The story

Talent Hoshino Aki (49) posted an Instagram photo of herself with her husband, JRA jockey Kosei Miura (36), who is 13 years her junior, taken during a visit to Tokyo Disneyland. The post, showcasing the couple’s close bond 15 years into their marriage, sparked a wide-ranging thread on 5ch’s Entertainment/Sports News+ board — from talk about their age-gap marriage to Miura’s career as a jockey. The thread also noted how Miura, once hailed as a rookie on par with Yutaka Take and expected to have a bright future, didn’t land his first JRA G1 win until last year, his 18th year as a pro — making it a thread that drew as much interest from horse-racing fans as from those following the couple.

Honestly, watching Showa-retro exploration videos on YouTube is way more fun than watching Peace-kun from Omiya Park (Peace-kun = a well-known elephant mascot at Omiya Park Zoo).

Bet none of you thought this would actually last this long, huh.

Re: #3
Well, he's doing pretty well for himself.
Just keeping Miura functioning as a totally normal jockey is an achievement in itself.

Looks like he's about to get pulled off Bellwood Deep (a racehorse).

At 36 his sex drive's probably still nowhere near fading — wonder how they're gonna handle that going forward.

Re: #9
Women's sex drive actually gets stronger from here on.
The guy's the one who wears out first.

He finally bagged a JRA G1 win, so the dry spell's finally over (レス = slang for a sexless marriage).

So he went to 'Penny Land' to do some auctioning? (likely wordplay riffing on 'Disneyland')

They used to look like a mom and her kid — guess Kosei's finally caught up, age-wise.

How's Midori-chan doing? I really liked that Fuji TV girl.

Fukunaga's wife?
She was on a Kansai local info show for a while, but no idea what she's up to now.

Didn't the 'advisor' remarry someone way younger? Meanwhile these two are sticking with true love, huh.
35AnonymousOct 22, 2026 12:45
There might be some photo editing involved, but they both look like they're around 40 now, so the age gap doesn't really show anymore.

Wasn't Ebina's wife quite a bit older too? Though I think it was only about 6 years.

Even Aso-san can't help but smile warmly at this one. (a stock 5ch meme phrase referencing politician Taro Aso)

Dating must've been great at first, but who knows how it is now — kind of an Osumi Kenya situation. (Kenya Osumi = actor known for a highly publicized marital scandal)

Avoid baseball players (slangily 'yakyuu') and kabuki actors and you'll be happy.

Horror-movie actresses too.

You think so? Soccer players bring misfortune too, though.

Kosei Miura tied Yutaka Take's record for most wins by a rookie in his debut year, and everyone hyped him up as 'the reincarnation of Take' — but after that he just fizzled out… Didn't even get his first G1 win until last year, his 18th year as a pro.

Re: #65
Pretty sad that he basically picked a fight with Take in his rookie year, then couldn't beat him to a title before Take retired.
72AnonymousOct 22, 2026 13:32
Re: #65
What made it great was that his 127th G1 attempt finally paid off — and he beat out Take-san, who himself has 127 G1 wins. That coincidence was kind of moving.
75AnonymousOct 22, 2026 13:42
Re: #65
G1 wins aside, he's got over 1,000 career wins and 50 more this year alone, plus plenty of prize money. If that counts as 'fizzling out,' what do you even call jockeys who win less than Miura?
74AnonymousOct 22, 2026 13:38
Kato Cha's marriage and Hoshino Aki's marriage are both surprisingly rare cases of age-gap couples that have actually lasted. (Kato Cha = veteran comedian known for marrying someone decades younger)

Re: #74
When the guy's older, it seems to last more often, in my impression.
82AnonymousOct 22, 2026 13:54
Some athletes are the type who only stay stable with a wife 10+ years older. Must be a mental thing.

Re: #82
Athletes tend to be kind of childish on the inside, so an older wife suits them better.

Background and Talking Points

Jockey Kosei Miura made his debut in 2008, and his rookie-year performance was so extraordinary that he earned the nickname ‘the second coming of Yutaka Take.’ Surprisingly, though, he didn’t win his first JRA G1 race until last year — his 18th year as a professional — which led some in the thread to call him a disappointment. That framing can be misleading: he’s a genuinely strong rider with over 1,000 career wins and around 50 wins again this year, so conflating his long G1 drought with his overall record risks giving the wrong impression. His marriage to Hoshino Aki spans a 13-year age gap; since the wedding took place 15 years ago, Miura would have been in his early 20s around the time of his debut, making the pairing of a celebrity and a young jockey an unusual combination. The thread also traded general theories about age-gap marriage compatibility and divorce risk among athlete/celebrity couples, but none of it amounted to evidence-based analysis — beyond the couple’s own Instagram posts, nothing further is actually known about their relationship.
