The story
Former Fuji TV announcer Nagisa Watanabe has protested on Instagram against an online media article that turned her essay about a trip to Saudi Arabia into a definitive headline reading “Islam puts women at ease, while Japan makes women feel unsafe” — insisting “I never said or wrote any such thing.” She stated that if the content proves false, she will take action, including filing a disclosure request (a legal move to unmask anonymous posters). On 5ch, reactions were split between users pointing out that the article appeared to have originated from a 5ch summary (“matome”) site repost, and others debating how her original essay should actually be read.

Former announcer Nagisa Watanabe (29), who left Fuji TV at the end of August 2024, updated her Instagram on the 29th, issuing a warning to certain online media outlets.
In an Instagram Story, she quoted a web news piece headlined “[Sad News] Nagisa Watanabe: ‘Islam puts women at ease. Japan, meanwhile, makes women feel…’” She began, “I never said or wrote anything like what’s in this title. Please stop twisting my words to fit your own narrative and spreading it as if it were fact,” before adding, “Since this post contains false information, I will take appropriate action, including filing a disclosure request.”

she went ahead and actually ate the crab ramen that's trending right now

Ko, me, whoa, kome-kome-whoa, kokkome-whoa ♪ (a nonsense chant)
Was she really allergic to crab, or is that just a crab of an excuse? (wordplay on "kani"/crab sounding like "kana"/"I wonder")
Nice try, almost-50 (dismissive jab at an older poster)
To answer seriously: some people are "self-diagnosed" allergy sufferers — if you have an aversion to something, you can end up with allergy-like feelings or even symptoms without an actual allergy.
If you really want to know, get a multi-panel allergy test done at a hospital. Sometimes it matches what you expected, sometimes it's completely different, and sometimes you react to something totally unexpected.
When I got tested before, there weren't many surprises, though a few results were borderline. Maybe it flares up depending on your condition that day or exposure to chemical residue? Dunno though.
But "Zura" (nickname for a TV commentator known for his toupee) said Nakai can't rebut because he's bound by a confidentiality obligation
An activist for what, exactly?
What cause is she even campaigning for? If anything, she's probably just got too much time on her hands.
She's only saying it isn't true, and that deserves a proper response.
Some of the trash media get cocky and keep pulling stunts like this — if you don't want it to happen, you have to nail them down this way.
This is probably what's been happening to Nakai all along; now it seems a bit of it is landing on Watanabe too?
Malice aside, some of the trash media really do churn out pretty sloppy articles.

THE DISCLOSURE DECLARATION HAS ARRIVED ━━━━(°∀°)━━━━!!
That's exactly why they'll keep covering it — because it blows up like this.
Uh… I genuinely have no idea what that's supposed to mean.
To be precise, the actual line is:
"Islam puts women at ease. Japan, on the other hand, makes women feel unsafe."
That's it.
Searching around, all I could find were 5ch summary (matome) sites and social-media reposts of them — so I wondered what kind of "online media" this even was, checked the original post, and sure enough, it was a 5ch summary site.

So basically, whoever actually gets sued will be the person who started the 5ch thread.
Which is exactly why the one hit with the disclosure request will be whichever 5ch poster matches Re: #14 lmaooooo
Though the 5ch summary site itself is liable too — case law says that if the original post is defamatory, whoever compiled it is liable as well.
Might not be cut out for variety shows, but she seems well suited to current-affairs/social programming.
Maybe she should go interview Mizoguchi about the "Sanae Token" (a crypto token named after PM Takaichi).
If she can't even handle this when it comes to Islam, it's a lost cause.
Plus, even when her own words or behavior invite the misunderstanding, she still gets angry and says the other side "twisted" it, right?
If you connect the dots, since it's "news" that's really just a compiled summary, it ends up targeting an individual lmaooooo
If it were an actual news outlet, she'd be suing them instead lol
What's more, none of the people who actually read her essay felt anything was off about it.
If everyone came away with the same impression, that points to a problem with the writing itself, I'd say.
But summary sites and the like twisted and condensed it into a definitive headline she never wrote: "Islam puts women at ease, Japan is dangerous."
That so-called "5ch Saudi thread" had tons of posts that lined up almost word-for-word with this news lol
Why not just go dig through the archive logs? lol
It was literally just recently lol
She'd be perfect for tightening up compliance standards.
Your ID keeps flip-flopping, lmaooooo (implying they're switching IDs to fake being multiple posters)
Apparently only people whose argument is losing badly against the majority get hung up on "ID-hopping" accusations.
Yeah yeah, who cares, go home already lol
Background and Key Points of This Debate
A “disclosure request” is a legal procedure used to force a provider to reveal an anonymous poster’s identity, typically invoked when alleging defamation or copyright infringement. The thread’s central debate was over how much the controversial article actually reflected Watanabe’s own essay versus how much the wording shifted during reposting/summarizing on 5ch threads and matome sites. In replies 78 and 102, posters note past case law holding that even when a summary site writes its own headline while reposting, the site itself can still be held liable if the original post was defamatory. At the same time, it isn’t clear from Watanabe’s own post whether her warning is aimed at “every individual 5ch poster” or simply at the media outlet that ran the article. That’s the detail readers can easily misread: what she explicitly states is a response to “articles with false content,” but the actual target of any disclosure request — and the full original text of her essay — can’t be confirmed from her post alone.
*This article is excerpted and summarized from the 5ch (Entertainment & Sports Express+) thread “Nagisa Watanabe: “I never said that,” “They twisted my words and spread it as fact…” — warns certain media, “Since it’s false, I’ll pursue disclosure requests, among other measures…” [Ailuropoda melanoleuca★].”
