Inoue and Matsunaga’s Osaka Event Falls on a Likely Kōhaku Announcement Date — Growing Theory Juice=Juice Got Snubbed Again

From our other sites

The story

It was announced that Juice=Juice’s Rion Inoue and Ria Matsunaga will appear at a Hello! Project Shop talk event in Osaka on November 14, and Hello! Project fans are buzzing over whether this overlaps with the expected candidate dates for NHK’s Kōhaku Uta Gassen lineup announcement and press conference. On the thread, fans lined up past Kōhaku press conference dates (weekdays between November 13–19 from 2020 to 2025) and cross-checked them against the group’s tour and school-festival schedule. Opinions split between those who think “Juice=Juice must have turned down Kōhaku or missed the cut this year” and those who argue “depending on the timing, they could still make both the press conference and the local event work.”

11/14 (Sat) at the Osaka store: Hello! Project Shop Osaka Two-Person Session #48 — Juice=Juice's Rion Inoue & Ria Matsunaga Talk Event — announced!

Did they get cut from Kōhaku?
3AnonymousOct 13, 2026 20:36
You really think the Morning Musume faction at Up-Front would let a lower-ranked group onto Kōhaku?
5AnonymousOct 13, 2026 20:37
Whether or not they make Kōhaku, if there's a press conference it'll probably land around here:

11/16 (Mon) 15:15/19:00 — Juice=Juice Room Tour 2026 "5ROOMS," Tokyo, Kanadevia Hall, matinee & evening shows
11/17 (Tue) 15:00/18:45 — Juice=Juice Room Tour 2026 "5ROOMS," Tokyo, Kanadevia Hall, matinee & evening shows

There's already precedent for this: °C-ute leader Maimi Yajima missed the Kōhaku lineup announcement/first-timers' press conference because she was overseas shooting a solo photobook that day.
10AnonymousOct 13, 2026 20:42
Re: #6
It'd be their first Kōhaku appearance since that °C-ute one, so
maybe the agency botched the scheduling again.
7AnonymousOct 13, 2026 20:40
With 11 members, would they even all go together?
Honestly, those two are probably just gonna be doing banzai cheers with fans at the talk event instead.
8AnonymousOct 13, 2026 20:40
They probably turned Kōhaku down —
can't have them outshining Morning Musume.
9AnonymousOct 13, 2026 20:40
Doesn't have to be everyone — as long as someone shows up.
11AnonymousOct 13, 2026 20:43
The first-timers' press conference will manage fine even without Inoue and Matsunaga.
12AnonymousOct 13, 2026 20:43
Took a little detox from the Ookami board (the old Hello!Project fan forum nicknamed "Wolf") recently, and I didn't feel even a trace of Juice=Juice withdrawal.
Just like the general public, Kōhaku's really a non-issue — but fans sure sweat every little detail.

Re: #12
More like the antis than the actual fans are the ones being super touchy about it.
16AnonymousOct 13, 2026 20:46
Re: #12
What do you even watch normally then?
13AnonymousOct 13, 2026 20:43
There's probably some reason behind the decision to pass on it.
15AnonymousOct 13, 2026 20:46
What song did °C-ute perform on Kōhaku?
17AnonymousOct 13, 2026 20:46
Re: #15
°C-ute sang "Tokaikko Junjo."
19AnonymousOct 13, 2026 20:47
Re: #17
"Tokaikko Junjo" was also the Best New Artist pick at the Japan Record Awards.
20AnonymousOct 13, 2026 20:48
Didn't know "Tokaikko Junjo" was that popular.
21AnonymousOct 13, 2026 20:49
There was a time it felt like a lock, too.
22AnonymousOct 13, 2026 20:49
Re: #14
Starting a dumb thread like this is probably an anti thing too, honestly.
A real fan just waits for announcement day thinking "hope they make it" — they don't bother with all this extra speculation.
70AnonymousOct 13, 2026 21:24
Re: #22
No need to hedge like that…
23AnonymousOct 13, 2026 20:49
What about Juice=Juice's chances at the Record Awards?
24AnonymousOct 13, 2026 20:50
Re: #23
Not even in the running — not even close.
25AnonymousOct 13, 2026 20:50
Past Kōhaku Uta Gassen press conference dates:
2020 (71st) — November 16 (Mon)
2021 (72nd) — November 19 (Fri)
2022 (73rd) — November 16 (Wed)
2023 (74th) — November 13 (Mon)
2024 (75th) — November 19 (Tue)
2025 (76th) — November 14 (Fri)

Since it's basically always a weekday, if it overlaps with a Juice=Juice event, it'd be one of these:

11/13 (Fri) — Juice=Juice Autumn Tour at Osaka
11/16 (Mon) — Juice=Juice Autumn Tour at Tokyo
11/17 (Tue) — Juice=Juice Autumn Tour at Tokyo
32AnonymousOct 13, 2026 20:53
Re: #25
Why would they even schedule a concert on a weekday during Kōhaku announcement week?
26AnonymousOct 13, 2026 20:51
If it's announced the Friday before, the show will probably turn into a Kōhaku celebration party.
35AnonymousOct 13, 2026 20:54
Re: #26
Early November is when Countdown Concert (Hello! Project's New Year's Eve show) ticket applications open, so that'll probably settle it, lol.
37AnonymousOct 13, 2026 20:55
Re: #26
Probably something like this schedule:

11/12 (Thu) — Best Hit Song Festival(?) at Osaka 👈 broadcast schedule isn't out yet, but Juice=Juice will probably be on it if this is the date

11/13 (Fri) — Autumn Tour at Osaka

11/14 (Sat) — Inoue & Matsunaga Hello! Project Shop event at Osaka

11/15 (Sun) — School festival at Setagaya

11/16 (Mon) — Autumn Tour at Tokyo 👈 the Kōhaku press conference will probably be that afternoon, so win or lose, it'll get brought up during the live show
49AnonymousOct 13, 2026 21:09
Looking at the locations and times, it seems like they can't make the press conference on any day except the 18th or 19th.
52AnonymousOct 13, 2026 21:10
Re: #49
There's nothing scheduled on the 18th or 19th though.
55AnonymousOct 13, 2026 21:12
Re: #49
Even if they do make it, being in Shibuya at midday and then heading straight to Kanadevia Hall right after the press conference wraps up should be totally doable.
51AnonymousOct 13, 2026 21:10
It'll probably just be Nogizaka46, FRUITS ZIPPER, =LOVE, and Cutie Street again.
There's no reason it'd be Juice=Juice over any of them.
The agency isn't moving at all either — they're not even lobbying to get them on.
64AnonymousOct 13, 2026 21:20
Juice=Juice gets snubbed this year
↓
Next year Morning Musume gets in for their 30th anniversary
↓
Juice=Juice fans lose their minds lol

I could totally see this happening
68AnonymousOct 13, 2026 21:24
Re: #64
What, that's completely off base.

Re: #77
Having Komi on the judging panel is actually a pretty positive sign, maybe.
79AnonymousOct 13, 2026 21:32
If they do get snubbed from Kōhaku, this place is gonna be flooded with threads lol.
Already looking forward to it.
82AnonymousOct 13, 2026 21:34
Re: #79
If they miss out this year, it makes next year's 30th-anniversary appearance look unlikely too — that'd suck.

Background and Key Points

The press conference tied to the Kōhaku Uta Gassen lineup announcement is traditionally held on a weekday in mid-November, and the thread lays out the dates for the past six years (2020–2025). Within Hello! Project, no group has appeared on Kōhaku since °C-ute did, and while the thread never states outright that Juice=Juice has no Kōhaku history of its own, that’s an assumption worth keeping in mind as background. The talk event itself is a small-scale affair at a regional Hello! Project Shop, and depending on the timing, there’s room to make both the press conference and the event work. The thread split over how to read the event’s existence — as a schedule slotted in precisely because Kōhaku wasn’t expected, or as mere coincidence — and as of this writing, NHK has not announced either the Kōhaku lineup results or the official press conference date.
