Is Juice=Juice’s Boom Hello! Project’s Win? Fans Can’t Agree

The story

In a thread posted on 5ch’s Hello! Project board, one self-described “Ebata fan” (a devoted fan, or “wota”) pushed back against the growing narrative that Juice=Juice’s surging popularity is somehow “Hello! Project’s win as a whole,” arguing that “it’s Juice that got discovered — Hello! Project itself isn’t the one blowing up.” Replies brought out a string of perspectives only hardcore Hello! Project fans would have: some pointed out that Juice=Juice’s breakthrough traces back to their appearance on the variety show “Moreemi,” others noted how rare it is for a single group to break out on its own, and still others vented about how the fan club system is structured. At the same time, plenty of posts took potshots at fans of other groups by name, keeping the thread’s mood combative throughout.

I absolutely can't stand people who twist Juice=Juice's success into "credit for all of Hello! Project"
It's Juice that got discovered, Hello! Project is

The second you know what "Rito-Kame" is — some insider-only thing from deep in "the village" (H!P fan slang for the whole roster) — you're no newcomer.

Re: #4
If anything, they say they've been watching since that audition, so that makes them a fairly seasoned old-timer.
8AnonymousOct 12, 2026 08:12
The ones who got a little bit of discovery were the Amore girls,
not Juice=Juice
9AnonymousOct 12, 2026 08:12
Re: #1
Feel free to leave, honestly.
They only got attention for a vulgar leg-raise move, and you've got the nerve to say that?
10AnonymousOct 12, 2026 08:13
I get what you're saying.
The ones calling it Hello!'s credit are exactly the ones who were trashing the Moreemi boom in the first place.
11AnonymousOct 12, 2026 08:13
Same wording as the person who kept spamming anti-Kudo/Irie threads.
18AnonymousOct 12, 2026 08:16
Juice=Juice can do no wrong, apparently.
20AnonymousOct 12, 2026 08:17
I'm just an old guy who only knows Morning Musume, but yeah, I think that too.
22AnonymousOct 12, 2026 08:17
Angerme-ota spinning "Angerme is washed up" into "Hello! Project is washed up" lol
68AnonymousOct 12, 2026 08:47
Re: #22
Don't dodge with "well Hello! Project is…" every time, Angerme-ota lol
23AnonymousOct 12, 2026 08:18
The moment you start trashing Risachi you lose all credibility.
Juice won't keep rising as long as people like this guy don't disappear.
24AnonymousOct 12, 2026 08:20
Yeah, trying to sell the whole "village" at once just doesn't work.
It took 20 years just to get one group after another to hit — Morning Musume, then Juice=Juice.
37AnonymousOct 12, 2026 08:25
Re: #24
It's not impossible — Morning Musume at their peak and AKB both managed to sell as a whole "village."
But even with producers like Kawara-Lab or Sashihara running things, some groups still struggle, so in this day and age it seems better for just one group to break out on its own.
25AnonymousOct 12, 2026 08:20
Juice only got discovered thanks to Moreemi, that's all.
Other Hello! Project groups have the same chance to get discovered, so treating Juice like they're somehow special is wrong.
26AnonymousOct 12, 2026 08:20
More than what OP's saying, it's disappointing that Moeba-ota are openly trashing Risachi.
30AnonymousOct 12, 2026 08:23
Re: #26
They're getting called out for using an Eba (Ebata) icon while trashing Risachi.
31AnonymousOct 12, 2026 08:24
You've got 9 followers on some nobody account, don't act so high and mighty.
48AnonymousOct 12, 2026 08:30
Re: #31
And that's exactly why "Oyaki" starting this thread is already a loss.
36AnonymousOct 12, 2026 08:25
Why are Moreemi newcomers always like this?
38AnonymousOct 12, 2026 08:26
Re: #36
They're not a Moreemi newcomer though.
41AnonymousOct 12, 2026 08:27
Re: #36
There's no way a newcomer would know what "Rito-Kame" is.
44AnonymousOct 12, 2026 08:28
Re: #36
What made you think they're new?
They're a textbook old-school "Juice-scum" fan (derisive slang for Juice=Juice fans) who's been around forever.
42AnonymousOct 12, 2026 08:28
Moreemi newcomers are like this too —
always making these needlessly aggressive "feelings" posts.
52AnonymousOct 12, 2026 08:34
Re: #42
They say they've had doubts since Irie joined, so they're not a Moreemi newcomer.
49AnonymousOct 12, 2026 08:32
Re: #48
An "Oyaki" fan would write "Juice=Juice" in full.
Anyone writing "Juice," "Juusu," "JJ," or "J=J" isn't an Oyaki fan.
And an Oyaki fan definitely wouldn't start a smear thread about Juice=Juice.
56AnonymousOct 12, 2026 08:38
Re: #49
Trying so hard lol, and an Oyaki fan at that lol
50AnonymousOct 12, 2026 08:33
Ebata fans are all like this.
53AnonymousOct 12, 2026 08:35
Re: #50
Well, she's a popular member, so.
59AnonymousOct 12, 2026 08:41
Juice sings in a totally classic Hello! Project style, you know.
60AnonymousOct 12, 2026 08:43
Wasn't this the person who went after a fan from another fandom who'd complained about Juice fans at G Fes?
62AnonymousOct 12, 2026 08:44
Re: #60
Stuff like that is exactly what piles up and tanks Juice's image.
67AnonymousOct 12, 2026 08:47
Forget the "credit" debate, I just want the fan club memberships split by group.
Or at least let the group you register as your favorite actually count for something, even a little.
71AnonymousOct 12, 2026 08:51
Re: #67
If you split it up, both sides go down together.
69AnonymousOct 12, 2026 08:49
Why do people who want the fan club split want it so badly?
Isn't it better bundled together? That way you can check out any group whenever you get curious.
74AnonymousOct 12, 2026 08:55
Re: #69
I can't accept that my money is going to a group I don't even like.

Background and Key Points of the Debate

Hello! Project has traditionally marketed itself as a whole “village” rather than pushing individual groups, and the thread noted that it took 20 years just to grow one group after another — from Morning Musume to Juice=Juice — underscoring the shared assumption that a single group breaking out on its own is rare to begin with. The variety show “Moreemi,” cited as the direct trigger for Juice=Juice’s rising profile, appears to have also given fans of other groups a chance to notice them. The thread split over a single question: should this attention be seen as the result of the group’s own individual effort, or as a boost from the “Hello! Project” brand as a whole? Both positions found some support. There was also repeated griping about the fan club system, which isn’t split by group, meaning membership fees flow even to groups a fan doesn’t like. Note: the thread also contained unverified claims flatly identifying certain posters as “sock puppets” posting under different IDs, but this article does not adopt those claims.

*This article is excerpted and summarized from the 5ch (Hello! Project board) thread “An “Ebata fan”: “I can’t stand people twisting Juice’s success into credit for Hello! Project. It’s Juice that got discovered — Hello! Project itself isn’t blowing up”.”
