I know of an art museum exhibit that deliberately collected flickering fluorescent lights. I bet they get used as props in movies too — for that seedy, run-down atmosphere, like a cheap apartment set.
Any lighting technology that never made it into car headlights, I consider a failed system.

Regular light bulbs should be fine — you can just swap them back when you move out. LED replacements for fluorescent fixtures are a different story though; a lot of them are cheaply made, and there've been quite a few fire incidents.

Near me, the tall hedge branches along the sidewalk keep growing wild onto the path, which is dangerous for pedestrians.
