  • Hello! Project Members Who Joined in the Reiwa Era: Only 4 Have Quit So Far — 5ch: ‘Turnover Rate Is Way Too Low’

A post on 5ch’s Hello! Project board claimed that “of the members who joined during the Reiwa era, only four have actually quit: Rio Kitagawa, Shiori Yagi, Kanami Ishiguri, and Sumire Tashiro.” In the tenure rankings, Erina Ikuta tops the list at 5,301 days, with several members having stayed active for over five years. The thread split into two camps: some argued the agency has shifted away from its old “graduate them and let them earn as solo acts” policy toward keeping members long-term to earn as a group, while others countered that unpopular members should instead be cut loose when their contracts come up for renewal.

By the way, here are the currently active Hello! Project members who joined during the Reiwa era:
    16 Yua Kudo 2004/09/28 2019/06/14
    17 Rea Matsunaga 2005/07/07 2019/06/14

Wait, BEYOOOOONDS actually joined during the Heisei era?
    9AnonymousSep 3, 2026 13:32
    Re: #6
Their major debut was in Reiwa, but they'd already joined Hello! Project back in Heisei 30 (2018).
    15AnonymousSep 3, 2026 13:36
    Re: #6
The major debut announcement landed on the very last day of Heisei, so the members themselves technically just barely made it in under Heisei.
    14AnonymousSep 3, 2026 13:35
Just cut the ones with no future already.

Homare and Mei (fan nickname for Homare Okamura and Airi Yamazaki) will soon pass Haruna Iikubo's tenure, and once they do, that's officially veteran territory, I'd say.

    Tenure as of 2026/09/03:
    5,301 days — Erina Ikuta
    5,102 days — Sakura Oda (2012/09/14–)
    4,818 days — Ayumi Ishida
    4,714 days — Mizuki Fukumura
    4,356 days — Miki Nonaka (2014/09/30–)
    4,329 days — Sayumi Michishige
    4,285 days — Maria Makino
    4,084 days — Akane Haga
    3,918 days — Risa Niigaki
    3,775 days — Reina Tanaka
    3,728 days — Masaki Sato
    3,687 days — Ai Takahashi
    3,280 days — Reina Yokoyama
    2,887 days — Eri Kamei
    2,695 days — Kaori Iida
    2,635 days — Haruna Iikubo
    2,630 days — Homare Okamura / Airi Yamazaki (2019/06/22–) 👈

Those numbers are all off by one day — the math's wrong.
    51AnonymousSep 3, 2026 14:02
Re: #22 is also calculating elapsed days from join date to graduation date (or today), not actual tenure in days — same mistake.
    24AnonymousSep 3, 2026 13:43
The old agency was obsessed with churning through joins and graduations, using Chisato Moritaka as their model case for building talent who could also make it solo. Looks like they've now started steering toward keeping people earning within the group long-term instead, in step with the times.
When you've already sunk cost and time into one talent, having her graduate and waste that investment is a real opportunity loss for a company.
As long as the member herself wants to keep working in the group, it's smart to keep her earning — and with the whole "graduation as a business model" approach losing its shine, seeing older idol acts like Kawaii Lab's group actually sell well is bound to make management rethink things.
    27AnonymousSep 3, 2026 13:45
    Re: #24
Big factor was two things colliding at once: Miyamoto's solo push turning into an obvious failure, and Juice=Juice blowing up as a whole group thanks to the "Moreme" craze (a viral photogenic filter/selfie trend). Kojima Hana's addition also opened the door to accepting "reborn" members [idols who left one group to join another], so going forward Hello! Project is going to look nothing like it used to.
    38AnonymousSep 3, 2026 13:54
    Re: #24
Completely agree, but if they're keeping Hello! Project members long-term, I still want them to firmly tap the shoulder of the seriously unpopular ones once they hit the 5-year mark. Don't let them hog a precious spot — give the new girls a shot instead.
    32AnonymousSep 3, 2026 13:48
They officially declared Sayumi Michishige's tenure as "4,329 days" at her graduation, so that's just how it is now.

    Re: #32
That was just staff being dumb enough to take a Wikipedia miscalculation at face value.
    48AnonymousSep 3, 2026 14:00
    Re: #32
Sayumi Michishige's actual tenure was 4,330 days, but at her graduation concert they announced 4,329.
Instead of the actual number of days she was a member from January 19, 2003 to November 26, 2014 (4,330 days), a calculation slip meant they announced the elapsed days between those two dates (4,329 days) instead.
    34AnonymousSep 3, 2026 13:50
If anything this is the worst-case outcome — it's turned into a system where people who shouldn't even be there stick around forever. BEYOOOOONDS, Tsubaki Factory, Hirayama, Goto… it's bad.
    37AnonymousSep 3, 2026 13:54
    Re: #34
The reality is that just as "Mita" (a fan nickname for a cluster of veteran members) is finally about to be wiped out, "Taniko" (another such nickname) is still hanging on.
    39AnonymousSep 3, 2026 13:54
Even so, Morning Musume already cleared out its backed-up dead weight in one go, so that clogged-up feeling has eased a lot. The only "what do we even do about this?" case left is pretty much Saniko, and even that's starting to get thinned out.
    42AnonymousSep 3, 2026 13:55
    Re: #39
Akiyama's leaving, but Tanimoto, Ono, and Onoda — all even older than her — are still hanging around.
    41AnonymousSep 3, 2026 13:55
If Nonaka, Ise, Danbara, Inoue, Tanimoto, Saniko, and the BEYOOOOONDS members all cleared out at once, spots would finally open up.

    Re: #41
There are plenty of members the same age as Ise, but nobody brings them up.
Probably because Yumeriai and Moreiruru (fan nicknames) are around, they still get treated as the young ones.
    43AnonymousSep 3, 2026 13:56
Hello! Project runs on 5-year contracts, so figure everyone stays at least 5 years. Beyond that, fine if they stay as long as they personally want — but I think anyone under a certain popularity line should just be forced to graduate.

It's contradictory that Zukki got cut as surplus after just 5 years, while Haga stuck around for 11.
    50AnonymousSep 3, 2026 14:01
    Re: #43
There are way too many staff who deserve cutting before any Hello! Project member does, so short of something extreme, no member is actually getting cut.
    56AnonymousSep 3, 2026 14:07
I mean, Hello! Project is a solid agency where you can do steady idol work, right? You get to put out CDs, do live shows. Sure, if you look at the very top there are groups doing better, but in terms of overall idol rankings, aren't they pretty much always somewhere around the top 10?
    67AnonymousSep 3, 2026 14:17
    Re: #56
About the only one you could call top-10 on the idol rankings right now is Juice=Juice.
As an agency, sure, they're consistently somewhere around the top 10 — it's just that the ones above keep rotating constantly.
    63AnonymousSep 3, 2026 14:15
Skilled members are fine staying long-term whether they're unpopular or veterans — the real problem is when performance quality drops. That said, I want the younger members to keep polishing their own performance without cutting corners too.
    68AnonymousSep 3, 2026 14:17
    Re: #63
Juice is basically the only success story though, and even that owes a lot to Danbara and Inoue's personalities. Morning Musume and Tsubaki Factory are basically hell by comparison.
    71AnonymousSep 3, 2026 14:19
Saniko gets made fun of a lot, but if she and Tanimoto both vanished at once, it'd genuinely be over. Even Akiyama should probably keep going if she can.

    75AnonymousSep 3, 2026 14:23
    Re: #72
22 or 23 is still plainly young. If we're talking about some run-of-the-mill idol who's all about looks, sure, age would be a fair concern. But Hello! Project demands real skill, so as long as they've got that locked down, I think they can stick around a lot longer.
    73AnonymousSep 3, 2026 14:21

As idols they're no good unless they're teens. Once they end up like Momoiro Clover Z or voice actresses [who keep going well into adulthood], it's over — it just becomes pure buddy-buddy fan service, and the creepiness stops being the fun, ironic kind and turns genuinely creepy.

There are idols out there who keep going well past 30, even after marriage, so honestly I think today's Hello! Project fans' values are just outdated at this point.

Background and Key Points of This Topic

Hello! Project has members like Sayumi Michishige and Mizuki Fukumura who’ve stuck around for the long haul, but the agency has also followed a model in the past of repeatedly bringing in and graduating members to match demand. The “5-year contract” mentioned in the thread is treated as a rough benchmark, and contract renewal time tends to be the fork in the road for whether a member stays or leaves. In recent years, groups like Juice=Juice — together for a long stretch now — have scored hits, and since the solo-career-focused promotion model hasn’t always panned out, some point to a shift toward valuing polish and completeness over youth. It’s also worth noting for readers that this kind of tenure-day mix-up (actual days as a member vs. elapsed days since joining) has caused real errors before, as it did at Sayumi Michishige’s graduation — so these figures are prone to the occasional slip.

'Senshuraku,' lol — it's just the tour finale.

Background and Key Points of This Discussion

In May 2017, Ariana Grande experienced a bombing at her own Manchester concert venue that killed 22 people. Ever since, her weight fluctuations have drawn public attention every time she appears in public, and most of the posts expressing concern over her being ‘too thin’ this time around fall along that same line. It’s worth noting that the article itself offers no insight into how Grande herself feels about her body — these are outside observers’ speculation. The thread also included comments poking fun at the fact that ‘senshuraku’ (a term borrowed from sumo and kabuki meaning the final day of a run) isn’t a direct translation from the original English-language article but a phrase chosen for Japanese headlines — a reminder that word choice when summarizing overseas news into Japanese can easily create confusion or a sense of mismatch. On top of that, a fair number of commenters took a cooler view, pointing to the rise of same-generation artists like Sabrina Carpenter and Olivia Rodrigo as a sign of generational turnover.

  • Is Living in Tokyo Worth It? 5ch Divided as User Fires Back: “¥150,000 for a One-Room Apartment — Not Worth It”

A 5ch thread kicked off with a post claiming “there are plenty of benefits to living in Tokyo,” and the discussion quickly expanded to cover rent, packed commuter trains, and comparisons with other regions. Arguments citing the abundance of jobs and shops were met with a wave of counterpoints about high rent and low disposable income, and comparisons to Kyoto and neighboring prefectures like Saitama and Chiba came up too. Some pointed out that how livable Tokyo feels depends heavily on whether you’re single or married, while others took a cooler view of the one-upmanship aimed at people from rural areas — turning it into a debate that couldn’t be settled as simply better or worse.

Background and Key Points of This Discussion

Tokyo’s average rent far exceeds the national average, and surveys showing Tokyo ranking near the bottom for disposable income (income minus living costs) regularly make headlines. This thread kept circling back to that point, with opinions split over which matters more: the convenience of abundant jobs and shops, or the burden of high rent and packed trains. The comparisons to Kyoto and neighboring prefectures like Saitama and Chiba also reflect a simmering debate over Japan’s heavy concentration around Tokyo. Note that such rankings and figures vary by survey and year, so the more definitive claims in the thread shouldn’t be taken as hard fact.

  • Rakuten Mobile to Auto-Cancel Accounts Not Linked to Rakuten ID by End of November — Phone Numbers Will Be Lost Too

Rakuten Mobile has announced plans to automatically cancel contracts — and let the associated phone numbers lapse — for subscribers who haven’t linked their account to a Rakuten ID, effective end of November 2026. After ITmedia’s report was picked up on 5ch’s Business News+ board, posters voiced anxiety about losing numbers they’d used for years and questioned why linking a Rakuten ID should be mandatory at all. Some pointed to concrete reasons accounts go unlinked — shareholders giving away perk SIMs, or lines left dormant just to pad contract quotas — and opinions split over whether the real goal is cracking down on fraudulent contracts or simply corralling users into Rakuten’s membership ecosystem.

I bet people who were using Rakuten just as a backup/secondary number will move over to Povo (au's low-cost sub-brand).

Background and Key Points of This Discussion

Rakuten Mobile has long encouraged linking accounts to a Rakuten ID, but this latest move goes further — automatically cancelling the contracts of anyone who hasn’t linked. Behind this is a history of boosting subscriber numbers through shareholder perks and steep MNP discount campaigns, which appears to have left a certain number of lines that are essentially unused. There’s also a broader trend of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications pushing carriers to tighten identity verification as a countermeasure against illegal SIM sales and scam-related fraud, so making ID linkage mandatory may be part of that effort. In the thread, reactions were split between concern that this could push more users toward switching carriers, and the view that it’s a reasonable anti-fraud measure. For users who’ve kept the same number for years, the article alone doesn’t make clear whether this kind of cancellation condition was disclosed at the time they signed up, and it’s also unclear just how many people will actually be affected.

It has come to light that Toei Animation never granted official licensing approval for the “Dragon Ball Park” project announced by French President Emmanuel Macron on his own social media account. Surprise has spread over the fact that a plan significant enough for a head of state to announce publicly hadn’t been confirmed with the rights holder beforehand. On 5ch’s Entertainment/Sports News+ thread, the topic blew up, with users questioning how the plan moved forward without authorization, pointing out similarities to past unauthorized character facilities, and noting that Japan itself doesn’t even have an official Dragon Ball theme park.

    Re: #69
If anywhere, it'd make sense to build it in Aichi, Toriyama's hometown
    No real competition there either

Background and Key Points of This Story

Toei Animation’s denial that it “never granted approval” means no licensing agreement is currently in place — this article alone doesn’t clarify whether the theme park plan itself has been cancelled. As for precedent involving Japanese characters being used overseas without authorization, the case of Thailand’s Chaiyo Productions is well known: the company claimed rights to Ultraman and ended up in a years-long legal dispute with Tsuburaya Productions, and several thread comments drew comparisons to that case. At the same time, a number of posts in the thread lump France, South Korea, and China together under a blanket “copycat culture” label — but that’s a separate issue from the actual point of contention here, which is the procedural failure to confirm rights before making a public announcement, and the two should be read separately. Meanwhile, the observation that “Japan itself doesn’t even have an official Dragon Ball park” is accurate — there is currently no large-scale, permanent theme park in Japan dedicated to Weekly Shonen Jump properties.

  • Ocarina of Time Remake: Rumor Emerges That Monolith Soft Is the Developer

A product page for what appears to be a Switch version of “The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time” showed up on the Norwegian electronics retailer site “elkjop.no,” setting off a wave of remake speculation on 5ch’s Hardware/Industry (Geha) board. The big question was who’s actually developing it, with many pointing to Monolith Soft, which previously helped with asset creation and programming on “Breath of the Wild” and “Tears of the Kingdom.” The thread was split: some expect a full-blown remake — overworld included — if Monolith is involved, while others worried, citing past remakes handed off to outside studios that flopped (like “Front Mission” and “Star Fox”).

If Monolith Soft is the lead developer, the overworld's probably going to be great.
That would mean it's not some Super Mario RPG-style remake, but a serious one where the whole field gets turned into an open world.
That's what Monolith Soft's involvement implies.
You can bet it won't be some cheap remake — it'll be one they actually poured effort into.
The second Monolith got attached, my hype shot way up.
I'd figured it would just be a graphics-polish job like the Mario RPG remake.

Just like with Ocarina of Time, the job listing vanished shortly before the announcement.
Meanwhile, Tetsuya Takahashi's new RPG is still hiring for it, so that one probably isn't Genesis.

What matters most is the supervision.
Skimp on that and you end up with something like Front Mission.
    45AnonymousSep 3, 2026 11:31
Why would they outsource the remake of such an important first-party title entirely?
So they've got a built-in excuse if it flops?
And if it ends up being a key card release on top of that (a cartridge that's just a download code, no actual game data), it definitely won't sell.
    47AnonymousSep 3, 2026 11:32

Monolith's just got a lot of headcount.
They're kind of a small-time game company whose only in-house IP is Xenoblade, and only a limited number of staff even work on that.
Everybody else is basically a subcontracted temp worker for Nintendo.
    77AnonymousSep 3, 2026 12:12

Monolith Soft is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Nintendo. While it develops the “Xenoblade” series in-house, it has also joined Zelda development — handling asset creation on “Breath of the Wild” and, from “Tears of the Kingdom” onward, contributing on the programming side as well. Past Zelda remakes have been handled by Grezzo, but since that’s a small studio reportedly busy developing its new title “Chiisana Eiyuu” around the same time, commenters in the thread doubted it could take this one on. Worries about a remake led by an outside studio stem from precedents like “Front Mission 1st: Remake,” which took a reputational hit due to thin oversight, and lingering dissatisfaction with “Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl,” which another company handled. At the same time, there’s a persistent counterargument that Monolith, being so close to Nintendo itself, is a fundamentally different case from ordinary outsourcing.

*This article is compiled as excerpts and a summary from the 5ch (Hardware/Industry (Geha)) thread “Ocarina of Time Remake — Is Monolith Soft the Developer?.”

  • Falcom President Kondo: ‘Most New Users Are Coming from Switch and Steam’

Nihon Falcom president Toshihiro Kondo discussed the company’s future platform strategy in an email interview. The Trails (Kiseki) series has mostly centered on PlayStation until now, but with the Trails in the Sky remake, Falcom took the plunge into a company-led worldwide simultaneous release that included Switch and Steam (PC) — and says it got “an extremely strong response.” On 5ch’s Hardware/Industry (Geha) board, the comment sparked debate over the series’ history of PlayStation exclusivity, and over whether “lots of new users” means actual sales numbers or just a higher share of new users relative to existing ones.

Nihon Falcom’s representative director and president, Toshihiro Kondo, spoke about the company’s future platform plans. For the Trails in the Sky remake, the company took on a self-led worldwide release that included Switch and PC (Steam), and reportedly got “an extremely strong response.” He also indicated that going forward, some degree of multiplatform, worldwide releases will likely become the standard approach.

In an email interview with ASCII.jp, Kondo explained that while the Trails series had mainly been built around PS5 up to now, with Trails in the Sky the company challenged itself to lead a worldwide rollout that also included Switch and PC (Steam).

He noted that with brand-new entries, the scenario often isn’t finalized until right before master-up, leaving no time to also handle overseas versions. Trails in the Sky, by contrast, could draw on existing assets, which made it easier to manage — and once it actually launched, they got “an extremely strong response.”

The Trails series was never PlayStation-exclusive.

    * Early era (2004–): Started on PC (Windows), then became a huge hit on PSP.
    * Middle era (2013–): Released as timed/full exclusives on PS3, PS Vita, and PS4, cementing its image as "a PlayStation game."
    * Now (2021–): Released almost simultaneously on PS5/PS4, Switch, and Steam (PC) — fully multiplatform.

    Background and points of debate

The Trails (Kiseki) series began on PC back in 2004, became a hit during the PSP era, and from 2013 onward was released as a timed or full exclusive on PS3, Vita, and PS4, which is how it earned its image as “a PlayStation game” (see the rundown at reply #24 in the thread). From 2021 the series gradually went multiplatform, and with this Trails in the Sky remake, president Kondo has now explicitly said the simultaneous release got a strong response. The thread split over whether “lots of new users” refers to actual sales figures or just a higher proportion of new users relative to existing ones, with some also questioning the unsourced sales estimates (reply #3). Views diverge between those crediting the sales rebound to dropping PS exclusivity, and those who see it as simply reflecting broader adoption on other platforms.

  • The ‘✌😅✌’ Emoji Combo Is Going Viral on a Japanese Live-Chat Board — And Users Are Fighting Over Who Started It

On a thread on the “Nandemo Jikkyo” board (a Japanese live-commentary imageboard), posters spammed the ✌😅✌ combo — a sweating/nervous-face emoji 😅 sandwiched between two peace-sign emoji ✌ — turning it into a minor trend. This kind of emoji fad flares up on live-commentary boards again and again, and this round was no different: a small dispute broke out between posters claiming to be the “original” user of the combo and others dismissing them as copycats. Meanwhile, the thread didn’t stay on the emoji topic at all — it veered through regional banter about Sanuki udon, reactions to a popular game’s character rollout, and trivia about the retro game Dokuganryu Masamune, in the kind of scattershot chat log typical of these boards.

    Background and Talking Points

“Double Peace” (ダブピー) is slang for the combo of a startled/sweating-face emoji 😅 sandwiched between two peace-sign emoji ✌. This kind of emoji fad crops up periodically on the Nandemo Jikkyo board, and it’s practically tradition for an argument to break out over who used it first. In this thread, the friction isn’t really about board etiquette so much as a clash between posters claiming to be the “originator” and others writing them off as copycats — and it’s worth noting these claims amount to nothing more than self-reported bragging on 5ch. As is typical for this board, the thread also drifts through unrelated tangents with no real throughline — regional banter about Sanuki udon, trivia about the game Dokuganryu Masamune, and chatter about a popular game’s character rollout. Readers should keep in mind this isn’t a thread debating one topic, but a real-time chat log, and should read it with that in mind. Exchanges containing personal insults or discriminatory language have been excluded from this article.

  • Ashida Mana to Star in Live-Action ‘The Apothecary Diaries’; 5ch: ‘Feels Like Ito Sairi Would Fit Better’

Hinata Natsu’s novel “The Apothecary Diaries” (Kusuriya no Hitorigoto) has been confirmed for a live-action drama adaptation starring Ashida Mana. Toho and Amazon MGM Studios are co-producing the series, which will stream exclusively worldwide on Prime Video in over 240 countries and regions starting in 2028. The screenplay is by Yoshida Erika (“Tora ni Tsubasa”), and the director is Yuki Saito, known for “Unmet.” The original novel has sold over 57 million copies worldwide including foreign translations, and an anime film adaptation is also set to open on December 11. On the 5ch “Entertainment/Sports News+” thread, opinions split over casting for the lead role, Maomao — with some pushing for Ito Sairi or Hashimoto Kanna — plus speculation over who’ll play Jinshi, and debate over the gap between the original’s “secretly gorgeous under the makeup” setting and Ashida Mana’s public image.

A live-action drama adaptation of Hinata Natsu’s novel “The Apothecary Diaries,” starring Ashida Mana, has been greenlit. Toho and Amazon MGM Studios are co-producing the project, which will stream exclusively worldwide on Prime Video across more than 240 countries and regions starting in 2028. Yoshida Erika, writer of “Tora ni Tsubasa,” is handling the screenplay, while Yuki Saito, director of “Unmet: A Brain Surgeon’s Diary,” is directing. A teaser visual has now been unveiled.

“The Apothecary Diaries” is set in the harem of a fictional empire, following Maomao, an apothecary raised in the red-light district, as she uses her pharmacological knowledge and sharp powers of observation to unravel incidents and conspiracies within the palace. Published by Hero Bunko (Imagica Infos), the series has sold over 57 million copies worldwide, including foreign-language editions. The TV anime adaptation, which began airing in 2023, has also proven highly popular, and the anime film “The Apothecary Diaries the Movie: The Deceased Consort’s Treasure” is set to open on December 11.

For the live-action series, Toho and Amazon MGM Studios — the team behind the TV anime adaptation of “The Apothecary Diaries” — are joining forces again. Production spared no expense on set design, costumes, and VFX, with roughly six months of filming carried out on a large-scale set recreating the world of the imperial harem.

The whole world's about to discover how cute Mana-chan is

    Re: #140
Right, that is a little worrying 🥺
    144AnonymousSep 3, 2026 12:49
Maomao's whole thing is that she's secretly beautiful. Ashida Mana isn't really a great beauty, so I still say Hashimoto Kanna would've been better.
    150AnonymousSep 3, 2026 12:49
    Re: #144
Hashimoto Kanna's image is already too locked-in for it though

I genuinely don't get what's supposed to be interesting about this

This is aimed at aunties who are into Korean dramas and the like
Even if you try your hardest to get it, you're never gonna understand it in this lifetime

Background and key points of this topic

“The Apothecary Diaries” is a novel series by Hinata Natsu published under Hero Bunko; its 2023 TV anime adaptation proved highly popular, and the franchise has sold over 57 million copies worldwide including overseas translations. In recent years Amazon MGM Studios has been aggressively acquiring live-action rights to popular Japanese manga and novels, and this simultaneous worldwide release on Prime Video is part of a broader push to expand Japan-originated IP overseas. The thread’s main point of contention was casting — specifically whether Ashida Mana’s image fits the original setting, in which Maomao hides her true beauty behind makeup but is “actually gorgeous” underneath. One easy point of confusion: Nomura Kota, floated as a candidate for the role of Jinshi, isn’t mentioned in the article itself — that’s unconfirmed information sourced from a Bunshun report. While the announcement of key staff like the director and screenwriter is confirmed, casting for co-stars is still awaiting further updates.

Regarding their future together, she commented, “I want to walk through life together, treasuring our small, quiet happiness.” The thread on 5ch’s Geinou/Sports Breaking News+ board filled up with a mix of shock and congratulations, but many posters kept confusing her with fellow actress Rina Takeda—who shares the same surname and was active around the same period—sparking both nostalgic mentions of shows like “Amazons” and “Isekai Izakaya Nobu” and disagreement over just how well-known she actually was.

Nooooooo, I'm ridiculously shocked right now…
why won't you marry me instead?!
    5AnonymousSep 3, 2026 12:24
She was always the type to bring up guys herself, so I doubt many people are heartbroken over this.
    9AnonymousSep 3, 2026 12:26
    Must be nice being happy.
Share a little with me, would you.
    12AnonymousSep 3, 2026 12:26
I only know her from "100-Man-En no Onnatachi" (Women of 1 Million Yen) and "Oi, Handsome!" (Japanese TV dramas)
    13AnonymousSep 3, 2026 12:27
The moment you land Rena Takeda, you're already not a "non-celebrity" anymore.
    14AnonymousSep 3, 2026 12:27
Different person from Rina Takeda, the karate-trained action actress
    from "Wakako-zake" (Wakako's Sake).
    78AnonymousSep 3, 2026 12:39
    Re: #14
That's exactly who I mixed her up with lol
I still remember her role as the high school girl sold into the sex trade to pay off her parents' debt in "Kiyamachi DARUMA"…
    15AnonymousSep 3, 2026 12:27
Oh, the one who never quite broke through. Cute, but no offense, her face was kind of big.
    16AnonymousSep 3, 2026 12:27
And just like that, we've lost another actress who can actually do action……
    18AnonymousSep 3, 2026 12:28
Didn't she announce her number of past partners in some magazine once?
    21AnonymousSep 3, 2026 12:28
She was still in her 20s?
    This girl was cute.
    22AnonymousSep 3, 2026 12:28
Her high school girl role in "Amazons" was super cute
Didn't she also put out some weird song?
    28AnonymousSep 3, 2026 12:29
I told her not to announce it…
this is a problem. (joking as if secretly her boyfriend)
    30AnonymousSep 3, 2026 12:30
The Takeda from "Wakako-zake" (Rina Takeda) is pushing 40, by the way.
    31AnonymousSep 3, 2026 12:30
She played a detective in the April-season TV Asahi drama "The Unsolved Woman," but she's gotten a lot sturdier-looking compared to how slim she was
    back at her gravure debut.
    35AnonymousSep 3, 2026 12:30
Reminds me a bit of Risa Yoshiki. Hope this one finds happiness too.
    36AnonymousSep 3, 2026 12:31
I could only ever remember her as "the Takeda who doesn't do karate."
    38AnonymousSep 3, 2026 12:31
She did gravure modeling for a while,
but she was oddly super skinny, which didn't really work for her.

    Re: #1
    "Non-celebrity" 👉 bet he's some late-blooming guy who's about to become a J-League player.
    40AnonymousSep 3, 2026 12:32
Non-celebrity man (sketchy startup CEO, probably)
    50AnonymousSep 3, 2026 12:34
    63AnonymousSep 3, 2026 12:35
I never did figure out where her popularity was supposed to come from
Well, guess that's over now too.
    64AnonymousSep 3, 2026 12:36
    Re: #63
She probably wasn't that popular, honestly
she just had a lot of work.
    80AnonymousSep 3, 2026 12:40
Felt like I'd seen the name before,
but I look at her face and draw a blank
Doesn't seem like she has a signature role either.
    85AnonymousSep 3, 2026 12:41
    Re: #80
Her signature role is probably the heroine in "Isekai Izakaya Nobu," directed by the "genius" Yu Shinagawa.
    95AnonymousSep 3, 2026 12:42
Back when she was doing gravure work, she was huge on 5ch too — threads about her were popping up all the time.
    102AnonymousSep 3, 2026 12:43
    Re: #95
    Oh really?
Guess that's why her name rang a bell for me?

    Background and Talking Points

The phrase “non-celebrity man” is standard wording used in celebrity marriage announcements in Japan, employed to keep the partner’s job and age private. Guesses floating around the thread—like “startup CEO” or “J-League player”—are pure speculation with no basis. The actress repeatedly confused with her, Rina Takeda, is a different actress known for karate-based action roles and the show “Wakako-zake,” and since the two share a surname and were active in similar periods, mix-ups are common. Rena Takeda herself has appeared in a wide range of work, from gravure modeling to shows like “Amazons” and “The Unsolved Woman,” but opinions in the thread are split—some say they can’t recall a signature role or question how popular she really was, while others fondly recall her past work—showing that assessments of her name recognition vary widely.
