  • 26% of Correspondence High School Graduates Have No Set Career Path — 5ch: “If You Can’t Even Make It to High School, I Doubt You Can Make It to a Job”

A new report highlights a growing gap: as correspondence high schools (tsūshin-sei kōkō, part-time/distance-learning schools) rapidly absorb more students with a history of school refusal (futōkō), career-support systems at these schools haven’t kept pace. Even though the job-offer ratio for high school graduates remains a seller’s-market 3.6-to-1, a full 26% — one in four — correspondence high school graduates reportedly finish school with no set career path. On 5ch’s Breaking News+ board (ニュース速報+, one of the site’s main current-events forums), the thread split between harsh skepticism over whether correspondence-school students can hold their own in the workplace, and pushback arguing that plenty of people with a history of school refusal go on to become perfectly capable working adults. Some commenters also pointed the finger at the private-school subsidy system itself, suggesting it’s fueling an oversupply of correspondence high schools.

Hiring screenings for high school graduates, which began on the 16th, continue to reflect a seller’s market with a job-offer ratio of 3.6-to-1. Correspondence high schools, meanwhile, see one in four students graduate with no set career path. Even as enrollment surges — driven largely by students with a history of school refusal — many of these schools still lack the know-how to provide adequate career guidance.

In mid-September, at the Tokyo campus of Shiseikan Koto Gakuin (in Meguro, Tokyo), a staff member from Jinjibu — a company specializing in job-hunting support for high schoolers — gave a lecture on interview preparation.

The school operates as a “sa[tellite campus]…” affiliated with the correspondence-based Kashima Gakuen High School (Kashima City, Ibaraki Prefecture)…

My daughter stopped going to school in middle school because of some kind of orthostatic dysregulation disorder, so we reluctantly enrolled her in a correspondence high school where she only had to show up twice a week.
As she got older her symptoms improved and getting good grades turned out to be a breeze — she got to pick basically any university she wanted through the designated-school recommendation system lol.
Felt almost like cheating, it was that easy. She could pick whatever school was on the list lol.
She actually could've gone somewhere fairly well-known, but she said she didn't want to spend that much time commuting,

    Probably, yeah…

Background and Key Points of This Topic

Correspondence high schools have grown rapidly in recent years as a safety net for students with a history of school refusal (futōkō). Because private schools receive subsidy funding tied to enrollment numbers, there’s a built-in incentive to advertise aggressively to pull in students, and commenters on the thread pointed to exactly that structural incentive. At the same time, the “3.6-to-1 job-offer ratio” cited as evidence of a seller’s market applies to high school graduates as a whole, not specifically to correspondence-school graduates — and neither the original article nor the thread clearly separates the two, so it’s unclear whether correspondence-school graduates are actually sharing in that same favorable market. Commenters also brought up cases like figure skater Ami Nakai, shogi player Sota Fujii, and figure skater Yuzuru Hanyu, who chose correspondence schools to balance their sport or discipline with academics — but these are exceptional students who already had a clear path forward, a very different situation from the 26% who graduate with no set plans at all. Keeping that distinction between the exception and the average in mind is a useful frame for reading the article as a whole.

  • Beat Takeshi: “You Need the Guts to Sneak Off Golfing Behind Your Boss’s Back” — Comedian Sounds Off on Post-Retirement Hobbies

During a segment on Japan’s super-aged society on TV Asahi’s “Beat Takeshi’s TV Tackle,” aired September 20, comedian Beat Takeshi (79) shared his personal views on how to live after retirement. Prefacing his remarks by noting he dropped out of college and has never worked as a company employee, he argued that “unless you have the guts to sneak off golfing or fishing behind your company’s back while you’re still working, it’s hard to keep it up as a hobby after retirement.” On 5channel’s Entertainment/Sports News+ board, this sparked a clash between those who countered that “you can start in retirement as long as you have free time and money” and defenders who argued “if you don’t start while you still have the stamina, you won’t keep it up,” with many users sharing their own experiences of how hard it is to find a hobby in old age.

    9/21 (Mon) 15:29

Entertainer Beat Takeshi (79) appeared on TV Asahi’s “Beat Takeshi’s TV Tackle” (Sundays at noon), aired on the 20th, where he shared his personal views on what people should do before retiring amid Japan’s super-aging society.

That day’s episode was billed as a “Thorough Investigation Special: How to Wisely Survive the Super-Aged Society.” At the top of the show, after watching footage of elderly people who keep working even after receiving their pensions just to make ends meet, Takeshi began, “I’ve never really had a proper job, so I honestly don’t get it.” He continued, “I dropped out of college and went straight into show business. But in our world of entertainers, more people end up hitting what would be retirement age than ordinary people do,” he remarked quietly.

Background and Key Points of This Discussion

Takeshi himself dropped out of college and went straight into show business, so he’s never experienced retirement as a salaried company employee. Precisely because of that background, the thread saw pushback along the lines of “easy for someone who’s never had a real job to say,” alongside defenses arguing that “showbiz is just as bound by shooting schedules as regular company work.” The debate essentially splits into two camps. One is the “guts” argument: that keeping up a hobby after retirement requires the same intensity you’d need to skip work for it while still employed. The other is the counterargument that “you can start in old age as long as you have free time and money” — which itself drew a rebuttal that “stamina declines with age, so putting it off is a bad idea.” Though not mentioned in the original article, various surveys have pointed out that a significant number of older men lose their sense of purpose and see their health decline after retirement, and the thread’s recurring advice to “get a head start on hobbies while still working” echoes that broader context. That said, readers should keep in mind that the specific image of “sneaking off to golf behind your company’s back” is a metaphor rooted in the old Showa-era ethic of the workaholic company man, and doesn’t quite match today’s realities of using paid leave and more flexible working styles.

  • Wrong Anthem Played, Athlete Housing Slammed as a ‘Refugee Camp’ by Foreign Media — Asian Games Organizers Under Fire

The Asian Games, underway in Aichi/Nagoya, have been hit by a string of organizational blunders. At the opening ceremony, North Korea’s anthem was mistakenly played instead of South Korea’s, prompting the Korean Sport and Olympic Committee to send a formal letter of protest. Athlete housing consists of container-style units that foreign media have described as a “refugee camp,” with reports of flooded floors from water leaks. Thailand’s delegation has also complained about the food being served. The company handling part of the event’s operations is reported to be the same one behind a payment-delay scandal at the Osaka-Kansai Expo, and a major Indian newspaper wrote that the image of “Japan always delivers” has collapsed. On 5ch, opinion is split over whether the blame belongs to Aichi Prefecture and the organizing committee, or to the outside contractor.

The Asian Games have finally kicked off, and while athletes are turning in brilliant performances, trouble keeps piling up, drawing complaints from multiple countries.

Please don't frame bureaucratic incompetence as a failure of Japanese people in general.

Background and Key Points of This Story

The Asian Games (Aichi/Nagoya) outsource part of their operations to an outside event-management company, and posters in the thread point out that the firm now drawing criticism is the same French-affiliated company reported to have caused a payment-delay scandal at the Osaka-Kansai Expo. The anthem mix-up refers to North Korea’s anthem being played instead of South Korea’s at the opening ceremony, which prompted the Korean Sport and Olympic Committee to send a letter of protest. The housing complaints center not on a proper athletes’ village but on temporary container units, which foreign media have branded a “refugee camp” — the spark for much of the criticism. Within the thread, opinion is divided over whether blame belongs with Aichi Prefecture and the Games’ organizing committee, who hold the actual contracting and oversight responsibility, or with the outside contractor that carried out the on-the-ground work. There’s also a split between posts tying this to a broader narrative of “Japan’s decline” and posts dismissing that as personal opinion. Some posts cite specific figures like GDP rankings, but where no source is given, these are presented here as thread commentary rather than verified fact.

*This article is excerpted and summarized from the 5ch (News Express+) thread “From the anthem mix-up to housing complaints — organizational trouble piles up at the Asian Games, as overseas observers ask whether ‘Japan’s reputation for flawlessness’ still holds.”

  • Wolverine’s Metascore Jumps from 6.3 to 7.0 Amid New-Account 10/10 Ratings Flood — Fans Call It ‘Unnatural’

The Metacritic user score for Marvel’s Wolverine, the PS5-exclusive title developed by Insomniac Games, has been swinging wildly over a short period — 6.4 → 6.7 → 6.4 → 6.3 → 6.8 → 7.0 — sparking discussion on 5ch’s “Hardware/Industry (Geha)” board. Posters noted that every time the score dipped, a surge of 10/10 ratings from brand-new accounts would push it back up, and the thread increasingly floated the theory that this reflects “organized manipulation by Sony.” Around the same time, the score for the Chinese game Wan Zi Qian Hong (万紫千紅), seen as a rival title, also dropped from 9.3 to 9.0, leading some to speculate — without evidence — that it was retaliatory downvoting. Who exactly is behind it remains unidentified, and opinions in the thread are divided.

    1AnonymousSep 21, 2026 20:35
Thousands of 10/10 ratings from new accounts posted in just a few days — don't you think Sony's overdoing it here?
Meanwhile Wan Zi Qian Hong has been hit with a barrage of suspiciously low reviews, dropping all the way from 9.3 to 9.0.

If manipulation like this gets exposed, it's not just wasted effort — it backfires, it's a double-edged sword.
That's exactly why it's usually done through third-country or underground communities, using disguises and impersonation.
The companies that do it openly and brazenly are the ones from countries where ethics and international norms are broken — like China or Israel lol.

This almost feels like it's begging people to go blame Sony.

The major retailer chart had it sitting at a 60-something ranking, which looks like it's right at Sony's rock bottom.
There's been no early sales report at all.

There's this vague 6-million-unit quota tied to the Marvel deal,
and development costs so high that anything less than full price puts it in the red.

If this desperation gets bad enough,
Marvel might end up refusing to license any future games besides Spider-Man.

    Re: #97
Of course it's different from their in-house projects — Marvel's involved and there's a sales quota attached.

Background and Key Points of This Debate

Anyone can post a Metacritic user score just by registering an account, and since the platform doesn’t disclose its aggregation methods or fraud-detection criteria, a sudden flood of very high or very low scores in a short window naturally invites suspicion of manipulation. In this case, no evidence has been presented that Sony’s head office (SIE) is directly involved — the thread itself offers several competing theories, from “maybe it’s Insomniac” to “maybe it’s a third-party overseas community,” without reaching a firm conclusion. The claim that “there’s a contract clause penalizing them if the user score drops below 7.0” is likewise unsourced speculation. Whether the wave of negative reviews hitting the Chinese game Wan Zi Qian Hong around the same time was retaliation or just coincidence also hasn’t been confirmed. The score’s wild swings are an objective fact verifiable on Metacritic itself, but most of the explanations for why it’s happening are speculation from the 5ch thread — worth keeping that distinction in mind while reading.

  • Biggest Debate Over Anime’s Most Tear-Jerking Scene Ever: 5ch Weighs In With “I’m Tired, Patrasche”

A thread asking “What’s the most tear-jerking scene in anime history?” popped up on 5ch’s Nandemo Jikkyo G (Live/Anything Goes) board. Nominees ranged widely — “I’m tired, Patrasche” from Dog of Flanders, the clubroom scene after the school festival in K-On!, CLANNAD, Violet Evergarden, Toradora!, Re:Zero, Slam Dunk, and Trigun — with each poster championing whatever title hit them personally. One post naming K-On! sparked a mini-argument by claiming that “if that scene doesn’t make you cry, it proves you’ve never been in a club,” splitting opinion in the thread.

    Background and Key Points

Threads debating the “most tear-jerking scene ever” are a recurring staple on 5ch, and the titles that come up vary widely depending on each poster’s generation. This time the lineup spanned everything from 1975’s Dog of Flanders to the 2010s’ Violet Evergarden. The friction in the thread came from several posts that named a specific scene and then flatly declared “if you don’t cry at this, you just lack life experience” — a stance that drew notable pushback around both K-On! and CLANNAD. There was also a correction regarding the Slam Dunk scene cited as iconic: a poster pointed out that the moment in question was actually never animated and only appears in the original manga, highlighting how the “famous scenes” people remember don’t always match what was actually adapted.

  • UK First-Week Sales: Wolverine Triples Death Stranding 2’s Numbers, Fire Emblem’s Fortune’s Weave Down 26% from Three Houses

The UK’s weekly physical software chart became a hot topic on 5channel’s Hardware/Industry (Geha) board. Marvel’s new game “Wolverine” reportedly opened at roughly three times the first-week sales of “Death Stranding 2” — but since Death Stranding 2 itself had a weak launch, down 66% from its predecessor, opinions were split on whether that was really a fair comparison. Meanwhile, the new Fire Emblem title “Fortune’s Weave” sold 26% below “Three Houses,” though some argued it was actually holding up well once you factor in the difference in console install base between the two launches.

Three Houses was a long-tail hit that racked up numbers over time.
Engage was probably selling pretty well in its first week too.

    Background and Talking Points

This kind of UK first-week data is compiled by industry watchers from GfK’s physical sales charts, and since actual unit sales aren’t publicly disclosed, posters in the thread noted that these numbers can really only be discussed as relative comparisons between titles. Death Stranding 2 already had a rough showing, down 66% from its predecessor, so stacking a “3x” comparison on top of that looks flashy — but the impression changes a lot depending on the baseline being compared against. As for the new Fire Emblem title, a 26% drop from Three Houses looks like a step back at face value, but since Switch’s install base was far smaller when Three Houses launched, opinion in the thread was split on whether a straight sales comparison is even fair. Posters also pointed to factors that don’t show up on the charts, like the ratio of physical to digital sales — which is exactly why it’s hard to draw firm conclusions from a single first-week snapshot like this.

*This article is compiled from excerpts and a summary of the 5channel (Hardware/Industry [Geha]) thread “[Sad News] UK: “Wolverine sold 3x what DS2 did, Fortune’s Weave down 26% from Three Houses”.”

  • Switch 2’s Fire Emblem: A Thousand Blooms Takes 140 Hours to Clear — Bigger Than Dragon Quest VII

Regarding the new simulation RPG Fire Emblem: A Thousand Blooms, a Switch 2 exclusive, a walkthrough site’s estimate of clear time became a hot topic on 5ch’s Hardware & Industry (Geha) board. Even a speedrun-style playthrough done specifically to build the walkthrough reportedly took 140 hours — surpassing the roughly 70 hours for the 3DS version of Dragon Quest VII and the roughly 100 hours for Persona 5. Opinions were divided between surprise that a 140-hour clear report had appeared so soon after launch, and speculation over how long an actual playthrough — including repeat runs — would really take.

This sets a kind of benchmark for how much content Nintendo packs into its ¥9,980 premium-priced games — but if Xenoblade gets bumped up to ¥9,980 and tries to match this scale, the padding and busywork could get brutal.

Coming from the PS5, which has almost no exclusives left compared to the PS4 era, that just sounds hollow.

    Background and Key Points

It’s worth noting that the “140 hours” figure is a walkthrough site’s estimate from testing the shortest possible route, not the time an average player would feel they spent. Like Fire Emblem: Three Houses, this title has a three-part structure with multiple protagonist routes, so clear time varies a lot depending on whether you play through every route. While some want this level of volume from a ¥9,980 Nintendo title, the thread showed no consensus — there was skepticism that a 140-hour clear report appeared so soon after launch, and disagreement over how to estimate time assuming repeat playthroughs. A point readers can easily get wrong: this figure isn’t the “minimum time needed to clear” the game, but playtime under the special conditions of building a walkthrough.

On 5ch, this sparked a wave of people sharing their own “traumatic movie” stories — everything from vivid scene-by-scene memories like the hammer scene in Misery, to the names of directors like Gaspar Noé and Lars von Trier, both known for films that leave viewers feeling genuinely unwell. Where opinions split was over complaints that the thread was turning into a mere “name-recognition ranking” dominated by famous titles, contrasted with posters pushing more obscure picks like Aniara and The Call. There was also discussion of films like Speak No Evil, where opinions differ sharply between the original (Scandinavian) version and its Hollywood remake. Worth noting: there’s no official definition or criteria for a “traumatic movie” — this is simply a list based on each poster’s personal, subjective experience.

  • Darvish Makes ‘One of the Biggest Donations Ever’ — After Giving Up His ¥2.35 Billion Salary, His Devotion to San Diego Continues

On September 21, Full-Count reported that San Diego Padres pitcher Yu Darvish continues to support a team charitable facility that was established in 1961. This season, sidelined all year by injury, Darvish forfeited the entirety of his contracted ¥2.35 billion salary, and this latest donation is being described as “one of the largest ever.” On 5channel, opinions were divided over the precedent set by forfeiting a salary, the tax considerations behind choosing to donate in the U.S. rather than to disaster-stricken areas of Japan, and comparisons to other athletes like Shohei Ohtani and footballer Takefusa Kubo.

Honestly, he should've just donated the money outright instead of forfeiting his salary.
He shouldn't have set this crappy precedent.
Don't go spreading Japan's idiotic values overseas.
    62AnonymousSep 21, 2026 22:43
    Re: #3
Agreed. It's a heartwarming story in Japan, but overseas they'd probably just call him an idiot.
    4AnonymousSep 21, 2026 22:20
    Don't need the 'devotion' act.
    You're a pro, aren't you?
    5AnonymousSep 21, 2026 22:20
Hey Darvish, how about buying the Chunichi Dragons?
    50AnonymousSep 21, 2026 22:37

That team won't spend money but won't sell either.
What about the Rakuten Eagles instead?
    6AnonymousSep 21, 2026 22:21
Is it awkward for him being Iranian (his father is Iranian)?
    7AnonymousSep 21, 2026 22:21
He should be donating to Tohoku earthquake or Kumamoto earthquake relief instead.
    12AnonymousSep 21, 2026 22:23
    Re: #7
Donating to Japan is a huge tax hassle.
If you donate ¥1 billion, you could end up owing another ¥500 million in taxes.
    75AnonymousSep 21, 2026 22:54
    Re: #12
Yeah, since he lives in the US, that would apply.
Chappy (net slang for ChatGPT) says it'd be around ¥250 million.
    8AnonymousSep 21, 2026 22:22
Every other MLB player, in unison: "Don't go doing unnecessary stuff!"

Are you sure you're not being shaken down for money? If something's bothering you, call a support hotline.
    11AnonymousSep 21, 2026 22:23
He's going to get frozen out by the other players.

    Forfeiting your salary — which is a player's right — like that…
It makes players who don't forfeit theirs look like the bad guys.

The kid who used to smoke at a pachinko parlor in Okinawa has really turned into a fine man.

Wasn't it Kamagaya or Ichikawa, not Okinawa?
    17AnonymousSep 21, 2026 22:24
He should donate to former pro baseball players instead.
A lot of them are broke and turning to crime.

Maybe setting up a company to help with their career transitions would be good.
    18AnonymousSep 21, 2026 22:25
    Wait, what?
He's already forfeited it, on his Padres contract?
I heard something about the Padres leaking this out of spite, forcing his hand.
    19AnonymousSep 21, 2026 22:25
He's got a lot of kids, so he might end up poor down the line.

    Hasn't he retired?
    22AnonymousSep 21, 2026 22:26
    Re: #20
    He's under contract through 2028.
He's been out all season with an injury.
And he forfeited his entire salary.
    23AnonymousSep 21, 2026 22:26
Guess Sho-hei will follow his senpai's example and donate ¥2.3 billion for sure.
The fact that he deliberately never goes past ¥50 million is out of deference to Darvish.
    25AnonymousSep 21, 2026 22:27
Darvish, who used to be such a delinquent, is turning into a saint.
    26AnonymousSep 21, 2026 22:27
    What's Ohtani gonna do now?
Since Darvish donated, he pretty much has to as well, right?
    27AnonymousSep 21, 2026 22:27
    That's insane.
Just 1% of that would do.
    Please give it to me.

    AI Overview:
In his rookie year with the Nippon-Ham Fighters, in February 2005, Yu Darvish was reported by a tabloid photo magazine for underage smoking and visiting a pachinko parlor during Okinawa spring training, and received an indefinite suspension.

    44AnonymousSep 21, 2026 22:34
    Re: #42
Nah, it's not really like that.
    65AnonymousSep 21, 2026 22:45
If Ohtani donates ¥100 billion too, I'll seriously start following his example.
    72AnonymousSep 21, 2026 22:52
    Re: #65
If you donate ¥1,000 too, maybe Ohtani will recognize you lol
    81AnonymousSep 21, 2026 22:57
This is just standard practice for celebrities in America.
Ohtani has his own foundation and does charity work too.
MLB players in particular donate a ton.
You never hear about this kind of thing in soccer though.
Do guys like Kubo or Mitoma donate at all?
    88AnonymousSep 21, 2026 23:04
    Re: #81
Even top Japanese players like Kubo and Mitoma only make a few hundred million yen a year, so don't compare them to MLB players pulling in billions.
They probably donated something to Kumamoto earthquake relief or whatever, I don't really know.
    87AnonymousSep 21, 2026 23:02
Darvish is different, but rich Americans' donations are usually about tax savings.
They go looking for other people's misfortune to throw money at.
And the recipients know it too, so they take the money without much gratitude.
    92AnonymousSep 21, 2026 23:09
    Re: #87
You only get a deduction, so donating still leaves you with less money in hand.
In Japan, with a tax-credit type donation, your net take-home stays the same.
And with furusato nozei (the hometown tax donation program) you actually get goods back, so you come out ahead.
    It's basically like begging.

Background and Key Points of This Discussion

Darvish has played for the Padres since 2018 and is known for his ongoing community contributions through the team’s charitable activities. The facility reported on this time was established in 1961, and his support is described as carrying on the wishes of the team’s former owner. In the thread, opinions were divided over the merits of forfeiting a salary as a method, the reasoning behind choosing to donate in the U.S. rather than to disaster-affected areas of Japan, and the size of the tax burden involved — though the specific tax figures and mechanisms cited varied from post to post, and no official confirmation had been established as of this article. Some posts also referenced past events, such as the 2005 reports of underage smoking, but this is a previously reported, already-known fact, and this article adds no new claims about it. Comparisons of donation amounts with other athletes like Shohei Ohtani, Takefusa Kubo, and Kaoru Mitoma also came up, but it should be noted these aren’t simple apples-to-apples comparisons given the differences in contract scale and systems between sports.

  • DaiGo Reveals His Trick for Stopping a Shinkansen Seatmate from Staring: ‘Write a Fake Assassination Plot and They’ll Move’

Mentalist DaiGo (real name Keigo Matsumaru) posted on X that he was annoyed by a fellow passenger repeatedly glancing at him on the Shinkansen, and revealed his own homemade fix for making the staring stop: writing out a realistic-looking assassination plot somewhere the person could see it, which made them get up and move away. The post was picked up by 5ch’s Geinou/Sports News+ board, drawing a mix of amazed laughter and mockery, along with accusations that the story was made up (‘usomatsu,’ 5ch slang for suspiciously convenient anecdotes) and references to DaiGo’s past controversies — leaving reactions sharply divided.

I’m on the Shinkansen right now and the middle-aged guy next to me keeps annoyingly turning his head to glance over at me.

I just play a video meant to confuse the person next to me into thinking, 'W-what is this guy even watching???'

Could you please change your name already?
    26AnonymousSep 21, 2026 22:45
This isn't the other DAIGO — the one who gets absolutely wrecked by Junko, right? (likely a mix-up with the singer DAIGO of BREAKERZ)

That guy's whole thing vanished in an instant, huh.

Depending on the seat layout, there's a chance the guy was just looking out the window at the scenery.
    36AnonymousSep 21, 2026 22:48
For a second I got startled thinking it was the DAIGO from WISH (the pop duo) who said this.
    38AnonymousSep 21, 2026 22:48
So he's showing off his inner 'menhera-list' side, huh
Pretty much business as usual for him.
    43AnonymousSep 21, 2026 22:50
Still, I can believe someone'd get up and move just because it's too creepy.
    46AnonymousSep 21, 2026 22:51
Wasn't it more like your earbuds were leaking sound everywhere, or your leg was bouncing like crazy?
    55AnonymousSep 21, 2026 22:55
So lame — the second you realize it's this guy, you just leave.
    60AnonymousSep 21, 2026 22:56
Apparently even this DaiGo is turning 40 this year.

    70AnonymousSep 21, 2026 23:03
Wait, what? Is it unreserved seating? If so, couldn't he have just moved himself?
    73AnonymousSep 21, 2026 23:05
So this is what they call 'usomatsu.'
Nobody actually looks at what the person next to them is writing.
And 'assassination' is just a lame, childish idea to begin with.
    78AnonymousSep 21, 2026 23:06
This guy was on TV with a fake persona on the same level as Daisuke Hori, going on about 'mentalism' and whatnot.
    79AnonymousSep 21, 2026 23:09
This is just collateral reputational damage for the DAIGO from WISH.
    80AnonymousSep 21, 2026 23:09
'So that is the world's choice…'
eh, not quite the right quote for this.
    83AnonymousSep 21, 2026 23:10
He's a mentalist — he should be doing this with words, not creepy notes.

Background and Key Points of This Story

DaiGo, whose real name is Keigo Matsumaru, has built a career sharing psychological techniques through books and videos, and drew criticism in 2022 over comments he made about homeless people. The ‘controversy’ referenced in the thread is believed to point to that incident. This latest post is simply DaiGo’s own account of his experience on X (formerly Twitter), with no third-party confirmation provided. The term ‘usomatsu,’ which came up repeatedly on 5ch, is site-native slang used to cast doubt on the truthfulness of anecdotal posts, often applied regardless of the poster’s actual intent. One point readers could easily misread: the ‘assassination plot note’ isn’t an actual criminal threat — by DaiGo’s own account, it was just a fictional stunt used to make the person next to him look away.
