My department manager, who's in his 50s, actually knows this stuff in detail.
Personally I have zero desire to watch any of it though.
On the radio they actually did get into Jujutsu Kaisen properly —
Ota: "So Jujutsu Kaisen is fine, then?"
Nadal: "Jujutsu Kaisen is hard, man!"
Ota: "What do you mean, hard?"
Nadal: "I get it as an anime, but I can't follow the manga!"
Ota: "What does that even mean?"
Nadal: "I'm just saying the manga is hard!"
That's the bit they did.
I mean, Demon Slayer and Attack on Titan are basically just a patchwork of recycled plots and settings at this point —
all you can really do is laugh it off.
As for "Jujutsu Whatever," I don't even care enough to ask what it is.
That's old-man territory.
For what it's worth, it was still running until 2018.
I happen to know those so it's fine for me, but still.

but why don't they ever use it as a reason to actually go learn about it?
Nobody's gonna go study something they're not interested in when there's no pressing need to.
Useless to society.
They think that's their craft, you know.
Everything ties into general knowledge in the end.
You're definitely better off knowing your manga.
Then why can't you apply that same logic to knowing Dokaben helping you talk to old people?
There was Norakuro in my elementary school library, I read it.
How many years ago did that manga even end?
In the end I never touched Demon Slayer, not even a millimeter's worth.
Why is someone who doesn't even know doragobo hanging out on a garbage-dump board like this……
"Doragobo" isn't really a shorthand people who watched it in real time actually use.
That guy's apparently a genuine short sleeper,

I'm not even from that generation, but I learned about Benkei High School and stuff from listening to Car Boy.
I mean, they even did a 4-panel Dokaben strip.
but retro anime and manga never really catch on the same way, huh.
The anime remakes of Urusei Yatsura and Ranma 1/2 got people talking, but Kimengumi……

“Dokaben” is a baseball manga by Shinji Mizushima (with a judo arc within the story) that ran until 2018.
