly ordinary gear-flex thread, but the model chatter underneath it needs some unpacking for a non-Japanese reader. Posters identify the guitar as an old signature model tied to Tak Matsumoto (“TAK”), guitarist of B’z — the two-person rock act (with vocalist Koshi Inaba) that is one of the best-selling music groups in Japanese history, built around a technical, effects-driven guitar style with roots in 1980s Rockman processors. That pedigree is why the thread pivots so fast from a “gross color” joke into serious gear talk: Floyd Rose-style locking tremolos, prized for dive-bombing without going out of tune but notorious for slow, fiddly restringing since the string locks at the bridge and nut instead of just winding onto a tuning peg; and floor multi-effects units like the Mooer GE300, which model amps and stompboxes in one box, an approach much home-practice guitar culture in Japan leans on instead of mic’ing a real amp.

The actual disagreement in the thread is narrower than “the guitar looks cool” — it’s whether an aging modeler like the seven-plus-year-old GE300 is still worth owning when newer, cheaper units (posters name SONICAKE’s QME-20) reportedly outperform it, with some arguing digital gear ages out fast and you should just buy whatever’s current, and one poster countering that non-performing bedroom players may not need a dedicated multi-effects unit at all.

What’s easy to miss without band context: TAK and GLAY’s guitarist HISASHI are separate figures from separate bands — B’z and GLAY were rival chart-toppers through the 1990s and 2000s — so chasing “early B’z” Rockman tone versus dialing in an EVH 5150-based “HISASHI” amp setting are two distinct target sounds, not one player’s career. Also unstated: locking-tremolo hardware being non-interchangeable across brands is an industry-wide norm, not a Yamaha quirk, which is why a “no need to cut the ball end” convenience becomes a minor selling point rather than a given.

  • Chunichi Manager Kazuki Inoue Wants to Stay On Next Season Despite Team’s Slump — Dragons Sit Dead Last

After opening the season with five straight losses, the Chunichi Dragons have never recovered and now sit in last place. Manager Kazuki Inoue has signaled he wants to continue next season, but 5ch users are split — debating the team’s chances in the third-place race, the lack of any real successor, and the front office’s rebuilding strategy.

    57AnonymousAug 25, 2026 12:39

That was clearly because the front office just wasn't putting in any effort. They ran the draft themselves, and the only real outside reinforcement was Garber.

Even if the pennant's out of reach, the Climax Series is totally within grasp. Their last CS appearance was 2012, so even that alone would be an achievement.
    63AnonymousAug 25, 2026 12:41
    Re: #56
It was pointless. Abe ended up coming back and becoming a starter anyway, and Sunada, who was supposed to replace Kyoda, got cut. They drafted position players and still ended up with zero regular outfielders, and in the infield Muramatsu and Fukunaga are only passable. On top of that the pitching staff is a wreck — I have no idea what they were even going for.

They just swept the Swallows (six straight wins if you count the series before that), and people are still being this negative. Today's three-game set against last-place Hanshin at the Dome is the real key.
    79AnonymousAug 25, 2026 12:47
    Re: #73
More than the Hanshin series, sweeping the Friday-Saturday-Sunday set at Hama Stadium (Yokohama Stadium) is what would actually get them into the third-place race.
    124AnonymousAug 25, 2026 13:10
The real mistake was making "Pink" the manager in the first place. Nothing changes unless they overhaul the front office itself, the way Hanshin did.
    126AnonymousAug 25, 2026 13:10
    Re: #124

    127AnonymousAug 25, 2026 13:11
    Re: #124
They probably did it on purpose — someone's got to be around to pull the boneheaded plays…

    Background and Key Points

The Chunichi Dragons are one of NPB’s oldest franchises, owned outright by the Chunichi Shimbun newspaper rather than a conglomerate that treats baseball as a marketing arm — a structural difference from teams like Hanshin (Hanshin Electric Railway) or Yomiuri, and it’s part of why posters keep calling the front office cheap rather than just unlucky. The team’s last real golden age was under Hiromitsu Ochiai (2004–2011), whose defense-first, low-scoring style won a Japan Series but got mocked as boring; the current last-place slump, following the roster teardown pushed by former manager Kazuyoshi Tatsunami (nicknamed “Datsu”), is what makes commenters compare today’s lineup unfavorably to even the tail end of the Tsuyoshi Yoda era. Kazuki Inoue took over from Tatsunami, and the thread isn’t united on the basic question of whether he should stay: some argue no realistic replacement exists (Ibata and Yoshimi already discredited by their WBC coaching), others insist the rebuild itself was pointless and demand a front-office purge like Hanshin’s, and there’s a real split on whether a Climax Series berth — something Chunichi hasn’t reached since 2012 — is even plausible this year.

What’s easy to miss without NPB context: the Climax Series only takes the top three finishers, so “third place” chatter isn’t about winning the pennant, just scraping into the postseason at all. Also unstated in the thread is that Nagoya’s Aichi Prefecture is one of Japan’s wealthiest regions (Toyota’s home base), which is exactly why posters casually assume attendance and profit will hold up regardless of on-field results — a comfort other struggling franchises don’t have.
